this is about post ver. 2.0 Merruk kernel install pertaining to #4833
http://webchat.freenode.net/ and type: /join #galaxy_y to meet THE verY guYs on IRC text chat...
link list:
tagged Merruk main threads !!
#4833 Okt 7th release post , 2012 latest Developer Edition de luxe Version Build #206
#4820 Okt 7th instructions for #4833 and ext4-fs-converter ... pack attached
#3944 Sept. 24th MT-2.5 ver. Kernel, Developer Edition 4 build #164 ; #3944 instructions mostly apply for #4833 too
#4992 mai77 report & instructions on #4833
#4820 states: "If it is the first time you install merruk kernel, flash a working Merruk kernel like Pre-final 2.0 via Odin." (confirmed working!)
Okt 7th 2012, Developer Edition Deluxe Ver. Build 206 is an "all-in-one-file" release ! (kernel-ext4 converter, binary reset are integrated). The filename is still "Ext4_Converter-signed.zip" in #4833 even though it contains the kernel too, together with converter asf..
Additionally, you need an older kernel from #3944 (#3944 is MT-2.5 and confirmed working by mai77, like Ver. MT-2.0 "pre-final" kernel) to gain proper CWM as a prerequisite; this particular older kernel does not need ext4-fs but uses rfs instead ; flash as the PDA part in ODIN; only later do install #4833
files you need:
Elite version modules copy into /system/lib/modules on internal storage (optional download) : http://www.mediafire.com/?0qd2non3v...srl78g48u4y4d,ur7z8oy414u9aw9,5tdae1jatw2qfo1
Elite modules install zip: #4941 follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1383754&d=1349642823 does it AUTO mode , confirmedly; 1-EliteKernelModules.zip
#3944 prior kernel MT-2.5 build #164 http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1349152&d=1348439120 (required!) pda.merruk.tar for ODIN
#4833 latest Developer Edition Deluxe Version kernel build #206 : http://www.mediafire.com/?c5nl1cf4cye6px4 Ext4_Converter-signed.zip
Doky's stock ROM (may not strictly be needed), see dev. section
##############################################################################
related note: I also tagged attached SGYbiCWM (click for release post) = KernelUpdate.zip and mai77-2.zip
KernelUpdate does not work under MT2.0 or whitexp1.0+ but mai77-2 does. the path /system/bin/dd was altered in the latter kernels. SGYbiCWM flashes a boot.img to SGY

HOW TO INTSTALL MT-2.5 latest , which is build #206 as of Oktober 2012
make sure you have the following 3 files:
1-EliteKernelModules.zip = module installer for CWM
Ext4_Converter-signed.zip = build #206 kernel installer & ext4-filesystem-converter, for CWM
pda.merruk.tar = build #164 kernel with integrated CWM, for to flash with ODIN
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. install MT-2.5 build #164 with ODIN: flash pda.merruk.tar
2. in CWM: create a backup (for use in step 6. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL !)
3. install elite modules using zip in CWM
4. in CWM menu, choose to create "error report"
5. install latest kernel (use the "all in one"-file) build #206
6. CWM menu "restore advanced": restore system, data, cache but not kernel, from your backup data in step 2.
7. S7 = Step 7 = verify: look up "build #206" string in menu: settings --> about phone --> kernel version
8. optionally root your SGY
THIS WAY I SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED Kernel: MT-2.5 #206 "de luxe"
after 1. you may get FC and non rooted SGY for some odd reason (happened over here, carry on regardless ! )
so you better UNmark "reboot" in ODIN and go straight into CWM by holding UP+HOME+POWER combo, without even fully rebooting into AndroidOS.
Also, this saves time.
after 3. one gets stuck in boot logo, if step 6. is not being carried out, but CWM was still accessible. modules in place.
Only if you restore your backup in step 6. from step 2. you will be able to boot fully !
do step 5. and step 6. in one go ! do not reboot after step 5. !
in step 5. be prepared to be given instructions ("restart now!") which you may not want to follow. Instead of restarting, you should restore first, else you get stuck.
in step 5. the installer says Ver. 2.0 when it is Ver. 2.5, just a cosmetical thing.
optionally read this in case of trouble: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32530811&postcount=4991
###########################################################################################################
there is, however, a much simpler way to do it,
which is without ODIN. Also this is a fast way to rescue your system when it is screwed up. so keep these files on your SD card.
assuming that you are on stock ROM follow these steps:
1. install MT-2.0 build #103 with KernelUpdate-zip in CWM
2. in CWM: create a backup (for use in step 6. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL, cuz of partition delete in step 5. )
3. install elite modules using .zip-file in CWM
4. in CWM menu, choose to create "error report" (optional)
5. install latest kernel (use the "all in one"-file) build #206, then choose: advanced / reboot recovery
6. CWM menu "restore advanced": restore system, data, cache but not kernel, from your backup data in step 2. (NOT OPTIONAL!)
7. S7 = Step 7 = verify: look up "build #206" string in menu: settings --> about phone --> kernel version (optional)
8. optionally root your SGY
I tested it, it works like a charm !!
for this method you need these files:
boot.img out of Kernel-MT-2.0 .zip file (in post #1 in main Merruk thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1053569&d=1336694938 )
KernelUpdate.zip
madteam-CWM.zip (trusted old temporary CWM)
Kernel-MT2.5 #205 install & converter pack, see above
Elite-module-installer (like above)
###################################################################################
if you installed a "new" SGY system from scratch ( i.e. "factory data reset") or better, you may want to install 3 "essentials" in this proper order:
 1. root the SGY with SuperUser.apk including latest binary with an UPDATE.ZIP inside "Android system recovery" // NOT ALWAYS NECESSARY UNDER MERRUK KERRNEL; MT2.5 comes pre-rooted (I suppose) !
 2. run & install StEricsons's BUSYBOX offline-installer .apk (don't use the installer by JRummy16, because JRummy16's one is an ONline installer)
 3. install Link2SD.apk, which needs both of the above as a prerequisite. Remember to prepare your SDcard with a secondary ext2-partition beforehand !
caveat emptor: to be perfectly honest: Link2SD was tested on stock ROM only by me. I cannot say for sure whether you have the same storage savings under MT2.5, but I will find out later.

report of build #206 tested app & software
* droidwall works 100%
* backup / restore in CWM works
* cpu tuner 100% working, all govs OK
* possibly unrelated: using MyPhoneExplorer 1.8.4 portable, refreshing the complete file list hung = won't finish ever, yet MPE rocks in #206
* possibly unrelated: KIES 2.0 kinda doesnt like the Y anymore under this kernel, but wtf is KIES 2.0 ... lol
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I used LC2 stock ROM and a single partition FAT32 SD card

a little bit complicated for a begginer but sure itll ve fine when i follow steps ryt ?

NICE Guide Sir. thank you for this. Joined IRC>:good::good:

hey thanks mai I got mine working. but mybe you should make the instruction cleaner. I put a lot of annotations when following your guides.
well atleast my kernel is showing [email protected]'s-Team #206
Just 1 question, when restoring you just need to select ONLY system, data and cache right. somewhat makes me think otherwise.
p/s: I think my governors is missing here...just only had 5 governor only.

got it workin in my brothers phone thanks a lot.

What do you mean IRC channel? Sorry for nooby question.
I dont have ext4 or any external storage. Should it work if i flash the ext4_converter? I dont have any stuff in sdcard like swap, ext3, ext4 blah blah blah. What will i do?

using deodex stock rom, flashed the a2sd darktremor after the kernel. quite fast...but keep rebooting by itself after certain period.
btw, I think it is better to post a step and explanation here rather than the IRC channel. Useful for future reference rather than have to keep asking the same question time after time.

it may even be possible to install #206 without ODIN.
install Ver. 2.0 kernel without ODIN, backup, install #206 kernel, restore
somebody might want to test that.

in a #206 system with ext4-fs, I used KernelUpdate to install the Ver.2.0 kernel --> stuck !
put back #206 kernel --> stuck !
so now I ran the #206 installer again. Once you converted to MT-2.5 #206, stock kernel won't work any longer either cuz of ext4 filesystem. lol.

Thanks For this..

clarify which is which. I want to try with creeds 3.5 ROM but didnt know which is when to flash the custom ROM.
what and when after which is what then? ¯\(º_o)/¯
and....what in the world does PDA.merruk.tar went to?
the governor as well....seems like pedobear steal half of it from my phone...need to flash what and when to get this and that governor which what?

which a2sd method are working? a2sd darktremor? a2sd? a2sd+?
I didnt prefer link2sd because it really slow to load after boot. well you know the delay for the app to get root permission after another is really something.
please include link if available.

the instructions should be clear by now. which a2sd works ? find out and report back !! I sure dont know it.

Can someone give me 2.1 meruk tnx

Perka´s And flip360´s Clean Install Guide And Package.
Warning!
If you do not follow the guide exactly you might brick your phone!
This guide is only for Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000
If you do not know what 3 button combo or recovery is, read this please.
If you have Captivate Here you have a guide.
We are not responsible for bricking anybody’s phone!
If it happens we will try to help you, but remember we are doing this for free!
You do not have to do all Sections, please read what each Section is for.
IMPORTANT! – You need to read the guide before doing it, and use the files provided.

Section A If you have 2.1, 2.2, 2.2.1
Section B is for flashing stock 2.1, to get a fresh clean install.
Section C is for flashing our update.zip from 2:e recovery (It is a renamed Kitchen Rom) Log here.
Section D Another way to get to Kitchen Rom from stock 2.1 with 2e recovery, does not work with Stock Froyo 2.2 or 2.2.1.
Section E is a guide to Magical Rom Kitchen.
Section F is a How to CWM update.zip guide, (to get CWM, only works in 2e recovery 2.1 Eclair)

Before you begin with the flashing process, make sure that you:
Samsung drivers installed on your computer.
Have backups.(When you restore your backups, DO NOT restore system settings.)
Do not have any lag fix applied.(If you are going to flash stock with pit, no need to disable lag fix)
Phone battery is fully charged.
You don´t have Kies running.
We strongly urge you to read through the whole guide first before attempting any of this,
and sticking to our reference, here is the files that you will need before attempting to flash your Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000.

Download Section.
Odin v 1.3

For Section D
Z4Root
Sgs Kernel Flasher
Speedmod Kernel choose the CWM.
Qr codes in Post 2
For Section E
Cook your favourite Kitchen Rom in Magical ROM Kitchen
For Section F
ClockWorkMode update.zip

Preparations
To begin with, download and extract all these files mentioned above to a convenient location, preferably on your desktop. Once you have all the files in place, launch Odin as administrator. On your device end, make sure that you have disabled any lag fix, if applied earlier.
Ensure that the drivers for your SGS are installed on your computer.
If you have Kies already installed on your machine, the drivers are already in place. If Kies is running shut it down.
Power off your phone.
Put your Galaxy S in download mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home + Power keys at the same time.
You will see a yellow symbol and the words ‘Downloading’ once the phone has gone into download mode. That’s it, we’re ready to begin the flashing sequence.

Section A
Before flashing the Speedmod Kernel, put your Kitchen Rom on your internal sd card.
Flashing a Speedmod Kernel Guide here.
When flashing on 2.1, you get stuck on GT-screen, dont worry its normal, just pull battery and enter recovery.
Now go to Section E

Section B
Flashing stock firmware
Make sure you don´t have Kies running, and your phone is off, do not connect it now.
1.Start Odin
2.In PIT, load the 512.PIT file.
3.For PDA, select the CODE file.
4.For PHONE, select the MODEM file.
5.For CSC select the CSC file.
6.Make sure that the Re-partition box is checked.
7.Put your phone in download mode. (Volume down + power button + home button )
8.Connect your phone to your PC via the USB cable. It will install the drivers, or if they are already installed, you will see ‘Added’ in Odin’s message box . A COM port will also become visible.
9.Again make sure that all the selections in Odin’s interface are correct. Press the Start button when verified.
The flashing sequence will begin, and you will see several messages in Odin. Make sure that the phone does not disconnect during this time, as it may brick your device permanently. Once the flashing sequence has completed, Odin will give a ‘Completed’ message in the Message box, and a green PASS will appear on top.
Your device will automatically reboot at this point.
Congratulations! You have successfully completed stage one of the process, and now you’re running the XWJM8 or JM9 2.1 Éclair firmware.
Section A is useful if you just want to revert back to factory stock 2.1 (warranty, repairs, etc.)
Now you can do Section A ,D or F

Section C
Flashing the update.zip, this is used if you have problems installing your Kitchen Rom
Copy the update.zip (it is a renamed Kitchen Rom Log) to your Internal Sd card.
Shut off the phone and reboot to recovery (Volume UP + Home + Power) and do a FACTORY RESET.
Then choose Install update.zip from the recovery, let it install and reboot. When the phone has booted, shut the phone off and enter recovery (Volume UP + Home + Power) and then choose Install update.zip from the recovery, let it install and reboot.
It´s not a typo you need to do it twice.
All done! Now you have a basic Kitchen Rom containing CWM and all you need to flash a custom ROM.
If you want to stay with this Rom, you can enter the Magical ROM Kitchen and make a update.zip with the apps you want to add, and flash it in cwm. If you want to uninstall something you can do it with Titanium.
Now you can go to Section E

Section D
Another way to get to Kitchen Rom from stock 2.1 with 2e recovery, does not work with Stock Froyo 2.2 or 2.2.1.
When you have the apps and the Kernel needed for this Section,
1.Install the apps.
2.Cook your Kitchen Rom and put it on your internal sd card. (see section E how to do that)
3.If you did not download the kernel with your phone,(qr codes in post 2) put it on your internal sd card.
4.Root with Z4Root.
5.Flash the Speedmod Kernel with Sgs Kernel Flasher (only v1.5.9 or newer)(Atm you will get stuck on GT screen due to mismatch between kernel/firmware versions if you try normal booting)
6.Enter recovery
7.Factory reset
8.Install zip from sd card
9.Choose zip from sd card
10.Install the Kitchen Rom
11.Reboot

Section E
Flashing a Kitchen Rom if/when you have clockworkmode
Here you have a app guide made by marcedli Xda
And here you have a nice Kitchen walk-trough with screens: Link.
This is the steps you need to do.
1.Place Kitchen Rom on internal sd card
2.Enter recovery
3.Factory reset (if you install new base Rom OR the previous Rom had a voodoo kernel AND you want to wipe)
4.Install zip from sd card
5.Choose zip from sd card
6.Install the Kitchen Rom
7.Reboot

Section F
How to get CWM with CWM update.zip (only works in 2e recovery 2.1 Eclair)
1.Place your Kitchen Rom on your internal sd card, that you generated in the Kitchen
2.Place the CWM update.zip on your internal sd card that you downloaded from download Section
3.Power down your phone and enter recovery (Volume up + power button + home button )
4.Choose apply sdcard:update.zip, now you will end up in recovery again, so choose apply sdcard:update.zip and you will have CWM.
5. Now go to Section E step nr 3.

gday.. just to clarify...does this suggest therefore to flash back to jm8 2.1 prior to flashing to a Doc Rom??
i have asked this in another post, but say for example you are already running another ROM that comes with all the bells & whistles (eg cwm, optional lagfix, root, sgs tools themes etc)..
would the user need to go back to jm8?
cheers

If you have problems flashing, use this guide, if you already have cwm recovery and can flash custom roms you dont need to do this guide.
thanks for confirming.!
Can this be used to flash all modded CWM ROMs? I think so. You can check & modify the topic accordingly.

Sorry, but to quote DocRambone's words:
"Wrong Section to post".
Edit: Thread reported.
Nice guide, thanks!
Is it also valid if you want to upgrade from an older Froyo rom like Doc 6.0 ?
If you start directly from stage 2 beeing on a stock rom, you have recovery 3e which won't let you flash unsigned packages (like the renamed DocRom "update.zip".
Or as I missing something ?

In Docs own installation guide he stated to install a clean JP9 base before, do the usual CWM install through update.zip etc ..

If you are on a Doc rom do stage 3.
2.1 has 2:e recovery so it can flash unsigned zips.
Does not work if you have 3e recovery.
Doc advised to install a clean JM9 base rom before upgrading to a romkitchen rom.
But in stage 3 you wrote to just install the kitchen rom from CWM. Regardless what DocRom was in use before ?

is there anyone knows how to get superuser work in creeds fusion with merruk kernel?

I'd suggest not using Merruk until the next update. You'll probably end up bricking your phone. But to answer your question, flash a rooting update.zip. If that doesnt work, first flash the unroot.zip and update.zip later. I did get SuperUser to work but the kernel is just too buggy.

I'd suggest not using Merruk until the next update. You'll probably end up bricking your phone. But to answer your question, flash a rooting update.zip. If that doesnt work, first flash the unroot.zip and update.zip later. I did get SuperUser to work but the kernel is just too buggy.

it's not working
i think its all in the sequence of how you flash the merruk kernel.
its better if you flash the kernel as per direction/method on merruks kernel thread first then install the rom.
it is how i do with my phone and superuser works everytime.

First you need to apply the Merruk Kernel over the stock rom.. Mount the system and flash creed v3.2 / any other rom.. SuperUser won't be a problem then.. You need to follow exactly how the post describes and I'm sure it will work...

Well the pre 2.0 merruk Kernel is just awesome.. Need very few minor bugs.. It has a bug that you need to mount system always when you flash a new zip and particularly any rom.. This makes people confuse and blame the kernel for its functionality.. The kernel is just perfect for under volting and under clocking.. This phone is not intended for over clocking imo.. The battery backup will increase tremendously with uv..

There are guide already available on stock ROM thread, but here i am showing how to switch ROM and How to update ROM in day to day with keeping Root and data intact. Hope this can be great help for newbies.
ROM Switching
There are lots of inquiries around regarding switching ROM. Here I have attached graphical representation, which can be helpful to decide your way to go.
Here I have divided guide in 4 parts
A.Backup data
B.Flashing Pre rooted ROM
C.Switch ROM using Mobile Odin Pro
D.Restore Data
A.Backup Data :
If you have non rooted device then you have limited option for this.Mybackup Pro also have some option for non root user too.
If you have rooted device then it will be at great help for you. Commonly used application is Titanium Backup and Mybackup Pro
In sort Titanium is feature rich, Mybackup is easy to use. I will discuss TB here in detail
What to backup first time?
when using first time, this option is good - 'Backup all user all + syst data' This will takes backup of all System data like contacts,SMS,call logs etc as well it includes all the applications you have installed along with data e.g. levels of game, app requires credential (you have to select app+data option while backup) - See image below
After this you can ad schedule for day to day auto backup. see image below i have scheduled it to take backup of system data once in a wk while any application i will install, that will be backup 5 days a wk. But this is highly configurable and you can set it according your needs.
Now lets starts with switching to Stock GB ROM from any ROM you have installed.
B.Flashing Pre rooted ROM
Starting from Any ROM you are having, if you want to move to stock rooted GB ROM then easiest way is to Flash pre rooted ROM
How to ?
1.Download This ROM
2.Extract file and Flash using PC odin.
File and tab selection is shown in image below PS :File name in PDA tab will be different, here is demonstration purpose)
If you can't see image above, click This
After successfull flashing device will be rebooted, and you may experience Force closed OR stuck at samsung logo. This is normal perticularly you are switching from custom/ICS ROM
Reboot device in recovery and wipe cache and wipe data.
You will have stock GB ROM + Root + CWM at end.
From here you can flash any custom ROMs require base ROM GB. using recovery.
OK Now next step
Switching from Rooted stock GB ROM / Rooted ICS ROM to another Stock GB/Stock ICS ROM with keeping Root intact.
Here you needs Mobile Odin Pro.
How to :
C.Switching ROM using Mobile Odin Pro
1.Download desired stock ROM from here and extract to .tar
2.Download custom kernel in .tar (odin version) according to your selected ROM. Here is kernel repository by chasmodo worth to look.
3.Copy above ROM and kernel files to Int SD card(recommend internal, but you can use Ext SD too)
4.Install Mobile Odin Pro, and open. (if you opening it first time, it will ask to doenload flasher file of abt 8MB)
PS:Here below image is diagramatic representation of flashung LRG ROM + Notecore kernel
5. select 'Open file' (see image)
6.Point to ROM file which you have copied to SD card
7.It will popup and all field will be filled automatically
8.Select Kernel tab and point to custom kernel file you have copied to SD card (see image)
9.tick 'Enable ever root' and 'Inject superuser(super SU) -(see image)
10. Flash firmware
Device will reboot in recovery and flash ROM, and of successful flashing it will reboot normally
11.Reboot in recovery
Wipe cache, wipe delvic cache and wipe data
Now your device is updated to your desired ROM + Root + Custom Kernel with advanced recovery.
D.Restore data :
-Add google a/c to newly flashed device and download Titanium backup
-Avoid system junk to restore(red colored), you can restore call logs/SMS
-select this option to restore 'Restore missing app + data'
-In next screen of list of missing application, look for any application you dont need, as well untick any application listed, which was a part of system application of previous ROM
-It will finish restoring of you app with data
Reboot after finish
And you are ready to play with device with New ROM.
Hope this will help newbies ........................
GusLuck!
and Happy Flashing.

Hi Dr Ketan
The guide is great. I have a question. I'm on a stock rooted 4.0.3 and would like to upgrade to 4.0.4. How can I do it using mobile Odin pro and keeping my data intact? Can I use the non wipe ROM in your other thread and then check on the everroot and inject superuser option?

---------- Post added at 07:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:49 PM ----------
Is there anyway to do the full process using only PC Odin and eliminating the need of Mobile Odin Pro..
I personally dont like to spend money on the app ..
PC odin will erase root. you will have to flash safe kernel with PC odin, that will raise counter and you need to reset it using Triangle away.
Okay .. got it .. Will give it a thought .. Thanks again
this guide is great,
the best way to flash ICS custom Rom is back to Pre rooted Rom.
Ps: Dr, I can't load image on step B
Thanks Dr Ketan.
Another question. For custom kernal, any ICS kernal in the chasmodo thread will do?
---------- Post added at 02:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:23 AM ----------
Another noob question...
Why do I need a custom Kernal? The stock ROM file that was downloaded already have a kernal inside right? If needed, I have chosen the official CM9 kernal "Kernel_CM9_20120806_CWM_Flashable.zip". Is that ok? i've repack this to .tar using filzip software.
Also, can I select the inject Mobile ODIN as well when flashing?

If you don't choose kernel, then your device will be rooted but won't have safe kernel. So you you have to not to wipe anything b'coz your kernel will not have emmc brick bug driver disabled. In short i don't recommend it.
yes notecore kernel .tar version will work

[Tutorial] How to flash Jelly Bean on Samsung Korean Galaxy S / SHW-M110S

How to upgrade from Gingerbread WF07 to a Jelly Bean ROM on the SHW M110S
Basic Considerations that will help you to restore your current ROM
First make a Backup of your current ROM, such that you can return to it, IF the Jelly Bean ROM is not what you expected it to be. How?
a) When Using a tegrak Kernel on the M110S , you can get this done on the bootup screen , by entering it and making a system and also a dbdata/data backup of your phone, which can be restored by using the terak kernel again IF WF07 ROM is what suits you best.
Your backup will be placed in the Tegrak Folder in the Internal SD card...so save this to your PC or external SD card for safe keeping.
b) When using a Speedmod kernel, you need to enter recovery first to make a nandroid backup of your system and data
Your Backup will be placed in the ClockWorkMod Folder of your SD card. Which can be restored by using the speedMod kernel again IF WF07 ROM is what you desire.
None of these Kernels can be used for Jelly Bean ROM, and you need to use a Version 5 CWM (ClockWorkMOD) recovery, to flash the Jelly Bean or ICS ROM direct from your SD card...as such the first thing you need to do is change the Recovery on your M110S to a version 5 ClockWorkMOD.
Second Backup your efs folder, why? read this. How? read this
What you should know about this Jelly Bean ROM on the M110S
a) It may take from 3 to five minutes for the ROM you flashed to stabilze, so try to be patient or you will have a non responsive phone in your hands, even when the ROM is stable.
b) When ever certain functions do not seem to work initially...like unable to connect to your WIFI, network etc just reboot phone.
c) Poor response may be due to settings or permissions that need to be fixed, which can be done on your settings menu or in the advanced menu of your recovery ...so you must have ample knowledge of the numerous features the Jelly Bean settings menu has.
The Jelly Bean ROM's for Korean Galaxy S (SHW M110S) that have little to NO issues at the moment are
Common Issue in Jelly Bean being having NO Ringtone only vibration
Typhoonoid aokp verion 2.1.2 or here
Typhoonoid paranoid version 1.1
CM 10 All Fixed
Provisionmod All Fixed
JBean 4.2 under construction here only for testers to verify bugs
Reminder, What you do with your Phone is your own responsibility, so do it at your own risk. Always ensure your Battery is fully Charged prior to flashing any phone
This is the basic procedure for Jelly Bean upgrade
1) Download the CWM Recovery.tar ( Attached below), the ROM's come in .zip format ( it can be as many as you wish, for you to test them out, one after the other) and Place them in a Folder (create and name it as you wish) on your SD Card Also Download the Gapps.zip (Google apps) File that need to be flashed after flashing the ROM. ( So it will always be two packages to flash, in order to get your phone functioning)
Download:-
a) CWM Version 5.0 Recovery attached below
b) Rom of your choosing from here or here or here Zip file includes ROM & Kernel (do not unzip)
c) Gapps Here (do not unzip)
d) Ringtone Fix here (Tested not working on M110S)
e) New 4.1.2 Kernel use Odin to flash when using older ROM
2) Flash the version 5 and up CWM recovery on your Phone, How?
Put your phone into download mode, Fireup Odin3 on your PC, connect to Odin3 with USB cable, select CWM Ver.5.0 recovery.tar under PDA and Flash it. Ensure you do not reboot the phone by "UNTICK" reboot in Odin3 such that it will not power ON after Flashing, in case it does power ON, just pull out Battery , press power button for 30 seconds and insert battery again
3) After flashing recovery with Odin, You can enter " Recovery Mode" by press VolumedownKey+PowerKey+HomeKey. You do this every-time you want to switch to a JellyBean or iCS ROM or to utilize the many features this recovery has, like Backup/restore/fix permissions and mostly to do the full wipes (NEEDED to be done every time you want to SWITCH ROMS) etc
4) Once in CWM Recovery you do the Full wipes (use your volume keys to move up or down in the recovery menu to select and the power key to execute that command).
The undermentioned wipes need to be done and will constitute a FULL Wipe of your Phone but your SD card will not be fully formatted as such your Images and other non system files will remain as is.
a) Wipe data / Factory reset
b) Wipe cache
c) Enter advanced and wipe dalvic Cache
Once the full wipes are done,
5) You now choose the ROM you placed in your SD card by selecting "Install zip from sdcard" which will lead you to "choose zip from sdcard", which will take you to all the folders you have on your SD Card..scroll down to where you placed the downloaded files and select it
Once selected the ROM will be Flashed on to your phone, so wait till it says "install completed" Now you do the same selection process again (Step 5) to select the Gapps file and wait till it says "Install completed"
6) That's it, Now select "Reboot system Now".
Now the ROM has been installed on your phone, so let it boot up and you can repeat this procedure to switch again and again till you have the best ROM of your choosing.
Solutions to solve problems, if any
In the event that it fails to boot-up or you placed a wrong ROM that caused a boot loop or any other problem, just look in My Android Solutions , IF you cannot enter Recovery mode to flash another ROM.
or
You can also use Odin3 to Flash a Gingerbread ROM in Download mode and use your First backup ( made by Tegrak or speedMod) to return your phone to its original state.
Ringtone Codec from this post unfortunately it seems to fail in fixing the Ringtone issue but no harm done in installing this codec
atrix4g18 said:
This is the fix for Audio/Sound on any Jelly Bean ROM on any device.
JB needs this file "/system/etc/media_codecs.xml"
This file is missing, but simply copying the file there using Root Explorer or any file explorer with root access works. This does not require a permissions change. The file is not there originally so you won't be overwriting anything. I did this fix on my Atrix 4G and it worked perfectly. It is universal and will work on any Jelly Bean ROM on any device with this issue.
Here is a link to the file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1207669&d=1342668760
Steps:
- Extract "media_codecs.xml"
- Copy it to /system/etc/
- Make sure to mount system as R/W (read/write) before pasting the file
- Reboot
- Sound Fixed!

Final Advice
IF you like the ROM you had just installed and after doing all the tweaks and adjustments you would like to try another ROM, just get back into your CWM recovery , scroll down to "backup and restore" and back it up. Such that you can restore it, if your next selection is below expectations. or you wish to tweak it further at some other time. You can have many ROM's backed up and restored whenever you like...just remember on what date you backed it up.
You , YES! you are an " Android ".

oh my god, your post is amazing. thank you thank you!
Question:
your post suggests using CWM Version 5.0 to do the ROM flashing. can i use just ODIN to flash Typhoonoid? or do i have to use CWM?
also, i believe that Tegrek kernel only supports stock ROM on the M110S, which is gingerbread. after flashing Typhoonoid, is it possible to flash Tegrek kernel again? can Tegrek lagfix be applied to Typhoonoid?

NO. its ver 4.1, meaning Jelly Bean, CM 7.2 is gingerbread/ICS combo, try looking in the links given in OP, you need to go into their parent directory and it will clearly state CM 7.2. CM 9 would be ICS , CM 10 would be Jelly Bean.
unfortunately I Have not tested them , so unable to tell you the bugs in each of them.

Or these kernel have special features.
Thanks.

looks like provision made a new kernel even for Jellybean, so it can flashed using odin3 after flashing ROM & gapps. oc means its an overclocked version

you use the one that is included in the ROM package. and can be updated with new version of that kernel later, you cannot use gingerbread kernels like (tegrak or speedmod)

Hi mates,
I've not seen any instructions about installing that ROM. With only 170GB probably it is not a full rom.
I haven't seen the kernel in it and also SecPhone.apk; SecContacts.apk; SecSetings.apk etc. . . . . even SystemUI.apk
Could somebody post any guidelines about installation, which kernel should be used etc. :fingers-crossed:
Should SNote apps etc. from Note3 works on it without any changes?
Thanks.

This is an AOSP rom which is like a Google stock firmware found in nexus devices that's why the size is 170-200mb and yes this is a full rom though you have to download gapps separately
The firmware you are thinking about is the Samsung bloated firmware filled with unnecessary junk making it around 1 - 1.5GB and so we call it Crapsung
Sorry I despise Samsung firmware, never used it and never will
Also note since this is not a Samsung firmware you will not able to use Snote or any Samsung related application as they are not compatible with AOSP framework
The instructions to flash this firmware are as follows
1) download ROM (the kernel is included in the ROM itself )
2) download PA Gapps
3) make sure your device is ROOTED and if not rooted already, please ROOT your device. (This is a mandatory and important step)
4) download RAW kernel for KK ROMs. (we have to use this kernel as KK ROMs require SE Linux compatible recovery otherwise you will not be able to flash it)
Note : raw kernel doesn't becomes your device kernel. The kernel is bundled with the ROM which will get flashed along with it
5) move all downloaded files to internal or external SD.
6) Now on a ROOTED device, reboot it to recovery by pressing home key + power key + volume up key simultaneously.
7) Since you are already rooted I expect might also have flashed a custom recovery. If so take a nandroid backup with that recovery [ DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP ]
7) Once nandroid backup is done do the following
-wipe data factory reset
-wipe cache
-go to mounts and storage and format system
-go to advance and wipe dalvik cache
8) back to the main menu choose install zip and first install RAW kernel and once done navigate to advance and select "reboot recovery" [ do not skip this step]
9) assuming that everything went correctly you should now be booted into TWRP recovery. You could do a factory reset here too if you want
10)Now choose install and select the ROM file first and queue the Gapps file too and flash
11) once the process is complete reboot and setup your device accordingly
12) and if not already Welcome to real world of android (Aosp/cm11)
Simple right
Raw kernel can found in the development section of N7000 forum with a simple search make sure to download the one for KK ROMs.
As for Gapps just go to Google and type pa gapps and the first link will take you to PA Gapps xda thread. Choose your pick from there
hope that helps
thank you very much
