[Q]Is LG nexus 4 the only nexus google will launch? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've heard rumors that google would launch 4 new nexus devices from different brands like sony, samsung and htc. Yesterday google announced the LG nexus but I wonder if this is the only nexus or maybe they are going to release another nexus device from another brand?

No, the LG Nexus 4 is the only Nexus phone that they will release until the next one comes around this time next year.

well they sorta did? asus (n7) samsung (n10) lg (n4)....idk the others..

I think this is the only one.

They also launched the Asus Nexus 7 and Samsung Nexus 10.
The whole thing about multiple branded Nexus phones was just a rumor. There has been lots of hoaxes recently.

I read yesterday the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2 has been seen. Also Sony Nexus X has been talked about. Doesn't mean anything, but interesting to think about.

The galaxy nexus 2 speculation turned out to be just the Samsung galaxy premier and the Sony one was a rumor that someone make up, it was a hoax.

well the exact rumor was that we would see several nexus devices in 2012.
From there, people have speculated that there would several nexus phone, or that Google would launch a Nexus program for devices that could meet their specifications. All of that happened to be wrong but in the end, we did get several nexus devices as the first rumour said, as we got a nexus 7, a nexus Q (rip), the nexus 4, the nexus 7 with 3G and the nexus 10.
I personally do not think we'll see another nexus phone until next year, except maybe for a possible nexus 4 with 32Gb of storage around June.

Also don't forget the good old Nexus One, Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus.
Nexus 4 is neither the only, nor the first nor the last Nexus. And I don't think it will take 1 year until we will see the next releases.

Right time to buy a Nexus 4 or wait?

Hey everyone,
I'm considering to buy a new Phone. My current phone is the HTC Desire, which I use for about 2.5 years now.
Would your recommend buying a Nexus 4 now or is it worth waiting for the X-Phone or the next Nexus device? Some sources claim, that we will see those devices around June, after Google's developer conference. I definitely want a pure Google device.
The thing that is holding me back is that it we are about to allot new gen devices in the near future, with the new iteration of specs. (1080p display, Snapdragon 600 and 800...) So it seems to be a good idea to wait another 3 months or so...
What do you think?
Newer technology is always around the corner, you will wait forever if you always wait for the Next Big Thing. How easy will it be to get one of these as-yet-unreleased phones, and how much will they cost?
The N4 is available right now, at a bargain price, and will be a big step up from your Desire ...

After Upgrading from a HTC Desire Z, my only regret is that i didn't buy it sooner.
I got mine from T-Mobile free after 50 dollar Mir.

I think that all of those devices will be non nexus, bloated, at the mercy of the Manufacturer devices. And for what? More processing power to view your email? The screens may be nice tho. I don't see why you'd need 1080p on a less then 5in screen tho...
After owning this phone three weeks. I can't see going back to a carrier bloated samsung, HTC, or moto phone.
Look at the galaxy nexus, last year's hardware and it's still one of the smoothest and fastest phones because of pure android. The nexus 4 will hold its value too, it's only 349, don't buy the 8gb. You can always sell on ebay if you don't like it and come out even right now and I have a feeling n4 will keep selling on ebay for close to what you pay from Google. The only issues I have with the n4 is the camera is just not as good in poor lighting as my s3 was, other than that it's great. It's the best deal in Tech. Compared to the desire it's going to be ridiculous.

The right time is now OP. As others have said there is ALWAYS a newer phone with more impressive specs around the corner. With that mindset you will be waiting forever. I realize you dont want to buy the nexus 4 now and a few weeks later the next nexus device is announced. eh "such is life" OP
I'm pretty happy with mine. I'm coming from a Bionic.
I still probably will consider the x phone but this is certainly a solid enough device that I won't feel the need to jump ship the day it is released.

I just got mine on Tuesday (ordered Saturday) to replace my Galaxy Nexus - best decision I've made as the higher DPI alone makes it better IMO
OK, 1080p screens are nice and that but I don't need it as I don't watch films/play games on my phone

It's the right time, upgraded from a nexus one. So i recommend nexus 4. A real catch in my eyes. ^^,

Nexus 7 acessories

Hello everyone this my first post on the nexus 7 forum and I would like to know your opinion about accesories availability specially otterbox and speck. Both of these companies have realesed covers for the iphone 5c ( the iphone 5s is the same as the iphone 5) yet the nexus 7 has no accesories from these two. I know there are covers on amazon from but i want one from otterbox or speck wichever realeses first. To put this into comparison otterbox has covers for the Motorola droid Ultra, maxx, mini, and the x phone for lg g2 for the iphone 5c and very soon the samsung note 3. Id like your opinion onthis matter the nexus 7 released 2 months ago and all the phones ive mentioned release after the nexus 7 or near the nexus 7 release date
If you noticed all the devices you listed are phones the nexus 7 is a tablet, otterbox has less of a priority on tablets than they do phones regardless of the popularity of the tablet.

the 2nd gen nexus 4 is called nexus 5
Reasons : best device at that time with best cpu, best ram etc, at the cheapest price with perfect screen size and res, latest updates and lots of development.
Most of the above reasons are still true
No, the Nexus 4 doesn't have any "generations" so to speak.
But there are a few different revisions. Like Rev 10, 11, 12, 13.
Look here:
celltraderonline.com/showthread.php?4253-Knowing-The-Difference-Nexus-4-REV-10-Vs-Nexus-4-REV-11
But they're all the same phone really, just minor improvements.

oh, thanks for your info, that's all hehe.. im glad to hear it
I got it two weeks ago because my iPhone broke a month back and I needed a phone that would be cheap. Lo and behold I found mine mint condition for only 240$ on craigslist. Before my iPhone I used an inspire 4g which was pretty good. The hardware on this is pretty good for only 230$. The nexus 5 looked pretty good but seemed to have a lot of launch issues and it didn't have any features I'd need to pay the extra money for. That said I'll probably get a nexus 5 when it becomes cheaper too.

T-Mobile no longer carries Nexus 7 :(

I went to buy the Nexus 7 today on the site and it was gone. Hmm so I called and the rep told me that is was no longer in the system. Said it looks like that will not carry it. So the only Android tablet the have now is the Samsung Galaxy tab 3 eww.
They will have the Note 10.1 2014 soon and likely the new nexus a bit further out.

silver lining?
I noticed that the other day - I was struggling to keep myself from buying one, since the new Nexus tablet is probably arriving in a month or 2. I'm actually sort of glad T-mobile made the decision for me.
I was really considering getting one from them. Then I saw a like new used one for 210. Score!
Well if a new nexus 10" comes out with LTE, I know I will be selling my unlocked 7"

Samsung Galaxy S6 to a 6P worth doing?

For the past week I've been considering trading in my S6 & getting a 6P, I've always been a fan of Nexus phone's in the past I've had the Nexus 4, 5 & 6 before getting a S6.
So do you think it worth trading in the S6 for a 6P?

I just upgraded to the 6P from my nexus 6 2 days ago. I was waiting for the 2016 Nexus, but with the rumors of the next nexus being manufactured by HTC I thought I'd rather go with the Huawei seeing as HTC seems to be flopping. Personally I'd definitely go for the 6P over the S6, I had a note 4 which I guess is a similar experience and the 6P so far is the best phone I've ever laid my hands on. It's a great experience overall. I'd never go back with Samsung, waiting over a year for OTA's is just ridiculous.

I have around £450 spare to spend on a new phone, obliviously selling or trading in the S6 will give me abit more spare cash to play about with.
The S6 is a decent phone but my biggest bugbear with this phone is signal it's really poor, in all but the strongest of signal areas.
Where I live it's struggles to pick up any decent signal at all, where as my past Nexus 6 would usually connect to 4G no problem.
