AOKP Port Android Development - Galaxy Note II General

Hey guys I created this to show progress on porting AOKP from the S3 and get some collaboration from devs. If any devs want to help please chime in. I can send my zip file of my attempted port. So far though I am going to need a ported kernel, the one in my zip is just our stock N7100 kernel. I don't have the note ii so I have no way to test it, and I only feel comfortable having devs test because I am not at the point of releasing anything, and have not yet asked permission to use other dev's work. Basically once this is booting and stable I am going to get permission and I will post it up in the Dev section.

The GS3 ROM request thread

I know I may be getting a little ahead of myself seeing as how you guys barely got the phone and we don't yet have CM9 for the US variants, but once we get it can somebody PLEASE port over this ROM?

Got a ROM you'd like ported over or some particular mods, post 'em up here!

[Q] Requesting kernel development for aosp lollipop roms

Coming from Galaxy s3, the only thing I miss on my s4 is the lack of a good aosp kernel. It is sad to see that at present there are no aosp/cm kernels under development. On my s3 there was boeffla kernel available which had a lot of settings we could play with and get the most out of the phone. I hope someone can take up this herculean task and provide us with a super kernel. I know it is just too much to ask for but if someone could take the initiative, me and some of the users here would be more than willing to participate as beta testers and do our part.
Wrong thread.THIS IS ANDRIOD DEVOLOPMENT THREAD.and this post is actually useless as it is a request for ETA.Also persues kernel dev told that he will work on this when he get time.Totally unnessary .please do some research as one of members have same post in s4 QandA
Keep calm.Coz IPL 8 belongs to KKR
The time spent whining about no development would be better spent in learning how to do it yourself. Remember, this is XDA-DEVELOPERS, not XDA-USERS and the developers don't have to do anything if they don't want to.

[DEV] Nixo Kernel Test Track Discussion

Dear fellow members of Galaxy S6/Edge XDA members,
I've created this thread to step back into developing a KANGed kernel once again. I have previously worked on the Galaxy Nexus 2 years back where I had the time to work on kernel development and was thus actively involved in the forums over there. However, after nearly one year, I had to put my kernel KANGing to a stop as I have my major examinations to focus on. Now, after almost finishing everything I need for my education, I want to step back into contributing to XDA with my very best that I've learnt from the Galaxy Nexus.
Here is the link of proof:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/development/kernel-s-k-p-r458-3-0-101-t2479983
However, I do want to voice out that I have never been correct in developing so I'll just let you guys know as well because I don't want to hide anything. I have failed my development on the kernel before when I expanded to the LG G2, and various other devices. But everything came to an end because I wanted everything to stop so that I can sort things out as I did not work on the kernel properly.
Alright, so off goes my introduction. Now I will be presenting on my goals on the kernel I will be developing for the S6.
First and foremost,
I'll implement things that I've learn though my course of studies, followed by the things the kernel users want or need.
Last but not least,
I need some testers for the kernel as I am unable to do so with my S6. (I'm currently on an F2FS setup and will be testing my kernel once I've reached the phase for implementing arter's F2FS if viable.)
Right now I need a few testers who are either on stock, or are NOT on any Note-based ROMs.
I will begin releasing the zips to all the testers in private.
All you have to do is just indicate your interest in helping me test out my kernel by posting on this thread
Thanks,
Nixholas

Nougat kernel source

Nougat kernel sources by hridayhs but no android n build yet https://github.com/HridayHS/android_kernel_xiaomi_msm8937/tree/cm-14.1?files=1
Please developers start building nougat builds we are lacking behind
porting device to n isnt that easy kernel needs to be patched to 3,18,31 you need blobs and tree
MIUI forum is full of those stupid polls.. please don't start with it on xda
uselles pos like miui forum to many poll but no rom
keep up up guys
True... It makes no difference... :/
That's what I m saying hriday hs created a kernel source for andriod nougat that is branch cm 14.1 see main post for link of kernel source
I agree with the stupid poll bit. I don't know if these people lie in their bed thinking up these foolish polls. They should find something useful to occupy themselves.
If you think a developer will just see the poll and think "Hey it's true, I should make a Nougat ROM" you're thinking something in the wrong way. Please stop, this is not the MIUI forum.
"We are lacking behind" ... dude this is not a race.
Remember they are normal people with work and other duties, asking them for work on Nougat ROMs using this passive-agressive way will only make them angry. Contribute in a more useful way like donating money, asking for help to other devs, or learning to make a device tree + compile source code.
If you want stable nougat rom then please donate this guy: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-3s/how-to/moving-to-red-mi-3s-t3572896

Development of Android 8 ROM

Hey all you Sharp 306sh users!
I love this phone and decided to start a ROM port to Oreo 8.0.0!
To date here's what i got
1. Device tree built
2. ASOP stock rom built successfully
Here's what I need to get done next
1. Access bootloader to flash images
2. Test for vendor blobs needed so I can make the vendor tree (if required)
Your help on this would be greatly appreciated as I am just getting my feet we in this process, this is a great phone and I would love to see it updated.
Please let me know if you are interested in helping with this project!
Edit 8/6/2018: Device tree is on Github,
https://github.com/RobertCC18/sharp-306sh-rom
More to come once kernel is built!
Edit 10/12/2018:
I am uploading the first test build so I can get some help with the debug. THIS ROM IS GETS STUCK AT THE SHARP BOOT LOGO AND IS NOT READY FOR PRODUCTION DEVICES!!!!
That being said, any help and logs that you can send are greatly appreciated.
This zip can be flashed through TWRP, check the downloads section

Great! I´ve got a 306SH model, i can be a tester... waiting for your first zip :highfive:
Awesome.
I tried this exact same thing before, but gave up soon after I couldn't diagnose what stopped my device from booting with my custom ROMs, as I could never find the logs.
It looks like you're making more headway than me, so I'd love to test it, or even just help out.
Keep on going! A GitHub would be great progress.
Update 7-4-18
Update - 7/24/2018
Recompiling Kernel with debug drivers included - current compiled kernel missing RAM Console support
Github repo coming soon!
Great! Always wanted a custom room on this phone. I can test it and try it out too
Good progress.
Make sure to keep us updated, once you have a GitHub repo, development should speed up.
I'm sure there are a few techies with this phone that would love to contribute to your ROM, myself included.
By the way, you said ASOP instead of AOSP in the original post.

Thanks, whoops on the typo!
Been busy with work but hoping to upload device tree, kernel base and current build, waiting for kernel to finish building with RAM console drivers.
Update 8/6/2018
Github Created

Device tree is added, kernel coming soon!
About accessing the bootloader to flash images, I believe we've done this before.
Tewilove, the man behind rooting the 306SH managed to access it, and made a custom one to flash, if I do remember correctly.

Worth a look.
No development in a while. We all hope you're still there.
I visited the Github and just found it to be text files and folders. Could you possibly post the WIP kernel or other vendor blobs on there,
so we have at least a basis to begin work on?
Thanks,
This is an amazing idea. My 306SH is rooted and ready for action.

Yes I am still here and working on this, just haven't had much time lately. I will try to get the kernel and vendor blobs up within the next few days
Been waiting for a custom ROM for this phone. I'm ready to test it
Any update on the development of the ROM??????
Any progress?

Hey everyone,
Sorry for the delay in development but I hit a major snag with the kernel build and am still working on overcoming it. The needed defconfig is missing so I found one that should get us close, at the very least it should allow us to see the RAM debug messages on boot failure.
Also, my internet has been to slow to upload the kernel to github but I have an upgrade and should be able to get it uploaded within the next couple days.
Please share any information that you find regarding this phone here on XDA and beyond, any info you can provide will help me get this up and running faster!
Hey, how's everything going? Any luck?
What's up with it?
Hey All,
Sorry for the delayed responses, this phone seems to be a lost cause. But I am not a quitter lol!
I am hopeing to get back into the swing if things here in the next few weeks and will post more updates and files here shortly
Current problems:
No debugging enabled
Kernel needs patched to support Android 6+
We wish you the best of luck!
