[Q]Should I return my nexus 7 - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all I've had my nexus 7 about two weeks from Tesco , I've only really got round to hammering it the last week due to being on holiday from work and I love it. Unfortunately the last two days I've noticed problems with it its a c70 , first problem slight screen raise lower left corner but more drastically over the last day its gone from one dead pixel to about 20 spread throughout the screen should I return it or is this the normal.

Return it. Why would you consider keeping a defective unit?

Don't want to return it and find that there all use just a poor screen and have same problem. Is there good and bad screens out there ?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

Theres always good and bad screens. But 20 dead pixels is a good sign you got the latter.

You should return it to get new one

Ok so think I need to readjust my first post of 20 dead pixels some were dust noticed them in bed so anger made me think there was more lol. I would say after screen has been polished there's about 5 to 6 only notice them on blacks . One is big so maybe more than one together. I don't want them to get worse but probarly as you noticed from my question I hate returning goods lol.

Asus will replace the whole unit for just one bright pixel. Or at least that's their policy on all their monitors and laptops

Some are defective. Make sure you buy from a store that has a good return policy or if any at all.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I'd say buy it even with the screen lift issues (and hope for the best). Even with the screen lift, it's the best $250 tablet you can buy. It's very nice. And if you don't read this forum everyday and get constantly reminded of the screen lift issue, you'll probably forget about it or not notice it anymore. It's annoying that it isn't perfect, but it's not that bad either.

Best table to go with N4

I currently use an iPad 2 alongside my N4, but it is getting a little slow, and i feel the need for something new. I really like the look of the nexus 10, my only concern being tablet optimised apps. This would also work well with the Google products I use, and have all the feaures i love about and roid and my N4. I am also considering the iPad Mini, nexus 7 and iPad 4.
Any thoughts on these issues would be appreciated, as well as any other N4 + tablet discussion
Thanks,
(PS, i'm kinda new, would this be more appropriate in the N10 or a generic tablet topic?)
i use my coffee table

I tought your just using the ipad as a table for you n4 lol

Definitely a wooden table of some kind. You don't want to set it down on a metal or glass table. That glass back on the N4 will shatter.
In all seriousness though, my N4 and N10 complement each other well since the UI is almost completely consistent, plus transferring photos between them is a snap with NFC.

Just because you are a Whovian, I will not make fun of your table typo
But telling us what you use your tablet for on a typical basis would help us give you better suggestions.
Haha thanks for your sympathy.
I use my iPad for social networking, news and media consumption, light gaming and photo transfer with light editing. I rarely use the cameras, even for video calls. My favourite apps are flipboard and YouTube.

I know its a very tiny crack but it was a soft fall.
Damn, that sucks. Does the camera still work well or does the crack show through the lens? I'd better get a case for this...
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
That sucks bro. Dropped on to a soft surface or just a low impact fall? Any housing deformity or just the crack?
I lightly bumped my old TF101 into the edge of a table with minimal force back in the day and warped the housing in just the right place so as to lock the volume rocker into constantly depressing down.
These things seem so fragile. It's always a good idea to understand just how fragile through anecdotes. Thanks for sharing.

I'm so glad I got accidental protection. I've dropped this once already on tile floor and was scared to death it cracked. Thank full not a scratch was made.

I only understood "HTC One", though and not a single word before or after.
There are lots of English words in there. Smartphone, display, signal, camera, stereo.. and so on. Totally worth watching if you are considering getting the One .

[Q] Is my screen ok?

Hi all,
Today morning i left my SGS4 at table and when i was getting up, i was holding this kind of battery http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/99/02_-_Single_Energizer_Battery.jpg and suddenly fell (for about 70 Centimetre high) at phone screen.
Screen hasn't got any scratch or something, works good, but i just wanted to ask if this can cause any problem in the future? It's my first time facing this kind of drop trip so i just wanted to ask and feel more comfortable.
I use this to http://img.game.co.uk/images/gameware/pspscreenprotectorandcloth.gif don't know if it helps in this situation haha.
Thanks.
Energizer AA batteries are a known menace to the Galaxy S4 screen.
Breakage could occur at any time, it could be months it could be hours. Once the AA battery has had it's way there's no going back.
The only known cure is the saliva of an epileptic koala, this must be applied twice daily to the effected area.
Good luck mate!
