What to expect on the 24th for US Note2? - Galaxy Note II General

Thoughts on what to expect on Oct 24th for the US Note2 in terms of carrier differences (AT&T only 16 GB again like the S3?), any missing features at launch, if cost $299 for 16GB for most carriers-would 32 GB be $349 & 64GB be $399, colors only white & grey, availability dates for the aforementioned? What are your predictions..?
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/10/05/samsung-galaxy-note-2-u-s-release-date-what-to-expect/

Although I think the Titanium Grey is super shexy. I'd like to see some other colors available.
I was also wondering if the back would be different on the US variant as opposed to the International variants, like the original Note. The first thing I'd do is buy a Int. Back cover without a carrier logo (If I decided to purchase a US variant.)

I'd like to see a classic black but would have to see it compared to the grey & white before deciding. Would you prefer the grey to classic black?
Verizon now offers the S3 in black & brown as well (& AT&T the garnet red) so US carriers may try to differentiate superficially but I want the 64 GB model out of the current 2 colors preferring grey (which can sometimes appear dull online). Hopefully the 64GB grey (black option would be nice however) would be immediately available with an expected on contract price of ~$399?
So will there be leaks before the 24th...?

I predict $249 price point across the big 3 with Tmo rolling in at $329. $649 unsubsidized.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Since I'm buying unsubsidized... I'm praying for $599 unsubsidized... but one can dream...
What I'm really interested in is if the thing will actually release on the 24th...

I doubt I want to stick with Sprint (& I want the 64GB model) but some news is better than no news:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/16/sprint-samsung-galaxy-note-ii/

If Sprint is coming in at 299 does that mean tmobile is going to be even more than that??

The full retail on the AT&T Note was $749 at launch. I'm expecting this one to be similar.

How long did it take before the price dropped? I really don't want to sign a 2yr contract. I sure wish there was a one year option but seeing how AT&T doesn't give you any price breaks by buying out right I guess I should just sign the contract.

I won't get it as soon as I would like if it's that's price. Android phones seem to drop in price fairly quick. I'll get it after it drops to $650 or cheaper.

It's still at $749 at Best Buy, which is still likely the same full retail as AT&T. You can get the original International Version for cheaper.
For whatever reason, AT&T doesn't seem to ever drop full retail prices. If they do, it's rare. I think it's more on them than it is on Samsung.

I fully plan on using my Buyback to get the Note 2 off contract for only a bit more than subsidized. All so I can cancel my second line. Although, what you suggested would actually be cheaper, I'm sure.

Yeah, not an option for me since all my other phones were bought off contract (for much less as I waited to buy it used a 2-3 months after release).
For you T-mo fans out there, the note 2's up on T-Mo's site as "coming soon", no pricing or availability:

I haven't seen the Classic black in person, but if it's just black and has no 'brushed' effect then I doubt I'd like it. I'd like to see a nice deep royal-ish Red, and maybe a blue. If the Brown [& Black] had the brushed effects, I bet I could into them......

SGSII Launching at Bell Canada on July 14 ?!!!

Hi everyone,
What do you guys think about this source?
http://techfibe.com/2011/06/17/exclusive-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-landing-on-bell-july-14th/
Looks like we Canadians might get our hands on this device next month.
I was going to purchase the international version but now waiting for official release seems like a better option. Do you guys have any predictions for the price without contract? (Bell sells Atrix for $600 so It might be a bit expensive than that, this would still be cheaper than buying it online right now b/c of all the shipping and tax costs)
I sure hope it's true
I wonder if it's the same version as the international one, or if it's NFC enabled?
I'd really like to change my SGS for this beauty, but this time I'll test the sh*t out of the GPS, before the 14 days "buyer's remorse" period it's over.

This is good news for fellow canucks. After ordering it from handtec and paying import taxes it came up to almost $800. Don't mind having an unbranded and factory unlocked model though. And yeah, it'll be interesting to see if it ends up having NFC, even though id never see myself actually using it.

SGSII
I doubt it will have NFC, it would be nice to have it but I really don't care as I don't think anyone will actually use it for next two years.
The only reason I am holding back on ordering from handtec (390 GBP = $620 CAD.. price has dropped quite a bit) is b/c of the warranty and returns policy. If the device is defective I would have to ship it back to Europe and its just too much of a hassle.
I am not too worried about the tax/import charges as I will have to pay taxes if I buy from bell. So in the end I'll end up saving around $25 if I buy from Bell. And since the phone will be locked it ends up costing the same as handtec, that is if Bell sells the phone for $600-$625.
On a side note, I do look forward to switching from Wind to Bell or Rogers though. What do you guys think about the service, which one is better in terms of reception in GTA, Ontario?

Rogers for sure, I'm in Markham and travel to Hamilton for school and I always have reception in both areas... but Rogers plans are expensive, thats the only downfall.
Mobile Syrup reports the HTC Sensation is being released by Bell on July 5th. The approximate retail value is $549.95 which would be some nice competition to the Samsung Galaxy S II.
I should sell my Incredible S before these two monsters hit Bell
Was in TO past weekend and checked out the phone @ Pac Mall and the price for the S2 is between $700 to $720 unlocked depending on which store you ask. Already ordered the case via eBay and once I get the case (when this strike is over) then will get the phone. I am with Rogers and IMHO always thought Rogers had better reception than Bell but probably that's cuz I have always been biased against Bell and the idea that their reception is not as good as Rogers. =)

I was at my Bell store and the guy said the release was in the "third week of July"
I asked for the price but he said he was unsure at the time, he said he would probably know next week.
I also went down to the Rogers store in the same mall and the clerk there had no idea what the S2 was... guess it isn't coming to Rogers?

Looking for Advice - I REALLY want the SIII

I was hoping to get some creative ideas on how I can get my hands on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy SIII. I am eligible for an upgrade on 5/13/13 but I would love to hear about possible workarounds that could get me that phone a lot earlier.

I thought you're only allowed to do this for the iphone
Sell your current phone and buy a new one full price from your carrier.
Alternatively, buy a used one from someone here on xda who will inevitably feel the need to upgrade to the Developer Edition, despite us having custom kernels and custom ROMs working on our consumer models.
I wouldn't trust Craigslist, I've seen quite a few threads about stolen phones bought on Craigslist getting blacklisted.

Not sure about in the US but up here in Canada with our retarded 3 year contracts heres what I did (not my first time). I get a second phone line on a new contract for the new phone, do a number swap ($20 carrier charge) post on Kijiji (craigslist) looking for someone to take over my contract (carried the 2 phones for a total of 6 days). I just got rid of my Galaxy S2 (i9100) NOT LTE or HD that was on 2 1/2 contract by paying someone $50 to take over the contract. I would have gotten $300 or less for the phone outright which is no wheres near the cost of the S3 outright or the early term on my old contract ($550). The time before that I had an iPhone 4 with 18 month contract left on Rogers I was looking for someone to take over and them pay me for it (asked $75), they just wanted the contract (no idea why) so they took over the 18 month contract for free and left me with a iPhone 4 off contract I turn around and sold for $350.
If you're not under contract with Verizon and really just want the S3 I'd say look at other providers if you're into or want to at all mod your device - load custom roms and such...The VZW S3 BL is locked down, but if you have to stay with VZW, dont bother using your upgrade, buy the Dev edition...yea it costs full price but it'll for sure have a better resale value later on as opposed to the locked one, if you just want the phone and are fine with touchwiz then just buy it at a store.

This was discussed quite a bit in the Verizon Pre-Order thread ...
Add a line and get the SIII. Then, call Verizon Customer Care and downgrade the line to a feature phone (which you probably already have lying around or can purchase for minimal outlay) with no add-ons. Then, switch the SIII to your current line, which I presume already has a data package attached to it.
[Another poster told VCC that the phone was originally for his grandmother, but that she was overwhelmed by the smartphone and preferred a barebones phone.]
Surprisingly, Verizon will allow you to both keep the phone and downgrade the new line. I know, I know ... it defies reason. But apparently, it has been done. In any event, you are stuck with the additional line and all associated costs (.. $9.99+fees/month ..) for the duration of the two year contract.
If you do the math, the cost of a subsidized SIII 32gb obtained this way (over the two year contract period) = $249 + ($9.99/month)(24) = $489, and with taxes/fees/surcharges, will likely end up well over $500. In all reality, you should be able to find one for outright sale for about the same amount.
Or, better yet, wait until the quadcore version becomes available.

Anybody waiting until Black Friday to get this?

So rumors are showing that the Galaxy Note II should be releasing on the American carriers in just over a month. I suspect prices will probably be $250 like the Note was with a new contract, but does anyone think that prices will be lower come Black Friday? I haven't shopped for cell phones on Black Friday before, so I don't know if phone prices have fallen before in the past on that day.

I bought my Droid X on Black Friday 2 years ago. I got $100 off at Target on an unadvertized special. Price with contract extension: $99. Costo had advertized $100 off but since I went to Target first I didn't need to fight crowds at Costco! The Verizon store did NOT have a reduced price for the Droid X (relatively new at the time) for Black Friday. BTW 3 months later Costo was sellng the Droid X for $50. I hope to get a deal on the Note II on Black Friday--but not at the Verizon store!
Honestly, like its been mentioned...I'm not so sure that the deals will be that much better than the original pricing...I only say this because the device is rumored to be released so close to black Friday, that I'm not sure we will see too many places offering the device with a decent price cut. You may save a few bucks, but is it worth the wait? I'm not so sure lol
I'm probably going to buy it off-contract whenever it is released in the states. Odds are there will not be any sales for retail price on it during Black Friday sales. So I don't think it's worth it to wait if you're buying it off contract.

You do know that contract or not.. You're still in debt to them with a device? A contract your stuck for two years with a upgrade every year. or so.. With T-Mobile new finance option you pay $0 down and they say you're not in a contract. But if you want to leave T-Mobile today or tomorrow you have to pay whatever you owe on that phone still..
So a $800 device with $32 payments every 12 months for two years.. with a upgrade(Jump) once you paid 40% of that device off with the trade in of the current device you have.
Also AT&T has the same options now as they call "Moving away from contracts" with AT&T next. $0 down 12 months finance.
The price in that picture is a two year contract price. The only way to buy that phone off contract from AT&T would be to get on AT&T next. Bring it home and activate it then pay off the device 5 mins later. You can cancel the service after that if you like for free

this is exactly why samsung removed the sd card, to sell phones at higher price. if people actually do spend the money on 128gb devices they will practically double their profits because data/memory prices are dirt cheap these days. maybe its time for FCC to start some mobile neutrality like they did for internet providers, to stop companies from gouging consumers.

Do we have a release date yet? Anybody know, or want to guess, if the T-Mobile model will be fully compatible with AT&T? T-Mobile model is usually easier to root!

Samsung said the release date will be april 10th. They didn't specify any carrier.
Seems like looking at the leaked price, the 32GB edge will be 750 off contract. I have a one plus one and am spoiled by the 64GB it has.. Really don't want to spend 800 on a phone honestly and I want the edge lol

Tmo confirmed on twitter they will launch Edge and S6 on April 10th, which is global launch date. You should just switch to tmo and forget ATT, tmo is faster anyway or get Metropcs, even cheaper and still equal speed!

Pixel CANADIAN DISCUSSION

The title is in all caps because I felt like yelling
I hoping Koodo will at least get it online. As excited as I always get for new nexus devices, I am worried about Canadian pricing.

I have a feeling it will start at $750-$800 CAD for the base model. Looks like it won't be a budget phone anymore...

Budget phone or not, I will be getting XL for sure, I am hoping the hardware doesn't vary too much or I will need both somehow.

I have a 6P and will likely be going with the Pixel (non XL) upon release. I caved in and got the 6P last year even though I hate phablets, and although it's an amazing phone, I still find it too big to this day. 5-5.2" is my sweet spot. Will buy from play store directly like 6P and N5 before, easier this way especially for warranty imho, unless Videotron in Quebec (likely) or Fido/Virgin/Koodo (unlikely) have it at launch as they all have decent 6GB/60$ BYOP plans ; not Bell/Rogers/Telus.
I'll sell my 6P (pretty sure I can get 300$ for the 32GB still under warranty) so that should offset the, I assume, 750$ish price range for the smaller Pixel. The only major turn off for me is front facing speaker ; I will really, really miss those, especially if the bezels are as thick as the leaked renders/pictures (I'M SURE THERE IS ROOM GOOGLE, WHY? :'( )
And the phone better be f'ing amazing at that price (or really nice at a more decent 600$ish price).*
If the price starts at 650USD which in Canada means 845CAD$ + tax = 975CAD$ I'm out.
I will buy a Iphone 6S probably,

Just kidding!
I'll keep the 5X, it's a good phone.
Available now on google play store 1033cad ! way too much for me!
Pixel pre order has been placed ?. Did the phablet on the 6 and went back to the 5x size last year. Bigger isn't always better ?
I pre ordered thru a contract with Telus. $200 up front on a 2 year contract. Looking forward to shipment.

How much is your monthly plan?
Only $12 more than previous contract for Nexus 5 two years ago, which completed by chance in September.
Cell and data bills in Canada are crazy, though. I support openmedia.ca 's efforts.
Total though, $80? I would imagine half of that would go to pay the phone off.
115ish after Data and nationwide calling...expensive
Just ordered my Pixel. Added a new line to my account (Telus) and the phone was 0$ .. Already have 6gb shared data.. so a new plan is 84$ a month taxes included. So it cost me 17$ (sim cost) to order this phone. And comes with 100$ Google play credit!

Not only is it too much, it's just all around not worth it for the price compared to similar offerings.

Gah ya that's a bit much, i would almost expect the phone to be completely free at those prices.

My monthly bill for the last 2 years was only $12 less then this. I am glad it is not free if the change in bill would be lots higher and it would cost me lots more in long run.
$12 x 24 months + $200 = $488 Pixel at end of contract. Compared to $1033 as someone saw, it is a good deal for me.
Just preordered it from bell for 399 on a 2 year contract. Can't wait for it to come. I think this phone will definitely be worth it.

I pre-ordered 2 black 128GB's yesterday from Rogers for $329 each. The demand for the phone doesn't appear to be that high though judging from my position in the line-up -- I'm 47 in the line-up, and that's after placing my order one week after the device was announced...
With Rogers, if you pre-order, you get 2GB of data extra to add to your plan for 12 months, a free Chromecast and a $50 Play Store credit. And that's per device. Not bad.
