Animator duration scale? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know what "Animator duration scale" in the Developer options settings is?

I'd like to know, too

Seems even google doesn't know since I haven't found the information despite googling for some time.
Since transition and window animations are covered by the other options I can only assume it affects widget animations or something.

This animation is when you press the app tray button.
However, you may change this option and notice it has no effect! Fine, call me a liar. Seriously though...
The reason it will *appear* to have no effect is because the launcher will need to be restarted.
Just set it to .5 or off if you want your app tray to pop up MUCH faster.
I assume this has no effect on custom launchers.

I was looking for this too, and did not find any answer, so I tried to set Animator duration scale to 10x and result is that this is let's say in app animation. In camera app it's animation of hiding settings buttons etc.
Truth is that an app has to be restarted to take effect. Just press recent apps and swype application , you're testing on away.
You can try it or watch video on YT http://youtu.be/Qot4n0EV1SE

hope this helps.
It changes the speed of certain apps animation and some system animation. Keeping it off or lower will increase the speed of animation.

ICS animation scale

Hey guys,
What's the difference between Window Animation scale and Transition animation scale? I set the window animation scale to 5 to see what's the difference but I cannot really tell?
Window is how fast the popups for things like as a example notification choosing, transition is going from menu to menu(with animations turned on)
1x is normal speed, 0.5 is twice as fast and 10 is 10 times as slow
Sent from my ice cream powered Nexus S
Played with window animation and it seems that its not used as much as the transition animation.

When setting the value lower (number wise) the animations are done faster, such as windows coming in and out of view etc (doesn't effect scrolling) I think home scrolling is effected though
When setting the value higher (number wise) the animations are presented alot slower, I set the value to 5 that you were using, from the Default (1), and all the animations were HELL! slow haha! Painful to use, felt boggy
Transition Animation numbers effect when windows come in and out of view such as opening settings, applications etc
The window animation is the windows "inside windows" that come in and out of view, such as if you set window animation to 10, and then go to the home page and press your settings button so it displays "Add, Wallpapers, Search, Widgets" etc, it opens hell slow
As well as if the value of Window Animation Scale is 10, when you get out of everything and go back into it to change it to 1 (Default) again, the window that opens that shows x.5 | x1 | x1.5 | 2 | 2.5 etc opens heaps slowly!
That's what the difference is

Hi all,
How can i enable back the animations?
I played a little with all the options (x1, x0.5, x10 etc) just to see the differences. Then I selected the first option ("none"/"off") for Windows animation scale and Transition animation scale and then these 2 options became inactive. I cannot enable them back. I have an HTC One V.
Please advice.

me too, using htc one v, i can't turn it back on though have reset it to factory default both from the power button and volume down while booting, or from the storage factory data reset setting.
i contacted HTC support but they simulated my problems and still be able to turn the windows animation scale and transition scale back on after being switched off.

Tip to speed up your Moto G

Here's a little tip to help speed up your Moto G. First go to Settings-About Phone and tap Build Number 7 times. It will then say "you are now a developer". Go back to settings and you will see a new category called "Developer Options". Open that and scroll down to Window animation scale. Open it and turn off animations. Go back and do the same thing in Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale.
You will now notice that apps and other things open faster, making the Moto G even more awesome.

In effect, it does speed up the launching of apps because animations take time. Not much, granted, but still faster nonetheless. I definitely notice a split second faster launching of things. If you don't like it, don't use it.

If we turn off those animations, the dialer doesn't open when we press the Keypad icon... It opens only after we press back and open it again... So keep the animations to 0.5x and everything will be fine...

Even better, change all the animations to 0.25, I think it's the best setting, instant animation...!
But that setting is not in stock rom.
YEah this doesn't technically make the phone actually faster, but it does zeem to be a bit zippier if putting it down to .25 or .5.

Of course this will break the phone dialer keypad from opening correctly (in 4.4.3/4.4.4).
To set all settings at 1.5 makes ui more effective as it made for thats called pure android .....
Try that also for whole day you will enjoy..

Slide flickering while using "fast sliding" method

Some of my homescreen slides flickers a lot when I use the fast sliding methoc. By that I mean the method when you press the little house icon and the dots at the bottom of the screen. Anyone else experiencing this?

It's just the animations, you can enable developer options and scroll down to
Window Animation Scale
Transition Animation Scale
Animator Duration Scale
And change the values from 1x to either 0.75x or .5x or less or even off. It should solve it for you.
Thanks, but are you positive you understood what I meant? The widgets on the slide I scroll to or from, blinks/flickers. This is default behaviour, therefore I find it strange and need to ask. Will try your method though.
Yeah it'll just be the Animation on the device, the fast method is literally too fast for it and it shutters. I wouldn't worry to much.

Ok thanks man Have a nice day. Yo Yo,

Animation smoothness tip

I know most of you already know of this, and it's been posted on numerous other threads or articles, but it makes such a big difference on this device that I thought it deserves a special topic.
Activate developer options and enable "Force GPU rendering". I frequently noticed stuttering on the stock launcher and it really bothered me that a high end tablet like this would have such issues. So I thought of this old tip and enabled it. And wow, it really makes a huge difference. The launcher is butter smooth now, even with a live wallpaper. And the rest of the other animations feel much better now.
For an even more "responsive" feeling I recommend switching all the animation scales at 0.5
They are found on the same menu, developer settings.
You don't need root for this, to enable the menu just go into settings > about tablet and tap 5 times or more on "build number". The system will notify you that you have become a developer, now go back to settings and you will find "developer settings".
BTW if you change the animation scales you will need to reboot once for the full effect.
Awesome, thanks for the tip!
Quick question though, when you change the animation scales, should I also change Animator duration scale to 0.5x? Or just Window & Transition animation scale?
Lastly, does this also improve frame rates on games?

There are 3 animation scales that you can all set at 0.5
It won't improve gaming performance, it will just force 2d animations to be proccesed by the GPU instead of the CPU.

Disable race car animation after clearing all recents in Marshmallow

Does anyone know how to disable that animation?
i check all setting and don't have find this "function" (sorry for bad english ahah)
Go to Developers options and set window animation scale, transition animation scale, and animator duration scale to zero. That should do it, I guess.
It's not an animation. More like a screen that pops up and says something along the lines of "battery optimized and boosted, 200 ram released"
It is adware. Some app you installed recently is causing it. You either find out which app it is by yourself my elimination and post all the apps you installed and ask the community for suspect apps.
Also which ROM?
It's a native part of the stock ze500kl marshmallow rom.
