[Q] is the nexus 7 more powerful than the soon to be nexus 4 - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

the title says it all. I don't really know to much about processors and the likes and just want to know is the 7 more powerful then the 4

Nope. For both cpu and gpu. not even close.
Tegra 3 is pure marketing.

Still, nowadays price is a huge factor. So to the £159 you're getting a bargain. Tegra optimised games, although capable on other devices, are a plus to the N7 but as suggested, pure marketing. Like nVidias PhysX.

4 wins hands down.
Like the guy above said tegra is all marketing, its actually one of the most disappointing soc's of its generation.
The snapdragon s4 with adreno 320 are top notch.

Desire HD high end or mid end

Is htc desire HD mid end or high end device . I have noticed in the android app store if you look for dungeon defenders it puts DHD in mid range category and nexus s and samsung s as high end . strange cause DHD has more ram and upgraded processor then why they list the device in mid range above samsung s and nexus s

I personally classified this device as high end!
I don't know why anybody woild say DHD to be a mid end device. It's absoletely high end

You can check out the android app store And look for the game called dungeon defenders. These they have put the DHD in mid range section.

The developers is talking about graphics nothing more. As far as our gpu goes it is mid end, with powervr and tegra 2 devices at the top end. basically the dev has put that to make it easer for noobs to understand, rather than having a minimum/recommended requirements The DHD is clearly a top.end device tho.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Higher high end!
After using Samsung Jet, DHD is astounding.
Yeah, the GPU is what characterizes DHD as "mid-ranged". PowerVR 540 on Galaxy S is much more powerful (almost twice as powerful) than Andreno 205 on DHD when it comes to 3D graphics.
DHD can handle ALL existing games, but in some of them (e.g. Asphalt 5 HD), we are missing some effects, like the ingame reflections on various objects. I can definitely live with that.
So games plays fast on DHD but looks cool on samsung s
... I did not knew DHD has mid range graphics... I feel bit disappointed

Judge by the release price, high end.
Judge by the material of the phone, high end.
Jugde by CPU power, thanks to the powerful vpu, higher than high end.
Judge by gpu, mid end? But DHD wins in both an3Dbench xl and gpubench but loses in Nenamark1. I don't really know.

It loses in Nenamark?Nah nah nah!I scored 49.2FPS just yesterday and scored 49.7FPS once. You just have to switch to performance governor.Smartass gives like 43FPS and ondemand/interactive plunge to 33.The SGS scores like 50,so not such a big difference.
Not stating that the PowerVR isn't more powerful,it's just not twice as powerful.
THen how powerful it in compared to DHD gpu

Why is DHD the most expensive phone, because it is High End phone...
Look you guys don't get it ..in terms of processor its great but its mid end device in terms of gpu. Even developed treats desire HD midrange device in terms of gpu. SamsuNg s uses powervr

Really this will be high end for at least a couple of months yet. Once the dual cores are more readily available it will be mid range.

So much for "Iphone 5 will put S3 to shame" ...

First Geekbench results of Apples new Wonder-Phone:

And btw. ist no where near a A15 inside the Iphone 5, it's ARM v7.

The iphone 5 dual core is faster than our quadcore. Search for new benchmarks in google -.-

If it's not fake then good work for the benchmark until Jellybean for S3 arrives
http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1026099
Still S3 outperforms Iphone5 :good:
And Iphone 5 will only use that for the gaming applications because their homescreen is so basic (No widgets and true multitasking), so to summarize it's still a useless upgrade.. I'd rather buy a Ps vita/nintendo DS for gaming if the main focus of apple products is to improve the hardware for gaming.

The only thing that pulls the iPhone 5 benchmark scores higher is memory bandwidth.... The s3's cpu scores substantially higher.

[Q] Does it worth duying a Nexus 7

Hello,
I am thinking of buying a nexus 7, but I don't know if it worths the money.
I mean I love nexus family but there are many tablets going out nowadays and
I don't know which to peak.
I am seeking for advices whether is a good tablet or I should buy another tab.
Any suggestions apriciated .
Thanks in advance.
AW: [Q] Does it worth duying a Nexus 7
I would recommend to buy it, it's great
But if you can wait a few months, wait until the Google I/O, maybe they will publish an update of the nexus 7 :good:
Sent from my SK17i running Android 4.1.2
I would honestly recommended the nexus. Its by far the best 7 inch tablet out there and it can even easily compete with the 10 inch ones. Its perfectly suitable for my everyday needs and the quad core processor is blistering compared to these sluggish dual Core ones

Yes , I was thinking about waiting for the new nexus 7.
I also believe that the new Samsung note 8 will be a great competition
for the nexus.
I am worried about the problems that I have read over the forum
and about the 1gb ram I think it needs more.

Honestly you can't go wrong buying a Nexus 7, specially the price.
what kind of feedback are you expecting from a forum dedicated to people who love their nexus 7? this is like going to a mazda dealership and asking them if it's worth buying a mazda.
Agree with the post above mine, but the reason I bought the 7 specifically is due to the price. For $250 there isn't a better device available.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
You get great specs at the best price point out there. What is it not to love, and what makes the decision so hard. For the 7 inch form factor, it has no rival nowadays. If you're looking for a bigger display, a better resolution go with the nexus 10, galaxy tab 2, galaxy note 10.1 etc.
No, I don't think you should dye the nexus, but in all honesty you should buy it

Just like the "Secret Garden" that had been growing without any care or management, locked behind a door.
Actually it was horrible looking until it was "opened up" and cleared and replanted. Put Android on that iPad
I have an ipad2, a TF700T and two Nexus 7s. The Nexus 7's are my favorites. Right size, right price, right speed. Tad heavy. So far not the smallest glitch in either one. One is a 32gig wi-fi, the other is a 32gig wi-fi/ATT.
Zero buyers remorse on this purchase.

Nexus 4-5

I will get my nexus 4 in summer, maybe may or June, so should I wait for the n5 or just stick with the n4 ?
And isn't the hardware on the n4 is going to do great handling any apps or games without any problems for a few years ? I mean it's the best out there I think...

Give him a break guys, he's using the xda app and obviously there isn't a search button. And it would have been easier to just answer him than try to be a mean mum.
To OP: You wouldn't regret getting a Nexus 4 mate. The hardware would undoubtedly be outdated in a few years, but it certainly won't fall behind by that much. And you wouldn't feel too far behind from new android versions since this is a nexus.
The glass I think is fragile but putting a case on the back would definitely protect it. But temperature changes (sudden ones) are rumored to affect the glass and cause them to spontaneously break without producing splinters. Based on the data though, one can assume that only a few units are affected by this condition (mine too, unfortunately )
Anyways, it's your decision. If you think you can wait, then get the 5, but if your hands are itchy and want to get a sexy device, get the n4
In my opinion though, wait till june. If the nexus 5 launches and you don't like it, then get the 4, if you do though, then obviously get the nexus 5.

Im getting pissed off of people whining about using the search button rather than just answering. If everyone just used the search button you would quickly have a dead community.

Exactly and also it mentions tegra 4? That outdated piece of garbage. Qualcomm is currently the best chip. Agreed tegra has better gaming performance but overall Qualcomm blows away tegra.
Anyway there won't be another nexus coming till October. May be they will have a Moto X phone or something but not nexus. That happens once a year during holidays.

Octa Core 3G vs Quad Core 4g AGAIN??

I am looking at buying this but i am now once again confused which one, the cheaper one to get is the octa core , but 4G is becoming VERY hard to turn down now... So i think its going to be the quad.
I am from Australia the standard is the 4G Quad.
Whats your thoughts and howcome there is not a thread for both phones like last year

Actually the GPU I believe it's the weaker part when you compare Octa vs Snapdragon.
Not by a huge margin but Adreno performs better than Mali.
CPU performance is better in the Exynos.
