Problem with Sky email and Google services - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use my sky.com email address to setup my Android devices and for Google online services.
My problem is that Google Play, Music and Wallet are not synced between my phone and when I access online using my desktop.
Anyone out there that uses a sky email address and has a working sync with online services? Anyone with the same problem as me?

Google services only with with associated Gmail accounts.

Sky email uses the Google system, so my Sky credentials work for email and calendar; but not wallet, music and Play store.

ah
Hi Stu,
I am having the same problem. I have spoken with google and they have confirmed that Sky have to activated a number of google services on my account e.g. google books. I am in the process of sending emails back and forward with Sky in the attempt for them to solve the issue. Google gave me the instruction they need to follow, but Sky have yet to accept it is their issue!
I'll post back here if i get it sorted.
CB.
Sorry after re-reading your issue, it may be different to my problem.

CB, what's your current situation now that the sky.com accounts have completely dropped off from Google services?
I'm currently discussing with Google to cover me for re-purchasing all my paid apps using a newly created gmail account.

google apps account syncing

Guys
I should be picking up a G2 on monday .
As a googlew phone I would expect it to sync with my gmail account but just to make sure.
Will it sync properly with google hosted domains?
Jay
Syns just fine with google hosted domains. Mine worked right out of the box.

Technically, the G2 isn't a "Google Phone" in the same way the G1 is. Whilst both run Android, the G1 uses a Google build of the OS and is branded on the back with Google, whereas the G2 uses an HTC build of the OS, with several differences to Google builds.
However, both work fine with Google Apps for Domains accounts. You just need to log in with your full email address ([email protected]).
The only thing that doesn't work with these accounts is the checkout on the market, which tells you that Apps for Domains accounts are not support, but then allows you to link your payment to a regular Gmail account for purchasing purposes.
Regards,
Dave

Very weird bug in Samsung Note II

It seems one cannot be able to attach files as attachment in web browser like chrome or default android browser unless user configures their g mail application in Note II. I had this problem, now it got rectified. Very weird bug

Do you mind explaining which is that configuration in the Gmail?.
Gmail is always being tweaked
Nothing to explain much. It is simple. Actually i do not have Google account to configure in gmail. But i have my yahoo account that is tied up with Google so that i can use for Play store. But i cant use that yahoo account for gmail. The service centre representative asked me to create a gmail account and configure the same in Gmail application. Then my issue gets resolved.

Simple, configure your actual gmail in your Gmail application, then everything will be fine.

[Q] DeleteGoogle account

I'm not using Gmail anymore, and I'm wondering what happens if I just delete my Google account in Settings/Account. Would I still be able to use the Playstore, for example, so I could just download the Google apps I want?
Welcome
This has been my experience - without a google account, none of the apps that require Google Play Services will function correctly or may fail to sync. Play store, play music, hangouts, keep, gmail, calendar, contacts, wallet, drive etc. The phone should function fine otherwise. Some people prefer to use their phone without a google account and are willing to give up the convenience of their services.

i have been thinking about this too, with kitkat it was easy to disable location service which helps with battery life, and now it seems like google is accessing my info more often, . the only google service i use it its maps, contacts and calendar but from that thread above you there is a homebrew alternative.
just use k9mail for gmails.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose? Are there any good alternatives for email service? Not a fan of Yahoo, Live/Hotmail, AOL, what else is there?

Google Apps accounts and Google Assistant

Note that currently Google Apps / GSuite / Google for work accounts cannot use Google Assistant.
This is same issue as using those accounts with Google Assistant in Allo as well as creating Play Music family plans.
I don't know if that will be changed when/after the pixel is released, but for now if you have one of these accounts you can't even use the neatest new feature on the phone...

How so? I have a gapps account, and have had no issues using google assistant in allo.
That's funny... No one else can. There are massive threads on Google's forums about it, and it was confirmed by the product teams...

I see. Actually they can run assistant, but it has no access to personal information. I.e. "what's on my agenda today" will fail.
That's a shame. I may have to set up a regular Google account for everything that isn't email related just to get this to work properly.
Thank you for clarifying. Yes, I mean (but didn't say) that Google Assistant can't access email, calendar, etc on GSuite accounts. It still works fine for Google searches.
I should have been more clear in my wording!!
I have a regular Gmail account, too. Hadnto do that to setup a family play music account (annoying)... I'll wait and see if it is worth forwarding my email to there it not.

Google Play store & Google Accounts

I have 2 Google Accounts on my phone and about a month ago 4 beta apps suddenly started showing up in the playstore as being associated with the other account which is on another phone Even though that account never signed up for beta tester.
I have sent Google all screenshots and they keep telling me that its a Samsung problem. Which its not.
Its related to Google's Playstore which is propriety software belonging to Google and two Google Accounts which are stored on Google's Servers.
Has anyone else noticed this problem?
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling through playstore website on a computer but it does not solve the problem.
