File Structure - RAZR HD General

Using root explorer I noticed that internal storage is listed in folder called sd card. I actually have no sd card. If I did how could I navigate to it in root explorer? Thanks!

/mnt/external1

^This
The "/sdcard" is actually just a symlink from /data/media. If you navigate there, you'll see the same thing.

What does this mean for custom roms? I know DZK had trouble with the X2 and CM10 with weird mount points and ext4 vs fat.

It shouldn't affect anything. The og RAZR had the same mount system in place.

Mounting specific partitions?

I know this has been asked a lot of times but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Even my own earlier post is somehow deleted (prolly as it was in the dev section)
So once more, please?
I want to mount the sd card boot partition on my NC running CM7 (sd card - verygreen's method) so that I can copy some zips to flash.
Thanks.

If sd install:
busybox mkdir /sdcard/boot (this is done the first time only)
busybox mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 /sdcard/boot
then put the zips you want on /sdcard/boot... they will go to the boot partition
if eMMC install change mmcblk1p1 above to mmcblk0p1

I want to mount specific partitons onto my NC, not PC.
e.g. when running emmc CM7, it doesn't mount all partitons of SD. I was asking a way to mount these "other" partitions.

Which CWM and TB folder to keep?

Should I keep the one at the root of the SD or the one in /0?
Also, can anyone explain the two folders to me - /sdcard and /sdcard/0/? Which one is just a backup of older stuff?

They are both the same, i.e. different paths to the same directory, so you mustn't remove any one of it.
If I switch to tell, can I delete the cwm folder?

I second the motion - don't dink with the directory structure.
If you can't tell what is important, you are sure to mess it up.
/storage/emulated/0 is the first (primary) user. /storage/emulated/10 in the second user, etc.
/storage/legacy is all your apps apparently installed before 4.2.
/sdcard is the root of the writeable file system. I think it is the same as /storage/sdcard0.
A lot of what look like duplicate files will really be symlinks to the one original file, or the original directory.

[Q] Noob question about Multi-Rom on Nexus 7

One little question about the Tool "Multirom":
My internal storage is nearly full because of many Gameloft Games like Nova with big .obb files. After installing a custom Rom on a external storage like a 64gb usb stick, do the Apps/Games of the 2nd Rom will be stored on the external device or on the Nexus 7 internal storage?
Unfortunately tools like "Directory Bind" don't work for me because of Android 4.21...
I think they will store in external storage.

Sadegh is right. They stay on the external.

Little problem after installation: Multirom doesn't see the rom (paranoid android) on my USB drive.Always the message "No Roms in this location".USB is formatted in NTFS and the paranoid.zip is in the root directory

Well Fat32 is much better, now i can boot many roms but I cant install the paranoid-android rom.Always the same error:
create system.img
create data..
create cache
...
...
unable to open paranoid.zip
Whats wrong?
Maybe a kernel problem because I selected "use the same kernel for both roms"?
Ok I found the problem. In my opinion MultiROM is not fully compatible with NTFS...None of my roms work on NTFS.Always stuck on create data.img...
FAT32 works but the 4gb cap is a little bit annoying.Any idea?
The thread says NTFS is compatible... so it should be. You could also try making it extX.
Well ext3 is compatible too but I cant write anything on my USB Stick with this partition format...I use "Ext2fsd" but I cant mount the partition as read & write...only as read only.
I think NTFS is the best for me but I cant get it working ...Can I move the rom which I created under Ext3 to the NTFS partition?
Maybe exFat?
Have you checked the paranoid zip isn't corrupted? (md5 check or redownload)
I've not tried usb storage but paranoid is certainly working for me in multirom on internal storage

[HOW-TO] Recover Internal Memory lost after XXUFME3

Hello,
So after I flashed XXUFME3 I noticed that non of my files on my internal memory are showing any more.
When checking the storage, I can see that there was 5 GB worth of files un-accounted for, IE they still exist they just don't show any more.
After further digging up, here is what I have found:
The mount point for internal memory is no longer /sdcard/ it is now /sdcard/0/ and to my knowledge, I couldn't find a way to actually see /sdcard/ since it was not mounted to begin with.
Here is what I did to circumvate this:
1 - I rebooted to CWM recovery
2 - From there, I went to mounts & storage and mounted /data, /sdcard and /external_sd
3 - I opened an adb shell and from there browsing to /sdcard/ showed me all my precious files again.
From here on out, the solution was simple.
You can either:
Move all contents from /sdcard/ to /sdcard/0/ this can be done by running the following:
Code:
mv -r !(0) /sdcard/0/
OR
Copy all of your contents to your external SD by running the following:
Code:
cp -r !(0) /external_sd/
Both the above commands will exclude the directory "0" and all of its contents since you do not need to move them.
Hope this helps anyone who had the same problem.
Or you can go to /storage/emulated/0/0 folder and find all your old files in there.

I looked and they weren't showing there. I had a similar issue when I moved to AOKP and I was able to restore them as you said, however this time they simply weren't there.
The mount point is actually /data/media normally but here it's /data/media/0 so you can just copy everything from /data/media to /data/media/0 with a root explorer (i use es)
/sdcard and /storage/emulated essentially just redirect you to be media folder.

sir how can i restore my nandroid backup 4.1.2 from this 4.2.2? is it possible. it says md5 sum mismatch thanks in advance
The thread title is wrong. The files are not "lost".
Also, anyone who's used 4.2.2 before knows the deal here.

So are these duplicate files or just in a different place? I did a full wipe and flashed 4.2.2, then put all my stuff back from the backup on my computer. Does this effect me?

Different location. Full explanation in the thread I wrote in my signature

Turns out it is because of multi user support... If you create another user profile, all the files from that user will get saved to /sdcard/1. Only way out is to move all files from /sdcard to /sdcard/0.
