Galaxy S3 mac usb - Galaxy S III General

The usb connection with mac is not working on the s3.
It did work before the phone was updated. I have android file transfer installed. Anyone else facing the same issue?

Mine only worked on stock ICS, as soon as I went to checkrom ICS it stopped working, haven't tried it on checkrom JB yet but am anticipating similar result.

This is really bad by Samsung. EasyUMS only let's you access the external card. Samsung should get their fingers out and fix this problem.

You might want to check AirDroid (free) as a temporary solution. You can access both SD storage with it.

Encryption.... Does it slow down the phone?

I'm thinking about it as I got my old phone stolen and was stupid enough to not have any security apps and such so that was a loss. So now I'm deciding if I should. Does this slow down my phone?

I'm curious to know how much of a performance hit the nexus 4 will take after encryption.... But I'm not testing that loll

I'm interested on trying this
I have a friend who encrypted his Nexus 4 and he says there is no noticeable slow down

OK I'm going to do it!
If I copy/paste to a PC my encrypted nexus 4 phone (to unencrypt it with a master reset)... Will I have some problems?

You mean like transferring files? There should be no problem
The encryption is more for protection against someone finding your phone when it's turned off. When you turn the phone on you are required to put a pin number in before it can even boot. One you have entered this you should be able to do anything a non encrypted phone can do

I'm actually having a lot of problems with 4.2 to Copy internal memory to my PC (using this "MTP" option).
this is off-topic:
For instance, now i have like 40 items on internal memory (40 folders) i'm trying to copy all of them (except sdcard folder) and when the copy/paste is finished, only half of them are passed to my PC. I'm started having this kind of problems in 4.2.X
So i wanted to know if encryption will make all this even more...problematic.

Tried with OS X too, and had the same problem....(too much time calculating the estimated time or preparing to copy...but when it starts..it only copies a few folderss).
I'm going to try to copy/paste with 4 selections of 10 items (folders) instead of one of 40 that always fails. As far as i see...the "android/data" folder is one of the main problems here.
After doing this...i'll try to encrypt my phone.
---------- Post added at 07:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:45 PM ----------
I failed you...i won't try this...because another thing ( i didnt know ) just appeared...
The reason: After encryption i won't be able to user Pattern Unlock. Only PIN or PASSWORD unlock.

There are security options available that shouldn't slow down your phone... I use TrustChip to secure my phone, and TrustCall along with it to encrypt my calls, or if I am sending a file for work. I don't need to be logged into a server to use it, so it doesn't drain the battery or slow down my phone.

I usually just use AirDroid instead of MTP, since wifi transfering seems faster than USB when using it as a MTP device, I kind of miss the old USB mounting style, least could be read/written directly.

You can't do much if nothing other than wifi and network works.
I've tried it, just did a nandroid, flashed it like a normal ROM, and restored the backup half an hour later. Heres the full thread if you are interested;

I haven't noticed... are you using a USB 3.0 port with original cable? I noticed the one that came with it was a thicker cable than your traditional ones. I like to upload to dropbox then download it seems to be quick and I can access it from anywhere.

By slow, how slow do you mean? I never connect my phone physically to the PC, I always use Wireless Storage. When writing multiple files to the phone... like over a thousand files mostly pictures and totaling to about 1.75GB, I was getting speeds of over 1MB/s. That's about the same speed I've seen with other phones... or have I just been experiencing slow speeds with other phones too?
Thank Google and the mtp protocol

Use airdroid to transfer the files wirelessly across your network. I hate mtp.
Jeez Google, was USB mass storage mode THAT bad?

I'll assume it had to do with idiots idioting up there file system when it's non sd our emulation issues? I'm probably wrong. I miss it.

Can't root with Kingo

I apologize in advance if this has been asked before. I just got my note 3 today its MJ7 and Kingo just hangs on connecting forever it for 10...20...30 minutes. I have disabled anti virus I have enabled usb debugging set screen timeout to 10 minutes and nothing is working. I even unistalled the drivers reinstalled them and even let the Kingo app install. Should I just update to the newest and try like that?
Much help appreciated

You can use any micro usb cable. It doesn't have to be the 3.0 cable. A standard micro usb cable fits in the right side of the charging port.
