[Q] Not able to boot Idea Blade (256 MB RAM) into ClockWorkMod - Blade General

Dear All,
I have Idea ZTE Blade (256 MB RAM)
I have rooted it and installed ClockWorkMode Recovery through ROM Manager. Have flashed latest clockworkMod 5.0.2.0 available from ROM Manager for ZTE Blade. It is not showing ClockWorkMod 6.x version for ZTE Blade in ROM Manager. My problem is that when I choose to reboot into recovery for taking backup of current ROM, its gets restarted and gets stuck on green android logo forever.
In short I can't boot Idea ZTE Blade into clockworkmod recovery mode. I want to install 2.3 Ginderbread so that it can run bit smooth faster than current 2.2 version. The phone is properly rooted and CWM has been given access by superuser too.
I also removed battery of blade and reinserted after a while. Then while restarting I hold down power on key+volume down key together. But still its gets stuck on green android logo forever.
I even tried the method of Recovery Manager (2. Through Recovery Manager) posted at --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1713419&gt
But still same result. its gets stuck on green android logo forever. I cannot go into CWM.
Kindly help me getting out of this stuck position so that I can install custom rom.

Hi Matt,
I have checked that and from there only I have applied the procedure mentioned in "2. Through Recovery Manager:". But still I am stuck at green Android logo when I press power + volume down key during startup.
I have not yet tried "1 . Through ADB " procedure, as it is more technical, though I understand Linux commands. But I am not very clear about which command prompt mentioned in that procedure. --> "(make sure you're in the command prompt and have changed directory to where the adb file is)". Could you please clarify.
Whether following ADB procedure instead of Recovery Manager procedure would help? If somehow Recovery Manager procedure works, then nothing like it.
Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

I got a solution. With home+volume up+power button combination, I am in CWM Recovery screen of Idea Blade!!
Will now install Cutom ROMs and see.

This happened with me too. cwm 5.0.2.0 is a little buggy for blade. so what you can do is:
1. Go to Rom Manager.
2 go down a little bit till u find "All ClockworkMod Recoveries ". click it and flash an older recovery preferably 5.0.1.0.
3.Done!

This happened to me also. Just installed (flashed) older version of CWM and it worked. Then once I got backup then I upgraded CWM.
It was fine.

You can use my 6.0.1.1 it's compatible with gen 1/2/3 and idea blade. It's stable and it is a touch recovery.

I tried to root and backup my ROM today using the method given in http:**ideabladesupport.blogspot.in/2012/03/upgrading-idea-blade-to-android-235.html. After pressing 'backup my current ROM' through ROM manager, my phone is not booting and stuck and green screen.
I tried 'power + vol down' or other options given here, but none worked. Its not even opening anything just the green screen.
Please help me if there is some way to save my phone. Any help is appreciated.

[Q] Return to stock rom (LG GT540)

Hello!
I got cyangenmod 7.1.0 with swiftdroid and now I want to return to stock ROM. I tried this tutorial but without success, when I plug in my phone and press start nothing happens. Is there any easier way (for noobs)?
I got LG GT540.
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
solution software bricked
After flashing with stock rom v2.1 successfully using kdz updater, the phone was stuck on boot logo or there was infinite boot load cycle (depends of the stock rom used).
Now, if you have software bricked LG GT540 before becoming another brick of your house try this:
1. Install Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread Cyanogenmod 7.1 using this
Code:
modaco.com/topic/344369-2nov11-android-237-gingerbread-swiftdroid-cm-71-for-lg-gt540-new-method/
tutorial. Now I want to mention ignore step 9 because you obviously can't boot. Now other thing to boot into fastboot mode press VOLUME UP + SEARCH button and plug the USB cable into the PC. If that don't works press VOLUME UP + SEARCH + POWER ON and wait until FastBoot Mode is shown on the screen of the phone or nothing is shown on the screen (don't worry if you see nothing you're probably in fast boot mode). Then proceed with the rest of the tutorial.
2. Now if you have your phone up and working and want to upgrade to ice sandwich follow this
Code:
androidforums.com/lg-optimus-gt540/494941-update-4-0-lg-gt-540-a.html
tutorial Section 2.
I was messing around all day to workaround this problem and the conclusion is that: this is the ONLY way it worked. I tried all possible ways to flash to stock rom but still stuck on the boot logo.
Hope that I helped someone with the same problem.
Regards.

Cool it works like a charm. I found this .zip with European Open V20A + fastboot.
Btw, do you know what combination of keys would put me in CWM (when starting the phone) or how to get "POWER button until it appears to turn off the menu, select REBOOT and then select RECOVERY, the phone will reboot into Recovery Menu." ?
I tried pressing Power Off+Home or only Home on LG logo but still nothing, it just went into safe mode.
Thanks a lot for the help.
Regards.

boot to recovery
Hi, there are several ways to boot in recovery, i use two:
1-with s7 connected to pc execute "adb reboot recovey"
2-with s7 powered off, click "menu + call (green button) + power" for 30 seconds, or until the cwm menu apear.
There is several version of cwm for the s7-10x, depends in version of installed firmware, the more recent one that works best is version 6.1.2 by ere, google is your best friend to find it, if not tell me and i will upload the file.
Hope it helps,

Thanks, now I am able to boot in recovery mode......I did copied cyanogenmod 9 "cm-9-20120913-EXPERIMENTAL-s7-asturel.zip", but my screen is stuck on IDEOS logo..I waited for 30 mins or so, but still on the same logo...so I had to restore from backup...any thoughts on this...plz help...:cyclops:
Hi, i havent try cm9 by asturel, you can try flash it again, the problem is that cm9 and cm10 needs special kernel to boot, diferent then the stock kernel.
if the device does not boot in 10 minutes some thing wrong happended, you can try flash the kernel first and then the roms, inside the zip file there is a file "boot.img" thats the kernel, steps :
1-backup the working rom , always a good ideia :good:
2-boot in fast mode "vol up+home+power", fastboot mode apear on screen
3-connect s7 to pc, execute "fastboot flash boot boot.img", the boot.img file must be on same directory as fastboot
4-to reboot execute "fastboot reboot"
5-menu+call+power go to cwm install zip file, install the rom
If doest work, try other rom, there is several model of s7-10x, not all rom are compatible

[Q] Recovery mode not working, how to fix?

Normally I can figure out these things my self or find somebody else who has this problem, but not this time and It's driving me crazy.
My Nexus 7 is rooted and bootloader is unlocked and I've have been into custom recovery before, but now it don't want to launch the damn thing, it keeps getting stuck on the Android on it's belly with the red !
I've tried:
The normal way - Holding down power button+both volume buttons and then choosing recovery from the menu and with a USB cable attached to the unit. Result = Stuck on Android with red !
From quick boot app and Nexus Toolkit - Rebooting into to recovery, same result. Both with USB cable in and out.
I also tried reflashing the clockworkmod touch recovery from Nexus 7 Toolkit, no errors and I remembered to use the option 5, so the stock recovery image was renamed. Still no good, didn't leave a working recovery behind.
The latest thing I tried was booting the custom recovery without flashing recovery (option 10 from Nexus Toolkit) and then I updated to Android 4.2 Before I rebooted, the temporary clockworkmod touch recovery warned me that I would loose my recovery and my root and if I wanted to fix it, I choose yes to both. My root didn't go away, but I still don't have a working custom recovery I can boot from the bootloader or eg. the quick boot app.
What am I missing here?
To be on the safe side, just reflash CWM. That should fix it.
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk 2
You got stock recovery.
To get the menu, once you see the android with the red "!", press and hold "Power" and then press "Volume Up", then let go of the buttons.
As the previous poster suggested, flash CWM and all shall be better.
Thanks for the fast replies.
I had an idea that It was stock recovery, didn't knew about the button combination, thanks!
I'm gonna try to flash touch CWM again.
And now it works... well that's strange, no idea why it didn't work before, when I flashed touch CWM from Nexus Tookit.
Oh well, I got my problem fixed and at the same time got more clever, thanks again.
Same/similar problem
I flashed the 4.2 OTA .zip from CWM this morning and it worked fine. As expected I lost root. Unexpectedly, I also lost CWM and I have been unable to flash a custom recovery ever since.
I started off trying to re-flash CWM with the Nexus 7 Toolkit v3.2. When that failed a few times, I also tried TWRP with the same result.
When I say "failed" I mean that toolkit flashes with no errors but when I select recovery after flashing, I get the google logo, then a black screen, then the google logo again, and then a normal boot. If I reboot and manually go into recovery mode I get the Dead Android logo and PWR + VOLUP gives me stock recovery, which I guess is to be expected since I am unable to rename the recovery restore files.
After giving up on the toolkit, I downloaded CWM and flashed it manually with fastboot but I'm getting the same results.
Anyone else run into this? I can only assume 4.2 has introduced some incompatibility with existing tools/recovery images so I'm just going to wait and hope someone sorts this out. 4.2 seems to be working fine though I'd like to get root back.

Hm, works fine for me.
After applying the 4.2 OTA I rebooted to bootloader, did a "fastboot flash recovery", went into the CWM directely after flashing it and upon selecting "reboot device now" from CWM it asked me if it should disable the recovery flash from the system.
Working fine since then, no problems.
When I do a "fastboot flash recovery", the image copy appears to work but the Nexus 7 stays in fastboot mode when it's finished. If I manually select recovery, I get the Google logo > black screen > Google Logo > normal boot.
What version of CWM did you flash? I used touch recovery 6.0.1.0 from here: http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager Will try non-touch version today.
It looks like a few others have run into the same problem. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990904
This could have been a pre-existing problem as I don't think I've used recovery since the 4.1.2 update.

Neither of the current CWM recoveries (6.0.1.0) would work for me.
I swear I have been having the exact same problem. I will try the other recovery. Question, is yours a 32 GB version? I doubt it's related but still worth a check. Thanks for your info.

SOLUTION: I've had the problem where recovery won't load, it just displays a black screen and loads back into Android.
It seems that ClockworkMod recovery doesn't work with Android 4.2 (at least, for me). I tried reflashing but that didn't work. I wiped my entire device and used TWRP recovery instead, and now I can get back into recovery.
I downloaded the 2.3.1.1 version, works fine! http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/grouper

Do you mean that you cannot get out of the Android with (!) screen? If this is all it is just press and hold power button for about 20 seconds or until screen goes black, and then the device should startup normally.:good:

How can I go back to windows and try again from scratch? Or Advise you. I tried to install the RUU from htc official site but the phone does not respond. Because the error perhaps?
if you have problem about (Opening update package...), why not try other ROMs, also tap on wipe/factory reset then begin installing the ROM.

You didn't install drivers ADB, see this... and that's why your computer didn't find your device:
