There is, i cant tell you the exact name but it definately exists. Last time i used it it was a bit jittery and sluggish but that was a good while ago.

Anything similar to BBM for android?

Title states my question, but I would like to know if there is anything similar and if not...would anyone welcome it and and features that would be nice to have like being able to chat with other IMs for example
Thanks

just wait..if this is like trillians desktop client...we are in for a big treat. I love trillian!
I've never used BBM but I've been told Google Talk is similar and I think there's a Talk app for most smartphones, so you could give it a try until Trillian comes out.
Here's the IM application. Though I think you need r/w access to install it. I tried to push it and it failed.

whoops, I got it pushed. Now i need to find some friends.
I might be misunderstood, I am not necessarily asking for an app similar to it to actually personally use. I was wanting to try and make one better than the rest...and responsive like BBM, but if these others are awesome then i wont waste my time. Thanks for the help and feed back, i will definitely look into some of these and if i feel they arent good enough then i will make one then ;P
Edit: What info do you have on ImProvider...the site i found is chinese and doesnt have much info at all
ImProvider.apk is Google Talk, which is like BBM.
See here on how to install it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735625
Thanks for that information

[Q] DDMS Problems

Hey there I looked around and couldn't find anything specific to my problem without there being a twist so I figured I would start my own thread.
I have a fascinate that I'm trying to take screenshots with. I'm on Windows Vista 64bit. I've done the drivers, sdk, usb debugging, java, blah blah but when I open up DDMS my phone isn't there. My phone DOES connect to the computer to where I can upload/down files, music, pictures etc and works perfectly BUT it won't show up in DDMS what so ever.
Any clue?
I had this same problem a few weeks ago and downloading the 32bit drivers also fixed it

Just tried it and no luck. I've looked at every other thread about DDMS problems and tried everything and it doesn't make much sense to me.
If you're rooted, you can get an app like ShootMe from the Market. It's free.
God luck.

Hmm...I'll look into it more. Sucks that you need to do all this for a freakin' screenshot. Don't know what Google was thinking when it came to this.
What phone did you own before the fascinate?
Figured it out. Not really but yea. I ... I'm not sure what I did but it's working now lol

Computer won't recognize my Hero as a flash drive..

Whenever I try to put my phone into mass storage mode, my computer won't recognize and it does nothing. Btw, I'm running win7 and my phone is running aospMOD.
You may need to download a driver for windows 7, the one included with the phone might not be right. Just google something like "cdma hero device driver windows 7"

U need to Google HTC hero drivers then it should be one of the first links that pops up if u have 64bit check that then download once there downloaded go to devices and printers right click on android phone then find were it says update drivers make sure the drivers are on your desktop then when u update the drivers press search windows for drivers not the automatic one then click on the desktop after that it should automatically install them

I have this exact same problem but only with the Froyo/GB roms. When I installed a sense rom the USB mode worked just fine. I'll try installing this apk and update in a few since I'm currently running the GB rom.
Its works fine for me on cm6.1 and asop after u update your drivers and once u plug it in make sure u press mount USB on the phone

RealVNC.
Works, No Issues. Dont know whether it will work over a USB Cable.
I'm curious as to what purpose you want to be able to do this? What are you wanting to do?
And why not just connect a keyboard and mouse via USB OTG or bluetooth? Saves having to install another app on your phone.

Plus, why wouldn't you? I even thought of using it as a back up camera for trips. Hell, even just to experiment.

usb cam on nexus 7
I have a logitech quickcam pro 9000 mounted on the nexus with sticky mount.
I havent found any application yet to get it working.
I have tried several apks, like "usb cam Controller" and others. Unmounting the camera while this apk is running gives a message "camera detached".

I find most people tend to think anything bigger then a tiny phone or actual camera looks far too silly to use for a camera...
I find the 7 inch tablet standard to be awesome for taking pictures though. I'd be interested in trying to get some external camera to work, just have to see if I even have one lying around though
Check over at slatedroid.com under viewsonic gtablet then under ROM/development. Look through the last 10 pages or so of their ICS thread. They had a USB Cam working (or do a search for USB cam). I'm sure the script or driver could be ported over by someone. Sorry for another website mention, I'm just trying to help. Also you could contact fosser2 at slatedroid (I think he's on xda also).
