small scratch on the front panel. dont want to replace my screen. can i replace.... - Galaxy S III General

the front panel only ?
i was looking at ebay and i found this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Touch-S...985?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4169ade3e1
is it possible to replace the front panel only of the screen ?
i honestly do NOT want to change the screen it self. as its dead pixel free, blotches free "those blank inks u can see on dark backgrounds when the the lights are off etc"
what are my options ? and yeah i get the screen protector option. i mean as a replacment.
its not a really big scratch or anything. its very tiny on the white side of the front face area

I wouldn't even bother mate. Personally I'm of the opinion that once my phone has a scratch or two, or a ding in the casing I'm less precious about it and can get on with life. A tiny scratch isn't going to change your life. Wrecking your phone trying to replace the glass might just give you a bad headache though :banghead:

I have one litle scratch too mate!
I don't mind though...(my S1 was wayyy more durable than the S3... )
When a few more stack up and it starts bothering me then i'll change the front glass and get a proper screen protector...

maybe you two are right. but i just want to know if its possible to change the front screen without changing the inside screen just like the link mentioned.
like is there a tutorial etc. ?

it is possible, but extremely difficult. You are more likely to end up breaking than fixing.

Yes its possible. There are a few guys in this forum who have posted full videos. Be prepared to squirm like a worm when you see it done. Scary stuff. A true test of patience. HIGH RISK though of wrecking the amoled layer. Good luck.:good:

Screen issue

Hello Guys. I have a SGS for two days now and is great.
But whem i see the screen when it's turned off and it is under heavy sunlight, i see some gray horizontal lines in te middle of de screen.
There are very tiny but there are there. And you only see them under direct sunlight when the screen it's turned off.
Should i worry or i it's normal?
For the record, i never drop it or hit it with anything.
I would appreciate a quick answer to know if i have to return it or not.
Hi! I have a Galaxy too and i also have a horizontal lines and also it looks like the glass is scratched from inside. But that is only visible from direct sunlight and not in any other condition. I say this is pretty normal so you dont have to worry about that you just enjoy your super duper phone)).
Thanks for the answer.
But it doesn't look like like scratched glass, because there is one line that is wide than the other(a bit more) and perfectly rectangular.
Do they form a large rectangle shape? It's the motherboard or something visible through the screen, you can see it on any SGS. Nothing to worry about.
I asked the same thing on another forum and was told this.
I have the line too, but it ain't straight. Under heavy sunlight it's visible on a working screen as well. Don't know if this is normal.

theres only one that has a ractangle shape, the others two are only lines
it could be the motherboard. i didn't think it about it.
Thank you very much for the answer.
Anybody else?
Incredible, i looked for this in direct sunlight and with a high lumen lamp but didn´t se any line or something. Now i used my 21 LED Lamp with very powerfull blue light and now i can clearly see a big box with strange lines on the top. Unfortunetley i cannot explain this XD. I will try to make a photo with my Cam and post them.
Ok, my cam cannot make a photo, the light of the ledlamp ist too powerfull and now the batteries from the cam are out of power... But it really looks like the motherboard of the phone. Just strange that i can´t see this in direct sunlight as others.
Someone in this forum says that is the motherboard through the screen.
Today i watched more closely and there a vertical line in the left side of the screen that connects with the other two horizontal line.
It has the form of a circuit. but i cannot confirm this. i need people who confirm this.
It is only visible in direct sunlight when the screen is off. When the screen is on, the lines dissapears. Even in sunlight.
I didnt look if my screen have some lines or not when turned off.. i dont care at all.. im just wonder why u call it as "screen issue" if u dont have problem with your screen when turned on at all..
Why people keep searching for some faults or some pathetic details.. and not enjoying their lovely device
These threads and finds just might fool more people and they will start searching for it aswell since they were happy at all..
just my opinion..
I' am really enjoying this phone, i am a former user of a N96, So believe me that i'am really enjoying my SGS.
Please don't get me wrong. I don't say that the phone has a problem. It's only a detail that caught my eye. And i want to know if it's normal. Thats all.
This is perfectly normal. rest assured.
Thank you guys for the feedback.
I'am still a bit nervous with this phone. I worked nearly three months to buy it. Paid $900 bucks for him (Unlocked). I live in Argentina and things here a bit overpriced.
So. you now understand the reason of so much questioning? And Jumpiness?
Damn dude was it worth it?

Every single cent.
If you had had a n96, you'd understand.
Double post
Sorry for the couble it's just to confirm that is normal on every SGS.
I searched it on google and find this:
http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s/140297-galaxy-s-transparent-screen.html
It results to be normal. It's just a circuit or a type of connector. Look the last picture.

What is wrong with my screen

Today is suddenly noticed this problem with my screen.
It reacts normal to touch.
Was it high pressure or fluids?
Hi,
There is nothing to worry about.
This is a known glitch.
Best thing to do ,is reboot your phone and it will clear.
its difficult to tell from the pics but i have very similar marks only much smaller, mine wont go away, i believe its a defect in the TFT panel and the backlight is getting through too much, if its the same issue as mine on a dark screen its harder to tell, but white shows up a lot. that kinda of supports my thoughts on it as a darker screen forces the pixcels to "block" more light coming through from the back light,
I thought it was like a negative appearance, where everything goes like a negative picture.
You're right ,it does look a bit vague on second looks.
If it clears after a reboot, then it was what I thought.
If it doesn't clear, then I'm not sure what it is.
A reboot doesn't effect the screen, to bad. Is my tft leak or something like that?
If i putt pressure on the screen i can move the white spot in the middle a little.
Thanx for the reactions.

i think its the same as mine, when you rub the screen on mine it can look like its moving but its not, its like when you push your finger on your arm it goes white then goes back to being normal, or in this case mine goes back to being wrong
im hunting for a bricked HD2 to replace the whole panel, unless your under warrenty i suspect you'll need to do the same
ive attached a pic to show you mine, its really hard to tell but see if it looks like yours the white spotes are down the bottom
Some kind lcd bleeding mate
If your phone still.have warranty, send it back

[Q] Nexus 7 screen diamond-ing

Hello, I recently bought a nexus 7 and in general I'm pretty pleased with it. However, just today which is about 4days after purchase I realized that my screen has little diamonds that were visible at a certain angle and most obvious when the screen is off. My question is whether this behavior is normal and whether I should take it for repair since it's still under warranty. It's not rooted and there isn't a screen protector for more information. Thanks.
Edit : diamonds are 5mm each

Under certain light conditions there appears to be marks in the glass and it's all diamonds tesselated together. A photo doesn't show anything but ill be uploading one in a while
I've never noticed anything like that.

Doesn't show any of the diamond-ing I saw but here it is. I could only see it when there were many lights around and only when viewing at an certain angle.
Edit : Forgot attachment
i dont think images will allow us to see the problem, maybe even point them out with a stylus ,you could use a phone to make a video panning around views, to clearly display the problem and youtube it here :good:
yes this is normal..... no worries.. new screens usually have this
you only get to see them under certain life conditions and I'm pretty sure these will fade away with wear & tear.. I used to see them when I bought my N7.... not anymore today... enjoy them

Alright. Thanks for the info.
I think you're just seeing the digitizer.. Pretty normal to see it under certain conditions. Mainly with the screen off though. You shouldnt really see anything with the screen on.

[Q] need help or advice

im new to n7....
and mine is n7 1st gen......
i gt a problem with my n7 display...in the white background there are some yellow spots are visible in the corners....( as in the pic. )
is that a display fault ..... i dnt have warrenty for my n7, so wht should i do....
It is hard to tell the problem without a clearer picture so upload some more pictures and try to make them clearer. Has u exposed ur nexus 7 to any magnets of any kind? Magnets could cause such a thing to happen to the screen. And if its not magnets, u may have to replace the screen.
If u can think of any causes for this please state them cause it makes it much easier to determine the exact cause and solution.
If you aren't covered by the warranty you haven't a lot of choice. Or you replace it paying or you leave it as it is.
Its quite hard to see from the pic but it looks like the backlight is not illuminating the screen evenly not a lot of choice there as others have already said either replace the display or learn to live with it. Magnets don't affect modern screens only the olt cathode ray tubes

thankz everyone for the reply's.... i didnt put any magnets near my n7 as far as i knw of....

Lcd change

My phone fell on the floor and screen broke.
I want to buy a new one on Aliexpress and i have 2 questions.
1. Is it better to buy the screen with the frame or just digitizer and screen and if anybody changed theirs if you have any advice.
2. I hade a white/rose gold combination and now i would like to buy black front instead of the white one. I think that there is no difference but i would still like to ask if i would have any problems just becouse of the color?
Thanks!
Hello,
1. I suggest you get the one with the frame > much more easier than without it, and removes the possibility of making a horrible mistake.
2. I don't think the colour will cause any problems, it's much more easier to manufacture the same screen with multiple colours than to make totally different screens. So I think you are good to go. But I can't cover my opinion with a fact, so there's that.
Hope I helped ya bit.

Hi its better to buy one with a frame and the color doesn't matter but since you have the gold version. I would suggest you stick to the white its looks much better. I did the same an bought an LCD with frame from Aliexpress and replaced it myself. Here is a video that will help you disassemble your phone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_VMcIX0hJY I would suggest you first watch the video before you start. I did the same before i started. You can follow and pause at each step. Good Luck. Its an easy task but one point to note is the fingerprint sensor is easy to jump out of its connector. I would advise to test the screen before you screw the phone back up.
