Sony mobile website has been hacked ... - Xperia Play General

Sony mobile has been hacked ... with the following statements :
“Sony, we are dearly disappointed in your security. This is just one of eight Sony servers that we have control of. Maybe, just maybe considering IP addresses are available. Maybe, just maybe it’s the fact that not even your customers can trust you. Or maybe, just maybe the fact that you cannot do anything correct technologically.”
does Sony deserve that ?
what do you think ?

It seems to me that they brought it on themselves. Afterall, they threw the first punch when they started suing anyone who found an exploit in their software. Lesson to learn here? don't start fights with people bigger and in this case, smarter than you.

Well, now h4x0rzz put their legs on table and say: "TROLOLOLO"

These hackers piss me off publishing our PRIVATE data, so what, just deface their site, don't share personal information, Think Sony would get the message then, they don't care about customers.

Well, i dont have any Sony acc, so im fine

Understand something, they do not share customer data. Never have and NEVER will. If you truly do think they do then you don't understand hacktivism and how it actually works. They are not after the customers, they are after ANY big company that feels they are untouchable.

I was impressed with political extension of the word hack myself.

I think the hackers should blackmail them for the old algorithm on how to unlock R800x's

That's just good business.. any business would do it.. I'm fairly confident in saying that they're not building phones just for the fun of it!!...
If Apple do this with another thing...
Oh!Wait!
Jobs always do something like this !

English forum.. so err.. yeah post in english so we can all read your post!
its not necessarily a marketing ploy to get more money, if anyone here has done any research or read about it they would know the x10 HD is the exact same phone as the x10 (hardware n all) it just has 2.1 (which supports hd video recording).
and obviously since the 2.1 update is supposed to come out next week they will be advertising it like crazy since its something people have been waiting for.

Exactly. I don't get what the big deal. It's just a rebranding, just like how the HTC Magic was renamed the Magic+ here in Canada by Rogers when it got its Sense UI.

If the point of marketing isn't to generate more money for your company, then what is it?

Guys chill out! This should be considered great news for X10 owners, simply because if SE advertises the same X10 after the upgrade to 2.1 as a new phone. This means it will likely be upgraded to Froyo! Therefore, if it gets 2.2 you will also get 2.2 right ?
So actually this is good news, and it will be a pleasure if this device gets Froyo, because it rocks already! By the way if you don't mind me asking, where exactly did you capture this picture?
I also see it as a marketing strategy is simple you add something different to the existing product and ready .. thousands more sales.
but that comment you said you opened my eyes and you're right .. if Sonyericsson sell it as new phone is very possible that give new upgrade for the "new buyers"
Let's hope so! would be great news
sorry my bad english
Yes.. We can expect 2.2 at Q4 2024 from $€.
Good thought anyway.

keitht is right though. If you want to be taken seriously by Motorola or potential adult signatories then you need to clean up the grammar. Additionally, in my opinion, It would be more effective if you phrased it to seem less petulant.
Yea...sorry frustrated. The site wont let me update it though. Stuck with it now.
I don't know how that petition site works so not sure if you can edit your existing text, but it should only include the facts of the issue which are:
- microSD card support does not work 4 months after release
- no word on when 4G support will be available 4 months after release
As we wait, neither of the above features work as we watch other tablets release with fully functional microSD slots and 4G support.
My opinion (and is only my opinion) at this point, I have lost 1/2 the value of the tablet for the features that should have already been implemented. Maybe even more since the Xoom was already priced more than any tablet that released with these features working.

Put that in the comments of the petition that way when I print it out they see all that.
I just see all these concerns being wasted in this forum when they could be put there and printed out and mailed ya know.
So please don't waste those great thoughts in here anymore
A petition can't be changed once it's live, else people can sub X for Y and subvert the original premise.

I signed it although I think it should have been proofed better. But that does not take away the fact that we have been screwed with the microSD card and 4G issue four months later. Xoom 2 talk already? Are you kidding me? Xoom 1 was never finished.
I am liking the comments. More of that said and we got something.

Aww Someone is jealous of Xperia Play ,and he is so pissed at us, calling us suckers
Actually, I made the image. I hardly can be accused of being jealous of XPlay owners, but I feel that the phone has been brutally abandoned. I guess my sentiment isn't shared among the userbase...
No, it's not, and you look the fool.
With Gingerbread as standard on the phone I'd say SEMC is good for a while, the majority of other phones that are out now, including some just hitting the market don't even have that.
We're still waiting for Sony to come through with Playstation Suite, I'm guessing that will be a vital part of the appeal to Playstation Certified devices. In the meantime, it's a prime opportunity for developers of Android games to step up with the new coined "Xperia Play Optimized" label.
I'm not sure what more you want SEMC to do?
come on guys its just a stupid joke
we all have to be able to laugh at things in life
if they dont want a xperia play then thats fine who cares
its all dual core this dual core that
but at the moment dualcore is only good for one thing benchmarks!
there hasnt been a game that is designed only for a dualcore phone that
are phones cant play aswell
and lets be honest that why we all got a play, to play games
so who really cares if there apps fire up hundreds of a sec faster than ours
or when u browse the homes screens etc, theres is abit smoother?
we got our phones to play games and play them comfortably
and our phones do that better than theres.
THE END

Releasing a working PlayStation Suite on arrival, so that we can, you know, play games properly? Following a non-retarded bootloader policy? Updating our phones with interesting GAMING-RELATED content?
I agree with the Playstation Suite stance. They mention it every now and then but in no detail whatsoever.
But again, that's not SEMC, that's being developed by Sony (SCE). Different people.

No. I bought the phone for the emulators

Google can remotely do w/e they want to my Nexus 4?

Recently, I was overhearing a few geeks on the Metro. They were saying that Google can remotely disable your phone, one guy tried doing a chargeback(stupid scammer) and his phone wouldn't work. Is this true? Can Google really brick/make your Nexus 4 a non-usable phone?
In my opinion, that is too overpowering for Google, I mean if they can do that what else can they do that we don't know?
Technically they can, it's technology. They can push OTA updates, there is the google services functionality that allow users to remotely locate and wipe your device, so why not do more? I am using Cerberus app, it can do a ton more things, and have you read about CarrierIQ (they still put it in phones in some form or another, its just not covered by the media).
I think you should check with more reliable source before believing rumor from random nerds on the metro. Sounds like the device is labeled as stolen or some other infraction and the IMEI got blacklist, or he just did something dumb to break his phone. I haven't read Google pulling anything like this, if it was Apple abusing something like this I wouldn't be surprised though.

If you read recent news about the NSA programs then you'll know all bets are off. There are more harmful tech entities out there to worry about in this respect than Google, like Microsoft or Facebook.

I'm with you on the first one, I see no reason for Google to specifically disable one phone. That makes no sense.
Even Apple would not do that. Simply because they don't have the manpower to check everyone. And if they wanted to disable the device for someone they would only be able to block Google Services, unless they blacklist the IMEI.
And the idea that you should be more worried about Microsoft and Facebook is ridiculous. Google knows so much more about you. Everything most people do online + whatever you do with your portable devices is in their hands. Making them in my eyes, the single biggest harvester of personal information in the world. Is big too, but they only control their social network. Google could get Facebook data, but not the other way around.
Microsoft on the other hand, can spy on everything you do on your PC. But not your mobile device. That makes their data uniquely for games and office. And that last bit is not really exclusive because Google has Drive.

As far as I know, yes. They control the hardware, they control the software (if you're on stock, even then, the internals of roms don't differ much from stock). Whats stopping them?

Twitter Social Media Campaign to Free the Bootloader

I propose we take this time to put some pressure on Samsung Mobile and Samsung Mobile US to Free the Bootloader for the Note 7. As faith in Samsung's products are waning do to multiple products having safety issues and new and old are losing perceptive value it may be time to put the social media pressure on them to unlock the Bootloader. I have started tweeting Samsung Mobile US with the attached.

Ya, u might have more luck asking for the next device to have unlocked bootloader as they have written this one off. Still a long shot but better than doing nothing.

THIS is what everyone should be doing. Petition for the bootloaders BEFORE the phone is released.
The only message you will ever get from Samsung on this device is power down and return.
Samsung should make it so we have no desire to root our phones or need custom roms. By this point they need to work on the audio. There should be no reason why an app like viper cant be made. Instead they give us constantly crappy audio and laggy phones.

Thing is there will always be a reason to root and a lot of those reasons aren't a function of how samsung does business but rather a function of how android is designed, one example being adblocking. Even with those ones that route through a VPN that don't require root, they pale in comparison to Ad away.

Not going to happen. Phone is officially a write off so your chances of them pushing update to disable phone more likely than lobbying against unlocking broader on a recalled device. Furthermore to have one unlocked will hurt their bottom line, they only listen to the green backs. They always complain for security reasons for what they do but funny part is that custom roms (CM etc) don't have those security (stagefright) issues cause they are identified and patched before the masses sees it. They just want more from everyone and will always label us as pirates and hackers to keep the sheeple in line.
