I heard a respond that stock browser is sharper and crisper than any 3rd app. And it can play various codec types, but i'm not sure about .mov

Playback of this file was super smooth with mx player with armv7 codec installed. Stock player could not open this

I was using MX Player, I've now tried BS Player with my Note 1, and it seems to work MUCH better than MX, the video plays smoothly!!

Butter smooth. Really. Both videos. Can agree there is a minimal difference in bs player and mx player

I always found QQ player to be the best on my note 1 it would play everything I threw at it. Its free on google play. Ill be installing it again on my note 2 soon.

Best mkv player with subs

Hey, until now im using the inbuild player. im mostly watch mkv and i like to know which is the best for mkv with srt subs?
b.t.w when i load srt i dont see the right latters its shows @#%$^ instad of hebrew.
I like mx player, but I've heard some prefer bs player.

Based on my personal expierence MX Video Player is the best one out there. It could play some videos that VLC on my PC had trouble with (10bit mkv).
Still it had slow performance due to resolution and software rendering but it's much better than MoboPlayer or diceplayer, which couldn't play it at all.
Here's link if you're interested:

MX Player stay the best for moment. Can't wait for a rc candidate about vlc
Hands down mx player

Mx pkayer definitely
~§~
i prefere dice player
Dice Player for me is the best
MX Video Player lags a lot with 10bit mkvs under SW mode while Dice Player implements some kind of unnoticeable frame skipping to keep the video and audio in sync
Dice Player's downside though is it cannot play 1080p videos, for that i use MX Video Player

Mx player is faraway first. Somee times i use mobo player.
Mx Player too. Since you barely notice the difference between 720p and 1080p movies on the Note anyway.. It never lets me down. And I watch a lot of movies and series on it. The subs look nice too.
+1 MX Player

[Q] MX player custom codec to play DTS on N10?

Anyone happen to have a custom codec that is able to be loaded into the latest MX player so it will play DTS audio? Reason I ask about this is because MX player works the best... BS player the audio becomes out of sync from the video if I pause and restart/resume video. BS player for some reason won't allow me to FF either. VLC beta is very nice but it is just a beta and also has some really crappy bugs. If I FF the video or pause/restart the audio becomes out of sync with the video. VLC lets me FF but that also causes the audio to become out of sync.
So alas, the best (current) way to play videos is MX player. Everything works perfectly BUT the DTS audio. Does anyone have or know of a custom FFmpeg codec that works with the Nexus 10? Thank you!

Codec is out there just Google it on xda. I've tried it, same crap results as using custom codec with dice player....great we have DTS, but video becomes laggy and choppy so pointless....
EDIT: got the link for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896293
EDIT: actually after a bit of fiddling got h/w video to play with s/w audio, works really nice now.

Nah it does work just takes some fiddling. Enable h/w video only in preferences > decoder. Disable s/w and h/w+ video decoding. Select custom codec. Then when you play video click music icon in top right and uncheck use "H/W audio decoding" and done.

I assume this is the arm7 neon off the play store?
Where does it download to, when I try selecting custom codec it gives me a filepicker, but I can't figure out where in the directory structure it might be?
Check the link a few posts back.

Alright.
Was thrown off by that being from a different device forum and that there was a NEON codec available in the play store.
Thanks

email the developers, let them know that they need to update their apps for android 4.3. if their app users dont tell them, they might not know that it needs an update until much later on.

I have seen in other threads that VLC (nightly) now works with 4.3. The link below says the fixed version it is not yet available on the playstore.
See: http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=112549
I'm still holding out for MX Player Pro hoping that it will be fixed before the OTA gets to my machine. The OTA has begun to rollout on Jul 26th late at night on US east coast (Florida was one place mentioned).
Vplayer has 4.3 support, but give it a few days for the rest

video players not working android 4.3
the same happen to me. vlc beta plays only audio but no video, mx player pro unsupported android version. Hopefully they will fix this.
So VLC only plays audio for me, and VPlayer is really really laggy. Like, videos are only showing half of their frames.
Are there any actually functional video players on 4.3 right now?

...did... did you read my post? I said VPlayer is incredibly laggy on my Nexus 4, almost non-functional.
Guys, sorry to derail this topic, but
How do you send mkv files to the Nexus 4?
When I connect it to my PC there's no option to use it as a traditional drive copy/pasting files from my computer.
Thanks in advance.

encode video to nexus 7

hey
i was looking for a program to convert my videos so i can watch them optimally on the nexus 7
any suggestions?
thanks
Ariel
I don't think you need to re-encode your videos. Personally, I just use MX player. It supports almost all video formats. You can download the app for free on the Play Store.
+1 for MX Player.
Can't say I've found a video it won't play tbh.

Bs player works better for me. Mx sometimes degrades picture quality.

+1 for MX player. So far plays anything I've thrown at it.
1080p Anime MXV files no problem.
Only files I have had problems with were ones that were poorly encoded.

Video Player Suggestion

I was having issues with the screen being too dark when watching videos. I just purchased MX Player Pro and it makes quite a difference :good: You can go into settings and use a custom brightness setting along with hardware decoding. A bonus is both the audio and video quality improved immensely over the stock player.
I like the stock LG video player, cause I never had any issue playing videos with it. But MX Player Pro is not bad too..

I use mx player to for files that stock won't play works great

I'm using the stock one. It's perfect.
