[HOWTO] Use your Epic as Mouse/Keyboard for other Android devices - Epic 4G General

So, as far as I know, this should be able to control PC's too, and maybe PS3's. But, I've only tried this on other Android devices. Should control anything on CM7.X, or anything on any form of Android 3.0, 4.0, and 4.1.
Prerequisites(Epic 4G specific):
Has to be on an AOSP based ROM(CM, AOKP, Paranoid, etc)
Step 1.) Enable Bluetooth on your Epic 4G and other Android device.
Step 2.) Pair the devices together
Step 3.) Now, install "BluePutDroid" on your Epic from the Play Store.
Step 4.) Open BluePutDroid, hit the Start key on the top left
Step 5.) Swipe up the "Log" bar to make sure there were no errors. If there were, try step 4 again.
Step 6.) Tap the device you want to connect to(your other Android device)
Step 7.) When it finishes loading, the screen should be green. Swipe on this to move the mouse on the other android device. Tap once to click on the other device, and hold down till the screen turns red to do things like scrolling, drag and drop, etc.
If the S/W keyboard shows up, hit menu "Toggle Soft Keyboard" to hide it. If it keeps enabling itself, install "Null Keyboard" from the Play Store and set that as your input method while using BluePutDroid. Also, the H/W keyboard works great. So you can use that to type, or navigate with the Dpad
This app works on other devices as well, but I can't go into great detail on ROM compatibility and such.
If your device has CM7/9/10 or any AOSP based ROM, this will work.
This will work on the (rooted) stock ROM of some devices, such as Nexus S(all forms), Galaxy Nexus(all forms), and Galaxy S3 (all forms)
On other's it will not work on the stock ROM, regardless of root, such as Galaxy S(entire first series), and many older HTC devices(not sure of newer ones).
According to the app developer, this is kernel related and nothing he can do; if it works, it works. if it doesn't, get.cm

Thanks! I'll look into this.

I can confirm that this works with windows and linux - I've been using this app for nearly a year, and it works well
But I didn't know it worked with other CM devices - that's an awesome find

Would this work if the other device doesn't have bluetooth?
Amazing stuff though, I wish my netbook had bluetooth that would have made it even more amazing lol.

There's apps for PCs similar to this. Like RemoteDroid and gPad. I'd prefer gPad because it has many other uses, like controlling windows media player, microsoft powerpoint, and using it as a mouse/keyboard obviously. But again, it's over WiFi. Bluetooth is beta AFAIK.

This app has been around for at least a year - the benefit of bluetooth is faster response times than over wifi. I think that's partly the result of the direct connection, and partly because the wifi methods involve a computer-side server (often using vnc, which uses some processing time to send a live stream of the screen, even if the connected client app doesn't need it, such as with a remote kb/mouse app)

I can also vouch for this on the ps3. Donate, help him out and no ads.
My wife was giving me **** "you are so techy, why can't you ruin the ps3 with your phone". So i googled and XDAed until i found this app.

I love to log on while the wife is using the computer. Move the mouse as shes trying. Priceless. I use advance touchpad. Its via wifi but very responsive, and it gives me all the keys. I have to be able to windows key + p to switch to my TV.

Have you looked at droid vnc (don't know if there is something else similar). I thought I saw another app that would also work, but haven't tried anything yet.
I did. I couldn't get DroidVNC to run on the tablet without crashing.

Ugh, sorry, I was planning to try it out myself but hadn't had a chance yet. There is another thread on androidforums about this also with some possible usable apps:
http://androidforums.com/android-applications/8858-remote-control-my-phone.html
You dan do it wit WiFiKeyboard that is in the market
Just tried that wifikeyboard and seems to work well for me. hopefully it is what the OP was looking for too
I use it to get cheats in gta 3 ;p
There is this... haven't tried it.. http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...blet-android-phone-your-pc-other-android.html
And other than that I have a Microsoft keyboard that has a little 2.4 ghz dongle and it works great. Mouse works too. If you really want the keyboard-tablet experience. Lags in not-native roms.. perfect in gmail, talk and a few others.. My two cents.
And of course there's always the transformer..

ok...I'm officially bored. What tricks can I teach my N7?

So far I basically use this thing as a web browser, twitter reader and forum crawler.
Of course I rooted, themed, installed new kernels, bricked it, brought it back to life, and now I'm back to stock rooted.
So what else can this thing do? I bought a USB dongle thinger but I don't like watching movies on the small screen (I get headaches easy). Give me some ideas?

Have you tried alternate ROMs? If not, I'd recommend Paranoid Android. It's smooth, fast, stable, and it allows you to choose between phone, phablet, and tablet mode for every app.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800268
If PA isn't your style, try Slimbean or Cyanogenmod 10.
There are a lot of ROMs out there to mess around with.

How about getting tablet mode by installing ROM Toolbox Lite and changing the DPI from 213dpi to 160dpi?
It's under Performance/build.prop.tweaks
You'll need to be rooted though.

Games, news, geocaching (tether it to your phone via bluetooth), use it as a GPS on your bike/car if you have one (I use my phone for now, and you can cache the maps before hand too, so no data connection needed), control your DSLR camera if you have one, setup an andruino system/project and use the N7 as a remote, use it as universal remote in your home (friend is doing that w his Galaxy Tab 2 7"), etc.
Imagination is the limit.

There are free apps in the market, but if you are suggesting getting the paid app for free you'd be better to look elsewhere. Pirating of apps is highly frowned upon on XDA.
Looking for one tht does any tv. Ones in market say smart tv. Not looking for a pirated app. But dnt see how samsung can advertise for the gs4 having a tv app when it doesnt

It does it is called watch on if you are on a aosp rom like cm 10.1, aokp, or slim bean you cannot use it as a remote. If you are on stock just open the watch on app and follow the instructions in the app.

Don't think you can. Each device has a very limited, basic set of buttons. I tried adding the control pod for my logitech speakers, and it basically had on/off, and volume. Despite the fact that while selecting the device code, it provided me a list of input sources to choose from and was able to correctly switch between them, it then did not provide this input switching on the virtual remote itself.
For the half hour or so that I played around with WatchOn, my impression of it was: it's a very clunky, poorly designed, poorly executed app. The result of guessing what level of functionality the users want, rather than actually researching how users would expect to be able to use the app.
Well it has everything I want but I just need that dvr button because thats the main button I use

After they shut down the servers for setting them up, I quit using it. If you use cm 10. 2 with amp support and cheap cast its almost like it still works, but i haven't taken the time to put it on yet. There are guides. Don't trash it though. There are still people that will have uses for them as a desktop computer.
I haven't used mine in 6 months either but I am gonna dust it off and try to load 10.2 on it next week now that the hdmi and spidf are working. Does anyone know what keyboard and mouse combos work? I thought it was a Microsoft wireless 800 combo that I was using last time with wireless adb since there's only one USB.

I just installed cm 10.1 using the method posted by user ianandamy. Works great and my input methods are a Microsoft wireless mouse with with an OTG cable connected to the Q, and I have a wireless Bluetooth keyboard. The only things I would like to see fixed are the primal LED lighting function, and a way of powering off the Q other than unplugging it.

Battlelog for BF4 with Battleview ?

I downloaded Battlelog ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ea.bf3bl.inc) last night along with the launch of BF4. Apparently, while you are playing, you are supposed to be able to use your phone or tablet to view the battle map. On my 10.1 tablet, I was able to get this feature to work, but not on my Note 3. Since the resolution of my Note 3 is better than the 10.1 tablet, shouldn't I be able to put my phone into some kind of tablet mode?
So my most immediate question is, does anyone know how to make this program recognize my Note 3 as a tablet instead of a phone? And, by the way, I'm not rooted.

You need to be actively playing or just launching a game. Notice at the bottom of your browser, you have a blue bar appear. In that bar, at the bottom towards the right on my system, you should see "Battlescreen" as one of 3 buttons. If you have a dual monitor set up, you can use your second monitor as the Battlescreen window in your browser. Its the same procedure on the tablet.
