TomTom works - Galaxy S III General

Hi just installed TomTom on S3 and is working great.
Of course it is not officially supported.
Here are some screens.

Alternatively you can use Sygic which, while using it's own routing algorithms and UI, relies on TomTom maps and TomTom traffic data.

is this a cracked version? how have you installed it as its not showing in the play store

Hi, i've installed iGo My Way (witch is also not officially supported) and it's also working great.

+1 on where you got it. Play store will not show it for sIII.

You can buy it with a supported device and then sideload it onto an unsupported device... For example, it shows up when on an S2...

Can u upload and post any links bro? Thanks

Sorry we can not as that would then be classed as warez software.
All I can say is Google TomTom for android.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

And make sure you have 3GB of space on your internal memory as that's how much the maps take!!

So what is this article referencing then> http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolo...id-app-that-doesnt-work-with-top-devices.html

It saying that all top models was not supported but only takes a small amount of knowledge to get this working.
So buy it for HTC nexus then use sideload technique.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

I am tempted to buy it and side load, but I would hate for there to be a HD version released and be stuck with the low res one.
If TomTom state that this app will be the same one that supports S3 I would buy it now.

Yer same but I bought it for my old HTC nexus just to try on the s3. Then gave my nexus to my bro with TomTom installed so I never really lost much to try it out.

S3 version please
Don't know why TomTom does not make a version that is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S3. I think that one of the more prestigious navigators should be available to most of the top phones.

I am sure TomTom will make S3 compatible version ASAP.

Its compatible with s3 now !

+1 me 2 . y?

I wouldn't worry too much about tomtom at this stage as, at the moment it is crap (imo) and others on the market (mostly cheaper) are far better.
I'm sure there will be improvements in the future and I would assume by then, most devices will be supported.

I have the same. I had the polish version of JellyBean installed and TomTom worked fine.
Last week I installed the UK version of JellyBean and now TomTom is not working anymore.
"Can't connect to TomTom, please try again later"
On another S3 with ICS, TomTom issn't working with the same error.
On another S3 still with the polish version of JellyBean, TomTom is still working.

Strange issue with MX Video Player...

I am currently using the basic version which is simply called Mx Video Player...
Recently a ''Pro'' version was released and I was prompted to install it.
However when trying to do so it fails to install.
Even when manually downloading the apk from the internet and transfering it, it fails to install. I tried 3 different versions, same problem.
My questions is WHY does the standard version install & work fine yet the pro version does not?
Anyone else had this issue or a similar issue?
I have no problem installing and using the purchased pro versions on my two android phones, including the Galaxy Note.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
This is strange... Even when trying to pay for the pro version I had problems.
Could you give me a link of where you purchased your pro edition of MX video player from?
Lastly, what's the actual difference between the free and pro version? Thanks.
Maybe u should delete free version and try...

Lol, dunno why I didn't try this before! As you mentioned it worked fine once I uninstalled the free version...
However I can see no difference whatsoever between the basic and the pro version, even the menu appears to be the same.
Perhaps the free version has ads and the paid version is ad free?
Thanks for the suggestion.

Don't hold your breathe buddy. Development has come to a standstill getting skygo to work on rooted devices.
Keep an eye on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506967
But it's dead at the moment. I highly doubt sky themselves will support the nexus 7 for a long long time. They released a brand new sky sports tv app this past week and it hasn't even got support for the galaxy s3 or One X. Ridiculous.

Haven't tried it for a while, but my S2 was running stock, but was rooted, I then used OTA root keeper from the the play store, and then it worked, I haven't tried it but can someone who is on a supported version of Android and is rooted check if that works?
I'd do it myself, but i'm on Cm10 JB on S2, and my Nexus 7 is obviously on JB too.

Yeah I think you need stock kernel, I remember Siyah wouldn't work, that's why I've not installed any custom kernels as yet, hopefully Sky will release it for JB soon.

The sky website uses silverlight and requires the computer to be an authorised device. Won't work on tablets.
As far as i know sky go only works on a few devices, needs to be unrooted, and even then doesn't support jellybean and stops working when you upgrade to jelly bean.

No sky go on android, sky I think are 'persuaded' by a rival fruit based company to make it as awkward as possible or impossible to watch sky on android it seems. Claim fragmentation issues. Not even the glaring popularity of n7 and no doubt the n10 has helped.
Bet it Works on iPad mini ! Coincidentally....
All they need to do is to ask guys who have written existing quality android apps to knock one up and write the cheque.
But no..!

navigon usa does not work

Hello, I am able to download the navigon usa (4.6 or 4.7) onto my rooted galaxy s4 without any problems. However, I can not download the map for individual states for some reason. I have tried with almost all custom roms, and I have never successed. It used to work really nice on rooted galaxy s3. Can someone please shed some lights on this? Thanks so much.

The reason I have to used Navigon USA because it does not use my data and it uses satellite. That's why it's convenient. Thanks.
Navigon works fine for me on the S4 with both stock & AOSP ROM's. But it has been a few weeks since I've had to download any new maps.
Could be their server is having issues. Or maybe your account with them is having issues?

Whenever I've tried to install on my rooted Galaxy s4 and I kept getting this message 'the download may take some time due to the size of files involved..... ....' Google Maps on an 8.9HDX LTE 64GB

I haven't rooted yet, so I'm just sideloading the latest 7.5 version of Google Maps on my HDX (14.3.1). It installs fine and when run displays the base map normally, however all the labels are unreadable. It looks as if they are overwriting themselves. All other functionality works as expected, but the map is basically unusable in this state.
I'm wondering if anyone else is using Google Maps on an 8.9 HDX? I'm hoping to not have to root right away, but I know I will eventually. Unfortunately there isn't another good mapping app so getting this working is key to me. Thanks in advance,
Steve

I have the same issue with the 7" HDX. There is a better Mapquest app on 1Market (better than the one in the Amazon app store) that works pretty well.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
It's good to hear it's not just my HDX, maybe there's a chance it will be fixed. I tried the latest Mapquest and it's pretty good, but I still prefer Google Maps. So far out of 30 Google Play apps it's the only one with any major issues.
Steve
Sent from my KFAPWA using xda app-developers app
I also noticed Maps wants to install Google Play Services when you attempt to set the current location (GPS on my LTE version). I was able to sideload GP services, but that didn't resolve the problem.
Does anyone have Google Maps working on an HDX, rooted or unrooted? Updates to Maps haven't helped so far, but maybe an update to the Kindle OS?

I found some old versions of Maps on this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357873
However, none of them seemed to fix the problem of the app not showing street names or overwriting names to where you can't read them. This is REALLY frustrating as I use google maps a lot and this bug makes it practically unusable.
I've gone back as far as version 6.8 and I still see the label overwrite problem. One thing I noticed is after I install and run Maps for the first time, I see the message "Updated to latest version". It seems as if Maps gets an online update the first time it connects to the server. If that's what happens there may not be anyway to install an old version.

I have the same issue on my HDX 7 -- and have also tried other versions of Maps.
However, I am running Cpajuste's AOSP 4.2 rom on one of my slots and the Google Maps rendering works fine!
Therefore, it would "appear" to be an issue with the Amazon OS.
