Phone getting power off with low battery dialog - Galaxy 3 General

Hi all, I am facing a strange problem, my phone is switching off automatically indicating low battery. However when I plug in charger battery indicator gives battery more than 50% sometimes close to 75%. I've tried a lot of ROM's mostly based on great work by Marcellusbe CM7.2 Alpha 8.3. Following are the list of ROM's I've tried and faced the same issue
GB:
AOSP GINGERBREAD STYLE ROM
CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC3
Kyrillos' ROM 10.5
Currently Using : Pranjal's ROM
KISADWORX ROM v7.2.1
ICS:
ICS AOSP/CM9 (Alpha)
AOKP/CM9
All ROM's are fast and good, fits my requirement. But this battery off issue is there in all for me.
But battery indicator while charging in power off mode is always always showing battery level higher than 50%.
Help me out here. I need battery backup that can at least work for 1 full day.
Help me. Something is definitely wrong.
P.S. Also tried this with new battery. So no battery issue.

Thanks for the help. Not exactly what I am looking for. Everything isn't always simple as it looks to.
I am posting this after trying all possibilities in past 2-3 weeks.

Same happening with me also. Specially when I am taking pictures or videos.. taking into account the battery is quite old .. but calling time is still moderate.. but gallery/camera are consuming enormous charge,,

I've also had this issue for quite some time with different ROMs. Right now I'm using Kyrillos 9.6 OC for daily use and I don't have that battery indicator jumps anymore. Maybe you can try that ROM to check if it's a software or hardware problem.

Custom ROM with the best battery life :)

Hey guys,
I have played around with a few different roms for my SGS2 and was wondering which one has the best battery life in your experience?
Cheers
I honestly think stock ke7.

That's an almost impossible question to answer as there are so many different factors involved which can affect battery life both on a custom rom and a stock one for example.
signal strength
push
gaming
screen brightness
Everyone will have a different experience and your best bet is to try different rom's and choose the one which suits you as a rom which is great for them may not be great for you.
If some rom creator would make make a black-red theme for his mod it would be probatly the best mod... Of course with all other goodies and tweaks.
Black-red theme because it would drain the lowest energy from the battary in the standart screen mode, but since we all use mostly different apps with different colors it will vary anyway.
To be fair, although it is purely anecdotal, people who have tried different ROMS while going through the sameness of their daily lives should be able to make a relatively valid comparison of battery life.
All the custom ROMs out at the moment are extremely close to stock, so I doubt there's much difference.

It appears the battery indicator is often way off. I let mine drain as much as it could til it would not boot at all, then charge it for 6 hours. Now it seems to last twice as long on stock (2 days with a lot of use)

I'm going to try this right now. I'll just let it stream some music over wifi at a high bitrate to drain it quickly. And using GPS, Blue-tooth. Playing music through PowerAmp at the same time.

That would be funny if a lot of the battery problems are actually because we keep thinking it is flat when it isn't - it is just being mis-reported. Kind of iphone batterygate in reverse.
I had a lock up on my device the other night but didn't realise until the following morning when I found the device unresponsive and stuck on my last screen. Although I had to pull the battery to regain control, the screen had stayed on all night because of the freeze and the battery meter graph was red for about 7 hours. The screen was still on and bright before I pulled the battery though.
Think I will also try ignoring the meter today.

I have this issue on Darky 10.1 (2.6 kernel), 2.3.3
Battery lasts around 10 hours with light to medium usage (its a new original Samsung battery as well).
Does anyone have any quick advice to fix this? Bit under time pressure due to job at the moment and don't have much time to research this. Any advice to fix this easily and quickly?
I had this problem after switching on the “Vorabruf über Mobilnetz“ in the Cache-Settings of Google Maps. Maps was closed, but battery was fast going down. Using XWJVH.

I too have almost the same problem with Darky Rom 10.1 - but I've heard that it has been fixed in the new beta version. I'm gonna flash it at the end of the week and after a few days of observing, I'm gonna tell you the results.

It's been through quite a few cycles.
I think I figured it out.....I think it was Skype. If you sign in the app is always on...it doesn't have an exit feature. There is, however, an app to close it. I used it and got normal battery life today!
We'll see if it keeps working like it should.
So I've upgraded to 2.3.4, (Ficeto.Deodexed.XXJVP) and Android OS battery drain stopped. Now it shows 70% battery usage on display (before it was 70% android OS). I recommend updating your system too
with darky on medium use never had more than 14 hrs )
I've given up for the moment and gone back to Darkys 9.5
Now at least I can get through one whole day and have about 40% left

Are you willing to flash the rom again? or you can try to use the speedmod 15g t11 for the kernel to replace the JVP kernel.
it's said that when you use the USB connection to your PC, you need to reboot it. So this battery drainage will not happen.
In the ROm 2.3.3 JV5 and JV6 for Asia, I do the same to keep the batter alive.
Try backing up everything and then factory reset phone. Generally this happens because of a few unwanted applications excessively using ur processor, in turn draining battery or there may be a malware that stealthily connects itself to the net. This will almost certainly cure the disease. If it doesn't, then there is a serious defect in ur hardware or some of ur system app required for properfunctioning of the phone is corrupted, causing excess pressure on the processor
It is a big problem to everyone, I charge twice per day for this.
Calibrate your battery
Let the battery go down to 0% and turn off
Then turn the phone on, it'll turn itself off again cause battery is low
Keep doing this until its totally 0%
Plug in the charger, charge it to 100%
Turn the phone on
Download SGS Tools from the android market place
Run the app
Go to "scripts"
click delete battery stats
Unplug charger & you're done
battery should be more stable now
go to settings
applications
running services
check what you have in the background
close them down if they're unecessary
I get through the workday with only 10% loss
If you have an really old SIM card, try and replace it with a brand new one. This may also help. I had bad battery run time with two LG Optimus 2x phones (about 10 hours) and not so stellar 20 hours with the i9000. Finally I stumbled over some advise to replace old SIM cards. Since mine was over 12 years old, I ordered a new one. It is not gonna change the world, I know, but it was worth a try .

That sounds very odd. Is the phone actually dying that quickly, or is it reporting your charge incorrectly?
Either way, to help us figure out what is going on...
What Rom are you on exactly?
What kernel?
OC?
UV?
Governor?
High and low frequencies?
My immediate thoughts however are that your battery may have gone bad though.

I agree with the statement about your battery being dead, (Maybe) but you should try a different ROM as well, especially since I recall having battery drain issues as well with ICS Passion. Not to mention that its outdated and ICS still has the EU bug which no one knows how to fix 100%. (EU bug is dangerous, just search it up.) GPS also doesn't function that well. If I were you, I would try one of the CM10 ROMS for now or any of the JB ROMS, at least until Android 4.2 is officially released by CM. I am on CM10.1 Hellybean by Derteufel; amazing work as usual and GPS locks in under 10 secs. Battery life is really good too. This is the first time my GPS on this phone worked without applying any fixes. (Well, actually, all CM10.1 ROMs that I've tried have a fully working GPS) Really, I think you should try these new ROMS. They are really nice. Sorry, I got a bit off topic and started rambling, but yeah, try one of these ROMs. If you still have major drain issues, then its time to change your battery. I'm already guessing its a battery problem though.
EDIT: OOPS MY BAD. I didnt read everything completely. Yeah, its most likely either a bad battery or its reporting the stats wrong.
Yeah sammo, its time to change ROMs. My recommendation is ParanoidAndroid 2.54-360, with the latest semaphore kernel. Check these battery stats
what ROM U think i should have in my t959 . i dont need gps i just want the battery go longer . and please if U don t mind . put the link of a thread of the rom .THANK U guys u re awsome .

Maybe your battery is close to the end of it's life cycle.

Don't guess, just flash another ROM and you'll be sure.
Try out Kingsoft's Miui with Semaphore 2.50, a beautiful experience (use the tricks in the thread for best results).
Thank u guys. Il really helped me. im gonna try the 4.1.2 parandroid
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
Personally, I get better battery on slim bean than on paranoid android or MIUI. Combined with the semaphore kernel, I get 20 hours usually.
If it's a battery issue, I'd still get a replacement, the ROM/kernel you use only affects battery life marginally.
I'd switch to one of the recommended roms and download the battery calibration app from the Play Store..
If its a battery on the fritz then it'll still need to be replaced. It may help with incorrect stats reporting though. Good luck!

To callibrate battery..first completely drain the battery to about 5%, then charge the phone non stop without disturbing it till 100% and immediately remove the charger..again fully drain the battery and follow the above steps and u will get better battery life after a few cycles!
About roms..battery life does differ from rom to rom...i suggest u could check the custom kernels packed with zzmoove governor, ithat particular governor definitely improves the battery backup!
And in the above post es file explorer is eating ur battery..for that u should download greenify and hibernate apps continuously running in background!
great. I will follow your steps. one more thing. how can I know if the battery is still good or if its still holding the proper charge its suppose to have? thanks

best I can get is about 3 days standby in jb stock.
I use the 2000mAh battery is primary battery.. no big surprise to expect here, capacity is just 21% more by construction...
With wifi on, JB burns in my case about 3% in IDLE.. stock kernel.. and about 5% in 3G mode, IDLE.. then battery drains more or less fast depending on screen on, phone calls etc. I use the phone extensively for work (email sync & replies, phone calls, sms and voip) and i have to topup the battery twice or trice a day!
Have tried various custom kernels with all sort of magic to reduce battery drain.. more or less effectively.. sometimes with less stability.
Right now trying out latest dorimanx 8.27.. seems thatn IDLE with WIFI on drains around 2% per hour.. better than stock.. still not quite awesome
I miss the GB battery life.. but JB is so beautiful in comparison, I cannot go back!

Does Jb stock for you has better life or does custom rom have more? I really like the custom roms but as per observation stock rom offers more battery time. Right now I just reverted to stock rom i9100xwlss. Touchwiz really sucks. Supernexus is really beautiful but offers less battery (but I will have to try yet their latest build). Also one of the reasons for going back to stock is the camera shot quality. Custom roms really have poor camera quality. I guess when it comes to lowlight shots the stock roms are best. So much for that. Does stock rom offer more battry for you or custom rom does?

Below is a reply in some other forum by Samsung offcials regarding a specific method to Hard-Reboot your phone after a Firmware update: This method particularly helped me improve the battery life on SGS2 after 4.1.2 update.
"1. I’m sorry you are having issues with your device after upgrading the firmware. I can understand your frustration about this.
Old systems settings can be left on the phone after an update occurs, which is why we usually recommend a full factory reset after updating. If this isn’t done your device may begin to give false readings from system resources, or experience technical problems, which may explain the issue you are having.
We would advise on doing the following, which is designed to reset the settings on your device. Please back up your device using Samsung KIES before you do this.
1) Remove the battery for at least 40 minutes, put the battery back in and allow it to fully discharge. Afterwards, perform a full battery charge with the device turned off. Do not interrupt the charging process.
2) After the battery is fully charged, we would like you to perform a full factory reset, which can be done via Settings > Backup > Reset.
This process will reset your device, remove old system files that are no longer needed and enable your device to operate normally again.
Please let us know if your device continues to experience problems after the reset so we can investigate further.
If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help.
Kind regards,
Stewart

Actually I only use stock JB.. and trying to get it last longer with some custom kernels.. recently trying snapdragon rom, which is stock JB as well but with some S4 apk made compatible with S2... tried some time back omega, vanila rootbox and some other android builds for s2.. but was facing few stability issues / bugs and also missed some features that i was getting from stock rom.. so i gave up with these... now just aiming at stability and if possible battery endurance.. but not at the cost of stability.

[HELP]S3 Neo screen flickers then turn off! Hey

Hey guys,
I have an S3 Neo since 8 months, it was all good, but now i started to face a problem, a big one.
Whenever i charge my phone and i use it, for all.the day the battery is good, but when the percentage reaches around (38%-43%) the phone's screen starts doing some strange waves (flickering) then it turns off, and it won't boot up unless i plug it to the charger and it indicates that the battery is 0% (fully discharged). I tried to replace battery 2 times, but it's always the same, i tried that "Quick Start" Battery gauge chip reset. But no result.
So.... anyone knows what I'm really facing?
Hi i had the same problem... U must buy new battery your battery is dead.
I did bought two batteries, problem persists !
An example of what I'm facing
This is an example, now I'm trying to calibrate the phone by only charging to 50%
My screen also flickers, but only when it's below 10 percent. Maybe it's a kernel issue. Is see you have a custom rom, have you tried switching kernels?

Now i found that it won't happen if i don't charge my phone more than 60%. And battery is holding more (2h30min sot with 45%) so I'm gonna grab a kmesg and attach here.
Yeah I had that problem to when I was in motion rom but it was fixed when I restored it to stock can any one tell's us why????

Its a bug in motion rom. Try changing lockscreen effects to none. That ll help u in terms of flickering

Hey guys,
I have an S3 Neo since 8 months, it was all good, but now i started to face a problem, a big one.

I had the same problem 6 months ago! I decided to buy an original S3 battery (the difference is that it's made in Korea, NOT in China) and now I always have 4h+ screen on time with the stock rom and s3ven kernel!
