[Q] Minecraft PE Backup - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All
I have a little problem. I purchased Minecraft PE for my son using my username and credit card. Unfortunately, my Google username has been hacked and someone else has purchased a few items on my credit card. I have since had the card replaced so it cannot be used again but I am not comfortable using my old username. I have used MyBackup Pro to backup all my apps which I will restore on my new username. However, I cannot seem to be able to make a backup of the Minecraft PE .apk. Without my ability to backup this app, I cannot transfer it to my new username. It would be nice if Google would allow us to do it but unfortunately they don't.
So, can someone please tell me how to backup Minecraft PE from an Unrooted Asus Nexus 7 Tablet ? So far, I have tried File Expert and MyBackup Pro. I also own Titanium Backup * Root but am not too sure if I can use this app on an Unrooted tablet or whether it will perform the backup as I want to.
Why the Nexus 7 forum ? Because that is the device it is installed on.
Why haven't I tried contacting Mojang ? I have tried but simply cannot find their email address on their website.
Any help would be most appreciated.
To the wonderful XDA Mods, apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
Thanking everyone in advance.

Try the Titanium restore and see what happens (what have you got to loose) or perhaps just try a Google search for the apk ?

Or keep your old gmail and turn on double authentician

a big thank you to Mallikanth & BrianDigital. I rooted my N7 this evening. I was able to backup Minecraft PE using Titanium Backup Pro * Root. I was then able to login to the N7 with my new username and restore it via Titanium.
@ moderators. I am unsure on how to close a thread as I would like to close this off for comments and leave it for reference only. Help please ?
Cheers

You could also have used adb backup/restore from a command prompt and USB cable. Doesn't do ass well as Titanium Backup Pro but it's useful.
There is officially no way to transfer purchased apps to another account AFAIK.

Try Es file explorer it works or you could download a minecraft pe apk from the Internet.

How do you remove all the junk pre-loaded apps from Bell Samsung Galaxy?

I know this has been probably asked and answered many times but I'm new to xda community, if anybody can point me to a thread where it explains how to remove these useless apps like (bell pvr)
I use titanium backup. It is free in the Market. But be careful what apps you remove, I was told that certain apps require others to work.I just removed bell PVR and all the "social network" stuff.
When Titanium opens (Must be rooted) select backup/restore button at the top. Then scroll down to the apps you want to remove. Tap the icon then a list will appear, select uninstall.
And you are good
Enjoy your Galaxy!!
I am aware about the Titanium backup and want to remove some useless (for me) apps, but as the above poster mentioned I am not sure which ones are safe to be removed and more importantly, what do we do in case we remove an app that shouldn't have been removed... So if anyone has successfully uninstalled some of the stock apps could mention which ones?
Your best bet would be to backup the files you want to remove. You can do this in Titanium. Then after you remove the files you want to remove. After you reboot see if it works. If not then simply go back into titanium and restore the backup.

you need to be rooted, and use Titan Backup (free)
everything in RED is preloaded
some are safe to remove, some are not
so make a backup before you remove anything
Guys, Where can I find this junk you deleted ...i need bell pvr app.
Anyone got a full backup of bell samsung vibrant ?
not me sorry, that is one of the very first thing i deleted, since i don't use Bell TV
actually i quit TV since like 7 years ago
as soon as i found out i can watch all my favorite TV shows anytime i wanted online/offline
i still have a TV somewhere, i just get the Free Over The Air, like the good old fashioned way, with the Rabbit Antennae
If u guys dont want to do it manually, might i suggest "systemapp remover" in market. It allows deletion of the apk followed by uninstalltion of the appropriate package name.
Titan Backup does that already, it backup and then uninstall
so if you screw-up by "accident" (removing things you shouldn't) you can restore from backup
Is there a nandroid backup or something we can extract the apk from.
Comeon guys, help me out here
thanks

Guys, I have t mobile vibrant. Else I would already have that apk.
If anyone can provide me a backup file then I can extract.
Here is the backup file that Titanium Backup created for the Bell PVR application. I hope this helps.

I've read all over these forums about how you can use titanium backup to uninstall the bell apps that come with the phone. But whenever I launch Titanium all I see are the following:
Accounts
Application Widgets
Bluetooth Pairings
Country, Language, Time Zone
Wi-Fi Access Points
I've checked the filters and they're not on.
Is it broken?

Android Phone with working WhatsApp and/or Viber
Titanium Backup on both your phone and your Iconia Tab
Astro or any other file explorer

1.) Make a backup of a working version of Whatsapp and/or Viber
2.) Use the file explorer to copy the three backup files from Viber and/or Whatsapp from the Titanium Backup directory to your PC or to your dropbox.
3.) Copy the files from PC/dropbox to your Titanium Backup folder on Iconia Tab internal SD-Card
4.) Restore the backup with Titanium Backup.
5.) Enjoy your working Viber/Whatsapp
what if you dont have an android phone. i only have a hp touchpad. can anyone upload the files?
Yes, I have an Archos32 Internet Tablet, with Android ofcourse, and it only has WiFi.. So I've rooted my device now and installed Titanium Backup, but I dont have an Android phone. So could someone please upload those 3 com.whatsapp files?
Thx
I assume no one can upload their files, since it will be tied to their phone number... meaning all of their messages will appear to anyone using those backup files.
will this work on my wifi only A500 tablet?

Cool thanks=) It works on my A500 with Thor ICS v96.
If you don't have an Android phone, you can download YouWave Android emulator and install Whatsapp onto that.

Wouldn't it be easier to just download the app ,and install it from a root device via file manager?
Works for me.

it will install but you can't activate it without a number tied to your system (maybe that's why it worked for you, since you have a 501 with a sim)

So if I have a Iphone4 JB and a Iconia A500, there's no Chance?
Does anybody know whether the settingfiles are the same on iOS and Android?
Edith says:
After trying YouWave and getting furious about a crashing TitaniumBackup, I installed Android SDK...
With a little help from ADB I got What'sApp finally Working on my A500 ICS v134.
But WA doesn't want me to use the same Phonenumber as on the iPhone = / so I had to use a prepaid Number - which is quite annoying as the sense of WA on the Iconia AND the iPhone is lost D:
I know this is an old dead thread but I would like to share something.
We have whatsapp working with 2 different numbers on our devices. What we can do so that messages end up on both is to add groups to your chats and add both devices to the groups. This way messages will appear on both devices no matter what. I know, not the most glamorous but its the best we can do until whatsapp starts supporting tablets and multiple devices.
Just dropped by this worked perfectly for me on ICS a couple weeks ago (on multiple ROMs) but for some reason it didnt work last year on HC..maybe i was doing something wrong? I'm not quite sure but it works now
I dont have an android phone and I need to get this working in a hurry

Backing up my Nexus

Today my replacement Nexus came in. I had a backlight bleed problem. New unit seems perfect. I spent a lot of time getting the first one right, and was wondering if there were any tips to ease the transition to the new device. I never rooted because I didn't want to void the warranty knowing I'd be returning it. And so Titanium is out, as is Nandroid. Are there for example apps that will backup your current apps and restore them even if it's done through the google play store? Or how can you save your backed up Nova Launcher settings to a new device without root? Is there a file that you can move for example? Any help would be much appreciated!

You can back up almost all of your apps using ES File Explorer without needing to be rooted. It won't back up a few apps that have special permissions. You can back up a lot of your data using MyBackup Pro. And if you have a Dropbox account its then easy to copy your backed-up apps and data there using ES File Explorer. You can then delete the backups to retrieve the space. I do this myself at least once a week.

While it is a ton easier to have unlocked (that is what wipes the device, not rooting it), and root the device... you can backup using adb...

Personally, I've never tried it... but if you are desperate... its something you can try...

Backup apps to cloud?

So i was wondering if anyone has ever needed to back up all there apps to a location other then there phone/tablet. it would be cloud storage i would think. reason is i need to backup all my apps and have then to be restored apon receiving replacement nexus. I herd sandisk memory zone? thanks.
MyBackup Pro has an option to backup to online storage and restore. I'm not sure if the free version has that option but I know the paid version does.

I use the following process to ensure I can restore my whole device to a brand new unit if necessary.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29550640
I use my workstation rather than a Cloud for a Number of reasons. The best being that the workstation has a triple redundant backup, and if I really need access to it remotely I already have that ability.
I used this to create a restorable copy of a completely setup device to a brand new unit successfully already.

I create the same functionality with Dropsync. It basically lets Dropbox function the same on your tab as your computer. I run my backups with TiBu in the early morning, and although syncing can be slow, it easily finishes before I get up. I was already using Dropbox so this was the most convenient solution for me.

I forgot to mention that i would like an option to do an entire backup without having to root first. From my understanding rooting it would wipe user data? so then there would be no point lol

Rooting doesn't wipe the data, Unlocking the Bootloader does. Why unlocking should be done before doing a lot of work.
You can use adb to do a backup of your system, but none of the other things I talked about will work. No point in moving it to a cyberlocker since it will already be on your computer/workstation.

While TB is something that I do and end up with a copy in my backup system, it is not what I use to restore to a new device. Instead I use the Nandroid Backup (created with TWRP). Much much faster and more complete. Only need to move over the Nandroid backup files after you have unlocked the new device and rooted, and put the recovery on the device. Then simply do a restore in recovery wipe Davik and Cache and you are right back where you were with the other device.
The sync to the workstation via the Cheetah Sync is much faster than syncing to dropbox and I am backing up more than just the TB files for a more useful backup.

TitaniumBackup+ has support for backing up to Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive.
I use App Backup & Restore to backup every app I install (automatically), then Dropspace to push it to my Dropbox (automatically). Then I relax with a cappuccino and carrot cake.

Backup apps and games

I have looked through the topics and online but cant find anyway to backup existing apps, games and general settings on the Shield TV without root.
Normally I wouldn't worry about this but as Google have actually started to delete games entirely from the play store, and you cant even download them if you have previously purchased them as they are missing from your purchase history, there are a few games on the Shield I want to backup so I can restore them if I need to, also I wouldn't mind being able to do a full backup of them all at some point.
I would use Helium but that's cant be installed from the play store, so you cant install it and then the premium key that I would need for backing it up. I tried ES Explorer but the Shield version is dire and doesn't do backups.
For some reason the usual backup option is missing from the backup and reset option in the OS itself, even so this would not restore deleted games on the play store in the event of a reinstall.
If I could backup the games and apps apk's I guess I could manually backup the obb files etc using a file manager.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have ES File Explorer Pro (I think I paid $2.99 for it a few years ago) and it lets me backup my apps. I can then move them to a NAS I have connected to my router. Now, I will say, I'm not a gamer, so I can't vouch for how well it would backup some of these huge game files, but it might be worth your time to give it a try.
Best of luck! And let us know if it works for you.

I ended up using X-plore File Manager to extract and save the apk, then made backup copies of the data and obb directories manually to a usb key inserted in the Shield. Installing the apk on my phone then copying the directories back seems to have worked. I was hoping for something more automated though as I can see process having to be carried out again in the future.
Found out after I did this process, X-Plore File Manger has a built in WiFi server so the directories could have been copied from the shield to the phone from my PC with the WiFi server running on each device without the need for a USB Key.
Thank you for taking the time to reply, any help or suggestion is always appreciated.
