I kept the Amazon launcher because I wasn't able to start the Kindle app from Nova. I think it needed a reboot, it's fine now.

Awww mannnn, that looks so awesome. I just got a Kindle Fire HD yesterday and I can't root. I just can NOT get the ADB to recognize my device. I am super disappointed.

The problem I had was I didn't initially have the composite version of the ADB driver installed. I had to do a Windows update where it found the correct driver. Is that the issue you're facing?
Sent from my KFTT using xda app-developers app

I am not quite sure if that is my particular issue. As I mentioned, I got this thing yesterday afternoon. I am pretty good with the Android devices because I have a Samsung Galaxy S III and I have been using XDA to mod most of my phones for a while now. But, I am a bit confused with this Kindle Fire HD - when using the root que I can not get it to recognize my device which makes me think that the drivers are wrong. I really am clueless with this one. But thanks for the screenies - that looks awesome.

OP doesn't give much details, but if its the same with go launcher ex, you need a rooted device, download, don't install, move apk to system/apps with permissions rw-r-r, install, reboot and it will say the system is updating and the launcher will work and you can set as default.

Moving to /system/app
seems to the do the trick. That's all you need to do...Install both the Nova and the Nova Prime launcher in /system/app and then reboot. You'll be primpted for which launcher you want...Now I have a Nexus 7 with the ability to rent from Amazon!

I was gonna try this, I would love to have a new lockscreen without ads.

I tried a couple of things... I may have reinstalled the Kindle app via the file manager, then rebooted.

I have gotten Widget locker to work as the main lock screen. But the problem is the amazon lock is behind it still. So rather useless without tinkering.
*Edit* it only shows the amazon ads lock screen once. After restart with proper settings changes

Android Market 3.1.3 on Wildfire---When disaster strikes :=)

Hello Everybody,
today my Android Market on Cm7.1 has updated and now im running Market Version 3.1.3 and i have to say....what a disaster. Its laggy and slow....it takes so much time to load all the little app-icons and when you try to get back from your "my apps" dialog to the starting screen.....it takes years.
Maybe this Market isn't the right one for the wildfire...anyone experienced the same???
Is it possible get the old market back? Or do you have any other solution for this?
Have you tried pressing menu/settings/applications/manage applications find the market and then click uninstall updates, that works for me but this new update runs perfect for me so I'm keeping it.
There is a different way if uninstalling the update doesn't work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231358
EDIT: It did run perfect for me when i was on DK Custom Rom {2.2.1 sense} However i just switched to cm7 nightly and it lagged real bad so i had to switch back to the old version no problem for me though i like performance now more than cosmetics.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA Premium App
Yeah the market is running flawlessly for me too...
I don't understand why does it take years with you to lead! Weird :/
Hmm, when it isn't slow for you, maybe its temporariy because of the present distribution of the update?
For example, when im in an App-Menue (i mean i have clicked on one specific app in some of the lists) and then click on the go back arrow at the upper left with the market-icon nearby... it takes about 8-10 seconds to get back to the main-menue...isn't that too long??
Mine is snappy, only the animations lag a bit, but images appear in maximum 2 seconds.
I don`t know why people complain about this new market, it`s not as bad as most people say it is.
New Market runs perfectly on my defy and my friend's wildfire....
Sent from my MB525 using XDA Premium App
Laggy, slow, takes more data, i never loved the new market, switched to my old descent market,,
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
same as me.. before installed new market then it laggs at times and slow to open. reverted back to previous market..
The market update came to my phone as well a couple of days ago and it ran smooth for the most part.
I ended up uninstalling the update though because of the additional 12 Mb of data added, and a bit of lag plus I prefer the 2.3.6 one.
I've tried this on my HTC Sensation and HTC HD2 but it's just too slow to be usable. Does anyone have a solution or at least an explanation?
ive tried this too with an htc sensation and yeah its somehow slow there too.
@az5k
as told before in this thread, the best solution is to deinstall the update of the market in your app-management-menue, the old market is lovely compared to the new one for me.
On my old wildfire on cm7.1 it was laggy but usable. On sensation its brilliantly fast

thank for the support !!!
Fix the market, without a PC.
There is a simple solution for this.
1) Download an app from the market called "App Quarantine"
2) Find the Market in your "All Apps" (Settings>>Manage Applications>>All>>Market)
3) Click to uninstall the updates
4) Open App Quarantine, and go to the third tab along the top. Uncheck the box that says "Hide system services"
5) Go to the first tab, find "Market Updater", check the box next to it, press menu and hit lock apps!
There, you still have the files for later and it wont update anymore...
And, it isn't just CM7 with the issue. SenseOnFire ROM has the same problem. Unless it is a kernel issue? Not sure...
By the way. App Quarantine is free.
Just sayin'

Very nice Home screen. I have a few quick questions. How is the speed and performance? Any noticeable lag? Is the browsing experience enhanced? Does it run apps/ games as good as Honeycomb? Thanks a lot bro, if you can answer.
What theme is that? its awesome!!!!!!

To me it seems much the same as when I had Revolver overclocked to 1.6 but keep in mind this is a work in progress. Each build gets faster and faster although there is some lag and touchscreen issues. Also forgot to mention the mousepad off button and camera are not working at the moment. All in all a pretty snappy and well put together rom for a beta release.
Also i forgot to mention that I installed in this order:
Stock rom
full wipe in CWM including dalvik and cache
build 20120211
Kernel flash
20120219 (no wipe just flashed over)
Sent from my Sparkified TF101
By the way, does Asus SuperNote work on Spark/ICS?
Maybe you can try this, it sould work with ics.
What are the icons at the bottom of the screen? Not the status bar but just above that
I flashed the 20120219 Spark build coming from Revolver and was very impressed but had issues playing games for eg: GTAIII, X-Plane, Sim City Deluxe so I had to revert back to revolver for the time being as i use my TF mainly for gaming on the commute.
Browser was great, nice seeing ICS on the big screen (I have a G-Nex to compare) but I did have the touch responsive problem, every 3rd touch would register. I will be trying out every build of Spark that comes out as it will in no doubt get better and better!
My only question, does NOVA launcher run on it? I have NOVA launcher on my G-Nex and it's so sweet!
touchscreen flakiness is the only thing that forced me back to revolver.
I'm running stock spark, with Chrome as browser and almost no other hacks or customizations.
My biggest issue with Spark as a daily (I'm using it) is that using the softkeyboard (when not docked) is really painful. It seemingly only registers every second or third key and you just want to kill it.
Only tried with stock keyboard though. Might want to try thumbkeyboard or something else and see if that works better.
IM using it now its ok im going back revolver

First of all not using a theme. Just some custom shortcuts, wallpaper, widgets and some icons i got here. Right now Just running 1 screen with all the basics to keep as much of the resources free as possible. As the build nears completion i will expand to probably 5 screens. Sticking to the KISS (keep it simple stupid) principal because if i lose everything i wont be pissed.
here = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17128400
Setting up a simmilar layout to mine (which is uber simple by comparison to some of the layouts in the above link) takes about 20-30 mins.
I just wanted to keep it simple because i may have to wipe it later. You should check out some of the amazing layouts in the "Hubs" Nav+ thread in the themes and apps section. Lots of amazing tutorials and tips there.
Personally i have never tried Nova launcher how is it compared to ADW ex?

I think once the main drivers are working (gps, camera, etc.) and the touchscreen issues are fixed I will be switching over to it for daily use.
Supernote works but is not inluded. I unzipped a rom and grabbed it from there and pushed it into my system apps folder.... Besides the camera not working I love this rom. I used the touch screen calibrate app to increase sensitivity. Every now and then the launcher will go blank and I need to force close it then all is fine... I am def not going back to honeycomb. This rom is way snappier then it was on honeycomb overclocked...

rege420,
I must say, you gave us the challenge of a lifetime, We tried it today and it is not possible. The main package that needs to be modified is the framework-res-apk which can be found in /system/app, this file is owned by Root and has the Rights of Read Only when you are not at Root. Once you drop to Root, there is a hack that makes the lower and upper bars Transparent but is is a serious hack and requires knowledge on repacking and signing apk's, so for this reason we do not post a How To on this hack.
I will keep it in the back of our minds if we come up with a viable solution, we will get back to you rege420.
It's a shame, I installed Swift Tablet Keyboard & liked the look of it over stock but it was pretty annoying to have half the last section of keys cut off by the side bar, worked fine in portrait though.

This is why we love to Root the Kindle. Given time, we will make the Keyboard work, we just need more time to come up with a script that safely tackles the Framework. We'll get-er done over time.

rege420,
Yes, I completely agree. I have never quite understood Amazon's marketing, it just does not make sense. In the end they loose, not us, since we the developers will always find a way around locked down devices. Sony is an excelent idea of a company who embraced the open source market and for this reason, the are very well respected in the development community. If Amazon would open the door a bit, they would inevitably sell more devices.
Yea why sell such a great piece of hardware and then lock it up like fort Knox. Its probably the best made tablet out at the moment and you can't do anything with it. I don't get their angle

Does anybody know how to remove the Verizon pre-loaded contacts? It's been mentioned that Verizon has locked them down, too. You used to be able to delete them but not anymore. I remember that you can freeze com.partnerbookmarks (apologies if that file name isn't 100% accurate) on older phones to get rid of the carrier-provided bookmarks and was wondering if there was something similar to get rid of the Verizon contacts. Not a dealbreaker, but just curious.

Im actually very happy with it stock as is. I would love bootloader unlock only because everyphone i've had was able to be. Im loving active display and touchless control. The camera is great compared to what i had (droid razr hd). Using the Xposed framework allowed me to have the little UI tweeks i like. I would just love a stock 5x5 or 4x5 launcher. I would use nova and always did on AOSP, but I like the Circles widget, it just will not work with 3rd party launchers. Wish we could figure that out too

I'm the same way.. I went from a Motorola electrify to a gs3 on uscc and was excited to finally do what I wanted with my device but with the radio problems of the Samsung devices I opted for Motorola device when switching to Verizon. I do miss that I cannot use my SD card and I only have 11 gigs of free space but I have awesome coverage no dropped calls and now my gs3 is more of an mp3 and game device.

So...does disabling a bunch of apps do the same thing as freezing them?
I was able to go through and disable most if not all of the bloat on this phone and I guess I just assumed it was taken off line. Is that not the case? If it is the case, I highly recommend it as it doesn't screw you out of future stuff.

Google launcher experience

I just want to share with all of you my experience with Google launcher. After installing the launcher, I notice the tablet is running really smoothly. No lags at all. Also apps open faster and reduce battery usage. Please do the same and share your experience here and let us know.
Note: if you are a big fan of the magazine UI you will lose it because it is a part of the TouchWiz. Not a big deal for me for faster performance, it is actually worth losing this feature.

No, all you have to do is side load the right apks. You can Google how to install the Google Experience Launcher. It won't be on the play store for non nexus devices

That is right. I downloaded the apk and installed it in my note 12.2. It is working just fine and it actually makes the device run better and faster.

I agree with you but this is a screen shot of mine. I put the app that I use more often.

Holy wide margins Batman!
Just think, we've paid a premium for a screen that's a little over 10 inches wide in landscape and launchers like this or Touchwiz piss away about 3 inches of it on margins. This is my #1 reason for installing Nova Prime within 20 minutes of owning the tablet LOL.

Yeah true. I guess its just the novelty of sideloading Google Launcher that's not really made for the Note Pro or something. I found it way too limited compared to Nova. I had Nova Prime on my Note Pro within a few minutes out of the box!
Wow clean home screen.
I try to use as much as I can on mine LOL.
Back on topic though I wouldn't mind always on search from Google Now Launcher. I currently run Switchr as a left sided swipe action so I wouldn't make use of the swipe for Google Now.
Currently I have long press of home button to trigger Google Now and then have to say Ok Google to bring up voice search (or double tap home to bring up Samsung's S-Search which I never use).
^ Those Widgets look great. Specifically the weather, calendar and tasks. Mind saying what those are?
I usually keep my main homepage pretty clear but have calendars and other Widgets on the secondary pages. But the Note Pro is so big there's room to stretch out a bit!
Anyone care to share their Google now apk. Thanks in advance

I tried this and while it was very quick, the lack of customizations made me go back to Apex then to Nova Prime. Think I'll stick with Nova for now. Google Launcher is just too basic for me at this point. Good start though.

I got it from here: http://d-h.st/iNW
There's one thing that bugs the crap out of me with the google kitkat launcher. When you hold down on the home screen and it brings up the 3 icons for wallpapers, widgets, and settings. "Settings," when you press it, it takes you to GOOGLE settings. The settings app that most people are unaware even exists. I keep forgetting and clicking on it hoping for the normal settings. Annoys me to no end. I always immediately revert to nova at that time.
There is a xposed module to configure the GEL called "xposed gel settings"
