[Q] Custom Tile Colors and Automated Bing Wallpaper - Windows 8 General

Is there an easy way to make tiles use a custom color, particularly on a Windows RT device? I'm getting a Surface in 5 days, and but I prefer the tile system on Windows Phone to Windows 8 (ex: I like all my tiles to be one color). I saw a program called "ObyTiles" but that only appears to work on x86 machines and only for Desktop applications.
Thanks!
UPDATE: I figured out that there is in fact an application that can automatically change my lockscreen to the Bing wallpaper, so don't worry about the second question in the title.

[SOLVED] Lost IE 10 immersive

I installed Chrome and set it as my default browser then removed the tile for IE 10.
I now want to try out IE 10, but when I use search and replace the tile, I don't get a live tile just an .exe tile, so when I open IE 10 it goes to the desktop version.
Anyone know where the immersive IE 10 tile has gone or how to get it back??
The exact same thing happened to me. I was also wondering how to get it back.
Sorted....Control Panel and reinstate IE as default
To summarize, when a Metro application's tile no longer appears after replacing it as the default application for a given task, you must reinstate it as the default in order to get that tile back?
Personally, I think having the choice of a separate "default" option for Metro and Desktop interfaces would be helpful. For example, right now I prefer Firefox or Chrome on the desktop side, but am limited to IE10 on the Metro side.

[REQUEST][Q]

Playing around with the Consumer Preview today, I wished there was a way to make desktop apps use Metro-style tiles. Is anyone working on a program to basically make a Metro app that just links to an EXE, so people can put in custom Metro tiles instead of using the stupid ugly icons?
The live tiles thing will be hard to do, that is going to pretty much rest in the hands of the application developers. But I think within a months time someone will have a program that allows you to customize the tiles to other colors or static images. The windows theme community is going to be all over this within the next few days.

What kind of apps would you like the developers to work on?

Just wondering what people were wanting the developers to work on for the new metro interface. Personally I would love to be able to use custom photos for launcher tiles. I'm inspired by some of the great screen shots I've seen for Launcher7 for android devices. Something like this Browsing Customization on deviantART over the tiles?
I've been using the CP only for a few days but I already missed the fature to set the tile Images manually. Some non-Metro apps look terrible with their tiny Icons compared to the tiles. Another thing I don't like is that you can't drag the Metro screens. You either have to use the scrollbar or the mouseweel. Oh and I think the Color selection is too limited. It would be able to tie the Interface Color with the automatic aero color, so that the Background has the same Color as the highlights.

[Q] UI Tweak

I was hoping to get the start screen to be transparent so that it simply overlays the traditional desktop and windows. I think this would give win8 on a desktop a much more complete feel. does anyone know a way of doing this or can help? thanks.
Someone here managed to change the background on the start screen but I'm on my phone so no link. You can start there and maybe make it a transparent image.

Can you try this link

Try change setting start screen opacity and tile opacity to your liking

My understanding is that the desktop is actually run as a single application on the Windows 8 start screen, so I don't think it is possible to see the desktop and the start screen at the same time.
I don't think its possible to actually overlay the start screen on the desktop but you could get some consolation by downloading the omnimo ui theme for rainmeter which overlays a modern ui interface on the desktop.
I was able have my desktop background on modern ui using the link provided (post #3) Its quite nice actually to use as if you never leave desktop ui.
You can even see a youtube video playing, or whatever apps you open on screen(not minimize) on desktop ui hover over modern ui.
Its just matter of adjusting the setting. My setting I leave tile opacity off, start screen opacity to 214 or something, of course with use desktop wallpaper box tick

this is almost exactly what i want. now, it seems that "start screen opactiy" affects the tiles opacity (or basically, the entire start screen). is there a way to keep the tiles opaque and the background 100% transparent??
also, the next step would be to be able to click off tile (on the background) to bring up the desktop ui.
Try Decor8

Very interesting ideas but I don't know how . The best thing is to post your ideas on the developer link and hope the developer implements them on the next release.

Manually edit tile icons in Start Menu?

Hello,
I've been searching for a while but I couldn't find sufficient answers on how to do this.
Is there a tutorial to manually make and set tile icons for any program/app that fill up the tiles as a whole just like Store app icons, without using any editing software?
The reason I want to do this manually is because the apps in the Windows Store that can edit these icons have to pop up every time I start the program that I have edited its icon with the editing app. This seems to be something that can't be disabled in Windows 10
Oblytile seemed to be a good editing app that doesn't pop up every time you start up the program you've edited its icon of, but unfortunately it's not compatible with Windows 10 anymore.
Also, if there is an editing app that doesn't pop up, I'd really like it to be able to also make wide tiles (not just small or medium squared tiles) since some editing apps don't support that.
Looking forward to answers on this.

Yes, just look for "Customize Tiles on Windows 10 Start Menu" on youtube or something like that.
Something that bothers me is that icons also change on the taskbar, when the program is running, which is something I want to avoid, and I don't know how to keep the original icon on the taskbar.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is, I can't find any way to make wide tiles manually. I think this would need an app but the problem is that apps usually always pop up for a very brief moment when you open the concerning app for which you've made a customized wide tile.
