S5360L band changing ? - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

hi
i have here few PCS of S5630L
its same phone but bands are not the same.
HSDPA 7.2 850/1900MHz
anyone think it can be changed via software ? or its a hardware issue ?
if so can i change bands filters ?
thx

anything ? anyone ?

it can never be done,
it is the internal radio which transmits and receives frequencies,
which is a hardware thing,
if i got you correctly S530L is CDMA and you want a GSM band

This model is not cdma, irs gsm model fits to some countries like brazil and argentina.
so this phone works only on quad gsm 2g network with no, but on 3g networks it works only on 850/1900 and i need 2100
On older nokia phones we changed anttena duplexer and bands filters and it did the job.
On newer phone like i9000 we can change bands via programing menu.
I just wonder if it can be done even with hardware changes.
Thanks

Anyone ??
I tried *#*#197328640#*#* but not working

Samsung Omnia i900 - unlocking UMTS frequencies

Hi All,
Currently released version of Samsung Omnia i900 does not support UMTS 850/1900, which are north american 3G frequencies, according to official Samsung documentation, as well as FCC approval docs. However it has been recently established the radio chip does support those frequencies, and they are locked in the firmware only. Here is the evidence to support this claim:
This is the official FCC documentation for i900 certification:
https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas...me=N&application_id=476604&fcc_id='A3LSGHI900
On the page 4 of the "Internal Photos" document you can clearly identify the radio chip - it's Qualcomm RTR6285 and according to Qualcomm:
"Support for Eight UMTS Bands, Four EGPRS Bands, Triple-Band Receive Diversity and GPS Integrated into Power-Optimized RTR6285 Device": http://www.qualcomm.com/news/releases/2006/060213_worlds_first_single.html
So, it's only as matter of unlocking those frequencies in the current firmware. Samsung made our job a little easier, by recently making a public release of new ROM with updated firmware, so we won't have to dump it ourselves: http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/sg/sub02_xp.jsp#
I have limited free time and limited experience with reversing PDA firmware, to be able to achieve this by myself - please help.
I just got an Omnia and sometimes it hits the 3g network so i am sure that the firmware is there but it is locked.

more details please - where are you at? what network/carrier do you mean? do you really see 3G icon and experience fast browsing/download? what is the firmware version on your Omnia? (Settings -> System ->Version)
AT&T.I have it from Singapore.PDA:i900DXHH3/DZHH3.As i mentioned it hits 3g for a minute or so and then it goes back to edge
man i sure hope this issue gets fixed!

AllTheWay I started this thread to solve the problem for people in US,who already have Singapore/European Omnia, the i900. It's a well known fact Mirage hits AT&T on October 21st, but it doesn't help us one bit. Unless of course, you're willing to dump the ROM from i907, reverse it and replace the i900's radio with the one from i907 with all supported UMTS frequencies unlocked
I wish somebody could help us out on this issue, I dont know enough about rom editing to be of use ;(
besides, i think the 907 is already available but not branded to at&t: http://www.celluloco.com/samsung-i907-omnia-8gb-us-3g-support-version-hsdpa850-1900-e-pr-1873.html
any update of this thread?
HTC Diamond users with US 3G - please help
I'm starting to believe it might actually be possible to tweak existing radio firmware to unlock UMTS 850/1900Mhz bands using already embedded secret debug menu from Samsung developers, rather than having to dump it, reverse it, patch and flash back. Here is the secret code to access Root Debug Menu on Omnia: *#197328640#
Option #4 "UMTS rf nv" has sub-option "umts rf nv write", which I think allows to modify the active UMTS bands in the radio. Assuming we have that set correctly, option #9 "Common" from the same Root Debug Menu has sub-option #5 "WCDMA Set Channel", which allows to specify downlink channel range.
Here is my idea: some devices, such as HTC Diamond with US 3G enabled radio, have the same Qualcomm chip as Omnia, and run the same WM 6.1 OS. So,
I'm thinking it's worth a shot if someone with US enabled HTC Diamond provided us with settings from his device for those 2 configurable menus I just mentioned. If you backup your own settings, so you could restore them if it doesn't work - I think trying settings from another device will not fry the radio, worst case scenario transceiver will just shut down and be offline until settings are restored.
This would be great.... Iv'e been dieing to get 3g in the usa with the omnia.... Can anyone help with this?
Any updates on this? Would be nice. Especially now since we know omnia isn't coming to ATT as i907
If possible i will donate to the guy that dicover how to enable!
It may be easier to copy the setting from an I907 Epix. That has almost identical hardware and it is ATT + Samsung + Tri Band UMTS.
When I try writing the WCDMA channel it says "That value is wrong".
Also, I can only set one number, so I assume that they want me to set one in the listed range which is WCDMA2100.
Here are the bands:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands
Oddly, the Channels currently set stretch a few beyond the range cited on Wiki for WCDMA 2100. They start on the same channel.
Another oddity is that there is no uplink channel. I suppose that people just use Edge for this? Does the I907 do HSUPA?
well...
i'm living in ISRAEL,
and we have GSM network but we also have another cellular company that work with "UMTS 2100/850" band..
i'm working well on 3G with the 2100 band (my onmina have only UMTS/WCDMA 2100 only without 850 also..)
i will be happy to open if it's possible the UMTS/WCDMA 850 also.. so i'll have both 2100 + 850 on WCDM/UMTS (not GSM) freq...
but i'm not shure it's possible to open what ever you like.. anyway i'll try to ask our guys (at my cellular company i'm working at) about this freq stuff...
hope this thread will bring us good information..
also, just know.. my job is with Cellular phones.. and we have "for Testing" Omnia phone with WCDMA/UMTS 2100/850 bands..
but i don't know how i can download the firmware to my pc and try to use it on my omnia back...
if anyone know how i can "take-out" the firmware explane to me and i'll try to do it....
..

OK guys,
i had this omnia in my hands..
the Version says
PDA: i900LJJHK1/JJHK1
PHONE: i900LJJHK1
as i think.. it's diffrent model.. I900L this "L" model.. not like ours phones... (i think, it's looks exactly the same!)
i don't think the ROM will chane the bands anyway..
anyway as you asked me to do.. when i'm doing the *#2263# code
i'm getting diffrent menu then our Omnias..
i'm getting 3 options that one of them it's "WCDMA Band Select" and in there you have ALL the UMTS bands and there is "Automatic" option.. what says this phone open to all kind of UMTS networks............ (including GSM also..)

yes, it was suppose to be with "L" mabe i forgot it on Modaco forum
anyway i hope this is only Rom issue... but anyway i can't "Rip" the rom right now.. because this phone is 24/7 testing time and i can't "make it gone" from the test station to drop the rom to my PC
i hope there are more guys who have this I900L to share the rom with us..
anyway you remmeber the code that you can change the phone settings buy country?
the main code is (type it from the dailer) *#1546792*#
and the password for section "2 - Preconfiguration" is *#81230*#
it's looks like if we will have the code for the "Internal" section, mabe we will find something in there ?!?!
if we will change to another country.. like Austrlia or something.. the bands will change also? what you guys think?
Hi juvaknin I was reading on web that this i900L is for latinamerica and its frequency was
Cellularhone
Cellular_Networks: GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS850, UMTS1900
Cellular-Data;Links: CSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA
found this at hxxp://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=1446
change the xx for tt. Also wher did you buy this phone this info is real ?

[Q] T-Mobile 3G <-> Telcel Mx

Hello everyone, im from mexico, i just bought a DVP from T-Mobile, i think is unlocked cause when inserted my sim card from "Telcel" i can make calls, send/receive sms, etc, always have "E" letter besides signal metter, however i would like to use "3G" network, as i found on this forum seems to "E" means edge, and T-mobile is not compatible with telcel 3g, is this correct? just want to confirm this and i want to know if ATT version is compatible to 3G from telcel, thanks in advance, BR
As far as I know Telcel uses the 850 band for 3G. The T-Mobile version uses 900/1700/2100 and hence wont support the Telcel 3G. The ATT version has the 850/900/2100 band and hence theoretically should support the Telcel 3G. It is advisable that you confirm with someone in your area if the ATT version works, because as per specifications it should work. The TMobile wont work as it does not support the 850 band
Thank you
Thanks, very clear and direct, also quick answer, so if i understand correctly its kinda hardware diference, right? so no way to convert or configure an aws to pcs or backwards.. thank you!

It's not possible, at least on phones. Each specific submodel likely has different amps for whatever bands that submodel supports. They're (very likely) physically different.

[Q] Verizon Trophy AWS or just PCS?

Does anyone know if the Verizon Trophy will do CDMA on AWS with the correct PRL on any of the available radio software?
Also is there a app or a way to show cdma call info such as channel, PN, rssi?
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/buy/7/details.aspx?id=1685
It says "HSPA:AWS 2100" and that is the GSM Trophy. I think its safe to assume that the Verizon model supports it as well + CDMA.. but.. well.. AWS is new one on me. I won't pretend to fully understand what your talking about. XD *haha* I better go do some reading.

AWS is advanced wireless services. It's the FCC name for the band of spectrum the 1700 and 2100mhz range.
What I'm not really sure about is if the same radio is used for both CDMA and HSPA. The phone can do AWS if using HSPA, but it uses the cellular and PCS bands for CDMA. (800 and 1900mhz)
The issue is that the radio need to be programmed for those bands and there is hardware needed to make it happen. So a phone programmed for 800mhz can't just switch to 2100mhz unless there is hardware present.
The Verizon version of the phone might just have an extra radio thrown into the case that operates seperatly from the GSM one. If that is the case then it wouldn't be possible to use CDMA on that frequency. If it's all tied into the same radio then it seems like it could be done in software. In either case I'm not sure if will ever happen because you'd probably need to write your own firmware to do so. (It really wouldn't make sense for HTC to waste time seeing if the phone would do CDMA on 2100 if it wasn't designed to)
For reference there is a great article covering the bands here:
http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/article.php?a=99
There is also the full version of the spectrum chart online here: http://www.ntia.doc.gov/files/ntia/publications/2003-allochrt.pdf
There is a dev screen you can get to on the phone to show signal strength and a few other options. If you dial ##634# you can select field trial. You can see Channel #, band class, Active Set Pilot PN, Rx Signal Strengh, Rx Power (dbm) under the EVDO screen. There is also a section for 1x and GPS. I'm not sure if another option shows up for HSPA if the phone is on GSM...
EDIT: The best I can tell is that AWS uses UMTS/WCDMA so the phone should support that. HSPDA is just a faster version of WCDMA so since the phone can do HSPDA on 2100mhz it would be able to slow down to WCDMA speeds. The only time I could see it possibly being an issue is if CDMA was being used on 2100mhz and not UMTS.
Only thing I am seeing inside of the newest Verizon Trophy software (mango v3 8107) is that they added support for CMAS.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ShortMsg\Settings]
"CmasOperatorEnabled"=dword:1
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ShortMsg\Settings]
"CMASAlertOption"=dword:1
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Broadcast]
"TestPort"=dword:4370
As for radio, there is only one radio software.. but from what I can tell, the CPU/radio has all the same support as the Trophy GSM, but with the added CDMA. AWS should work, but only via GSM bands.

[Xiaomi Redmi 2] Is possible to unlock Basebands?

Hello. I have a Xiaomi Redmi 2 2014811 subversion which doesn't have the 850 GSM band that I need in the rural area where I live.
I have seen that the submodel 2014819 (Brazil) has this band and I would like to know if is possible to change the baseband by flashing any software.
In other words: Are submodels 2014811, 2014819 the same hardware with different radio/modem partition softwares or have they different hardwares?
I have seen that with other mobiles like Moto E 2015 is possible to change the region of the baseband by software:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/help/question-models-bands-t3163453
Thanks
I hope someone can help you with this
Hi, I'm Brazilian and got the HM2014819, as soon as I get the partition table I will upload it for you TO TRY of course after a Nandroid Backup by you. I will upload if the size match with my data plan :good:
Well, I don't know if you will can successfully flash it, and if it will work.
Going to dump the modem here in a .img that you can flash or make a flash zip
Thanks Lennoard, but I think is not a modem issue. I am on the way to Unlock the GSM bands in the Qualcomm, if it would be possible.
I have followed all the steps in
- Unlocking Basebands on MI4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4/general/unlocking-basebands-mi4-t2879685)
- Unlock all bands of your Qualcomm device! Use your phone globally! No bs! (http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...ad-progress-please-leave-im-updating-t2871269)
- [Q & A] how can i enable qualcom diagnostic mode? SOLVED (http://en.miui.com/thread-100458-1-1.html)
Now, if I read the NV_RF_BC_CONFIG_I (#1877) from phone, the value is changed and all GSM and WCDMA bands are enabled, included the GSM 850 MHz band.
But I cannot connect to any GSM band and doesn't recognize any GSM provider in the area.
Bad luck
Anybody has tried this way with success?
Thanks
Anybody changed the basebands of a xiaomi redmi 2 in the qualcomm way with success?
I've tried the Qualcomm method and so far it's not working. Whenever I tried to add GSM/WCDMA bands, my phone keeps restarting. But, I can confirm that I can disable bands. When I tried to add LTE bands 5(850mhz) and 28(700mhz), the phone didn't restart but after disabling all other LTE bands, I'm quite sure the phone couldn't detect those bands. I don't think I can enable it because well... someone with an OPO couldn't... and 700mhz is just really low...
I don't know what's causing my phone to restart everytime I've added additional bands. What rom and you using? I'm using resurrection remix.

Thanks. Now I doesn't feel so lonely.
I did the changes of NV with MIUI v7 installed in the phone and indeed, the changes are still present and the mobile works exactly like before the changes. I read the NV and the bands are enabled, but still doesn't connect to any different bands than before.
It is strange the behaviour you get with a different rom. The NVs should be not affected by the ROM, it isn't?
Which submodel of redmi 2 do you have? Is possible that different hardware or antennas could be assembled in the different submodels of this mobile?
Thanks

I'm using 2014813, I wanted to add 900mhz wcdma which 2014811 has, but I chose 2014813 because it supported more lte frequencies that my carrier uses. There's also some lte frequencies that both models don't support which I tried to add.

Ups! What a different behaviour! Is it maybe because you are changing the NVs for 4G/LTE? I only enabled all the 2G and WCDMA (3G) Bands and didn't changed anything in the 4G and my phone just works and detects networks exactly like before, nothing looked like to change.

Have only messed with 2G/3G so far, adding 900mhz wcdma is still causing issues for me. I can enable 850mhz gsm but I don't know if it would actually work because no carrier uses 850mhz gsm here.
What are the steps you did to try to get 850mhz gsm to work?

According to the specs:
HM2014813 Is "China Mobile 4G Dual-Sim Version". It Supports These Network Bands/Frequencies:
4G Network : TDD-LTE (B38 / B39 / B40 / B41: 2555-2655 MHz); FDD-LTE (B3 / B7)
3G Network : TD-SCDMA (1900 / 2100 MHz); WCDMA (850 /1900 / 2100 MHz)
2G network : GSM (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz)
The phone should have an antenna capable to work at 900 MHz, because it uses this frequency for GSM, then, adding support for WCDMA 900 MHz is not a radio issue but a logic one. Doesn't it?

Then... still there are no signs of anybody saying that this method works with this model.

I don't know if antenna placement is different but the modem between the sub models aren't compatible with each other. This is what I would need to do to get any signal at all.
With mztool, try selecting only 850mhz gsm and edit the RF BC Config as well as the Band Preference values and see what happens.
I think I might need to conclude that I have not been able to get 900 mhz wcdma working on my 2014813 despite the 2014811 having it. Also with LTE I haven't been able to unlock any additional bands.

Flashing the 2014813 modem on your 2014811 would probably lose your signal. This or this is what would need to be done if you have a 2014813 and flashed a rom with a 2014811 modem in it.
Happy new year to you, all. @MagMar I already try to flash 2014813 modem to my 2014811..it is no signal but imei n baseband are find..but my 4g card display correctly at lte discovery..so maybe you can share nv config value (like nv 1877, 6828 n 2others) that 2014813 have...n i think lte freq dependent with 3g freq also

While I've flashed 2014811, my phone does recognise the imei and baseband but it'll tell me that I have no service. Both models do share some of the same bands so it should be able to connect assuming both models have a supported band to the carrier. This is why I think that flashing different modems and editing the NVs won't work.

Mine is 2014813(running a mokee 60.1 rom), too. I've tried to add wcdma 900 through changing the four nv values specified by the mztool and fdd b1&b8 through changing the lte_bc_config nv value. So far everything seems to be fine. While, I not sure whether those changes are successful or not. Do you have any idea how to confirm that those added bands are working or not?

Unlock Bands is already possible

I have a ta-1083 with bands b7 and b28 blocked, I've searched in several places on google and still could not find something that can release these bands,
Has anyone with this problem been able to solve this problem?
I like the device, but it's already boring with this situation
Thank you all
No way. It's not going to happen. Quit wasting your time and buy another phone that has the bands you need.
Thanks for the answer, and this is very sad to read

Yes, it runs on 4g, but in bands like b5 and b3, but these are not standard here in Brazil, the network with the largest coverage is b7 that runs at 2600mhz,
So it fluctuates a lot between bands and often loses the signal altogether
I've changed a lot in these settings, but it doesn't solve 100%

LTE only option you can choose

6.1 plus supports all the bands. You can use this code *#*#4636#*#* to change bands and it works.

No, you don't know what a band is. You can't use the test menu to add additional LTE bands. Kindly refrain from posting this idiocy here.
I know what is LTE Bands. 6.1 Plus supports all the bands but the fact it is configured in such a way the user can't change it hence the network switches bands automatically.
The LTE Only option configure the network to the 4G but yes you don't have the option to lock a particular frequency unlike other stock Android devices.
I dont know about other countries but here in India I use Jio 4G with 6.1 Plus my phone locks into 850Mhz , 1800Mhz & 2300Mhz (Jio supports it) simultaneously depending upon the conditions in my location.
The Android one might have disabled advanced band locking (FDD & TDD) feature. I'm not talking idiocy here.

You are not talking about the same thing. The OP of this thread wanted to unlock bands that this phone doesn't normally support. We're not talking about "band locking".
Oh yeah this doesn't supports 2600Mhz
