Goog Bye Streakers ... - Streak 5 General

Hi,
just want to say goodbye. Last week I damaged my Streak 5 (broken screen). I decided to buy a Galaxy Note instead of repairing it.
But the most importent thing I want to say is a BIG THANKS to:
the developers. You do great work and give us lot of good/great Roms. I hope you have luck with the ICS-Roms.
all the people who helped me with tipps and tutorials.
- the moderators of this forums. Also great work.
all other streakers. It's a great community.
I will look back to the streak forums and follow the development. So go on and have fun.
Greetings
scoute-dich

what have you thought of a broken streak now have you sold it ??
if not then,
if your screen visible's something i think you can use apps like idisplay from market which helps display your screen on pc monitor
if it can then you can help our developers alot.
BTW congrats for your new note

All tbe best, enjoy your new toy.

Goodluck with Note

Thanks.
Until now I realy enjoy my new toy. Nearly all works fine. I'm using Paranoid 2.16 (JB-based).
Longer batterylife, better display, lies good in hand, ...
but not so cool like the streak. It's not te same. When my friends saw the streak they always said: "Cool, what's that? Can I see?", now the say: "oh, a note."
OK, I'll see you guys.

Streak 5 have a uniqe design, is good for everything (navigation, phone, browsing ...), it was the first 5 inch phonetablet on market in 2010 when was released. I will not sell it or change it with another phone yet, a have a case from otterbox and display protector from first day on him (i have it from winter 2011) and work very good until now without problems, and yes many friends and people ask me: what is that? i didn't know Dell have something like this, thats awesome .....

The only way to really brick a phone is during a bad radio flash..
Just check your md5 sums and make sure to not flash either new boot file or radio if you have less than 30% battery or with the back cover off (so the battery doesn't fall out)
See ya 'round, chiefy!
I saw your post in the marketplace so I knew this was coming..
Have fun w/the new toy.
Enjoy your new phone man seen you around here alot of times thanks for helping other users and you might regret the fact that it is extremely complicated to root and all that compared to the x10 lol

Hardly...
I have owned many phones and read one quick tutorial and you're set.
Plus the fact you can do much more makes it all worth it.
I know I said my good bye to you through pm already but I thought I'd say it again. I'm sure you'll get much more satisfaction from galaxy being the techy guy that you are and I'm sure in less than a week you'll be on the cyanogenmod nightlies lol
Also I don't know if I ever did thank you proper for the various bits of advice over time you have given me, and also when I put together that tutorial for how to flash 2.2 beta 4 with your help all that time ago.
I wish you the very best for the future and don't be a stranger and your always very welcome to my Facebook group and continue being a mod there

New and proud owner of Note

Hi, everyone
Been looking around this forum for weeks and finally got the Note. We have a great forum here and everyone are very helpful. Came from Atrix forum and it was rough over there .
I got it rooted and had clockworkmod loaded. I got the unlocked international version, even though ATT version is just around the corner. I got constant download speed of 1.5-2.00 mb on ATT HSPA+. Im so glad it has a physical home button. It really help.
When I first held the phone, I thought I got scam and got a fake phone . I was thinking it cannot be this big and light. It took me about 5 minutes to get use to the size. I will never go back to any screen less then 5" again. Love this phone!!!
Anyway, just like to give a little feedback and how great this forum is.

Welcome! I'm a fairly new Note owner too. And I agree with everything you said about the Note. Cheers!
Welcome and don't worry about people asking "does it fit in your jeans?", "wow is that huge", "is this a mobilephone?", "why do you carry a callbox with you?"
It's normal and it's the best smartphone i've ever seen and had in my hands/jeans
I am new too =) welcome
I just updated from a Dell streak, after waiting for like eternity to get a good enough deal on my local network, in the end settled for a unbranded one from Ebay and am quite chuffed as couldn't wait any longer hehe

Living with the Galaxy Note: Thoughts After 5 Days

Friends,
I thought I should share this review video I came across. I have gone through so many galaxy note reviews, but this has been straight up the best. Really feel connected, and I think a lot of the galaxy note current users who love the phone would connect with the review a lot.. and those who are still thinking of buying a Note, definitely check it out.
Excellent review but you should have posted it in the review thread, I can smell the Ganja...
Interesting. I've come to the stage with the SGS2 where I need to gift it to my partner & get a new phone, it being a bit small now it seems to me. I've wondered about the SGS3 but that may not be a lot bigger, 4.65 rumor? So bottom line, the Note is really OK for everyday use?

the Note is supreme, the one to rule them all...The only thing I can see missing is IR port, so it could be used as a TV remote, then it would have been the complete phone..the ultimate..
Ericsson P800 had everything, it was supreme...crappy screen and touch function, but not far from the best.

It is an awesome phone. I've had mine for about a month mine. Switched from an iPhone 4S. Took me a while to get accustomed but after trying multiple roms and kernels, I now don't think I'd go back to the 4S.
mine arrived yesterday, and its a great device, other than I am still wiping drool from it..

A friend of mine got one, it had Android pre-installed on it (second hand) and the hardware specs are pretty good, but I found the phone not that responsive considering the specs. Thats probably because it doesn't run Android natively I think, but it might just be just this situation.
Since its so cheap, I would really consider it
Okay thanks

The phone has a lot of development but I felt it is quite laggy....
I used it with Windows phone and it seemed to have bugged out something and was terribly laggy.....
When I used it with Android, it was a little bit better, but still laggy....
According to me, don't but it.
It's bad because I really like to have the possibility to switch beetween OS, but if it's laggy...no point to buy it

Yes it is but is it really a worthwhile upgrade? I think he should go for a better phone if he actually wants to upgrade or stick with the galaxy 3 as our devs have recently started working 10 times as hard to bring us awesome development such as MIUI, AOKP, G3MOD 3.1, the new Kyorakernel test version, CM7 the list goes on.
in fact the guy with the HD2 didn't contact me yet so i stay with my g3...

Goodbye to an amazing phone

I am giving up my Note.
I pay for my father's phone and his current one has died on him. Because his sight is getting bad he wanted a 'phone like mine' with a massive screen.
I have considered the Note 2 as a replacement or the S3 but am being swayed by the Sony Xperia T as I take a lot of photos on my phone and the camera was my only point of contention with the Note - the camera hardware/optics aren't that great.
Regardless, I'll be visiting another forum soon so I just wanted to say thanks to Chainfire, Dr Ketan and everyone else who has made owning a rooted Note such an amazing experience!

Basically we are so much emotionally attached with community so can't leave without saying see off. Just take it easy, I know other point of view too. But emotion is always beyond the control of we human beings.
So it's ok, may one common thread can be started to say goodbye to all or such kind of thread should be reported by op himself after some period to keep forum clean.

Don't want to start any flaming but my main reason for saying goodbye was to thank those who give their time, free of charge or depending only on donations, to make our phone experience better.
Most people understand the sentiment of thanking someone for having a positive impact on their lives and experiences, but if you don't subscribe to that then just don't contribute!
My next phone will probably be the Xperia T, if I can handle the reduction in screen size that is. My Mrs has just got an Xperia S and its a great phone, the stock software is the best I've ever seen on a phone, build quality is excellent. Thing is things are just getting great with the Note development wise, so will be sticking here at least until the price comes down a little on the T.
Oh and another reason to get a Xperia T - Codeworkx has got one.
Enjoy your new phone, nothing like being new phone happy.:highfive:

I got the Xperia T in the end. So far so good - the half an inch less screen makes a BIG difference but the T is great and once I'd stopped using the Note for a few hours I didn't miss it so much. The camera is just amazing. I RDP to my PC quite a lot and was worried the smaller screen would be an issue but nope, it's fine, so I know it will be fine for everything else too.
This will be my last post in this forum because I can't be bothered with the likes of abhinav and because I'm moving on to pastures new.
