[ROM]StockICS-Converted to Flashable ZIP - Meizu MX

You are free to kang this all you like, just mention my name. I realized that a zip would probably be easier for real devs to work with. All I'm trying to do is promote more development.
It would be great if Adam or someone could do something with this.

Also, here's a way to root. Link All credit goes to Recognized Contributor sparkym3, all I did was edit the .bat file. This is a Windows executable script, and if someone wants to port it over to other OS' go right ahead
Root tool tutorial:
1: Put your MX in usb debug mode
2: Connect to your pc via usb
3: Run the .bat file and follow the instructions in the cmd window
4: Be rooted, be happy!

Thx!

Vanilla beta. Do you think that a custom recovery is possible with the hk mx? Dual or quad core?

Not a developer - just wondering/waiting for a good vanilla rom for MX, sorry

Currently working on a CM9.1 port. It boots but stays at the boot animation. I wont be able to do anything else until the weekend most likely. :/

I'm using the Vanilla Beta as a base, should I be using Flyme? I don't know lol I'm really new to this.

Anything else than a port from source is pretty much useless.

just built a 4.2.2 stock kernel and rom - update7 final - 14/9

i built it for both fun and testing for my note 2 lte n7105, will try it out soon
hope that i will return with a success, although i think its not an easy task
ps no promise
You are a recognized dev, so I very hope this is true...
Have you ported the Note 8.0's firmware?
So, any update?
Hopefully success as a 4.2 2 stock rom would be awesome.

ok guys, just a little bit updates so far after 5 tests
it booted up but stopped at the 7105 logo
so i examined the last_kmsg and compared to the 4.1.2's and found that
- init has been called and executed
- drivers loaded successfully including cpu, battery, usb, display, mmc, etc
- disks mounted
- it then paused or looping and i have no idea what happened atm because the log files couldnt provide me with more info, and most importantly adb was not available, thus i could have no way to check what's going on for now
that's all i can tell atm, and tough jobs expected
Yup go for it!! reserved!

I wish there was a way to get ADB earlier...
Keep on with the hard work! Good job!
BTW, what is your base rom?
I think you should try using Note 8.0's. Devices are very similar in specs, and we will still have all Sammy's S Pen's features

And what about ADB? Still boot gets stuck too early?
And maybe try looking on the Note 10.1's port for the Note 2. Maybe your problem isn't related to it being Android 4.2, but the port itself.

Was just wondering if you'd gotten it via a download from Amazon. Amazon seems to be surprisingly open with this release. I know they've posted source and firmware, already.
Any easy guide to run a plain linux version
I was wondering if I can run a simple linux version up. The form factor and cost makes it a great candidate to replace some Raspberry Pi where more processing is required.
Thoughts?
You would have to wait until it's rooted, and the bootloader is unlocked for recovery but it should not be difficult to build from source for it. I believe Ubuntu targets the Krait SOC.

it looks pretty similar to inforce ifc6410 single board computer.. fedora w/ custom kernel and rebuild of latest mesa for gfx drivers, and you should be good to go:
https://github.com/freedreno/freedreno/wiki/Fedora
I guess same should work for ubuntu/debian/whatever.. basically all you need, if the distro doesn't already have it, is mesa 10.1 (or later preferred for more fps and features), xf86-video-freedreno, libdrm.. and of course a rebuilt kernel
Would you also be able to dump /data?

Nexus 7 Ubuntu 13.04 DESKTOP

Hi, I recently installed Ubuntu desktop on my Nexus 7 using multirom.
It all went well and works well if you use a mouse with an OTG cable, I understand it was meant for developers but has anyone been able to install the tegra 3 drivers and keep unity/taskbar working?
When I install the drivers and reboot, it boots up and looks better but doesn't have unity or the taskbar. I can get into terminal with a keyboard and pretty much everything can open but its not exactly usable this way.
Thanks.

Which Tegra 3 drivers are you talking about? Ubuntu Desktop for Nexus 7 should already come with all the drivers it needs.
Its very slow and doesn't play videos, only sound. Also, in "about this computer" or something like that, none of the hardware or even the devices name is recognized. Here's a link to it https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/raring/armhf/nvidia-tegra3/16.0-0ubuntu3

Yes, those drivers are already included in Ubuntu Desktop for Nexus 7. They do have issues though (lots of screen tearing). Playing video shouldn't be a problem though if you have the right codecs installed.

Edit: in "about computer" none of the nexus 7 hardware is displayed, I thought its strange since the version was made specifically for the nexus, is this normal?

Yes that's normal. Canonical ported Ubuntu to the Nexus 7 solely to test it and optimize it for low-spec devices. They didn't do a whole lot to polish it up and make it presentable for end users because that wasn't really their goal
Oh, let me offtop a little.
Is there any "easy" way to try out Ubuntu on grouper? I mean easy like flashing zip in recovery and then restore back to android...

Yeah man. Multirom is an app made for nexus devices that let's you multiboot ROM and distros. I've got cm11, ubunut and active plasma installed right now. Just read the how to's on this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011403 and download the Ubuntu 13.04 from that page. If you want a few other distros for multirom get them here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2093797. It really is the easiest way to actually dual boot. And the dev is amazingly helpful. Don't hesitate to report a bug to him.

Porting CyanogenMod to Desire 820s MT6752

I came across CM12.1 rom for Lenovo K3 Note on needrom. Considering that K3 have the same chipset as ours, I've been thinking that it can be ported to our device.
I've tried to port it past few days but failed. Any developer would come up and try to port it?
What have you done? Device tree something else?
Nope. Just changing libs here and there, according to this guide. I'm still noob in porting roms so I can't do much.

Yes. I'm actually having problem in repacking system.new.dat files. The same as the guy face here. Finding the solution require me to learn Linux. I'm still new at Linux, so I need some time to learn.
Other than that is okay (perhaps). I followed some other guides like http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-how-to-port-lollipop-based-roms-t3223938 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2707438.
Oh and one more thing, the rom is ported by @Cheshkin. I've tried to seek his permission to port the rom through pm, but still no answer. So I cannot post the rom here (if I done porting it) without his permission.

I already did, but I can't repack it. So instead I tried looking for other roms while staying away from dat files - cm12.1 ulefone be touch 2 and blisspop k3 note.
Now I'm having problems with the kernel. The rom won't boot at all, the worse I can't get the dmesg.
I don't have much free time to explore kernels in detail. If anybody can help me with porting the kernel, it would be a pleasure.

That would be the coolest thing???
Hello guys hope you have been doing great, Was too busy with school, exams and stuff.
Good news!! I have finally managed to boot into CM 12.1 after I successfully ported it today.
It's lightning fast but has some bugs: USB, bluetooth and Sim don't work currently and it needs some resizing of the framework images.
I will try to work on it until Sunday and hopefully someone else can take over with modifying it

I check AIDA64, which showed it in 32 bit mode. Also, Dolphin won’t install (64 bit only). This is a really weird deal. The kernel is compiled in 64 bit/aarch64 (at least the one I compiled from Samsung source is), but the user land is 32 bit. I have no idea why Samsung did it this way.
