Thanks in advance!!!

Pros:
Itś very thin and the weight is really light. iś very responsive and the android 4.0 works right. The camera is better than I expected and it does not overhead too much (and just from the right side). And of course its price , it is a real good price!!! The shippment was good, it was free and it took about 12 days to come to USA, so it was really good!!! (And it has not problem going through customs).
Cons:
Sometimes gets a little slow or freeze but not much, in theses cases you just have to wait or to close some apps and it will become normal again. You have to think that it is not a top tablet, as you can see by the screen or the graphics but anyway I have to say that both are really good for this price.
Also I have problems with the charger, it didnt work but it doesnt matter, beacuse it can be charge with a mini usb charger, so it is perfect!!!!

Have you tried this ROM on the tablet? A friend of mine just got one as well, and I'm also thinking about it. I'd be interested in hearing the results if you try this ROM...

Anyone else get this tablet yet to post a little mini review?

My friend has done a short video unboxing/review of the tablet here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxN9wT_0wxk
It's either the very same tablet, or a nearly identical rebranded version.

Wow. $60! Yeah the screen resolution is as low as it gets but my kids don't care. I might order them for Christmas for my kids so my wife and I can use our N7s once in a while.

Does this thing has GPS receiver?

I upgraded to a Nexus 7 and gave this one to my lil girl. She LOVES this thing. Low resolution be damned. Temple Run and Angry Birds are her favorites. Plus I slapped a couple doodling apps on there and some educational stuff for her ABC's and numbers. It'd be a great gift.

Thats exactly why i was looking into this. Thanks

guys do you know how I could possibly root this tablet?

I bought this tablet from aliexpress. Also $59.30 (cover and shipment to spain included). It works ok for its price, but it has no GPS (this is for the one who asked it). Now I'm trying to root it and perhaps try another rom (still looking). If anybody's got more info it would be appreciated.

battery life and screen
Those a y'all who done bought this,
What sort of battery life are you seeing? Is the screen comfortable for reading?
Thanks for your impressions!

I have one, from the same geekbuying link posted in the first post. Definitely not screaming fast (wish I could downgrade to GB), but it works. I have not had good luck with getting the Google Market to run, so I have sideloaded everything.
The good news, it is already rooted. You won't find an su type app in the app drawer, but you can run apps that require root. The thing never bothers to ask you if you will grant root to the app. It just assumes you do
I'd like to find an updated ROM, but for now, as a 1-2 app device, it does the job.

[Review] Samsung Conquer 4G

Picked this phone up for the wife last night, finally converted her from her blackberry curve....yuck. Pretty good phone, screen obvoiusly not my epic but perfect for her. Very snappy, first thing i noticed was when you pull the notification menu down, there are no toggles there which i though sucks since im so used to it. havent tested out the camera yet, it is super thin, damn near just the size of our screens, so if you could take off the keyboard.
The back of the phone looks exactly like the leaked pictures of the "Epic Touch 4G" and it is a really nice addition, good grip, looks good, and wont scratch.
She is in love already, ill post up here after a couple days on the battery.
i thought it looked like a good little phone. as for the buttons on the top of the dock most of them are replicated with the power widget
I would like to add, Notification Toggle in the Market is a great app to add the switches in the pull down.
I wanted to check this phone out for my daighter, I bought her an LG Optimus S and she wants to upgrade. Thanks for the insight

Any reason you choose this over a cheaper phone like the nexus S 4g? It has a better screen, better camera, and faster or similiar performance.

It's kinda funny, I've come to figure out that the toggle controls in the notification bar have almost become a must have for me in a phone. I can't explain it, I just like/want that feature that much. Granted I'm picking up the GS2, so its all good

Im married, I choose my battles wisely, not to mention at least she will get to play with this one before i do since there is -Zero- community for it at the moment, the Nexus i would have probably "had to take with me to work so i can make sure everything is working correctly" he he he he.
Also, i wanted to make sure that she had a lesser of a screen for better juice, the girl is a facebook nut, and im sure will have a million things constantly updating, i already got yelled at for lowering her screen timeout to 30 seconds from a min.
I'm still trying to convince her that i really need to keep my dirtbike since its a great workout.....ill let her pick the phone.

I bought my gf a LG Optimus T. They have CM7 on there and the phone rocks with that done to it. It also gets great battery life with some custom kernel and OC. Might want to look into that before you upgrade her phone for her.

Aye. Got a Droid 2 Global for my wife, for that same LCD screen (and battery savings). Her phone is completely stock and her battery lasts 2x longer than my Epic.

SRobby -- Thanks for your review/comments about the Conquer 4G. I've been thinking about upgrading to this one as well, and right now Sprint is offering it for free online with a new 2-yr contract. Since I'm on a budget and can't really afford a snazzy top of the line upgrade, FREE is pretty attractive right now.
Any updates on the Conquer's performance after your wife has been using it for a few months? Has she been noticing any issues?

People who possess nexus 4

For people who already have Nexus 4.....
1) How is the battery life. After reading a lot of reviews, it says that battery life is pretty bad.
2) How is the call quality?
3) Would you recommend upgrading from Galaxy Nexus (which one is better).
Thanks a lot in advance. I will be hitting 'thanks' button
Just Google it.
There's a 3 minute video when you register stating that you can just use the search function or just Google it.
Upgrading from GNexus is well worth it.
Call quality is decent.
It will get you through the day with mild use (Slight Gaming, Video, Browsing, Calling)
It IS a 2100 MaH, which the largest any Phone actually has, and you would be able to increase the battery life using a good Kernel and/or ROM.

Reviews dont give out all the information.
For example, someone got the device and posted on XDA on the 13th, said that the phones makes noises when you shake the phone.
He later found out that it is accelerometer that is making that sound. When went back to the store and checked all devices,
all of the phones made that same noice.

The phone is utterly fantastic.
Battery life is moderate.
Call quality is good
The experience of using the device, for any task, is a complete joy.
Ultimately it comes down to the price, and I say this reluctantly, because, since using it, the price seems almost like a secondary feature. Almost like "oh and this phone has NFC!"
But frankly for £279 it is so utterly beyond anything else out on the market today that I'd recommend it to any single person looking to get a smartphone.
When I got my galay s2 a fair while ago, I felt like it was exceptional value, for everything it offered and how much it was.
If the galaxy s2 was good value, then this phone is the epitome of value.
In every single way it screams valuable, that is in every way except the price. Buy It.

I had like 2 movies 200 songs and several large games in the 5 gig all about how you use it. I got the 8gb because i put 2 movies and few songs and maybe 1 or 2 big games i dont use alot of apps no issue for me. Plus I only had 300 dollars to spend anyway lol.
its 5.67 on the 8 gig model for users

Honestly, I don't see why people care about the "rattle." You have to shake the phone decently hard, and it's going to be inaudible when any other noise is present. It's not loud at all.

Htc one first impressions/real world review thread

Ok so I FINALLY got my ONE today!! Happy to be one of the minority as not many people have this phone yet
After months of videos, articles, threads on xda and various articles the time is here.
These are my first impressions as I've had the phone for a good 12hours now. First time you take it out of the box is just WOW this thing is just quality...100% premium feeling and truly well crafted well done HTC. Its really light and it's quite tall (compared to my old desire hd).
When you turn it on you will be blown away/scared by how loud these speakers are, boomsound is not a joke people this is the real deal! Then listen to some music on this, it sounds awesome. There is even some bass in it which pleased me the most! Really, really loud I gurantee no need for dock or portable speakers.
The screen is mindblowing, especially when your coming from a device with 800x400 resolution like me. The difference is just incredible. Colours are vibrant and natural at the same time unlike the over saturated, way to contrast high colours on the AMOLED. Viewing angles are perfect and it's really bright, I had to turn it down because it stared burning my eyes :/ lol! Blacks are good and whites are good and not blue or yellow.
Sense 5 is just sexy as f***k <3 touchwiz has no comparison against this tbh! Everything looks sleek and very clean. No bloat and actually is better than stock...stock is just too plain imho. I don't like some things like the new way to move apps to your homescreen from the app drawer. The three dot menu but hopefully HTC fix that in an update, if not then I'm going to root this so that's cool. Blinkfeed is ok, I can see that it won't be liked by everyone. I'm already slightly bored of it! When HTC let us add sources I can see this being a success, I know I'd use it more if you liked the hundred plus widget selection of the past HTC sense versions then you may not like that a lot of the widgets are gone! I think this is a good thing I can see that HTC are trying to make you use blinkfeed as your homescreen and the app drawer as the traditional type home screen by alloowing you to make folders.
Regarding music, beats audio is classed as a gimmick and the headphones as overpriced. I agree on the second claim and used to think the same for beats audio before. But it seems as if they have actually made it good and optimised it. It makes the speakers and music played through headphones MUCH MUCH better.
The notification light has pleased me also. It bright and is seen very easily.
The phone has been lag free. A major step up from my single core desire hd super fast, can have like 20 apps open with no lag at all. Multitasking is soo good.
I've already got used to the button layout. Only messed up like twice hopefully the HTC logo thing becomes a real thing.
The phone came with like 45% battery, (5.00pm) after HEAVY HEAVY usage as I'm sure everyone does when they get a new toy it does on me at 1.30am. So 8hours of constant hammerage seems reallllyyy good so far!! Havent gone through a proper cycle of charged it fully yet so can't say anything else on the battery.
However, the phone does tend to get a bit warm every know and then. Not like ohh it's burning but just slightly warm which is expected with most of these quad core beasts.
I took a couple of random pics with the camera, looking good so far but that's on the phones screen and just random ish. Haven't tested front facing cam or video recording yet.
Last point for now (I know I'm forgetting a lot of things)... The phone is quite slippery seeing as I am the only numpty who would end up dropping his phone from ABOVE WAIST HEIGHT within a couple of hours of use. To my surprise not even a scratch, nothing to be seen on the phone. Almost had a mini heart attack but it proved that it's well built
Ohh and the power button is kinda flush so hard to find at times but I'm already getting used to it. The screen also seems to be very good at hiding fingerprints
That's all for now, time to fully charge this badboy and get some sleep myself.

Do a test on the video camera at 1080p and review it on a pc.. Every review that has actually done a video test has looked like the FPS still drops in the low 20's which has been pretty typical of every HTC phone I've seen, especially in low light.

The Z and One are beautiful phones. Two of the best built and looking phones ever created in my opinion.

Just do it...

Don't see how some people are on the fence. The screen alone is worth the price of admission. Pictures and videos look very sharp and realistic. Other than that it's super fast, and very light.

Kindles suck. If you don't root, the only thing they have going for them

I don't like them either, but I doubt that they "suck". Not everyone uses a tablet the same way as you do. Some people who are wedded to Amazon's ecosystem will simply never leverage the full capabilities of a "stock" Android ecosystem. Sure, the Kindle locks down a lot of things (a little a la iOS), but as we've seen both approaches can be successful with consumers.
Actually just returned mine back to BestBuy. At the end of the day I really didn't/don't need a tablet. Convinced myself that I did and had this bug to go get one (combined with all the hype). Fine, got one and then what... I already have a Note 2 that I do most stuff on, so this would just be a stretched out duplicatory device in the end.
If I didn't already have the Note 2 I would have kept it. Nice screen, easy to hold in one hand etc, but honestly it would have ended up just being used when on the toilet..

I guess a gnote2 is nearly a tablet. Still, I think it makes a lot of sense to carry around a small tablet like the n7 so you can really immerse yourself in media (movies, reading, games) and have your smart phone for communication purposes, which also means for battery saving purposes. I know that the Note 2 has a huge battery, but not one sufficiently large to negate the benefit of having a secondary device for entertainment purposes. Another thing that comes to mind is that it's simply convenient to be able to make or receive a phone call or respond to a facebook message without interrupting your current game session and having to switch to a different app (as you would have to if you relied on a single device for all your technology needs at a given moment).

Don't see how some people are on the fence. The screen alone is worth the price of admission. Pictures and videos look very sharp and realistic. Other than that it's super fast, and very light.

I already have the Nook HD+ 32gb for $80 less and has SD slot, plus dead simple to root and mod. Literally as easy as rebooting with an sd card to root and flash the roms.
Too many game roms, media and comics to not have the 64gb card in place. Clouds are not practical compared to local storage.
Still, I am tempted. Just not seeing how $80 more and less storage makes sense. I compared them a lot, but game emulators, media and comics perform the same. Difference in favor for comics goes to the Nook and newer 3D games like Asphalt 7 and Nova 3 go to the N7.
If the N7 had an sd slot, I would agree already.

I've got a Note 2 and an Asus Infinity (10.1" tablet), but i still bought the '13 N7. No, I never use all 3 at once. Actually, I'll probably never use just 1 as much as most people who don't have multiple devices. That said, they each have their strong points, and I use them each in different situations. Just depends on what I'm wanting to do at the moment. Everyone has their own wants an needs though, sorry that it didn't work out for ya.

How is the nexus 4

Hi I've been looking into getting a nexus 4 for a while I just want to know what are the ups and downs of it, I've looked through a bit of the thread and haven't really seen anything bad, just wanting to know how the device is and such not too worried about any custom software glitches or anything. Thanks

Well, I don't think you can get that performance for that money in any other phone atm.
The sound is a little low, although I've seen fixes for that if it bothers you. The camera is average for a modern smartphone. As is the battery life.
Big plus: Always having the latest updates. Also, the Support should last quite a while.
What else...I like the NFC technology and playing around with tags. Easier than I thought, too.
Looking into buying a QI charger atm. Being able to use those is another nice feature.
Then there is the look of the back Of course that's only good for something when you don't hide it in a bumper or case.
You can't get anything better if you're on a tight budget imho. :good:

Thank you for the insight, sadly as much as i would love to be an owner of one of these great devices i have no budget (as in no income) but heres hoping i get a job soon so get one, before the nexus 5 comes out and no longer can get a nexus 4
I lovetheNexus 4. True other phones have better hardware. But you get it for the same price you pay for one of the other phones on a 2 year contract. I enjoy the freedom.
