New U8800-51 - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi, since my old Galaxy 5800 passed on, i decided to get the U8800. I had custom roms installed on my old phone but im not sure i understand which roms can be aplied to the U8800-51 Could someone please point me on the right direction here? (i already backed up with Roadkill disk image and backed up my IMEI.
BTW, anyone knows which Rom has actually the best battery life?
thanks and all

No, it's a different phone and the ROMs are not compatible at all.

i've seen some tutorials on how to upgrade to ICS on u8800-51 fairly complicated and the way i understand it as they are built for other models y should loose 4g and provably some other funcions? Is there a Dev that is working exclusively on u8800-51 or that can help us develop new roms built for our phones?
(BTW, how retarded is on huaweis behelf not to give support for a phone that is the upgraded version of IDEOS X5 and give the older version of the phone GB but not u8800-51)

Milestone2 and Fission ROM...

I have had a few people ask me about getting Fission for the Milestone2 working...
I have a few questions...
Is there a SBF for the Milestone2?
Is there a Milestone2 that works with AT&T 3G?
If I start building ROM for Milestone2 are a few willing to test since I do not have device? If you want to help me test the M2 ROM then please message me your email address so when I am ready to go I can email you and let you know.
If there is one that works with AT&T maybe I will purchase one so I can test myself. I really hate building ROMs for a device that I do not have since it makes testing so much harder and longer but I got so many requests so far that it is hard to say no
Whoever sent me the sytem dump for the M2, thanks! Will help me getting a ROM going.
Give me 2-3 days and maybe we will have Fission RC1 for the M2.
PM'd! I'm absolutely interested in this! Would be great to get rid of MOTOBLUR and actually see what the MS2 can do!
I am very interested in this. I would like to help as a tester but this is my first android phone, so I don't think I would be of any real help. I need to get used to the device and the OS first. Still, your work would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. I would think any device without a simlock would work on AT&T, no?
very interested
+1! Really nice to hear that someone trying to help us M2 users!

There are some service sbfs at h**p://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2
And I'd be willing to test it as well, although I'm not that Android-experienced..
I'm also interessted and willing to test!
Go, Milestone 2, go, go go...
I may have enough to get a M2 some time next week. I am going to start building some stuff for it over the weekend once I am done with Fused ROMs for the other devices.
I was all set to buy one on EBay until I saw how much more they were than the Droids so have to wait a bit
+1 Very interested, what build number is everyone here running?
I have been too scared to flash the UK service sbf as my current Australian rom build is: MILS2_U6_2.2.19.
I would really like to at the very least debrand and get rid of all the provider rubbish but all the sbf's I have found are 2.2.16!
+1 from me, also for a dedicated milestone 2 area
Hi, thank you. I am definitely interested and ready to test anything you throw my way

I need a clean system dump, cant use SBF since I do not have M2.
I would love to get the M2 so I can develop on it. The ebay prices are crazy and I am not going to spend 600+ US Dollars on a device that has no ATT3G. Does Telstra in Austrailia have a M2? I know Telstra uses the same bands as ATT so 3G will work.
Would anyone be willing to trade a M2 for a Droid2 Global White Edition? The Global should get 3G service for everywhere else and if itis a trade I do not care about the ATT 3G service. My global is brand new with one of those ZAGG invisible sheilds on it http://www.zagg.com/ , it has never been outside and just been used for dev work.
If this was not a GSM device I can build it with my eyes closed but it being GSM device there are some extra packages needed for the SIM card functions if it is like the D2 Global. I am working hard to get those packages to work without Blur and so we can have true Fission on M2...
Angdroid
Thanks for your effort! I would love to trade my MS2 for your D2G and all but that would mean that both of us lose their warranties on the phone. And that sucks...

Gingerbread for Galaxy 3

Hi All,
I think there has been a lot of enthusiasm about Gingerbread theme and themed ROMs. But any idea whether there would be a Gingerbread 2.3 ROM for G3?
Is there anyone who is working for the same? Since Cyanogen mod does not still work for G3, one of you would need to take the initiative to make a custom rom running Gingerbread for Galaxy 3.
bye
Nandi
anyone present here can only modify roms at most and give some fixes they cant build a whole rom, only samfimware or Samsung guys can do that and this is not the right place to discuss that go to general forum.

I don't think that there will be a 2.3 ROM for the G3 in this life. 2.2 is not released by now and you ask for 2.3?
Samsung has not listed this phone for 2.3 upgrade and its not gona happen for ever.
The only chance we got is using CM7 and port it for SG 3. I have started working on it, hope it gets me atleast some where.

[Q] What are the different u8800 models?

Hi, i've been looking around the forums but havent found anything about this. I just purchased a u8800-51 phone, but apparently, there are many simmilar models and not all softwares, custom roms, recovery menus, etc work on all devices.
So, my main question is, what are the different models available and which ones are simmilar or should be capable of using the same roms.
So far i've seen:
- u8800-51
- u8800
- u8800pro
- u8800+
thanks.
I have also seen the U8800H on here. Mine is -51, myself.

u8800-51 is same as impulse 4g (if i remember correcly)
u8800 is the basic phone. Check info from google.
u8800h is same as u8800 only with hspa+ and faster hsupa. can use u8800 rom but lose hspa+(?)
u8800pro has different processor, so it has its own roms.
so only u8800 and u8800h can use same roms.
thanks! great info. Now it will be easier to understand what i can and cannot install on my phone. Thanks!
For the u8800-51 it also comes with HSPA+ (at least in my country) but as far as i know it doesnt have any 4 G capabilities. Maybe its just a name the gave it to make it look cooler.
thanks again!
anybody knows if the 8800-51 coan use the same roms as the 8800 or not?? as far as i can see, they are exactly the same phone, only difference is that one has radio and the other one doesnt.

This lol
I remembered when I first got my tab (in short, I traded a laptop, Xbox 360, and games used for a brand new SGT). First thing I did was rooted it via some app. Then I proceeded to install busybox for some reason, then thought "meh I feel like going back to stock" so I just uninstalled busybox (ignoring whatever message it said about not uninstalling it).
Tab didn't reboot, then I panicked and tried flashing something with Odin (not sure what it was, but I ended up trying to fill all the boxes in Odin with some files and then flashing). It failed
Eventually, I then just gave up trying to keep stock and went with Overcome
So I'm pretty lucky to still have my tab lol...
Nowadays, I find it easy to try out different ROM's (I always just restock according to Overcome's GB guide, then proceed to flash a custom ROM and Kernel)
I'd recommend spending some time on Froyo stock for a bit, then eventually trying to update to either stock Gingerbread, or another stable Gingerbread ROM (such as Overcome or Hyperdroid). Then do a bit of research and then try to go to ICS.
Just be careful on what your flashing, always double-check things, and check out people's feedback
Edit:

I believe the roger's tab uses the GT-P1000 kernel but I'm not sure...do a quick search or ask the guys here.
Oh and btw, HumberOS build is quite outdated compared to the releases from Slim's build which can be found here. This ROM .zip already comes with kernel so it should work just fine on your tab I guess? And don't forget to flash gapps after ROM, but I guess that's pretty obvious judging from the other devices you messed with lol

I also bricked my Tab a few times when I started flashing ROMs on it not too bad tho since it's pretty much impossible to hardbrick the tab afaik, I never did and I flashed some pretty dumb stuff on it lol just keep a GB Stock ROM in your pc to flash with Odin/Heimdall and reflash it whenever you softbrick your tab that's what I used to do that or Overcome ROM.

Welcome!
Just a quick note on flashing the tab. As you already noticed, you should get on Gingerbread bootloaders first. The rest is up to you, all current ROMs for our Tab can be flashed on top of them. Seeing you got over the softbrick with Overcome, you should be home free already.
PS: also make sure your tab is charged at more than 10% before you start flashing or you might not be able to get into recovery or download mode. It may look like a softbrick, but you just need to let it charge...
Peace and happy flashing!

OverClocking and Custom ROm

Hi All,
I've just buy an Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P5110. And I head that we can improve the CPU by overclocking it to 1,4 Ghz .
Can you tell me what the risk of this operation? Cause the CPU will heat too much and maybe died more quickly? What do you think?
My second question is too know how can I do that? Cause I've seen that I need to root my tablet? first and after that? It's possible with my model?
When I use my tablet I found it a little too slow . Can I improve this with a custom rom and a overclocking?
Many thanks for all your Answers.
Custom ROM's and Kernels will increase your performance but of course they will also void your warranty.
You can root and install a custom kernel which will allow you to overclock your device.
The main risk is the CPU overheating and causing your device to become unstable, if that happens you just need to lower your OC as your device can not handle it. You will be lowering your CPU's lifetime but it should still last a year or two (Most likely more) it just won't last as long as it could have.
Thanks for this, but I've look how to install a Custom rom but I don't find any good rom for the version 2 of the Galaxy Tab 2 . There is one availaible?
Thanks!
There's a couple cm9, aokp, and the debloated roms of course.

ive read of people using some of the roms on the 5110 with no problems, read through and see what you can find. 5113 and 5110 are regional and the 5110 doesnt have the IR so id imagine they would work but just check through there.
Hello Again Just one last question.
When you say that if I overclock the device , I lost my warranty , there is no way of go back to the original Rom before send it to warranty if any problems occur?
Thanks in advances for your answers
