[Q] I can't go to recovery:( - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i Can't go to recovery?
anybody can help me????

Is your nexus unlocked? Try one of the tutorials / unlock tools in the dev section.
Getting into recovery mode: Push and hold the volume up and down buttons and then push the on/off button. you should switch to the recovery mode with the volume keys and confirm with on/off.

nobody can help me?

There is a bug in the bootloader where you cannot go to recovery from it without a computer.
Connect to a computer, reboot to bootloader and then go to recovery from there.

Or just install quick boot from playstore

Nope it doesn't work. I'm having the same issue but i'm getting the android with the triangle every time I try to enter the recovery regardless of whether its from the bootloader or via adb reboot recovery. I restored the stock JRO03D factory image from fastboot but the recovery doesn't seem to be written. I tried both locked and unlocked bootloader while restoring the N7 to stock but that didn't work either. It's such a PITA considering i'm RMA on a screen defect and I can't seem to restore it to total stock.
Can anybody help me? Please?

Just make sure the computer is on
Then connect it via USB
Hold power+vol down as you normally would and go to bootloader
Select recovery, and it should not stay on the google logo this time.
You might need fastboot/adb drivers installed, I don't know. You can get them from a toolkit. Its easy with adb to get to recovery, all you have to do is connect and type "adb reboot recovery" in a command prompt.

Have you tried to rename original recovery files in /system before flashing a custom recovery?

[Q] Broken&Locked N4, need your help..!

Hi guys !
I need your help for trying to recover my information from my Nexus 4... (Thanks in advance)
First, my N4 is:
With the screen cracked, so, the bottom half of the screen is not responding to any touch
Locked with a lock pattern (and because of the damaged screen, I can't unlock the phone)
With stock Android
With USB debugging on
Not rooted
With no other modification whatsoever (No custom ROM or recovery mode, etc)
First I tried the obvious, I connected the N4 to my computer expecting a miracle; as the phone is locked, and I can't unlock it, ADB just didn't worked.
I also tried sending a .zip thought "adb sideload" (using the stock recovery mode) to delete the files where the lock pattern is, but an "signature verification error" occurred (because the phone is not rooted, I guess). I've tried to delete the files with "adb -d shell" but (obviously) as ADB is not working, a "device not found" error showed up.
So I guess the question here is... What are my options ? Is there any way I can recover my photos and files ?
Thanks in advance!
Try going into recovery and using adb from there. Turn off the phone then turn it boot into the bootloader using volume down and power. Use the volume rockers to scroll and highlight Recovery mode, then use power to select it. Once in recovery press and hold power, then volume up to enter the menu. Then try "adb devices", and if the phone is recognized you can use what you want.

Hi chromium96 !
That didn't work.. :S
Any other idea ?
Thanks for replying !
Flash a custom recovery and boot into it... I think custom recoveries support adb.. If USB debugging is ON and proper drivers are installed on your PC, you can do 'adb pull' for the necessary files

To flash the recovery you will need to unlock your bootloader which is meant to wipe all your data. However if you flash the recovery right after unlocking the bootloader (no reboot in between) the data should not get wiped.

It is true. Ive done it successfully on several n4's and its even been talked about a couple times on xda: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266928
Yes.. I have done that too.. It doesn't wipe the data.. Just flash cwm, right after the boot loader unlock..

[Q] Flashing from recovery

I did a disaster with my new G2. I installed TWRP recovery and CM10.2, and when I tried to install another ROM I wiped everything, ROM included. The phone now goes to recovery, but does not have a ROM installed.
Is it possible to mount, maybe in Linux, the phone as mass storage? When in Windows I type adb devices in the command prompt with my phone in recovery mode, my PC does not list my phone, so I can't use ADB Sideload.
If I buy a cable like this [-usb OTG cable, XDA does not allow me to post an image-]
will I be able to connect a USB flash drive with a new ROM and flash that?
Thanks in advance
Alessandro
I'm sorry for my post: I panicked. Solved the problem by using download mode (volume up and plug USB cable) and flashing the stock firmware.

This doesn't work with new KK bootloader. You must flash the Dhacker's updated recovery you have tried. Try it again, it should work.
I don't know what exactly the mfastboot_v2 is, if it doesn't work, try normal fastboot

So step by step:
1) download this file to your PC: https://app.box.com/s/oyz8q1wc3ubkgspmiizt
2) extract it somewhere. For example in C:\Android
3) download recovery from this thread (first post): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2747535
4) move the recovery to C:\Android and rename to something short, for example cwm.img
5) open terminal on your PC (ctrl+alt+delete> task manager> new task> type "cmd")
6) type
cd C:\Android
Click to collapse
7) now flash the recovery. Type
fastboot flash recovery cwm.img
Click to collapse
8) Go to recovery and select reboot there. It will ask if you want to fix root, select yes. When phone powers up, download some Superuser app from play store to get control over root permission

Bricked MX4 (non-Ubuntu Ed.) - Any Chance?

Hello All. There is such a problem, a solution which can be find only on this forum... I have bricked MX4 (M460 - Universal Model, Non International) Flyme Ed., when I tried to flash uboot.img from 4.5.5I, but my phone can work only with uboot.img from A firmware.
Now my phone can't boot, screen is always off, can't go in Recovery. No vibro and sound, real BRICK :cyclops:
Phone can connect to PC only with VOL DOWN + POWER. I tried to unbrick with method for Ubuntu Ed., but it was unsuccessfully... (http://forum.xda-developers.com/meizu-mx/general/meizu-mx4-how-to-flash-ubuntu-touch-t3210039)
In Device Manager my phone now recognize like "PreLoader USB VCOM Port". When i try to flash Ubuntu ROM, i have 5000 Error (BROM ERROR: S_AUTH_HANDLE_IS_NOT_READY). On fastboot commands does not respond.
In use now I have MX5 International, but I do not want to leave MX4 with nothing to do. Any ideas to rescue this Chinese scamp?
