Need to know if in your area have LTE like me for example I need to wait till next summer (1 point for the International)second I already flash a new ROM from XDA to update my device if I buy the one for AT&t i'm not shure(1 point for the int.)this why I buy the 7100:angel:

I don't live or work in a current LTE area, but even if I did I would still buy the International version. Two main reasons.
1.Developer support is always better.
2. Speeds on HSPA+ are more than sufficient for me. If I was on LTE I would probably go over my data cap every month.
I attached a speed test screen shot to give you an idea. Just in case I'm about an hour Northwest of Atlanta.

I live in ATT LTE territory and I purchased the international version. It works better than anything else I've purchased. Whether or not it is LTE will not be a problem for me. I do not need to load data quicker. I'm not convinced LTE would make a big difference.

Argh. I guess I'll just get the international version. If nothing else, it won't have AT&T crapware and restrictions on it. It doesn't really make a lot of sense to spend $679 on one though when I have an upgrade sitting there waiting to be used. I'm so impatient, I'll probably just buy one from negeri on eBay tonight and have it by Wed, lol.
Does google wallet / NFC work on the international one?

if you're gonna stay on the ATT route, it seems like you're wasting money not having AT&T subsidize your phone. consider switching to straight talk. if you're impatient, consider switching to straight talk, and get the int version. i think you'll end up saving $30 a month

What about for T-Mobile? Is it worth it to buy an international version if i'm gonna be using T-mo? I know it will only be HSPA+ anyway, but is there a international version that is compatible with their network?

Not sure, I would definitely check first. I know that the Note 1 only works on Edge for data in T mobile .

That depends!
If you are in a market where TMo has refarmed 1900MHz spectrum, you will get 3G.

As people have said before, you'll get EDGE unless you're in a 1900 MHz refarmed area... although this thing is coming out in a week or so (hopefully on the 24th), so I'd wait til then at least you'd get a 1 year warranty and LTE for future proofing by simply waiting a week or so.

I posted this in another thread, but international for me is always the way to go. But @OP, you need to know a couple of things before you make your decision:
- International version will have better battery life cause of no LTE.
- better development support
-no carrier bloat ware.
- Factory unlocked.
The AT&T version
- cheaper on contract (although if you switch to prepaid like straight talk, you'll end up paying less in a two year span)
- warranty( easy to go to your carrier and switch phone if there's an issue)
-LTE super fast speeds if you're in an LTE market.

Good god that 4G LTE logo is ugly.
edit:for the record, I don't like verizon's either.
Come on. You mean to tell me that the Verizon "Data Card" bownloading at 50Mbps beats a phone downloading at 40Mbps. Look at the upload. Nowhere even close. NYC has DAS units all over. I'm not on NYC and you can't argue the upload. I can find a spot to show 50 if you want but I just did a random test and got these results. Just thought I'd share. Again. This is on a phone. Not a dedicated data card.

Regardless of which is better or not, I'm glad at&t is finally rolling out LTE.
I don't expect you to be able to answer these questions, but is the device you're using coming out before the end of the year and do you know if at&t plans to offer unlimited LTE data for a short period like verizon did?
Question - why does anyone give a crap? What good is that 40 Mbps doing you. Nothing on the phone will ever make use of that. Even if you are tethering to a computer it isn't nearly as useful as those speeds would be on a home broadband connection due to the data caps. At 40 Mbps you would go through a full month's 4 GB tethering package data allotment in about 13 minutes! What a joke.
considering this is on a fairly loaded network that is running in well over 5 cities I'd say its pretty good :-D
Question - HOW DID YOU GET AN LTE PHONE ON AT&T?
Also, nice speeds, obviously Verizon's LTE is going to get much better speeds when they've had time to get enough backhaul to all the LTE towers, just give AT&T some time, just like the time Verizon has had.
wow
amazing speeds you get there, I don't even get close
Great question. We all would like to know that one

I can't tell you how I got the phone but rest assured they are coming. Once the backhaul gets updated across the board everyone will see better speeds even with the 4G (HSPA+) devices. I'm not 100% sure how the data plans are going to work but I'm sure they will be capped higher than 2Gb. They will have to be capped somewhere or else everyone will use bandwidth all the time taking it away from other users.
That's all I know for now.

Alright, that's fine that you can't tell us, don't mind.
But just tell me, are we going to see LTE phones anytime soon, and if AT&T wants to speed up HSPA+ devices, they need to turn on 64QAM.
^relay that one to them for me.
VERY impressive but like verizon and sprint 4g once there's a lot of people on it the speeds drop.
But thing is all I see is a much faster way to get to the 2gb cap.
Verizon 4g is 2gb right?

I'm not saying that you will see a drop in speeds once everyone jumps on the bandwagon but what would you ever need speeds like that for anyway? Streaming movies? Hah. Maybe if your downloading one and don't want to wait or don't have wifi at home. Anyway, there are just a lot of new and exciting things happening with the AT&T network and the difference will or should already be seen by most of you now or in the near future.
Not only the network but the devices are getting better and better IMO (really unbiassed) I think AT&T has the better devices hands down.
For all those who asked. I can not say how I have an LTE device but they are sure to impress everyone once released.
Till next time.

AT&T GoPhone data speeds

I know that a few of you are also using your Notes as an AT&T GoPhone, and I'm curious about the speeds you're getting. I'm in the Sacramento area, and I only get about 0.8 to 2.0 mbps (download).

Is that actually unlimited or just advertised that way?
I am on the straighttalk 45 per month "unlimited" and theirs is advertised unlimited but in reality they shut you off if you go over around 2 GB per month; also some undefined daily limit. Other than that GREAT to be off AT&T. Wait - I AM on AT&T network, just not paying the same as I used to.

I don't know the answer to that. I'm brand new to AT&T and haven't even finished my first month of service with them. All that I know about GoPhone and AT&T I learned here and on AC.
So far I haven't seen any throttling. That said, my data usage has been limited to the phone and a couple of tethering sessions. I don't use it as a replacement for home internet and use WiFi whenever possible so hopefully I'll stay off their radar.
A postpaid AT&T account to accomplish the same thing w/ 2GB of data (enough for me) is a good bit more expensive. As it is, I'm paying just a little more than I did on Sprint but it's easier to justify at this price than at the postpaid price and I'm not left paying for a subsidy that I didn't use.

Didn't give them an IMEI at all. In fact, they never asked for one. Heck, I didn't even have the phone with me at the time...
Data speeds are mediocre, but I'm not sure if that's because of my Note or because of AT&T's spotty coverage. (I'm getting in the range of 0.8 - 2.5 Mbps) I don't mind though, since I primarily use wi-fi. I just needed some coverage for when I'm on the go, and it does the trick.

i got a sim only from att store , paid my $50 last week. Yesterday i finally got a note and its the first tim using the sim. I can not get data to work at all. searched high and low used every apn setting i could find the closest i got was using:
wap.cingular
proxy: wireless.cingular.com
but it brings me to a page shown in attached photo."to use data services you must have a data package"
if i use any othe apn settings i get the H+ but nothing loads at all as far as web pages or anything that uses data gets a network error. I guess they have this imei in their database??
Should i backup my EFS file and delete it off the phone? Goto the store get a gophone get mobile web working again, swap sims?
very frustrating. and realistically i want to see if at&t has improved at all in NYC before paying verizon etf's and coming back (i prefer gsm).
Thanks!

Any US Int'l users purchasing the LTE version?

I am so impressed with this device that I pre-ordered AT&T's LTE model.
I know it depends on if you even have LTE in your area but I have had the skyrocket and One X and the speed difference is off the chart. Can only imagine the best smartphone I have ever had with LTE.
I plan on comparing the two hoping that AT&T does not dumb it down too much and we can delete most bloatware. Another key will be battery life.....Int'l version last longer than any android ph I've used to date. Curious to see how much it's reduced with LTE.
Anyone else?
I have an Int i9300 & won't be getting the AT&T version but I do miss LTE speeds. The whole point of me switching from ATT Note to get the Int S3 is the quad core.

I'm another one torn between the ATT version and the intl version. Since I'd have to pay full retail for the ATT version anyway. But I am leaning towards the intl version.
I wont be able to get mine until the 2nd week of july which I'm kind of glad about because by then I'm sure there will be video comparisons of the two by then.
Pros for the intl:
1. Has Exynos(forget dual core vs quad. I just prefer the sammy cpu over the qualcomm)
2. Be able to drop my tiered $36 a month(I get a discount from the normal $45) 4gb data plan to a $10 a month unlimited media net plan
3. Dev support..
4. Dev Support
5. Dev support
Cons:
1. Warranty stuff is a PITA
2. No LTE
3. Only 1gb of ram(really might not make too much difference though)
Pros for the US version:
1. LTE(I have LTE in NYC)
2. 2gb of ram (although we will see how much the extra gb makes a difference, if any)
3. Cheaper up front out of pocket cost(but more in the long run opposed to using the media net plan with the intl)
4. Easy warranty support/replacements
Cons:
1. Dev support not as big, It wont be lacking but due to the intl version in multiple countries around the world of course there will be more dev's deving for it than the US version.
2. Battery life due to LTE(which I'm sure can be turned off)
The ATT version is $549(plus tax) comes out to be about $594.. the intl is $694(guessing no tax)
I would save $26 a month in data fees going from 4gb of data to unlimited media net data. That would save me $312 for the year minus the $100 difference in the phone price I would still be saving $212 a year. So in one year it would actually be cheaper for me to get the intl version.

I tried to ask some reps at the corporate store and they said it was fast. I asked them for proof by asking to look at their speedtest results and one said she didn't know how to do it and the other had less than 1mbps. I just left. For some reason, I always leave the store pissed

No, I currently have the GS2, but the ATT variant. HSPA+ is fine for my needs and I'm on wifi most of the time anyway.

It depends where I am. Right in front of my house(I'm in queens) I get about 2-4mbps, 500 feet down the block I get like 6mbps and around the neighborhood I get around 4-6mbps on average. Around Gramercy in the city I have gotten up to 9-10 but average around 6-8

My wife has a vivid with lte, in San Jose she maxes out the speed test app,I believe it was 30N.W.A.
Also,I am unsure how long the dumb phone exploit will be valid, I imagine att is working on a fix as we speak, and I would be worried at the ramifications brought on by the user since they knowingly falsified their contract and the toc.
I went with the us, I bought it off contact and the cheapest int'l phones I could find from reportable sources were in the 7_800 range. Plus I think you may have to pay customs fees, plus warranty issues I think would be a massive headache. Though I have never bought from a phone from over seas.

I am in Houston TX area and I have LTE on my galaxy note currently. Average speed for me is 26MB down 14 - 16 MB up consistently. Sometimes in some areas, I have seen up to 46MB but that happened only twice. But it is faster than my internet speed at home which is quite funny. I would use LTE 24/7 if I did not have limit on it. But, this time, I am seriously debating between int'l version and att version of GS3. Having ATT galaxy note for past 6 months and flashing various roms, I notice that int'l version gets enormous amount of devs support and good stuff. I envied it for too long. lol. I also think HSPA+ is sufficient for me as far as it has at least 6mb down and 2-3mb up in my area. I don't want to look at int'l forum and suck my thumb again this time.

The dev support for the US s3 will be significantly better than the Note, all the carrier versions are the same.

Holy Schnikes!!
So what's your data usage at the end of the month?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Guys I currently have an AT&T One X on LTE and I can say the AT&T versions of these phones run much smooth Internet wise. I also had an International One X and returned it for the ATT version because it had way too any bugs.
Anyway I do get 4 or so mb downloads on the Inter GS3 which is very nice, but the problem I come across is that the data signal on these Inter unlocked phones is not stable. I was driving around LA yesterday and I went from great speeds to no connections at all. It was showing E, 3G ect, it was all over the place. Granted the AT&T version would just show the same signal info even though it had no signal, which is what my iPhone was doing.
So bottom line is AT&T version for a more stable faster data signal, Inter version for everything else

I personally think I'm gunna swap for the AT&T version. I'll be on my third device soon due to phone issues. It would be nice to be able to swap in store rather then be Phone-less for weeks. My signal doesn't seem as strong on the international version. Not to say the us version would be any better tho. Maybe I'll just try both for awhile and see which I like better

Unreal Three UK 3G speeds!! WTF!

I received my note 2 LTE N7105 from t-mobile this morning. After leaving to charge and investigating how to unlock the phone (thanks t-mobile for locking it!!) I manged to unlock it with a great app on play store (UnlockUnit) and the N7105 inst even supported yet lol
T-mobiles 3g speeds are terrible where I am in London, average 2-3megs, I didn't care anyway cause the plan was to give their sim to my lil boy, while I pop my 3uk sim in there, happy whit their speeds for a long time, but now check this out!!! I cant reproduce theses speeds with the mrs S3, its still around 9megs on her s3 but when I pop sim into the note 2 its just wow!!

This was the highest speed, average for about 10 tests were around 15-16megs! 3 seems to have upgraded their network! Anyone else with 3uk experiencing this? My network type is reporting HSPAP:15, who needs to sigh up to 4G when you got this crazinessnessness!
That's pretty nuts! How does it feel streaming content off something like youtube with those speeds?
Effortless! No buffering at all. Netflix is like a dream. I don't want to touch the handset in case speed diminishes!
I'm searching google for info on this but am finding nothing. The 3g only note 2 N7100 that i sent back wasn't giving me these speeds
Its slowed down very recently, maybe due to terrible ping? Then sped up again in the 2nd pic, orgasmic!
Cant believe I'm calling 14meg 3g connection slow. I'll accept that. Please, my fellow 3uk users, please share your speeds

I'm getting about 3mb/s H+ here but then again I've never gotten good signal at home.
However my mate on 3 UK has similar 3G speeds on his iPhone 5. I guess mine should be about the same but last time I tried it next to him he wasn't getting great speeds either, seems a bit hit and miss depending on where you are.
Best I've had at home was about 5mb/s

I'm on N7100 and use 3's One Plan.
I get 12mbps consistently on HSPA+ in central london.
OP - Are you also on HSPA+? I noticed yours says 3G+, Is that just HSPA+? Cos 3 don't roll out LTE until next year.
I guess the modem on the N7105 gives HSPA+ an extra kick.

My baseband says LJ1, which I'm pretty sure is the modem.
I'm located at Westminster. So what speeds do you get then? If it's not hugely off, I would just blame the traffic nearby.

I was seeing a trend of only the n7105 getting the 4g like speeds but its good to see n7100 reaching the speeds too. Wasted my time returning my n7100 for a n7105
I can confirm DC-HSPA+ in action on Three UK
I am getting in the excess of 10mbps+ in the same location in my house whereas before I used to get less than half the speed...

Well guys, after 10 years I switch to Tmo

After 10 years on ATT and 5 years on XDA ATT I made the jump to TMobile :crying:. With there official press release on Bootloaders and Samsung intent to take over more corporate land, I just don't see a future mod base with ATT. But I hope you guys don't get stuck with a safestrap only like the Droid X.
See you guys on the other side
A lot of us, like myself are staying with att but using a T Mo phone instead. I can understand leaving though. I would to if they had better coverage.

I would be on Tmobile in a heartbeat but my work has a company plan with ATT and they pay for my service. So I'm kinda stuck with them. That doesn't prevent me from getting a Tmobile Note 3 though!
The development for the S4 is now pathetic. It only benefits those on May 2013 firmware (MDL). If the AT&T Note 3 is like the S4, the development will suck. We got lucky the first 3 months with the S4, then it just went down hill. There is still no custom recovery yet for the latest ATT update.
I'm tempted by T-Mobile too, trust me. But their higher bands mean worse coverage, especially indoors. AWS requires a lot of cell sites for proper performance. When I had T-Mobile, having 1 bar of 4G was a good day, it was then EDGE city. They are the only carrier without any lower spectrum.
Hopefully they don't suck by you.
My dad used T-Mobile for the last 2-3 years and recently switched over to AT&T...
On T-Mobile he was getting 2g, 3g sometimes, and half the time no service at all.
This is why I didn't make the switch, ****ty coverage, oh and the reason I didn't buy a T-Mobile note is because I would rather shell out $299 than over $800...

I get what yur saying but by that logic development for us early adopters should be good. Once they get this f/w figured out just dont upgrade. Naturally theres a possibility we may be stuck for a bit but even MF3 got set up with safestrap which is great for what it is. Some would say it re-enforces the argument of "if you wanna google phone get a nexus."

ya i think it would be good to just get t mobile one and run on att or just get the full price developer one. i had tmobile for about a year, but much better signal with att .what is the full unlock developer model number? i seen some on ebay but wasnt sure on which one is right for usa ? thanks for any help on this .sorry not to take away from this thread
Don't blame you. I left the death star almost 18 months ago and wouldn't switch back for anything. Yeah, the ST sim I use, is on the at&t
tower, but it's CHEAPER by tons. Were I was paying 120+/month for unlimited voice "unlimited" data....I pay 50 bucks/month for the same
thing with ST. I was thinking of actually switching back to at&t's MVNO because of the N3's LTE (vs my current N1) but now that ST has
LTE, I'll just buy a t-mobile N3, and go that route.
I wouldn't switch carriers for a phone at all... T-Mobile has horrible service where I live and work. I'll rather keep paying $200+ for quality service rather than save and have to walk 5 blocks to get service.

I am very jealous of all of you guys who can leave AT&T and go to T-Mobile. I wish I could use T-Mobile, but when half my home town is covered in EDGE/GPRS I just can't use them. Knowing I'll never have their 4G at my house because of their frequencies don't reach that far doesn't exactly sit well either. Anyway, best of luck to you guys on T-Mobile. Enjoy your truly unlimited data.
@YellowGTO, sorry to hear that. I think that was a bit impulsive and there is no way Tmobile has better coverage then AT&T. The most I would be willing to do is buy the Tmobile N3. I did not even do that one. I got the AT&T Note 3 and we will see how my mileage goes.
I enjoy custom ROMs, kernels, and recoveries too. I spent most of the time with the Note II with Touchwiz ROMs and loved it. Root is probably the most pressing for me but I can do without it for while. This phone is a beast, I did not think it could get any better but I guess it can.

You're right actually. I have all 3 right now. ATT, Tmo and Vzw (Sprints not even a contender). And while ATTs LTE service is indeed the best. Tmo has pretty much had at least cell service in the same area.. Verizon is and Tmobile are much closer in terms of performance. They actually seem to have the same LTE areas unlike ATT who has LTE everywhere. What Tmobile has going for it is the wifi calls, this is truly a life saver if you do business in any sort of convention centers.
Im still testing and mapping service areas with Signal tracker, so its not concrete yet. If you can manage with 3G+/4G Tmobile is the way to go on the east coast. The service is considerably cheaper, single is decent, and bootloaders unlocked.

P.S. That WiFi calling gives me AMAZING battery. I will update with graphs at the end of the experiment.
T-Mobile sucks in my area. There's no way that I could switch back to them. Sure, it'd be cheaper. But I hate search for signals. They are better than Sprint, but I'm not a fan of spotty.

Yeah with the 5 lines, I figured it would be worth a month or two to see if the move is worth it. 5 lines on ATT is about 360 and tmo is about 210. I figured it was worth the investigation.
