Android JZO54K/4.1.2 OTA for Nexus S - I9020T/I9023/I9020A LINKS NOW AVAILABLE! - Nexus S General

It's that time again! Android 4.1.2/JZO54K is rolling out to I9020T, I9023, and I9020A devices. D720, and M200 should follow.
If anyone gets these OTAs, please pull the filename from logcat and post it here so I can update this thread and also mirror the OTA file on randomphantasmagoria.com! Links will be posted here as they come in!
WHEN CAN I EXPECT MY UPDATE
The soju (I9020T/I9023) and sojua (I9020A) updates for JZO54K are rolling out now.
to wait too much longer.
For Sprint NS4G devices, you're really at the mercy of Sprint. Google submits the OTA update to Sprint for testing and approval. That can take anywhere from 1-2 months historically, so grab a rack and settle in. You're going to be here a while.
If you have an M200 Korean Nexus S, you're probably in for a several month wait as well since the 4.1.1/JRO03E update just began rolling out today (October 15, 2012). Like the Sprint device, yours is subject to carrier approval. Google can't roll the OTA out until the carrier signs off. Historically this is always the last Nexus S device to get OTA updates.

No, I want the over-the-air update .ZIP files that will get pushed to devices.

Where's the i9023?

The software for i9020T is the same as the i9023.

jorim.tielemans: I assume it will be the same one as for 9020t. Even factory image on Google dev page is common.
//ok, too slow

So what's 4.1.2? How is it different/better from 4.1.1?

Questions:
Does the stock recovery of JB i9023:
1) Have the backlight fixed?
2) Allow you to apply zips? Last time we got that permission or status error or whatever for the ICS recovery...

So has anyone received the OTA or is this thread in preparation for the OTA, just so its clear.

Seriously, I've heard all the 'just root your phone, just flash this rom, just flash that rom, just use cwm' when I ask questions... I want to keep my phone stock. Could someone please just answer the questions as they are? Just yes or no would be fine, thanks.

Full 4.0.4 OTA From 2.3.1 Odin

Just a heads up
I had to odin to 2.3.1 and as soon as my phone booted i got ota 4.0.4
This is not about Odin.
And the update is different than the one you get if you're on 4.0.3.
What model? What carrier? What country?
1920t T mobile USA.
Why do people ODIN the Nexus S?
The fastboot images are in the ODIN tar, and fastboot flashing doesn't have the risk of bricking.

What if you can't get into bootloader?
Believe it or not, this is NOT a full ROM package. If you open it, it's full of patches and if you look at the updater script, you'll see it specifically references a requirement for 2.3.1 GRH78.
With 4.0.4, Google seems to be releasing individual OTA incrementals for each previous build. So far we have links for:
2.3.1 (GRH78)
2.3.3 (GRI54)
2.3.4 (GRJ22)
2.3.6 (GRK39F)
4.0.3 (IML74K)
We still need the links for:
2.3 (GRH55)
2.3.2 (GRH78C)
2.3.3 (GRI40)
If anyone can help with those, I'd greatly appreciate it so I can put the links in my stock images threads for I9020T and I9023. I've currently got my Nexus S on 2.3/GRH55 awaiting the OTA link. Right now, it's still offering me an OTA to 2.3.6. Hopefully I'll get it soon. Please let me know if anyone manages to get the 2.3.2/GRH78C or 2.3.3/GRI40 links!
Since we know that Google has done incremental OTA builds as far back as 2.3.1, I'm hoping that the upgrade path from 2.3 to 4.0.4 will be a full ROM package. I can't figure why Google would bother doing an OTA incremental for 2.3/GRH55 since it was only current for one week before being upgraded to 2.3.1, and the vast majority of Nexus S phones (unless you bought one VERY early) never even shipped with it.
Yep saw that

Yes. I mean no disrespect in this, but if you radio tick the "Repartition" option in ODIN, you risk hard bricking.

I assume its only the i9020a that is receiving this or has anyone with a i9020t or i9023 got this?
I'm running the i9020t and didn't getting anything, tried it a couple times. Should I still download it and install it?

Ok this didn't disable universal search so that's good. It did patch nearly every system app, some bin files, new ota certs, apn list, framework updated, lib updated, minor update to vendor, a file was added to lib "libbcc.so.sha1", and recovery was updated.
Post would be too long to list every change in verbose LOL so thats all.

Lol means google is trolling ... but why just i9020a ? let it be every one :victory:
Perhaps Google found a bug in the I9020A 4.0.4 release that would have prevented upgrading to JB. The I9020T/I9023 ROM was presumably not affected.

Yeah if anyone can pull the link, that would be ace.
I swear I'm always the last person in the world to get OTAs...
:silly:
My razr hd is unlocked and on virgen will I still get notified when there is an update.
i just checked to see if an update is available on my phone as well using the motorola software on my pc. it says no update available looking forward to the update as well. I have the fido version running on t-mobile's "modernized network" aka PCS HSPA+.
The update hasn't been fully released yet. I believe either they are rolling it out in stages, or they did something like a Verizon "SOAK" test, which targeted a few handsets but not all of them, to verify no issues.
Once the update is fully released, it doesn't matter what carrier you are on since Motorola phones check into it's own servers (not the Rogers servers).
Someone please upload the update file so that we all can have it.

You need to be on Rogers stock firmware to apply it. If you're not, grab the fastboot files from sbf.Droidevelopers.org.
If you're on jelly bean already (from another variety like telstra), you might have to wait until the firmware team locates the fastboot files for jelly bean.
Can someone confirm if you can fastboot ICS over JB? if so, what's the process?

I am on stock Rogers firmware and it's still not working. I've tried a bunch of different things including using CWM to flash it but it still doesn't work. I get errors.
You can downgrade to the stock ICS rom from Jelly Bean in fastboot by deleting a couple of lines from the .xml file in the .zip file. I forget what they are off the top of my head, but I think they were right at the beginning near the "getvar" line.

Yes these are the recovery files pulled from the otas some one said they needed them so i posted them.
Calling them "recovery" files is going to confuse a lot of people. Can you change it simply to OTA zips? That'll avoid confusion. And let people know that the filename represents the version they're ON now (the version the file applies TO) rather than what it's updating TO.

I see Sam and I were thinking the same thing. That's why I asked the question I did because normally, those filenames are what was used for the OTAs and those are not recoveries, as Sam stated.
Thanks for posting these and updating the description.
Thank you for uploading these files. After I bricked my 926 before reading the forums I foolishly tried to restore back to 4.1.2. So I want to install this recovery from ap fastboot. I tried to use matts utility and copied your file to matts folder then renamed the recovery image, but that did not work. Any ideals?

Okay, oh well. The phones ear speaker went out from medal shavings and welding splatter melted some of the screen so I "lost it" and used Asurian insurance to replace it anyway, but the replacement is horribly slow. Like using a computer from 1999! A while back I accidentally dropped my unlocked xt926 and had Asurian replace it and the same thing. The replacement was so slow that I sent it back and was willing to pay Motorola $160 to fix my cracked screen. They kept that unlocked phone and sent me a brand new xt926 which is now the one with the broken ear speaker and bricked to boot! I'm over the razr....Moto X here I come! Thanks all
