Google Apps without rooting - 7" Kindle Fire HD General

I have got YouTube, Gmail, Currents and Google Maps working in the Kindle Fire HD without rooting. However Google Maps is not able to get the location from Wifi and is not able to sign in using the following process. I was unable to get GTalk (also attached) to work so far. The following process does not use GoogleServicesFramework as was used in the Gingerbread version of Kindle Fire.
I have modded the apps with high resolution 256x256 icons for display in Kindle Fire Carousel using the following guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1495854
I have used You Tube 3.5.5 modded for HD playback. Alternatively this works with any of the APKs found in the following topic or built for Ice Cream Sandwich.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529715
1. Enable installation of applications from unknown sources in Kindle Fire Settings.
2. Install GoogleLoginService.apk.
3. Reboot.
4. Install the Google Apps.
5. Start YouTube. Sign In. It will take you to Google Account Manager to create/use existing Google credentials.
6. Same goes for other apps. In case sign in fails for any of the apps (except Maps/GTalk) drag down the Kindle Fire notification bar, click on the notification for "Permission requested....." and assign required permissions.
The files can be downloaded from here

UPDATE: Thanks to alkemist80, installing GoogleServicesFramework.apk, rebooting & installing Talk from the following post, Talk works perfectly fine on Kindle Fire HD, unless it goes into sleep mode.
(If existing apps stop responding at this point, remove and reinstall them)

When I first got my fire I side loaded Gtalk after installing GoogleServicesFramework and it worked fine. I just installed the GoogleLoginService.apk and was able to log in to Youtube just fine but that does seem to have broken Gtalk for me. The gtalk .apk I was using just hangs while trying to sign me in. The one you provided immediately force closes when I try to open it. It seems to be trying to log me in as "@youtube.com" as opposed to "@gmail.com". I have been able to get it to let me sign incorrectly with gmail/drive/youtube but I don't get a chance to choose my log in as gtalk tries to start right up. That is weird that is was working before and now it's not. Any ideas?
Update: Using a google maps .apk I had as opposed to the one you included I was able to get maps up and running flawlessly as well as Navigation with turn by turn. I was also able to get Google Drive working as well. Here is the maps .apk I used:https://www.dropbox.com/s/lh5a4h9i6ex3nhv/com.google.android.apps.maps-1.apk

Thanks for the maps apk, I will try it out. Well, multiple google/drive/youtube login thing never happened for me. Are you having both of these files - Gingerbread version of GoogleServicesFramework.apk and ICS version of GoogleLoginService.apk in the system? It could cause a problem. Otherwise doing a Clear Data on the GoogleLoginService (Google Account Manager) may clean up those ids.

drive
I can't get drive to.work. keeps telling me that drive has stopped. I installed it from 1mobile and app brain. Any suggestions?

Also I believe he is referring to going into the Application Management settings area and clearing the data.
Thanks!

How did you get gtalk to work? Which apk did you use? My fire HD is rooted and GoogleServicesFramework installed and every time I open gtalk, it force closes immediately. I hardly even get a chance to see the error screen before it clears. Everything else I have installed works, play, maps and youtube.

Where did you get the apk for GoogleServiceFramework? I tried using one from my Nexus 7, but it would not install. Maybe because it is JB and I need an ICS version? Thanks.

Don't mean to hijack this thread and I don't think PM is working for me yet, but I just wanted to know if you had disconnection issues with Gtalk when the fire HD goes to sleep. Can't seem to figure this out.

I got it from here: http://mediafire.com/?zaumfwhraxcifqf

I'm still having trouble with Drive. Youtube works, maps work, currents work, and so does Google books. I would really like Drive.to work as well.
Here's what it does. I have the Google accounts all installed but not the framework. When I had the framework installed quite a few programs stopped working. Now when I install drive, about 2 seconds later I get a message that drive has stopped. Then I go to the home screen and then get another drive has stopped message. If I try running it, a few times it looks like it is doing something, but I end up with the same.message. sometimes when I true running it I just get the message.
Yes, I've shut down several times. Any advice is appreciated.

I had some apps working using only the OP instructions; that is I wasn't running the framework at all. When I loaded the framework (then rebooted) so I could run the rest, most previously working apps stopped working. I found that if I reinstalled (no need to uninstall) those apps via ES file explorer (it has supervisor permissions) they immediately started working. I did root last night, but have not messed with the system folder to load Play as there is no backup yet. Not sure root is needed though, nor if supervisor permissions is an issue. Every app works great now. Only weirdness is Maps shows my position about 500 yards off target, while mapQuest is spot on. No biggie, just strange.
Thanks to the OP and others for getting us this far.

Well, this might be the Gingerbread version of Talk. The ICS versions I have are all > 2MB. The Gingerbread GoogleServicesFramework - Gingerbread Talk combination works fine in the ICS Kindle Fire HD but it messes up other Google Apps. Also I am unable to install any ICS version of GoogleServicesFramework yet. And the ICS version of Talk is unable to login without the Framework.

4.0.3 GoogleServicesFramework and Gtalk app from my EVO 3D. Both are running on my ROOTED kindle fire HD, no problems with google maps, play store or youtubeHD. However Gtalk does not seem to be supporting the front facing camera and causes the app to crash if you or someone else tries to connect via camera. Still trying to get gmail to function correctly, it will not push emails.
I seem to still be running into issues with Gtalk logging out while the device is in sleep mode.

Was a super simple install process, but I made a quick video anyways:
And if you haven't rooted: Rooting with Gingerbreak (required to install):
Hmm yeterday i tested it with my firend who has a Nexus S the only thing is he could not hear me..i could see him and hear him but he could only see me. Dis anyone else test this and can you confirm your audio works?
I tried to installed it. It says "Installing Google Video Chat" for past 45 mins and nothing is happening. Tired it twice. I have rooted the device. Also made sure the install have Superuser permission. What to do ?
try enabling usb debugging hope it helps

It deletes your account details, so you have to re-sign back in to Google services/account.
As for contacts they should be backed up on to google contacts and will re-sync back down after you sign back in.
my arc still reboot when I open the prog.
I did it many times

[Solved] New Google Play .apk?

Just wondering since Google is updating the android market to a newer version that's all encompassing (music, apps, books, movies) called Google Play, if our rooted KF's are going to see the update OTA or if we'll need to sideload it? If sideloading will be the option, will it be the same as sideloading the current market .apk or will we need to employ new steps? Thx
Here is link to apk from rootzwiki: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/20095-android-market-apk-google-play-3612/
Update: Got both my KF & Infuse 4G updated!
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
I dunno, but my market shows all the play stuff when I'm in it.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
My Kindle Fire (rooted CM9) got the OTA update and it removed my market app and added the play app in its place, i didnt even realize it till a couple of minutes ago lol
I got the "upgrade" the last time i opened the Market. Hadn't heard anything about it prior, so I was kinda freaked out. I didn't know what to do for a second.
Thanks for this, as I got totally screwed by Google on the update. I clicked "what's this?", my web browser opened up, and afterwards my Market icon was gone, as well as the upgrade process. To re-install Market requires a hard reset! Freaking Google. I hate not being in control of my own damn phone.
Works great on the Inspire 4G, thanks
Go into the settings of your phone, then apps (all), then go to the market app.
Do a 'Clear Data' on the Market app.
Next time you start up your Market app you should have to agree to terms, and then the app will update to Google Play.

Nope, wasn't in the list! Totally gone. Good thing the .apk was there above, disguised as a .zip file. Installed fine.
So I was able to install the google play apk on my unrooted kindle fire and I can now browse the market, but the only thing is that it forces close when I try to download app updates or any new apps. Any ideas?
Installed Google Play on my Rooted Kindle fire, running Stock ROM, it had removed the 'MARKET' and added 'Play Store', i guess its the same thing? i dont know the difference? can anyone explain please?
Thanks
They basically just renamed the app from Market to Google Play. Does the same things as before. This is not the first time it has been updated.
On my Rezound phone, I renamed it back to Market and changed the Icon back to the old icon.
**Edit** Just did it to the KF now too. Screen cap of it below:

Try clearing the cache and data for the app and see if that will help. That's worked for me in the past. Hope this helps.

[GUIDE] Sideload apps without root

Ok so this thread is for all the newbies out there who want to side load apps to their Kindle Fire HD.
The first thing you need to do is install a file manager app. I personally use File Expert, but you can use whatever works for you. Next you need to get the app file. You can find it by searching on Google: (app name) apk. Once you have those, navigate to the Downloads folder with the file manager, and tap the .apk file. Click Install, and you're set! You can find the app in apps>device, it will not be in Cloud.
Note: I have tested this with many apps and almost all of them worked perfectly. It does NOT work with apps that you have to use google account. They will not work.
Doolster
Ok you actually can use some google apps like Youtube and Chrome if you install the Google Framework, and reboot. www.mediafire.com/?zaumfwhraxcifqf

tried this with my new KFHD7_32, and YouTube works if you search for videos; doesn't seem to bring up your account though. Did not try Chrome, but did get Google Earth working; Google Sky Map did not work.
The only app I haven't been able to sideload is Yelp. :/
Use bar Shortcut app it works best

[Q] Google Currents, Parallel Kingdom, etc for Kindle Fire HD

I have two different kindles, the original kindle I have rooted just fine and made the changes needed to install google currents. (adding the maps framework and such.) Being able to run currents is the same step needed to be able to play Parallel Kingdom because it is based off of Google Maps and uses the framework.
I now have the kindle fire 7 HD and it is also rooted...however I cannot get Google Currents or Parallel Kingdom to work properly. I got enough so that they are installed...but if I open Currents, it just doesnt open...if I open PK, it opens and connects to the server and then force closes (pop up saying "pk aot has stopped"
So I followed the same logic after root for the HD by adding in the google framework, installing services, copy/paste of the .jar and .xml files and changing the chmod settings to r/w, r, r. I dont know what is causing currents or PK not to work. any help would be appreciated. Thanks

jeradkays,
This is usually caused by a defective or damaged apk. Have you attempted to just perform an install
of these two packages rather than move them to /system/app. We have found this will clear up
sudden Stop errors on applications.

I just caught something. What XML and JAR did you load? I do know there are several known issues with
Parallel Kingdom and the Kindle Fire HD. Parallel Kingdom was designed for Jelly Bean, the Kindle Fire HD is
Ice Cram Sandwich. This is probably your problem, Google Currents is a simple install using Google Play.

As for Google Currents, use the latest version of Currents. Current version is 2.1 and Version 1.5 onwards never required root or maps framework. I've used it on original Kindle Fire and the 7"HD.

There is a working fix for the kindle fire...but i have been unable to get it to work on the kindle fire hd as of yet...the original kindle fire fix has been out there for a while now. It is the HD version that does not want to cooperate.
PK don't install in a stock rom. Definitively it is an Amazon protection against all GPS apps. Not all is lost, as the custom Kinology rom lets you install that apps! (search how to install it on XDA).
But Paralell Kingdom needs "location"(GPS) and the wifi location of the Kindle is weak.... Then you think: "How about a GPS dongle or tethering from a phone?"(There are threads on XDA)
The next step is to set "Allow mock locations" in developer settings. Pair your dongle or phone by bluetooth and use "Bluetooth GPS Provider"(Michael Chourdakis).
But then you think: "now I have GPS location, but need Internet to make PK work". Then, if you have a data rate in your phone you can provide web data to the Kindle by turning your phone into a Wifi modem. Your battery will suffer your enjoyment...

So to sum it up to make sure I am understanding you correctly:
You can load and play a game like Parallel Kingdom on the Kindle Fire HD but it would require that you install a custom (Kinology) rom and pair your kindle with your phone or GPS dongle?
The wifi thing is fine because I can just run off of my wifi at home.
I guess it comes down to how much work do I want to do to play PK on my kindle...but it is pretty extensive work for a game...thank you for your help though. I wish Amazon would just relax and let android do its thing on the device...
You can pair a dongle or a Phone(there are few apps that convert it on to a Gps dongle) on a stock rom. Then you can receive location data from them if your Kindle is rooted and you set "allow mock locations" with the KFHD xsetings app:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124384. (Remember: "Bluetooth GPS Provider"(Michael Chourdakis) to receive data)
Is Paralell Kingdom what you can't install if you are in a stock rom. On the other side many more GPS apps work, for example: Tomtom, Trekbuddy, Oruxmaps, Alpinequest... When you begin to receive location data you have done the worst of the work. Try to sideload the apps you want to test....
I'm lost on how to get PK
Hello, I am currently having the same problem as the guy who opened this thread but unlike him, I do not understand the solutions being offered here. I have the Kindle Fire HD 7" and have gotten it rooted. I am trying to figure out how I can get PK on there because like the OP, it also telles me PK AOA has closed immediately everytime I try to open it. I DO NOT have a smartphone and can only use Wi-Fi with my Kindle so that being said, what are my options toward getting PK to actually run on it? I don't understand this "Dongle" option and when I look up anything about Dongle it shows me a usb stick that would plug in and I don't have one of those nor does the kindle have a usb slot for one.
What programs will I need, what order does it need to be installed and what would be your order of process? I really appreciate that you guys have such a knowledge and understanding of why certain apps don't run because it makes no sense to me :/
I forgot to quote gflorezarroyo's post but I will at the end here, it has a lot of information of what to do but I don't want to brick my kindle, is there perhaps a little more described guide of how to go through it? Thanks again guys
gflorezarroyo said "PK don't install in a stock rom.
Your battery will suffer your enjoyment..."

I found a link here that is supposed to be the easy version for adding WiFi GPS but it seems to be buggy when it comes to our newer version Kindle's as well (11.3.1.0) so Idk if it will be of any help. Also they seem to only give you the option of using your phone and tethering it for GPS or using a Dongle which I still don't understand >.< I really wish I had never gotten this Amazon product, it's been a huge headache and a heap of troubles just to get it to function like ANY OTHER NORMAL tablet, their App market is freakin atrocious as well.

Add Google Account and Apps

After some tinkering, finally I was able to add Google account on Kindle Fire HDX and have Gmail working. Chrome also works with Sign-in but not YouTube. Google+ doesn't seem to work at all. I tried various version of Google+ with no luck. Instructions are in the link below.

I thought Google+ was being phased out for Hangouts?
It's too bad YouTube has yet to work on this tablet. I love it, but I can live without it on the HDX. I have other devices that do have YouTube.

To be correct, YouTube does work on the Kindle HDX and even Chromecasting. It just won't let me add my account to it.
Oh good! I don't care about adding my account, as long as I can search and watch!

Any ideas on getting Hangouts going? I tried installing, but everytime I open it it wants to update play services to a newer version.

Apps that require Play Services are not working. I have not gotten Google+ to work and not surprisingly Play Store doesn't work either. I did get Google Search and Google Now to work though.

That makes sense, thanks. Voice works as well, I loaded it after following your directions for gmail and it came right up.
I ever met the same problem, but it became normal without doing nothing.
Remove account
Anyone have an idea of how to delete an account once added? I tried the app "quick settings" but it crashes on the HDX. I ended up using an uninstall app to remove Google Account manager and when reinstalled they were gone, but was wondering if anyone had found a way to access the account manager itself?
