no love for the A2107? - Thinkpad Tablet General

Lenovo has launched 2 new tablets, the 2107 & the 2109
the 2107 is a dual sim, 3G 7 inch tablet running ICS. its very good for the price tag and fairs well in full time daily use.
i've bought one last week but can't find any root / roms for it.
is there a chance to see the tablet on xda anytime soon?

I am also trying to root it but nothing available

How many people have tried this. I am thinking about an A2107 but I don't want one if I can't get it up to JB.

My dad bought my nephew a 7" 2107 unbranded for christmas and jb was just an ota update. Seems to have good factory support.

I just got it for chrismas good tablet. Very fast. I love the hd display are there any good roms for it yet?

The update was the 4.0.3 that's ice cream sandwich not jelly bean.
The a2109 got the jelly bean update.
Sent from my IdeaTab A2107A-F using xda premium

That really sucks the a2107 needs jellybean. It would be much better but lenovo only cares about themselves. If it has jelly bean it would compete with the nexus 7. After all the a2107 lacks aquad cor tegra 3 processor and jellybean. Anyone want to add to the list? Don't get me wrong its a great tablet (I got it for Christmas)

I have a nexus 7 also and this lenovo is pretty impressive I think is well worth the Price, its a better tablet than what the Price tag would make you think this baby is a steal deal. Now if they can fix the crappy SRS sound in headphones I'll be happy.
Sent from my IdeaTab A2107A-F using xda premium

Who knows, they very well may update it to Jellybean. I've been nothing but impressed with this tablet. It functions perfectly.
Sent from my IdeaTab A2107A-F using Tapatalk HD

I highly doubt we will see a jellybean update. Lenovo is playing the spec game, as in the old excuser that the specs won't handle jellybean but were all know this to be a lie.

Hum... I've bought this tablet in Spain, and it's working ok. It fits my pocket and is able to connect to my company's VPN, so, ok. But i'm missing a pair of functions:
1) phone app. The com.android.phone doesn't exists. Is there any way to install it so i can make and receive calls with the device. Of course using headset, it's ridiculous having a 7'' device next to ear.... It will be useful for avoiding the need of carrying a mobile to attend duty calls and the tablet for connections... it would be enough with 1 device (tablet)
2) Radio; sometimes i'm just making a trip and i'd like to listen the soccer's match, or something. if tablet has the FM chip, why should i use the data connection just to retrieve a radio stream? I mean, it's on the air, there's no need to spend bandwidth (and potentially money, if my quote is exceeded) yto hear it.
They both are optional things, but comfortable things. I woud like to do it without rooting tab (so NO CWM, nor custom ROM), so guarantee is still working. So... any APK or so?
Notes: I've tried some Play store's apps for the radio, but they aren't working
Thanks in advance

right!
Tomorrow will arrive my a2107-h and i will try some downloaded roms, i think almost one can enable radio and voice call, i's all we need, this power is lost inside!
Last update give no help to the radio module? all site speak about an internal antenna...

I'd try the tablet out for a week before you do anything, the sound suck's with headphones on. I returned mine after 2 weeks i couldn't take the crappy wifi issues and YouTube buffering constantly and the forcloses cause of low ram. I spent extra and got a nexus 7, glad i did.

I think specification wise and updating wise nexus but two caveats
1-no rear camera
2-no external sd card slot(so important for some)
If you could endure that so nexus not endure so gtab2

I was thinking of the Nexus for the screen and processor or Tab 2 for the SD card slot and the Student Edition at Best Buy. Figured I'm not going to be using it much in direct sunlight and I'll almost definitely need expandable storage so went with the Galaxy. First Samsung device and I'm really happy with it. A lot of development options, had it rooted in 20 minutes, etc. The keyboard that came with the Student Edition is pretty handy if I'm going to be typing notes for school. I'm a fan.
I just saw the app to sd problem but is it worth the wait. Unless i missed the fix
Using xda app-developers app
Just don't flash cm9/10 or the keyboard wont wont work. But as for 7 or gt2 it really depends on what your using it for. Do you need a lot of storage on the device?
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Movies ROMs and gaming.the first two I can take care of with gt,but with such limited storage of a 8gb (5gb) tablet it hard not to fill up quick on other apps and games like Max Payne etc
I'm curious on this as well. I loved the nexus7 but it had too many quality control issues

Just reserved my gt2 after owning an N7 and the screen cracking into a million pieces. After watching some video comparisons on speed I don't think there's much in it plus dev here on xda is way ahead at the mo.
Even gaming there's very few apps/games that will utilize the quad core CPU. Its really a close race between them that basically comes down to the options you get. Better processor more ram better screen vs external storage front and rear cameras and better build quality.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda premium
I just switched from an Asus Transformer Prime (TF201), a member of the same pedigree as the Nexus 7, Infinity, etc. It is a piece of junk. GPS flat doesn't work (it did in an earlier firmware version), WiFi stinks, and the glass cracks if you look at it the wrong way (mine cracked from the keyboard dock...too bad since the dock was the best feature). The digitizer and screen work, but the glass has a spider web on it. Plus, Asus support is abysmal. They used to be a fantastic company, but something changed and they are AWFUL now. Stay away.
I would only consider a Nexus 7 because Google supports it.
Anyway, I jumped all over the BestBuy GT2 7.0 deal. It seemed to be the best featured device, the knowledgeable sales guy (yes, my BestBuy had one) recommended this one or the Acer, and with the special deal there, I chose the GT2 7 for $250. I am not regretting it so far. From what I have seen in this forum, the videos I saw on Youtube, and other Google search results, I think this is a deal everyone should jump all over.
For the record...I also own an Asus Netbook (1001P), and have built PCs with Asus motherboards. I jumped on the TF201 because of ASUS' reputation of making good hardware. That was my biggest mistake, and perhaps others' as well.
I was gonna buy the nexus but I really didn't want to have them ship me one as I wanted it now lol. Found the bestbuy bundle with keyboard and usb thing and WOW I love it and it's really amazing. Even just stock with root, it's a great tablet.

I have an Infuse with a 4.5 and it looks small in comparison, of course I have been using a Nook Color for a tab so I knew what I getting into with the 7". Using the keyboard in landscape mode is great!!!!!
As somebody who owns a GS3 I feel it was totally worth the buy. I primarily use my phone when I'm on the go. When I get home it is all Nexus 7 for me. The bigger screen makes it much easier to browse the internet with.

I don't get it, when we have an HTC or Samsung phone, we go to great measures to remove the stock Ui and only dream to have a pure android experience on it.

The only thing making want to go to the SG3 is that I can afford it right now. That Wirefly deal is sweet. It'll be sometime next year before the note 2 is as affordable on wirefly and by then, I'll be able to just buy it and sell the SG3

From epic to...SIII or Note II?

Going to get my new phone in the AM, and I have a dilemma..
My wife is getting the SIII..that's a known factor.
I however am torn between SIII and NoteII...main problem being they aren't carrying any NoteII's at Radioshack right now, have to order them, and no telling how long it will be until it comes in (maybe by monday, maybe later).
Should I go ahead and get the SIII or wait for the NoteII? Anyone have any ideas on how the development community is going on these devices? From my eyes they look about the same...but honestly haven't had the time to do an in-depth research for it..
Your opinions would be appreciated.
I'm almost in tha same boat as you but mine is Note 2 now or wait for the S4. If I had to choose between those two i would go S3 from what I kno a lot of the devs from this went to that phone so it would be familiar names there and I'm sure the community is bigger but I haven't look to much into myself jus an opinion

Ahem (just bought the SIII)...
No seriously, I bought the Epic when it was old (actually paid more for it than I did the SIII), and had it until, well, last thrusday...I bought the Asus TF101 right after the Prime launched...I don't like buying 'new' hardware, you never know what kind of bugs are going to be discovered for it. And the SIII launched last May, still quite new, at least to me
In the case of the Prime, it was a disaster and was quickly reissued as the TF700T and phased out..and my TF101 is still kicking hard..
Also, I am not a dev, so I'd rather buy a device that has a dev community already well-established. Something to consider, how long do you want to wait until someone discovers a root exploit and gets a good ROM on your device, unlocks the hotspot, and OH CRAP here's an OTA that bricks your device at worst or at best breaks root and you have to wait again to get root established before development can resume..
On the other hand, all your friends will think you are cool for the first month when you have a brand new, just-launched device that no one else has...I don't have many friends, so I go for the tried-and-true. Not the shiny-and-new.
I bought the Note 2 and returned it after a week. Happily back on my Epic now. lol

Get the Optimus G, best phone I've owned to date and has better specs than both the SIII and the Note II. At a glance you may say I'm wrong but do some in depth research and watch reviews on each phone and you'll agree with me.

Hello

What's up guys? Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Just bought a gpad from Bestbuy for $300. I considered long and hard about the nexus7 (had the first version), and the note 7 & 8. I am offering nothing new or interesting, just saying hi.

Hello and welcome. I'm really enjoying LG edition. It's a nice change away from stock android.

I also just came to the G Pad, ditched my Nexus 7 2013 for it. Loved the N7 but the extra 1.3" of screen was dramatic. Anyone else switch from the N7?

I did, but mine was the 2012 version, so my upgrade was even bigger

Hi there. New here as well. Got the G Pad a couple of weeks ago. Very impressed with it! Installed Root, TWRP, and the CM11 Nightlies with Nova Launcher. I was thinking about the Nexus 7 as well, but the screen size of the LG device is amazing.
Just recently got my g pad for $230 from Newegg. Thing is awesome. Feels as solid as an iPad mini and great performance with cm11. Definitely selling the nexus 7 2013 I have. This is the best tablet ever made.

Yeah, I kept both the G-Pad and new N7 for a week before deciding which to return. Both have pros and cons but in the end the larger screen won out.

Hi!
I also just got a G pad. There's an amazing discount if you are on the Netherlands, I got it for 200 euro. The offer can be had until Sunday, basically combine mediamarkt tax free days (until Sunday) with LG 50 cash back offer on their website.
Yep, only this weekend in the Netherlands you can stack 2 different discounts together on the G-pad,
so it sells for less than € 200.
I bet they sell quite a few of them since it's even cheaper than the nexus 7.
I don't think you can order from abroad though.
Congrats! Love my gpad, great device. Light, beautiful screen, solid battery, with the ivso case I bought, is my perfect tablet. Switched from a nexus 10 / nexus 7 fhd combo.

Hi People, I just recently got my (White GPad) and I Love it
Bought my white Glad last week for $180 on craigslist....so happy I pulled the trigger. I had been checking clist for weeks waiting for a good deal on a 2013 N7 saw the gpad and couldn't resist. Has a little bit of screen bleeding? Think that's what it is...really only noticed when screen dims. Any who.......hi all, peace and love.
Question though.....Is the 4.4.2 update out? No OTA received here...wanna try that out before I go all crazy with rooting and Roms. Thanks
