[Q] Motorola Razr Maxx downgrade Failed, where to go from here ? - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Xda users.
A n00b incoming -
I am working on a project - where I need the Motorola Razr maxx to use Android 2.3.X, because of some software issues, when I upgraded the phone to 4.0.4.
So I tried to downgrade ( I know alot of ppl - are saying it cant be done ) but I tried anyway - my team and I dont have the time til wait for a software upgrade because of the deadline for the project.
First I tried google and did use:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586570&highlight=search+this+forum
to root the phone - didnt work.
Tryed to flash it with RSD = fail.
I did get it Rooted.
Then I tried too use
http://droidrazrroot.com/droid-razr...ted-droid-razr-back-to-android-2-3-66-12-173/
to flash it - but but it failed.
Now I got a screen with,
Invalid Flash Mode (S) (Boot Failed)
0A.6C
To return to normal mode - first press power key to power down
Device is Locked. Status Code: 0
Battery OK
OK to program
Transfer Mode:
USB Connected.
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system); Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG Version(CG: system)
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system)
After I had google this, I understand I need to flash the phone with the rigth ROM,
Iam from Denmark and phone is bougth here.
I have tried all european ROMS from :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362956
and mounted the XML with RSD lite - but it failing.
Where do I get a ROM I can used with RSD ?
Iam sorry if I have posted this in thw wrong section.

[Q]can't install roms, failed SBF, now what

Tried to install several roms but every time it says it can't verify the info so I decided to do SBF.
Plugged in phone PC downloaded motoflash driver even though I have latest moto usb driver and shows up as this in RDS lite
Code:
IMEI/ESN/MEID: N / A
Technology: N / A
Software Version: N / A
Flex Version: N / A
Bootloader Version: v0x00C106
DRM Version: N / A
Phone Type: Engineering (1D1D3410D773020000003C060000)
It goes through a few things and then gets to flashing but says FAILED phone is not compatible with multi-interface super-file. (0x703B)
I verified the SBF was the correct one, wasn't corrupt and was the correct md5 and tried a couple times with the same result.
What do?
I have this same issue. Can anyone tell us what that error means?
Depending on whether your sbfing froyo or gingerbread you need the most recent sbf of the two
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Same problem.
I am having the same issue. I think I may have actually completely bricked my phone. I didn't think it was possible.
I was attempting to use ROM Manager to flash to MIUI. It then went into a boot loop. However, it does not even hit the eye. Just the 'M' screen.
When I try to boot into recovery, I get Andy with the triangle exclamation point, but the search button does not bring up recovery.
Most of the time my XP PC tells me that it does not recognize the hardware. When it does and I try SBF using RSDLite (4.8 and 4.9), I get the same as above and the log have hundreds of these entries:
[0x0000137c] E(08) [1000] CPSTSerialTIHelper:rocessPingCommand - Failed to get DIEID ACK
I have Moto Driver updater 5.2 with the latest droid drivers.
I tried using SBF_Flash for the MAC, and It gets stuck on "Waiting for phone..."
My guess is that the component that communicates from the phone is corrupted. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks
First, to get into stock recovery you have to use the volume rocker once you get to andy, not the search ket (atleast seach hasn't worked for me, and you need to press both at once)
Second, you need to go into bootloader (idk if you have, but I didn't see it mentioned)
Third, make sure you have the correct SBF file (I use the triplethreat full sbf, which redoes kernel and system)
Fourth, I haven't seen a phone bricked yet, and I've been doin this for a bit of time, that was more in the early days of android.
Sent from my ApeX-ed, Overclocked, and Automated Droid 2.
I fixed my issues. It turns out that both my PC and My cables were having issues. I used a new machine with a fresh Moto cable, and was able to flash. Took 2 attempts, though.
Good luck
Great!! Glad it worked!

Failed to boot 4

Hi guys after having upgraded my AT & T Motorola Atrix gingerbread to version 1.83 I get this error: failed to boot 4.
how do I reset the phone? thanks
Flas sbf. Look in development for flashing sbfs. Tons of information. Also wrong section this should be under questions and answers section.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Flash either full 4.1.26 or 4.1.57 sbf, then update OTA to 4.1.83.
And what do you mean Gingerbread?
Unless you flashed to 2.3.4 HKTW you don't have Gingerbread.

commonsense suggests that, that's what he means.

What did you flash, and how? Is your phone unlocked?
I suspect "Failed to boot 4" is when a filesystem is missing a signature. (And "2" is when the signed hash doesn't match the data)
If you are using RSD and a Motorola .sbf, shouldn't be a problem. Please explain in detail what you have done. If you want a quick fix, after flashing 4.1.83 SBF, if you still have this problem, go back and flash The2d's PUDDING (unlocked BL.)
(This fix will only work if you have unlocked your phone.. but the only way you could get this error is if you are trying to use fastboot without first unlocking your phone, or you are manually editing boot/recovery, or making .sbf files yourself...)
Please provide clear, concise details of what you've done.
eval is right, I got both failed to boot 4 and 2 in the past
if you have an att atrix you just need to flash 1.2.6 sbf then the 1.8.3 over it, unclok your bootloader then flashboot will go.
My cell phone is Hong Kong release, flashed Chinese simplified ROM,"掘墓者ME860国行官方ROM_OLYGC_U4_1.21.0.DearTanker"
when the tip is:
SVF:105:1:2
Failed to boot 0x1000
can't get the "RSD" and "fast boot"mode.
What can I do?
Same here...got "Failed to boot 4" error...
I had leaked 2.3.4 HKTW installed
I was trying to move back to 2.2...Keep getting errors when flashing to 1.2.6 as well...failing at the step where it says "Switching the device to BP mode"....Please help....
Hi,
I got that error when I had an sbf flashed and then I flashed a system.img from another firmware. Such a mismatch would also occur if an sbf was interrupted.
Cheers!

You cannot boot into RSD by holding volume-up on start?
We are lucky, when our phones fail signature/hash check, we are dropped directly into RSD mode. This seems not to be the case for you. Also, this message "Failed to boot 0x1000" is new to me, and so far seems only to have happened to ME860 users. I suspect fastboot gets the kernel (or something else?) loaded into memory at 0x1000, see:
Code:
000D173C .Unrecoverable bootloader error (
000D1760 [Fastboot]: Fastboot Entry
000D1784 Point ..Failed to boot 0x1000..LOG.
in bootloader CG from an extracted SBF. But... fails to boot kernel/microBoot? Hard to understand how a signed CG, which passed the check for your Boot ROM (same encryption keys) can have a kernel/? that does not boot on your hardware. Unless Moto has used similar keys with some hardware changes that means that .sbfs from international ROMs are not purely interchangeable? =(
And this is strange, since fastboot gives this error, so it is alive and in memory, should take some input: hopefully booting power-on + volume-down would be enough to get the menu of options, which includes RSD, same for booting power-on+volume-up key ? The inability to get into any fastboot / RSD menu looks like it could be a serious Moto bug... I hope whoever posted that SBF puts a huge WARNING for users of your model of phone...
I forgot to ask the 0x1000 people...
During any point during boot, does the device show up in usb? Command "watch -n .2 lsusb" in linux would do..
Thank bro…. I’ve try this way “As the devices is booting hold the volume up button”
But it is no use … the device is continue booting … again and again…
If it is work … at the top of the screen will show “strating RSD protocol ….”
But now my atrix didn’t show anything ..
And the screen won’t show any MOTO’s logo….
Does anyone can help me to save my atrix ?? > <
Please …
Look here,Please:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14673911
Again, do you ever see it appear on usb? In linux
# watch -n .1 lsusb
and keep your eyes open for Motorola PCS
That is your only hope... if we cannot even communicate with the phone via usb, well, it is pretty much a hard-brick.
Who made this [email protected]! Others are OK with it??

How to flash your DEFY+ via RSD lite.
Prerequisites:
RSD lite v5.3.1 (or later); MotoDev USB drivers ( http://bit.ly/K59zlZ );
1.Goto recovery.
2. Do wipe cache
3. Do wipe data/factory reset
4. Take your battery out.
5. Hold down Volume Up and Power button and put the battery back in while holding the buttons - your phone will start in bootloader mode
6. Connect the phone which is now in the Bootloader mode to the PC
7. Start RSD lite and select the sbf file (it is recommended that you should put the file in root C:/ on your PC and rename it to something short (GB.sbf)
8. Click "Start"
9. You can see "SW Update in progress" on your phone's screen - the flashing is in process
10. The flashing process takes around 5 minutes, after which RSD lite will reboot your phone
11. Wait until RSD lite says "PASS!" and then you're free to disconnect your phone (*if RSD lite doesn't say "PASS!" after 2-3 minutes and your phone has booted up, you're still free to disconnect)
thanks alot buddy
but just wanted to ask that..im not getting my previous version of custom rom from the site..n the nandroid backup is also faulty..
so is it okay if i flash some other version via the rsd lite?
sorry but im kinda unknown about it...
thanks in advance
u will get indian sbf in the forum..search..flash it..
then start all the process again

[Q] Defy bricked, White led on top, not recognized by Rsdlite

The problem started when i tried to downgrade my defy to CM7.2 from CM10.
First i was getting a problem of "Encryption unsuccessful". i browsed through a lot of threads and decided to use Rsdlite to flash a sbf file.
i tried flashing the Asia retail version. It showed 'Passed" in Rsdlite but i got stuck at the Motorola logo.
i again browsed through a number of threads, watched a few videos, and decided to flash a sbf "DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CEE_ROOTED_No_Signed" (i now realise this was fatal for my phone). (till this point the "SW Update" screen on phone showed the bootloder version to be 9 or 10 (dont exactly remember)). The phone just died after this. It wont start . No Motorola logo, No Recovery Mode, No bootloader mode. It just showed white led when connected to the pc and was not recognized by Rsdlite. i realised that the problem might be Empty Battery.
After this i tried the McGyver method and finally my phone was recognized by the rsdlite.
but now during the SW Update phase the screen doesnt show any bootloader version. and the end result is the same. White light at top, phone doesnt start, no M logo,,,, just a dead brick... another problem is that even after i put in a new battery, rsdlite will only recognise the phone only when i use the McGyver fix.
Please help me..... give me a working sbf file..
i dont want to just give up on this incredible phone...please help....

Do you have Defy or Defy+? If you have Defy (which lens?), then you just made your phone BL7. Follow this thread and report back - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889325.
When downgrading from CM10 to CM7.2, always remember to format system and data to ext3 first! I made the same mistake (had the same problem as you), then I followed the above guide.
When the SW update screen comes up, bootloader version doesn't show normally.

I think you just flashed a bl7 sbf (Defy+) meaning your phone now has Defy+ firmware with green lens. If you've tried everything else and it didn't work, then do that as a last resort. Both CM10 and CM10.1 will work.

To confirm you've gone to BL7, you can try flashing froyo sbf. There will be a bootloader error. If that's the case then follow that thread and CM10/10.1 or MS2Ginger are the only options I think.

Yes, the camera won't work since it is green lens. The sbf you flashed in the beginning (DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CEE_ROOTED_No_Signed) made your Defy into Defy+. That sbf was meant to be for Defy+ users.
You cannot go back to Defy. Since your phone is now BL7, you cannot go back to froyo.
So now you can flash MS2Ginger/CM9.1 (by walter79)/CM10/CM10.1 or any 2ndboot ROM. I think you can't install CM7 also.
You can find MS2Ginger,CM10/10.1 ROMs by Googling. Download CM9.1 by walter79 here - http://d-h.st/users/walter79/.
HI, I believe I have the same problem... I tried flashing my defy + with a portuguese version of android 2.3, when I was at 2.3. Now all I have is black screen with white led and it is not recognized by rdslite. As far as I understand I have first charge the battery with McGyver method or other charger, which will make the rdslite recognize the phone, and after that I can flash it with a newer firmware and get it back to life. Is this correct?
Thank you!

Unless your battery is low do not use McGyver. Use it only as a last resort.
You must have tried to downgrade, which is not possible in Defy+ through RSDLite.
Do you know if there is any way to recover my phone? It is not being recognized by rdslite anymore. While rsdlite was recognizing it I tried flashing with JORDN_U3_97.21.51, but nothing happened.

The usual. Update drivers and RSDLite, make sure you are in bootloader mode. If all else fails, go McGyver and get RSDLite to recognise the phone.

Y U FLASH ECLAIR SBF? You happened to find the retarded Eclair SBF that has a CG version of 5. Make sure that you are in bootloader, then make sure that it is really a low battery problem (either the phone doesn't turn on at all, including regular boot, bootloader or recovery) or it says "battery low, cannot program" in bootloader.

From my Experience ::
1. cross your fingers :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
2.Use the Mcgyvor's method to get your phone recognized by rsdlite. (Only as a last resort)

You're gonna have to wait, buddy. It says right up on the website: "Quit e-mailing me about "no links" lol ..... there was a HDD failure - links are being recovered (will take some time)."
Right now only the 2012 and 2013 phones are up (etc. Droid Razr, Droid Razr HD, Electrify M, Photon Q).
Unless someone can upload the huge-a** file to some file-sharing service, you're out of luck. Sorry. I don't even have the Defy SBFs anymore.

Droid Razr M Stuck at AP Fastboot Flash mode Rooted

Well, hello everyone
I was hoping it would not come to this, but this is a dire emergency. I am sort of new to this as well.
My Droid Razr M or (xt907) was boring so I rooted it. After doing so I wanted to look through some settings and stuff to see what it could do. I tried to add partitions to my sd card along the line and when I did so I must have chosen the wrong place, even though it said SD and it did not crash when i did whatever it was. I was using an app to make partitions I forget the name, but when I did so it asked to restart and after it did it showed the AP fastboot Flash mode screen
this is what it shows exactly...
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Device is LOCKED, Status Code: 0

Failed to hab check for gpt_backup: 0x35

I have no clue what to do, and I really need my phone. I dont have any knowledge of android programing.
Someone please just help me.
