TMobile officially ends the galaxy note! - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

It's official, TMobile has cut the galaxy note out. Why? Probably has to do with the fact that the note 2 is around the corner. And I waited all this time for the note to come out on TMobile! Late to the party note, thanks. Although I did get a note and I love it for it's huge display and stylus, there is nothing else impressive about this phone. All I can do now is wait for the note 2, will be announced thus month on the 29th, and enjoy the last few breaths this note has left,in it.

Well, besides the brick-bug which can easily be avoided, what is there to dislike? I mean, other than the quad-core behemoths, the Note is still a very powerful device and the large screen plus S Pen just add to its capabilities. If you don't find a use for the S Pen, or larger screen, then why not just get an Galaxy S3 or HTC One X rather than wait for the Note 2?

IM guessing that's directed at me since you did quote me. X) I actually traded my have for the TMobile note last week. I love the big screen and the stylus, but the note could have definitely used more ram. Most of the time at Any given usage the note is occupying more than %85 of ram and it's clearly obvious. I love the note, just wish the size matched it's internal hardware specs. Note 2 is ganna rock.

Speaking about RAM, yes I agree Note has bare minimum available to run smoothly. When I run Tasker with sweet sounding Loquendo TTS engine announcing vital info, things start to load afresh when apps are switched.

Switching from Note I to Note II

I'm seriously planning to buy a Note II and I currently own a Note I.
However, currently I see there are almost all new features that are available in Note II are now available for Note I (based on N7000XXLS7 rom update), will buying this now will really be a worthy upgrade?
Considering only on features and not on ROM Capacity , Processor type and clock speed?
Any comments would greatly appreciated.

While original note is an amazing phone, just for battery life is well worth the upgrade. I used to average 4 hrs of screen on time on my note but on note 2 i average 7 hrs. Throw in hardware upgrade and JB and its an easy decision.

Agree completely. If you like your note1, you'll love note2. I thought note1 was reall, really good. Note2 is the best phone I've ever laid hands on.
I think the upgrade is debateable.

Note 1 is was and still is a great phone but even with jb it still wont be as good as note2 only thing I could tell the difference was going to 16/9 screen I could telk it was just a bit narrower but after a few days soin forgot plus the screen on the gn2 soon made me forget

Having said that, the one disadvantage of the note 2 over the note 1 is the inability to move apps to sd card in the note 2.

overall- i'm happy with the upgrade over my old GN1
To be honest, I regret buying the note 1 and sold it after a month. However, note 2 is way better and think I am going to stick with it for a very long time. Best phone right now imoh. So go for it man.

I'm thinking about it as well. Had my Note on EBay today and took it down as I have JB now and the prices will be dropping soon. Costco has the S3 for 129.00 . Black Friday deals could be worth waiting for. I don't see the advantage of the International version anymore except for the FM. Tough decesion. But the longer I wait the better idea I will have on which TW Rom will take the lead as well

I am 100% happy with my Note II and I think anyone who buys one is unlikely to be disappointed, however I didn't get that "blown away" feeling that I got when I first switched from SGSII to the original Note.
I Broke the screen on my Note I & have not got around to fixing it, so mine needed replacing anyway, before I broke the Note I, I absolutely loved it and feel it was probably the best smartphone I'd ever used ( and I have used plenty) I feel the Note II is for all intents and purposes the same phone as the Note I with a few tweaks, and since I prefer to run CM10 I have to say I barely notice the differences between the two - this is not a slur against the Note II , more praise for the Note I.
Maybe if you are a fan of Touchwiz & all the S-pen stuff then its a different story, but my experience is like an iPhone upgrade - simply more of the same with a few tweaks.
In daily use there is little difference for me, personally. My gf has the 1 now, and i am jealous of her extra 80 pixels.

The note series is one of Samsung's flagship lines.
The 'mega' phones, on the other hand, seem to be a low/mid-range phone for people who don't need much in a phone, but want a large screen.
It's a pretty good idea, not sure how it'll sell though.
- Frank
The main difference between the Note series and any of the others (S, Mega) is that the Note series comes with a stylus.
Hence 'Note'. For note taking.
So no. I doubt the Mega series will "replace" the Note series per se.
But it might help cater more for those who want a large phone and never use their stylus.
Well, I can count up to three people I know who bought their notes just for their big screen, and almost never use the stylus.
So it might not be a "replacement", in the full meaning of the word, but more like a better option for all of the people who just don't need an stylus in their phones, specially if it comes with the not-wacom-screen discount...
I seriously doubt it, For me this mega series is just too big. I consider anything above 5.6 inches to be a tablet.
The good news is that we now know the note 3 wont be 6.3 ins.
Looking at his expected specs, especially the display, Samsung doesn't want it to be a high-end phone like the note series. It will, again it's just a rumour, have a LCD display with the same resolution as ours, but with a way lower dpi value. That's exactly the point why I'm not really interested in this device.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
thank God, i never wanted note 3 to be more than 6 in. now i can hope for a 5.7-5.9 in note 3 wow. it would be an ideal device if its 5.7 in.

Aimed at different markets - I can see this more for the "developing" markets where the majority can't afford a phone and a tablet but want both.
its not just specific to the developing countries. Even elsewhere people dont like multiple devices with scattered data. unified devices are appreciated by all these days

I would say more:
Galaxy Mega = Note 2 - S pen - Superamoled screen
And Mega line will probably stick to plastic while Note3 and S5 will change body material to single aluminium body frame.
It will be another option, that's all.
I think many people would buy a slightly improved Mega 5.8 over a Note. Put the 6.3 specs into the 5.8's body and change the screen for AMOLED and I think it would appeal to many.
if note 3 is over 6 inches then bye bye samsung. 5.8 should be the size of the note 3 and what samsung did, wasted the ideal smartphone size on a useless junk. i dont think samsung sales this year will be sky high.
i think their downhill is started because they are packing the market with junk like galaxy grand, s3 mini, note 8.0 and now this galaxy mega.
there is no development on these devices and that they are not the flagships yet they will compete with samsungs own flagships rather than competing with the rivals.
so samsung ur time to shine is gone. seems like u have burnt all he fuel and is now becoming the dying star
just a thought

Like a removable battery and sdcard slot. That to me means a lot. I hate having a battery I can't remove and/or upgrade. I rather buy a cheaper phone memory wise and be able to put a sdcard in it. $100 for an upgrade from a 32gb to a 64gb is just crazy. I can buy 2 64gb cards for $100 bucks and have 5 times the memory on hand. I am waiting to find out when the Note 3 is coming out and what it really has to offer to make up my mind.

The Note is much larger though, which will turn some folks off.
it is, but only by .4 inches. Its not like they are comparing the S3/S4 size against the Note 3. Some people will be turned off, but some people might like a bigger screen that has styus. I get turned off by smaller sized screens. Every phone that I have had has been bigger than the last except when I upgraded from the Evo to Evo 3D.
This phone will be fine. LG is quickly becoming Samsung chief competitor. They too make the Smart Tv's which integrate with the phones, and are basically able to match Samsung step for step. There are people who cannot stand Samsung for whatever reason and will be all over this phone. HTC has always been my preference but I'm gonna give this phone a thorough once over and may jump on board the LG wagon.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The launch time could be a blessing or a curse. The pro is that there aren't many flagship phones (read: not phablets) being launched right now and thus this will be ahead of most things on the market, unlike in Spring, when HTC and Samsung both release products with nearly identical specs. Unfortunately for LG though, this could mean people will wait for the next "Galaxy" or next HTC device (HTC 2? HTC One Jr.?) or maybe next Xperia.
Came here cuz I'm wondering about development too. The OG actually has a lot of development and development is just getting started in the GPro. Based on latest Note 3 rumors (take this with a grain of salt) the G Pro can hang with it and it is significantly cheaper. Being on all carriers will help the attraction. Just my 2 cents.

Yes. Don't forget that G2 is bigger than SGS4 only by .2" and Note III bigger than G2 only by .4" So no big deal in reality. BUT Note III will have lot heavier bezels and therefor will be more bulky and not ergonomic and less gripfriendly
Well we don't fully know what the note 3 will look like exactly, we only speculations so far. The G2 will be good for me though. But honestly I wouldn't mind a note 3 because my next upgrade is November. That's the only reason. But I would really like the G2 because I am in love with my GPro.

And so ? Samsung 10.1 tablet can not release normally , there is still no LTE 32GB version in black, original covers for 10.1 tablet...
Theres been rumors of this for a while, looks like internals will be identical, only difference is screen size and it'll probably be more expensive. I'd probably prefer a larger tablet to fit the size of a sheet of paper but i'm not sure if I'd pay extra for it since it'll be close to the size of a laptop screen.

yeah, it's been known for a good bit and even mentioned in one of these threads here. seeing as the 10.1 is $600 i'm sure as hell not gonna spend that much more on an android device that i break a warranty if i want root access. i'll just get a wintab and put what ever os i want. if next year's samsung tablet jumps the $600 price, i'll just have to do with out the spen or just stick with some x64 tablets.

I believe I will stick with the 10.1 as the screen is currently rounded up to 300 ppi. The 12.2 will have a lower ppi if it has the same resolution, and if it has a higher resolution then the extra processing power will have to accommodate that. The 10.1 is already a little sluggish as it is (hoping for more snappy updates).

Samsung's product releases are already shoddy enough. I'm perfectly content with just getting the friggin 2014 note 10.1, but it's not available yet in Canada despite it being out for 3 weeks and counting in the US. All Samsung Canada has to say is 'sorry we don't know lol'. Anyway if they really want to compete well with Apple, they should really have a shorter wait between announcement and release. Also release simultaneously internationally!
I have half a mind to just go get the damn iPad Air at the time it was announced (which I won't anyway). Apple announced it a month later than the new note and it's going to be coming out sooner here! Hell we don't even have a firm release date for the WiFi version here. Even in the US there's no word about the LTE version. Crappy logistics.
