Looking for root on T-Mobile SGH-T859 ICS 4.04 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

I seen a few threads for rooting the 10.1 ICS update but the links seem to be dead. The same root file for Honeycomb will install but doesn't seem to work. Since the same root method worked for the WiFi only version on Honeycomb I'm assuming it will be the case for ICS. Does anyone know if it will work and also maybe a link to get this zip file to flash in CWM? I have installed CWM touch recovery and that works fine just no root yet.

Nevermind please delee

Help?

Can you please post what you found? I've got ICS on my T859 but also want to find a working CWM and root please?
Thanks...

The existing root zip does work but you need to update Superuser after. Check the Superuser website for the latest update for your processor. Hope this helps! Worked for me.

Got it!

It did, thanks!
Also, for posterity, each version of the 10.1 has its own CWM. Here is the link to all of them:
http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=2668
You MUST use the T859 version for your T859!!!

i cant update my device coz the system detects that my device has been rooted though i already unroot it in the SuperSU app as stated on the One Click root thread.
Flashed with flash tool over 20h on a phone from VDF Romania. All went well, nothing spectacular to report works and seems as snappy (or choppy) as 20H was. Needs some settling in to decide but guess there are improvements (or slowdowns) somewhere there deep in the code.
hi can someone confirm the baseband version on their about .
i just flashed the modem only and i want to confirm it went ok.
many thanks
so whats new ? any news for when we will get the 5.1 SW -_-

I was unable to root from stock flash using v1.3 one click root, ended up having to install the pre rooted version in rom dev section.

You do not need root to install with KDZ files numerous guides to do it on the forums with a quick search.
the most important change is voLTE support, at least here in italy

[ROM]Deodexed stock 5.0.1 for t-810

This is not a full rom!!! It MUST be flashed OVER your existing rooted stock 5.0.1 rom. Make sure you do a backup BEFORE you flash!!!I am no dev, but I figured I would share my deodexed rom for t-810 users. With this, you can install xposed framework! You must be rooted with twrp. Flash this over your existing rom with twrp, and wipe dalvik after install. Enjoy!

Good stuff, just a reminder to people to do a full backup with TWRP before flashing just in case.
You guys rock. Thanks for root, twrp and now this. This tablet is gonna be badder ass than it already is!

99% of credit goes to @ashyx for root and twrp. I will post links to proper xposed files when I get home later.
Works very well! Thanks for the deodexed zip-file!
I used the "xposed-v71-sdk21-arm-arter97-V6-exynos.zip" and this works very well at the 5.01 rom.
Here is the link to the xposed-thread for the 5.0 Samsung roms:

This makes the Tab S2 much more useful till 5.1.1 with root is available.

@German Developer it booted properly, but it doesn't work okay. Super SU wants and binary update, that fails when asks to disable KNOX. Also the root checker apps say that the device root access is not properly installed.
I followed the steps correctly, Odin showed message "Passed".
Just to make sure, these is the information about the firmware, device, baseband and etc.
drive.google.com/file/d/0BxGe8IsiTwDCZ24wWlFaQ0pFZkk/view?usp=sharing
Should I isntall the firmware of the tutorial. And if yes, where can I find the files?

@German Developer, yeah man. All went perfect step by step. But root was unsuccessful. The Super SU is there. I can update it with market. But the binary fails to update. Can't see any apps in the super su. Should i install stock rom and firmware again and try the same

I would recommend you to do it, but before flashing it back try your root with the on play store called "root checker" and than you can see if you have root

Super SU tries to disable KNOX, and after 2-3 minutes says it cannot remove it.
Isn't it easier just to install TWRP and custom rooted rom?

SuperSU isn't working great for our device for root access so that's why it's stuck where it's at. Read up here http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...rom-stock-rooted-debloated-x1575-6-0-t3262242 and restore your phone and install one of these backups and do not use SuperSU to root for now. Hope this helps.

Sure does! I also just read that... But this way is a safer bet for people that don't wanna mess with flashing multiple files. I myself just want a systemless root with stock recovery which I have obtained finally. Problem is LOTS of posts in these forums are giving different instructions and there is no clear method for everyone unless you end up reading the proper one first.

Both of these are known to fail against this device, although I attempted to root with these to no effect.
Looks like the only sane way to root this device currently is via the pre-rooted option with Odin.
