Stock Official Firmware for GT-N8013 *Request* - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

I was dumb and flashed a custom rom for GT-N8000, it works however i have some exchange sync issues so want to revert back. I know some cusotom roms for this device will appear soon, but short term does anyone have the odin restore files I could use to get back to stock?

Use the root injected stock version from here:

I already put an N8013 stock kernel/recovery dump somewhere in one of the threads.
At some point I'll work on a complete RTS package - param, recovery, kernel, system.

Stock Rom files Unrooted?

If this has already been answered I apologize. I am looking for the stock files to flash in Odin for the Continuum in case of disaster. I am going to root my wifes phone to remove the bloatware and if there is one thing I learned with my fascinate is those files are priceless. Anyone know where I can get the stock files to start over is I need to?

We have some odin files, but they're untested. They are also rooted :-/
If we can get someone to test our DJ20 odin files, then I'm sure someone can figure out how to remove root from them.

I got a stock ROM and kernel from imnuts; would that be the same ones you have?
I flashed that stock ROM and kernel using ODIN on my continuum (which was previously bricked by too much tinkering), and everything works on the phone except for cell data (well, I haven't tested bluetooth on it). If you have different images, I'd be happy to try them out and let you know how it goes.
I also will probably try re-flashing them again just to see if it comes out differently.

Your best bet would be FREEZING your bloatware with Titanium backup PRO to see if you encounter any negative side-effects. If so all you have to do is unfreeze. I freeze apps I don't want and after a week (after backing up) I'll go ahead and fully uninstall them. One at a time, so if **** hits the fan, you know what to restore...

XXLS1 JB leak and eMMC "brickbug" safety

I was going to put this in the JB thread, but that has apparently been locked due to flaming.
As mentioned in other threads on the eMMC "brickbug", Samsung's official patch for this issue is NOT to remove MMC_CAP_ERASE, but to only disable secure erase in the kernel.
See: https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1383661/
Now, we've been highly disappointed that Samsung hasn't included this patch in many updates for a variety of devices. However, on analyzing the kernel, it appears it *might* be safe due to having Samsung's official patch.
If you unpack the kernel, and then run "strings" on the unpacked image, you will see the following:
Code:
M8G2FA
MAG4FA
MBG8FA
MCGAFA
VAL00M
VYL00M
KYL00M
VZL00M
e.g. the exact list from the above patch, in the correct order.
So it looks like the XXLS1 JB leak is *probably* safe from the Brickbug - unless Samsung is wrong about nonsecure erase being safe.
+1

The usual applies... Flashing anything via Odin is safe. Flashing anything from a safe kernel is safe. Flashing something with a "safe" update-binary should be safe even on a dangerous kernel.
I'm not going to guarantee the safety of the XXLS1 kernel, as it's hard to guarantee that it is doing what we think it is, but it is PROBABLY safe as opposed to definitively dangerous like any previous official ICS kernel binary. We won't know unless people take risks unfortunately...
ok using the jb rom i did indeed soft brick has taken 5 hrs to get my note working, i had a custom rooted 404 rom on with hydracore install the jb with cwm and that was it stuck on samsung logo ,so i then tried to flash stock 404 with pc odin and was stuck on flashing fs image, finally got it working with the pit method and by updating bootloader and clear efs, this has kinda scared me as after a cple hrs trying that it would be sent to repair

Anyway odin stuck on factoryfs and needing PIT file method to revive Note is SUPERBRICK, not "softbrick"

You'll be able to go back to stock and reset the flash counter with triangle away should you need to send your phone back for service. That is, unless you do something very wrong so just make sure you read and understand everything before flashing.

Don't b scared.
Don't be scared, and read the forums here
Make sure you understand what you are doing, and there are some awesome guides here for beginners, read them. DO NOT forget to create a backup before you proceed. Download the official firmware for your model too, just in case something goes wrong. And be confident, hopefully nothing will go wrong if you follow the steps word by word.

Hi, like Jccurran.jc, I am a new comer to the Android world and delighted to have a S4. Having rooted my phone, I am starting to explore what custom ROMs have to offer. In this staged process, I am now keen to get Recovery on my phone but despite my readings still have a number queries that I would be grateful for someone to help me understand. All of these are based on the premise that you must have custom recovery on your phone before moving to installing a custom ROM on it. The specific questions I have are:
Am I correct in understanding that "custom recovery" is merely the means of installing a ROM to return to should the installation of a custom ROM go wrong?
If this is the case, why can't your Stock ROM achieve this fall-back role?
There seem to be several ways of installing a custom Recovery whether it be via TWRP, ClockWorkMod and Philz CWM. These all seem to achieve the same objective but use different custom recovery file formats whether they be zip, taz or image files. However, is the method of choice largely a personal one and once the custom recovery file is in place, it doesn't make any difference when you move on to installing a custom ROM or are you now locked into a set way of installing a Custom ROM?
All guides to undertaking installation of a custom recovery stress the importance of backing up your phone (which is a little confusing to a new comer as I have Titanium Backup Pro but can't backup my ROM until I have Recovery in place?). I have done what I can but note that some sites recommend using EFS Prossional to backup my phone's EFS settings folder that contains very critical phone specific information that include IMEI (encrypted in the nv_data.bin), wireless MAC addresses and product code. While I can't be certain that this doesn't happen with Apps like My Backup Pro or Helium, it seems very sensible to help avoid bricking my phone but the program itself requires BusyBox v1.20.2, not the current version in Google Play Store which is more recent but as the developer states is less stable than the older version (and with which EFS Professional wont work). Despite my best attempts to locate the older version as a APK file I haven't been able to as most links point to crap or seem to be for inclusion in custom ROMs (but this may reflect my lack of understanding of the Android system). Can anyone help me understand this and point me to a site where I can obtain the necessary version of BusyBox to enable me to run EFS Professional?
Some sites, including one of the responders to this thread, point out the importance of staying with your phone's offical firmware so that the modem and other hardware components of your phone continue working properly. I have purchased an unlocked international GT-I9595 phone via an internet store that has the baseband version I9505ZHUAME1. Should I my custom recovery file be the same (or its more recent release) or can I use an international LTE variant file such as "CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip"? Obviously, living in Australia, I am not wedded to the Hong Kong based ROM that is native to my phone.
If the answer to the previous question is to stay with the phone's native ROM, then this may force me away from TWRP as it doesn't believe there is any Recovery files available for my phone. Does this fit with other people's experience?
Many thanks in advance for any responses as I totally agree with another responders to this thread (FlOYD') advice: "Make sure you understand what you are doing!".
Basically the first step to customising your Android device is rooting, second step is backing up EFS and third is installing a custom recovery.
The stock recovery doesn't give you an option to install anything or make backups this is why you need custom.
The first thing I do after flashing a custom recovery (usually a .tar.md5 file in PDA section of Odin) is back up my current state.
You can choose any recovery you like, like firmware, some are built better than others. CWM is the original and probably the most used, followed by TWRP. They both have advantages and disadvantages.
I prefer Philz version of CWM personally as I don't flash CM based ROMs and tend to stick with Touchwiz ROMs.
You can also flash custom kernels using a custom recovery this is basically the 'bridge' between your phone's hardware and software. You can change LOTS of things with a custom kernel, I won't go into that.
Once you've backed up your EFS and current state you can flash a new Rom, try it out, if you don't like it then just restore back to your old back up
Before making any changes to themes, or installing zips you should make a backup, that why if anything goes wrong you can just restore it again. And believe me it happens often!
Read through threads, read again and when using Odin double check everything is in the right place and DO NOT TICK REPARTITION!
I'm sure you'll be fine, you seem like a responsible guy lol
Have fun with your new toy!

[Q] convert i9505 to 100% i9505g

Hi,
Since both phones are identical in hardware. Is it possible to convert the international 9505 to be a 100% gpe with ota working? I don't mean by flashing one of those custom roms floating around.
I tried several custom roms like janjans and jamals, but both drain battery twice as fast as the stock Samsung rom (18h vs. 32h).There is no wakelock issue. The roms simply drain the battery faster for no reason.
My hope is to have a clean gpe that's provided and updated by Google.

That won't happen. Samsung *may* provide something..
These problems aside.. as far as I can see, what we need it a full Odin package that can be flashed onto a i9505 or a i9505G (since they share the same hardware). As far as I can find.. so far, no such package exists.
I don't have a i9505G, but I wonder.. does it come with a Samsung Kies package? What is the procedure to flash it back to factory settings? I can't recall the last Samsung device where system images were not available.. these are usually pulled directly from the Kies/Samsung update server.
Anyway.. I'm here waiting like many of you are as well.

I can't find an ODIN package either, and no--the GPe GS4 does not come with a Kies package. I wish it did. I want one now.
Yes, a full Odin package would be the best, but as you found there seems to be none. Even sammobile does not provide any rom for the gpe. It's like the phone doesn't exist in the Samsung world oO.
On the other hand side the has to be an Odin package (which might not be available to the public) because the i9505g is out in stores and it had to be flashed at least once.
And honestly I don't think that Samsung flashes the gpe in a different way as the i9505. Since this would require new tools that cost money.
So, there has to be an Odin package we just don't know about it by now *hoping*

I Just got galaxy s 4 for wifey, and i am really upset that i9505 cannot be converted like my HTC One on which I got 4.3 OTA, I wonder why no one thought about it here. may be people are happy with custom rom, but me, I would like OTA as its served, not custom ones.
I'm with you guys... I know that it will be a reason why we can't "convert" our I9505 in to I9505G just like that, with a simple Rom flash, but:
I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44425206#post44425206 [ODIN][TAR] 4.3 I9505GUEUBMH1 Full Rooted Restore , an ODIN file to restore I9505G.... the warning text says: NOT FOR I9505-I9500 (in red!), but why? is not the same hardware?
Maybe is the ray of light we are waiting for? :fingers-crossed:
If someone try to flash it, let us know if its works.

Changing the build prop does not a ROM make. I guess I should do proper research on some of these ROMs. I was psyched to get wireless charging back, that was my fave thing about my Pre. For the record, every day I spend here trying to decide what's next, I keep looking at my i9100 and say; why do I need to?

Not really scared lol. Last phone I had anything custom on was the s3. Looking around it's obvious things don't work the same.
Only thing I have done with this s4 is root. Now I'm wanting to run a rom without all the extra att bloat. So just wondering what rom and recovery I should go with. I have Nl1 if it matters.
I want the bloat gone but still have the fancy features. Any input is appreciated!

Lots to read. But, in case it isn't immediately obviuos, you will need SafeStrap and its recovery. You will only be able to run, for the most part, TouchWiz roms. No custom recoveries or kernels.
Yeaaa lot of reading done after posting lol. Got safestrap running and recovery. Decided on the golden eye rom. For some reason I lose imei. Created a new Rom slot for it and flashed the module after the rom.
Had this issue on the s3 but can't remember what I did to fix it. If anyone has any ideas let me know.
