Help with AT&T 8525

Hi everyone
I just purchased this phone or pda off ebay and I am going to be signing up with att. Right now I can use it because I have been given 30 day trial. I love it but I am having trouble with some aspects of it. There is so much to know. One of the problems I have had is sending email through ebay. I bougth this to do business. If i try to answer a question through my ebay messages when I push to send the reply message nothing happens. I also try to access tmobile to make a payment and when i enter password and log on it wont log on, the page just sits there. Are there tweak for this. Also on craiglist I tried to post an ad an when I went to post it I got a message that said unable to process request. Any help or suggestion fo my new phone in reagrd to tweaking it will help. I have also noticed that aol messages loads slowly on egde. Are there any tweaks for this. It can take forever. I know I have a lot to lear and this is my first smatphone and I am excited about it but I am also lost. Thanks in advance for any sugestion or help

first thing to do is to start looking at custom Roms, the operating system of your device, and find one that will do what you are looking for.
then if you decide to upgrade, then read this very closely and follow the instruction to the letter,

the search on these two site are great, BTw welcome onboard .

most of the problems that you mentioned could just be a browser problem, lots of pages dont work the same, but the general consensus is that PIE blows, you might want to try a different browser. opera, and opera mini seems to be very popular. I feel obligated to mention menneisyys' guides on browser which you can find in the wiki (otherwise he's gonna butt in and mention it himself in this thread ).

Thank you so much. I believe I have WM6 on my device Im not sure if it came from att or was downloaded. How would I check to see if WM6 is on my phone. If it is do I go to the next step and install Olipro v7 2.10 I guess this replaces PIE if im right. Im learning but slowly. Thank you again this is helping me tremendously

Thank you for the great tips. I am starting to feel better. I had heard about these tweaks but did not know how to go about them. I needed to ask. Do I need to activesync my device to upload these programs. Thank you in advance for the help it truly is greatly appreciated and what is bicking your device mean. you can be sure I wont be doing anything till I understan what im doing fully.

those links are all about flashing roms, and i dont think you want to go that route yet. learn how to use your device first, only then you can start looking at upgrading roms.

I will definitly take your advice on that and stay clar of that.

Another great tool to use to learn, is to click the "New Posts" button at the top, and read posts that related to the (8525) Hermes forums, even if you do not understand just what they are discussing, in time you will pick up a lot of a useful info.
This is what i do several times a week in the evenings.

im new to this forum. I just got my wing a week ago and love it. I've read up on pretty much everything, but when it comes to the operamini browser, im a little lost. I actually have it installed and working. I am looking for the signed version of 4.1. If anyone could lead me there or even better download the program to this thread, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey, has anyone used this before? http://www.skyfire.com/ read a couple of reveiws and it looks pretty good for browsing the web and a few people have said that it can open most imbeded vids on many websites! does anyone know if this is true or not? Also id very much like to change the default browser in TF3D from opera to this?

So many questions

Im sorry but this may be a long post and I dont even know if it goes here..
I had a wing about 1 year ago and i sold it because i had no idea that this web site even here and i had no idea how to use it. I mainly got rid of it because it was really slow and the touch screen you had to use that stylus. Now that I found this website I want to get the wing again. I have been reading and reading for like the past week and i read the guides and for some reason I still dont understand how to flash new roms and everything. so im wondering if someone would be willing to help me step by step over aim or something when i get my wing sometime with in the next week.
also i see a lot of people are having problems with the wing with applications not working and sms and mms and all other things not working and all that.. is that something that happens when you flash a new rom or what is the cause?
also is there a facebook or myspace application i can put on my wing? i am addicted to facebook and myspace..
also if a new rom is flashed would i still be able to download applications from other websites like handago and they will still work with the rom?
I think thats all the questions that i have.. if i have more i will post something else. Thanks in advance for the responses that i may get! everything is appreciated.

havent run into an app that is solely for for those but i use opera mini its free and works wonderful for other web pages as well

yep the chef who cooks the roms here do not lock installations on aps

so any rom that i put on there i can put any applications on there that i want also?
also for the touch roms does it make it easier to use your finger? i remember when i had the wing before i always had to use the stylus.. anyone out there willing to help me when i get my wing to flash the roms..
I wish that there were more pictures on here of the roms so i will know what i am flashing.

that is a question of the interface usually u will still have to use the stylus but some of the roms UI are finger friendly

i got a Question um with cooked rom for the tmobile wing have a working myfave bc i flashed the manilla rom and i cant get myface tab to work

if i remember manilla will not work with the fav 5 today icon since it doesnt support them

Opera problems and Flash 7

Hi guys , i've just installed Adobe Flash player 7 for pocket pc an i see that some problems appeared, that i couldn't find any solutions on this forum , or at least not a single thread that underlines all issues. Therefor i am going to make a list of problems i encounter , and possible many others , and hopefuly some of you great developers will figure out a solution.
So after installing :
- on-screen keyboard seems to pop out every time a site that has flash in it is accessed , and it pops out even if no text box is selected. i installed nullkbd cab but this doesn't solve the problem , and it remains annoying. even if no kybd is diplayed , the black bar at the bottom still appears and occupyes the visited page.
- Opera seems to randomly crash now and then , especiallly when opening flash sites , but i repeat , not all the time.
As an addon to this thread,in order to try and unite all problems in opera i would like to say that when using search bar in Opera this disappears after a short period of time , mabye it will appear a solution for this too.
Again i would like to say that i know that threads regarding this issues are allready opened , but i would like to unite this problems into a single , easyer to follow thread.
If there is a mistake in opening this thread then i kindly ask for a moderator to delete my post. Thank you.

1. Yes the keyboard always appears like that
2. Usually we use FlashLite 3.1 rather. And current builds of opera crash sometimes...

there are different builds of the opera-browser.
in the newest (afaik) you are unable to press links if you are not zommet-in. that sucks....cause there are websites using flash-banners that scroll always to the middle of the seen screen. if you zoom out, you can see the close-button. if you zoom in, it's right byside the seen screen. if you scroll to the right, the falsh-banner scrolls with xou

I face the same problem. My build-in Opera crashes sometimes (quite usually) and don't know how to solve. Anyone can help me?
