Google calendar is now in the play store as a stand alone app

I already deleted the Calendar Sync Adapter and Calendar Storage so there's no Calendar Sync in the Account tab anymore.. >"<.. does anyone knows how to re-install JB firmware ? I need it so badly..

I (embarrassingly) have this same problem and cannot sync my calendar. I have found some other posts with Calendar.apk and .odex files for other phones; will these work across phones running JB 4.1.2? I tried putting them into system/app with a root browser, but after a reboot they were still not installed.
I have a rooted Razr M but did not boot unlock it before I accepted the OTA, so no unlocking for me unfortunately. Any suggestions/anyone have the .apk and .odex files necessary to re-install the stock calendar?

Thank you so much! The files in that thread worked like a charm. I'm not sure why I had trouble finding it myself in the first place...

Sad
Sadly, both the apks for CalendarProvider, and Calendar are not working for my Zenfone 5...
I have the same problem (stupidly deleted by Calendar Storage) and was really hoping this'd work.
Please help?

Zenfone 5? This is for the Motorola RAZR M xt907.... Try maybe downloading one of these and looking through it for the stock system apps or maybe searching through some google links for it

Google Proprietary apps

Hello,
I recently restored a semi-bricked G1 to working order running the latest version of Cyanogenmod. However, the proprietary apps did not seem to translate over, i.e. the Google Apps.
Any way that I can restore them or download them somewhere?
Thanks a million.
You're missing the market and gmail. If you are i think cyanogen has a zip file called google add-on which gives the goohle propietary apps.

I am also missing the ability to sync to my Google contacts as well. I will try to find what you suggested.

Just flash that over the top.. no wipe.
Cyanogenmod hasn't included google apps for a while.. they got all shirty about it and sent him a cease & desist letter.

[APP] Gmail 4.0 ICS

Looks like the new ICE Gmail app will run on the A500.
Runs fine on mine with Lightspeed ROM .
To install you'll need to use a file manager such as Root Explorer.
Go to /system/app and rename gmail.apk to something else like gmail.apk1
Then copy the attached gmail.apk to that folder.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=754326&d=1319033154
That's it ! Any gmail widgets will vanish so you'll need to add new ones.
For more info on the new gmail app see this article :
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/10/22/getting-to-know-android-4-0-part-1-gmail-androids-most-important-app/
been using this for a while, but thanks for sharing.
Only bug I notice is the email address being cut off at the top, but not a big deal
Oh, and the widget works for me. Fully resizable too.
working!
big thanks here.

I followed the directions restarted and now all I get is a force close. It shows the new widget in screen editor but wont let me place on the homescreen or open the app itself, anyone have any advice?
Upgraded to JOYE EGO
Nevermind I had to actually install the APK working great now, liking the new look any news on the new calendar apk?

Does not work here on Thor's rom! I had to revert to the "old" Gmail and I lost my widget that shows the 4-5 last mails received.
Any1 can help?
it works on Thor's ROM, as that is what I'm using it with. When putting the apk in /system/app make sure to set the permissions rw-r--r-- (you can do this with ES File Explorer or Root Explorer) and also reboot afterwards or you may get FC's.
Thanks Bloodfame, it works now...any idea as how to to get a widget similar to the one we had before?

Glad it worked out for you. As far as the widget goes, honestly I have no idea what the old widget looked like (never use it) so I have nothing to go by. There is a nice widget included though. It's fully resizable and you can choose which label to display.
@NoUseToRush - I don't know if it will work but I attach the 3.1 gmail image which I extracted from the old APK.
@Bloodflame
thanks for the response. The only widget included, at least on my system, is the one that launches the email client included in Thors' rom...not the "modified" gmail we are now using.
Anyhow, I can live without it
@ metpolds
I have the icon. I was looking for the widget. Thanks
Nice! This app work only on a500? Or is compatible with many other device gingerbread?

Not sure why you don't have the widget, I received the new ICS widget along with the new Gmail app

did you restart your a500? that or do a force close on your launcher in the 'manage applications' under settings.
this happens a lot with some widgets. they wont show unless a reboot or launcher reboot

Are any of you guys/gals running this ICS Gmail on 3.1 or are you all on some variation of 3.2? I'm still running rooted vanilla 3.1 and when I try to install the APK it comes up with error "failed to parse application". (I did change the permissions!)
Sorry ppl further question - When you replaced Gmail.apk did you also replace the "odex" file or did you leave the original one there? Thks for your patience

1) I'm using 3.2 and it's working for me.
2) You don't install the APK - it's manually replaced in /system/app
3) My ROM (and most other custom ROM's) are deodexed, therefore there is no odex file. You may need a deodexed ROM for this to work, as I believe there might be an issue trying to use the old odex file. Unless you can track down the odex for this version.
@Bloodflame - Many thanks for your answers. Never having installed a custom rom I did not realise the point about "deodexed". However I've decided today to try my luck at installing "Kekinash's near stock" rom so when that's done I'll probably try the ICS Gmail again. Your comment about deodexed comes at an appropriate time because last night I opened up the rom and found for every apk there was an accompanying odex and now I understand the difference between an odexed and deodexed rom

You're welcome. Glad I could help
It might be worthwhile to educate yourself on the Android terminology if you intend to do a lot of modding, flashing custom ROM's, and the sorts. odex/deodex, zipalign, compcache, kernels, etc. Learning what each of these do and how they can affect the performance of your ROM's might help with a happier Android experience overall. Never be afraid to ask questions and don't attempt any kind of modding without a full undestanding of what you're doing. Just my food for thought

Moto X Kit [Download] By Droid Scoop

Moto X Kit By DroidScoop.net
This kit is a compilation of .apk files and wallpapers that will make your device function similar to the features found on the Moto X. We do not own the rights to any of these .apk's or wallpapers
Whats included:
Active Notifications .apk
Moto X Camera .apk
Moto X Gallery .apk
Twisty Launcher .apk
Sun Beam Live Wallpaper .apk
Moto X Wallpapers
Your device does not need to be rooted to use the following kit, but running an AOSP ROM provides a more intuitive interface.
Keep in mind the Moto X Camera as well as the gallery will not work on all devices. Most of the newer Motorola devices are compatible as well as many of the Samsung Galaxy phones. If issues arise use titanium backup to freeze the stock camera .apk
Also...
Active Notifications and twisty launcher must be configured to work as desired.
Download found at this Dev Host URL: d-h.st/FD1
Do Not Flash From Recovery
To install unzip the file and manually download the .apk files
If you like our Kit visit our website at Droidscoop.net we're small but growing. Support us for more great content!!!

Unzipped and individually installed I apologize for not specifying that. The zip file I initially prepared was going to be an add on that could be flashed through a recovery, but I was getting too many errors and force closes. Also this allows for more devices to become compatible. Rooted or not.
I'm getting a parsing error trying to install the active notifications apk on my gs4. Im running a custom rom on 4.2.2
Edit: I'm pretty sure it's because active notifications only works on 4.3 phones. I remember this app came out not too long ago and you needed to have 4.3

I'm running illusion ROM 4.2.2 on a GS3 and I have yet to have an issue. I also have successfully used active notifications on a Nexus 4 on 4.3 as well as a HTC droid incredible on Gingerbread.
Try downloading the APK directly from the Play Store if the file is not working.
I think the apk in the zip file may be an older version of the active notifications app. I downloaded from the playstote when I learned it now works with 4.0+ and it works fine now. I just wanted some way to have active notifications

The kit is simply a pack of .apk files which should work fine with most devices. We have already tested these on our T-mobile Note II running an AOSP ROM. Please let me know if any issues arise as we will promptly configure a fix.

I got a parsing error for the apk download for Active Notifications. Does this require me to download the app from the Play Store? I did that before hand, but I deleted it and tried to install the apk and said parsing still.

Try downloading the .apk from the Playstore and let me know how that works; Also what type of device are you using and what OS version. I have gotten this to work on a couple of rooted devices on ICS and Gingerbread but I have noticed that many devices not running 4.0+ are running into problems.

Dynamic Notifications works in the same concept, but it shows a stock android style icon for gmail and texts. I am using a Note II with stock 4.1.2 TW.

We just flashed stock TW on our Note II and we're getting the same error. So the only fix I'm seeing for this device is to flash an AOSP based ROM

Yeah, I think I am not really willing to root my device at this time. Thanks for the help though. If you find a fix besides the AOSP ROM of my choice, let me know via private message. Thanks, but outside of the Active Notifications, I enjoyed the wallpapers. I hope the Motorola apps will work on all devices.

My apologies for the delay,
The twisty launcher .apk is the only working method to simulate the Moto X's Quick capture camera. I have yet to find a device that supports this native feature other than the Moto X itself.

Google Calendars not even showing on syncing options

Hello,
i have just installe CM 11.0 on my i9505. I had the same issue earlier with another ROM and though it was a ROM related problem. The calendar entry in my Google Account Sync options is not there. Even though my Gmail and all the rest works fine, when i open the calendar the first time it asks me to add a calendar by logging in my new or existing account (never asked me before as it should get all this from the first boot process). When i input my credentials to log in it tells me that the server is not reacheable in a flash. I have had this with both my G Accounts. Is it a 4.4 porting issue? Any possible solution?
Thanks to anyone that wants to give it a try to this one..
I've already checked the security options, Privacy Guard is not active.
I've also checked the connected apps in my G Account privacy settings and deleted double entries caused by many ROMs installs and Devices.
Have you found solution to this? I have same problem..

In my case it was simply connected to the kind of rom that i was using. If you try the Jamal ported Stock ROM from the Nexus 5 + xposed framework you should have everything working and as similar as possible to CM!
Cheers

Google contacts?

I have the Fire HD 8 (2016). I have Google playstore, hangouts, gmail, and the Framework installed and working. When I use Hangouts, my google contacts don't show up. Does anyone know a solution to sync them somehow? I've searched around a bit, but haven't seen any answers yet...

parse errors can be difficult to fix
could try wiping cache in recovery
or factory reset
could be other options

If we could get root for the 2016 model, it would make all this much easier
In case anyone needs this, I got it to work with root access. I installed Google contacts APK, and the contacts synk APK.
