Replacement for Xperia Play: Moga Controllers - Xperia Play General

Hi guys,
I recently noticed many people saying goodbye to Xperia Play n going to S3 or other devices..
Ques: I want to know if its good option to replace Xperia Play with ARCHOS GAMING TABLET?
Ans: I have tried Archos Gamepad and trust me its pathetic !! Better avoid, its waste of money.
Finally m using MOGA CONTROLLERS with my Galaxy Note 2 and its pretty cool.
Waiting for Moga Controller Pro version now.

I don't think that's a phone

Nope, check the YouTube videos, its got severe button issues that kill it's ability to be a competent gaming device. The "Much 3G" looks to be much better.

It doesn't seem to be much more powerful than our Play but it does look nice.

And 666 hours on stanby... beast's toy :cyclops:
But seriously I think there will be Xperia Play 2. Start next year as lots of contracts going to finish (like my) and big hole in market will appear. To big to miss tat opportunity, specially Sony said that selling of XP was bigger as predicted so I have hope

I'd Rather buy a real ps vita and put a cfw on it then buying this cheap thing looks like the build quality is really cheap

HTC one x rooted sixaxis app gameklip and iv got my self a tegra 3 xplay with a real controller

Guys, what u say about this: ARCHOS GAMING TABLET
http://www.techdigest.tv/2012/08/ifa_2012_archos.html

I haven't been using my Xperia Play for gaming much lately but I have to say it is nice to take it out of my pocket and slide the screen up and game while waiting at the Dr's office or other excruciatingly boring event...

Equally, how the hell do you use a 7 inch gamepad as a phone?

The Archos gaming tablet is just that, a Tablet not a phone.
I have enough phones, I`m more interested in the gaming part of it with physical controls.
I know you can pair up controllers to some other devices, but that means using bluetooth which is bound to be a drain on battery, and also while I feel comfortable using my PS3 pad on my PS3, I don`t think it`s so cool on a mobile phone.

Fair comment, however I still prefer the idea of an all in one unit as opposed to carrying a controller and a device.
Also to be fair this archos tablet gamepad actually looks good to me, and it`s price seems very fair to.

Seriously, both look ridiculous.

That setup just for when I'm traveling or sometimes at work break when at home I use mhl or ps3 plus a ps3 controllers are one of the best and to attach it like this is pritty cool much better than my xplay them thing have got so much potential but Sony just won't support shame really all it need is tegra 3 and Analog sticks

Archos Gaming Tablet:
The best part? Archos claims to have developed a “mapping and game recognition” software that will allow virtual controls to be mapped to its buttons, even for games that don’t actually support physical controllers

Hdmi output for the xperia play

Hey guys while I was browsing the web I just came across this
http://blog.gsmarena.com/watch-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-connect-to-hdtv-through-its-mhl-port-video/
Will it be possible that the connector can work with our phone also? It can be really fûň to play games on the "big" screen

Would be cool but I don't think it will. I have seen reviews where they claim it can but they had no clue.
This is an official Samsung release nd they have a vid it works

Would need software on the handset. Guess if SE really wanted to they could develop something and then release a SW update along with cable.
Personally not fussed about sending image to TV but I can see why others would like it.
but the play has a USB port not an hml port.
Even the galaxy s 2 has a usb port

There are Plays with HDMI out but they are development units. They used them for E3 last year.
i saw some photos from the sony booth at E3 and they are using the Xplay through the big screens. i hope they make something for retail, would be kinda neat...
I very much doubt this'll happen - the retail Xperia Play only has a micro-USB port - nothing useful for video-out... Better wait for the NGP. Even then, that's no guarantee
Someone should make a screen streaming app.
Use Bluetooth or wifi. That would be cool. Stream my x play to my iPad 2.

Controllers for tablets

Hi there,
Is it possible to make a phone a controller for your tablet? I have a galaxy s2 and galaxy tab 10.1 - it would be great to be able to use my phone as the wireless controller...
Has this already been achieved? If so, please point me in the right direction...!

You'll have to provide more more information than that. What do you want to control?
Otherwise it's just like saying "I want a transport vehicle" and it could be anything, car, bike etc. You get my point

What I figure Freddie means is what I've been looking for as well - to use your Android phone as a gamepad or otherwise for your Android tablet, similar to the SNES HD app for the iPad:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlcigMvkkoU
There is great support for exterior controllers like the Wiimote being used for emulators and games on phones and tablets, but porting this method of using your phone as the controller itself is a great way for people who don't already own/don't want to buy another accessory.
I would assume it'd be similar to broadcasting your phone as a BT keyboard, and then using various button mappings fullscreened to create the gamepad. If an Android phone can receive input from a device, why couldn't it broadcast it?
Indeed!
Why use a gamepad when i could use my phone!

PS3 controller works on Nexus S 4G 2.3.5 rooted stock rom.

Just like the title says, I just got the "Sixaxis Controller" app from the market and it works on our phone.
The app is here https://market.android.com/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller&feature=search_result
Just tested with a couple of emus and it works great!
costs money though
nice any games that support it? or just emulators?
wirelessly?
you use a device twice as big as your phone to play with it ^^, that's not very portable

I know for sure emulators do. As for regular games the controller works the same as a slide out keyboard (you just program the keys) so if a keyboard is supported for button mapping so is the controller.

Can this work without being rooted? I've always liked a lot of the games for mobile phones but never liked the touch screen controls.

As far as I know you have to be root.
I've been waiting on this, using the wiimote was awesome but it lacked buttons.
I'm using a Nexus S (T-Mobile bands) with CM7 nightly 155 and netarchy 1.3.9. I purchased the app and it works perfectly.
I'm loving this so much!
Has anybody got the keys mapped out for gun bros?

pls help me to decide....

i want buy a tab but cant decide..
should i buy this tab???
pros and cons????
performance????
ur views will be valuable for me...
Yes.
Pros: cheap, fast, direct updates, large dev community, awesome roms...ect
Cons: front camera, many screen lift reports
I just bought this today. I have a HP at home, this thing rocks. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. I have two weeks, originally I was 95% sure I was going to return...now, I'm want to keep it.

It's definitely the best thing going for the money you pay. Smoother than an ipad too!
It is the best tablet you can buy. You probably read about screen lift issue, well dont bother about this, every tablet has issue when it release first. and Anyway, it is fixed by now All new built device has this issue fixed (this apply to some C8O and C9O Model Number and up )

Not natively, but there are several free media player apps that do. One of these is MX Player.

Is there a way to use Xperia Play as gamepad without root?

Hi, I've gotten my Nexus 7 a few days ago, and the phone I use is the Xperia Play, I want to use my phone as a game pad for my Nexus using the physical buttons and touch pad on XPlay for games like Shadowgune Deadzone. Thanks if you answer!
