Pershoot Kernel + ICS (Stock Room + root) = No Wi-fi - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

I've just flashed the Official ICS Room and made the root my self ! I prefere the Stock room's, but when i'm tring to flash the Pershoot Kermel, with overclock, i can't get the wi-fi working, anyone can tell me why ? I know that pershoot kermel is made for the CM Room, but dont work in any other? If dont can you tell me a Kernel with oc that work in my rooted stock rom ?
Other question, is it possible to flash a 7510 Rom in a 7500 tablet ? i got the 3g version but i never use the 3g, and i've want to try the Task Room, everybody says it the best one and i'm curious.
Ps: Sorry for the bad english

Pershoots kernel does not support the official ICS ROM. He said he might do a one time release of his kernel for the official ROM..

Bummer

Perhaps I'll get my hands on it so WiFi will work, won't promise though...

Check the Dev section - The A1 kernel is designed for stock ICS. The XE version I believe is OC'd to 1.4 GHz if I'm not mistaken.
I don't have a 3G tablet to be able to say for sure but I believe lots of ROM threads have info where people have asked this question. Research the Task ICS thread for details but I believe you'll be fine - short of losing 3G of course

The A1 kernel did nothing to fix the issue on my device(flickering screen still...),I don't say it's useless though...

[Kernel] Clemsyn's Kernel for 1.2 bootloader only Froyo/Ginger/Honeycomb Version

This is my version 11 kernel specifically build only for Bootloader 1.2. Just for you information. Bootloader 1.2 allows us to flash adam ROMS etc...This should also work for zpad. So if you updated to 1.2 bootloader and would want to go back to your old rom (Vegan, TNT, Clemsyn+Caulkin combo) all you have to do is flash the ROM and then flash the kernel and you should be good to go. Clemsyn,
I appreciate all you and Roebeet's work on bringing HC to the gTab. I installed BOS a2.3 Saturday and your version 11 kernel Sunday. This morning I install BOS a2.4 and reinstalled your version 11 kernel. Each time I look at the Kernel Version it says 2.6.32.9-clemsyn-g568f750-dirty. Am I doing something wrong or have you been too busy to update the version number?

its postulated that you can restore a backup of a 1.1 ROM while using the 1.2 BL and then flash the 1.2 kernel in order to get the ROM working. This needs to be tested.
I got stuck myself running the CM7 2.3.4 nightlies.

That is the right process in which you can restore run 1.1 ROM, and then flash it with Clemsyn's or Pershoot's NEWBL kernel.

i just turned on my new g-tabler for the first time. it wants to update from 3551 to 3991, would that put me on 1.2 ? or doeso only the 4xxx update move to 1.2?
Also, i read 1.2 is locked and does not allow custom kernels, this seems to be a custom kernel for 1.2, so was that info proven wrong? the thread is locked so i cant ask there
i am looking for stability and full hw accel (and something actively developed) can someone suggest a rom?
I do part-time android developer, you can see my apps/projects in my sig, I may see how I can contribute to the g-tablet now that I have one
thanks!

I think 3991 using 1.2 boot loader
To make easier update, see roebet honeycomb thread
You will find everything there for upgrading to 1.2 BL
I suggest to use 1.2 based ROM since more upcoming ROM such as honeycomb will use 1.2 BL
Lot of people say calkulin+clemsyn combo 6 is fast stable ROM
Btw, if you know some android! programming, maybe you can
work on Bluetooth DUN dial up client application.
Gtab only has wifi, meaning when travelling and can't get wifi, it's cripple
There is solution already with android phone to have wifi tethering.
But for people don't have android phone, Bluetooth dun tethering will be better
choice since most of smartphone have Bluetooth DUN capability.
I think this what lot of people missing now in gtab.
I have study a bit and find out in fact android git already implement Bluetooth dun
functionality. However missing DUN dialer application.
Only Archos makes their own DUN shipped with Archos 70 series
Clem is it possible to get a 1.6 oc version of this for 1.2 honeycomb? I had my tab up to 1.6 on 3.1.4 enhancement and was stable and flying. Like to push it as far as I can.

Hey Clemsyn,
Now that rayman has a mostly working 2.6.36 kernel for Adam and they are close to having useful honeycomb roms that run on it, including full hardware acceleration, is there any hope that you'll get in to his git and make a gtab kernel out of it?
I did try booting a boot.img that rayman gave me, and then also the ic1.zip which is a full test rom, but nothing gets past the Viewsonic birds. He has some ideas, and knows changes need to be made for Gtab. It would be great if you could get involved.

Finding out what ROM was installed

Hey
I used to have a nice ROM installed with a kernel that allowed overclocking. I would run my shift at 1.5Ghz and was really happy. Then when Gingerbread was coming out, I decided to flash a Gingerbread ROM because I was just excited for 2.3
Now there were not kernels for Gingerbread ROMs at that time. So formatted/wiped everything from my device using Clockwork Recovery. Now here's where I have a few questions:
After I wiped the entire device, when my phone booted, it seemed to have 2.3 installed so I assumed that since there was an OTA update for Gingerbread, it must have gotten updated somehow. I want to find out whether I have a custom ROM with 2.3 installed or is it a regular Gingerbread stock ROM that's on my device?
I would like to find out what kind of ROM is installed on my device right now and do whatever it takes to be able to flash a kernel that allows overclocking, because going back to 800Mhz from 1500Mhz is just not doing it.
I would also really appreciate if someone gave me direct links to a custom ROM (since I understand at this time it is impossible to flash an overclocked kernel, since HTC has not released official Gingerbread source code yet) with a flashable kernel that's completely stable and allows overclocking to 1.5Ghz.
I really don't care about the whole Cynaogen Mod etc, because I use LauncherPro anyway and from what I understood when I was reading about Cyanogen Mod, it doesn't change THAT much other than adding a little bit more functionality and mainly focusing on changing the phone interface, which is completely irrelevant to me.
Thank you in advance.

If you just did a wipe and didn't flash anything, your still running the same ROM as you were before the wipe. If you go into setting > about phone > software information > more, this will tell you your current ROM (build version). If you would like to continue using Sense but want to overclock I would suggest MikShift 1.1, otherwise I would suggest the Shift Deck ROM. Both can be overclocked with several different kernels, just do a little reading through the dev section to see what best suites you.
Disregard, just typed what crump said but he beat me to it!

Question about rom's

This is probarly asked alot so sry
But considering the risk with putting roms on your phone.
and considering the advantages from these roms.
What do you suggest to do if i want to play save
-> Upgrading to 2.2 with Kies (samsung software)
-> Upgrading to 2.2 stock with odin
-> Upgrading to 2.2 ROM with no OC
And for the roms wich do you suggest as the safest and stable (no bugs)

well if u're on 2.1...i recommend to first go to 2.2 with odin(stock)...and then look at dev section and select a rom which suits you best...
i use three rom's...two are froyo&cm7(2.3.5)...and with froyo ones i have zero problems...i think if you choose betwen these two and follow all the instructions tight....then you should be fine
but it's your call

If you want to play safe, just do nothing.
But if you want to upgrade your phone, do it with some custom rom from this forum. I believe the Kyrillos rom is the most popular (hence, 'the best'). I upgraded my phone being a total noob to the kyrillos rom and I'm very happy with my galaxy 3. It's much faster (without overclock) and my battery lasts much longer. I can do things my phone never could before (with stock 2.2).
Regarding your points of concern:
- Messing things up: it's really difficult to really really **** up the phone. Follow the instructions and if you have a question, search on the forum or ask it. Once you've done the rooting, you realise it's a very simple proces.
- The possible bugs: sometimes you encounter a bug, but in most cases it's no big deal ( some visual letter or icon thing) and chances are high it's repaired in the next version.
If I was you, I'd consider a custom rom (like Kyrillos 9).

Custom ROMs on official gingerbread

Hi all,
For everyone asking about custom roms ont 2.3.4 here is the situation :
For everyone who have upgraded the MS2 to the Official 2.3.4, no step back is possible to Froyo 2.2 or 2.2.2.
custom ROMs based on Froyo will not work (like CM7/9 from Tezet.)
=> Someone will have to build on based on the 2.3.4 kernel.
custom ROMs based on Chinese GB seems to work...
=> MS2Ginger for exemple.
custom ROMS based on Defy+ ROMs ?
So, who want that the CM or MIUI ROMs are ported to the newer Motorola kernel ? (So everyone could choose between BLUR, CM and others ?)
I say it on an other thread that the ms2ginger and the argen2stone roms are running on an ms2 with stock gb rom. Somebody must make an cm7 with the 2.3 kernel than wie can use customroms.
thanks for your thread.
But my question is, this official rom 2.3.4 does work better than froyo? or the custom rom 2.3.7 de CM7? It might be a dumb question or it's answered in another thread, if that case sorry.
Thanks
Yes i want Miui with the new kernel ! For a better touchsreen sensitivity for eg.
I try Argen2Stone 2.7 RE but i dont see adjust scrips and keep the old dialer from stock rom.
The 2.3.4 brings some bug fixes, and some upgrades.
From the kernel point of view, the same release is used (Linux Kernel 2.6.32.9). So no major bug fixes at kernel level for my point of view. Maybe some parameters changed.
The main point is for the "upgraders" to Gingerbread that can't go back to Froyo.

I think that the new kernel can improve MS2 performace so a rom based on the new kernel it's much better than the old modded rom.

or new FR
is true. I think it's time to leave the kernel of froyo that is old and start to compile with the new kernel brings improvements and is of GB!
GB kernel is in fact the same linux kernel version as froyo kernel, so there are not any improvements except for some minor patches.... So no reason to leave froyo.
I just don't get why you all guys updated to GB and then you all crying, you can't use custom roms and that froyo kernel is old and why gingerbread isn't used... GB kernel in custom roms isn't high priority in dev right now. Deal with it. GB kernel don't bring any valuable improvements, so only reason to leave froyo and get in GB are you all, who did that mistake and upgraded to official GB without even reading the forum here (because it was already written so many times there...).
No offense please, I'm just sayin' that GB kernel in custom roms don't have high priority, because of missing downgrade capability and because they don't bring nothing so exciting and big or valuable, nothing worth. So when dev update to GB, he can't go back to froyo - and this is quite big limitation...
Actually CM9 does work over Euro GB kernel. It is based on Chinese GB kernel. And I must say Tezet has made some really good progress with CM9.
And Defy ROMs based on Defy+ kernel have also been proved to work on Euro GB kernel.
These ROMs work if we remove devtree.img and boot.img from the update.zip and thus only flash system.
So I guess it is only a matter of time.

And don't take my words too personal. Easy man, easy...
Sometimes it's cool to have stock ROM. But,it will be much cooler if we can switch to custom ROM's. Stock ROMs are slower and less free RAM than CM7 or MIUI. Now,I'm getting bored with MS2Ginger2.1.
All we have to do is just wait..
