CRACKFLASHER's Jelly Bean Open Discussion

Hi !
The other thread is only for devs. So, i've decided to make this one, only for problems, help and other things like root ...
Enjoy.
I really liked the I/O presentation for Jelly Bean. I really am looking forward to voice recognition, or better notif drawer. But on the other hand, I'm currently using CM9 nightly, and I'm wondering if I wanna switch to 4.1 because of less settings option. What I would miss most is the quick access to power bar in notif drawer. You think there will ever be something like that in 4.1? I don't believe so.

Tablet mode is a variation on the Android workspace and features a unified notification bar and navigation bar on the bottom of the screen (see attached pic). Also, tablet mode in apps usually just means optimized for more screen real estate (i.e. multi-pane view in mail apps).
I don't know which ROM has the best benchmarks but I do know that Paranoid Android ROM is excellent for trying out tablet mode. It's super smooth and let's you choose between phone, tablet, and phablet (stock on N7) workspace. It also let's you choose between those modes for every app.
You can download Paranoid Android here.

It's a UI format. It puts the notification bar at the bottom and some other things.
Easy to test: change the DPI line in build.prop to 160 from 213. Then reboot.

it doesnt come on the cellphones either, not the galaxy nexus or nexus s with jelly bean. not with gingerbread or ice cream sandwich neither, not on any pure android experience devices. only with devices that include manufacturer skins like sense, motoblur, or touchwiz.

Many thanks for your clarifications. My experience on Android is Samsung Galaxy S2. It has very compatible features with iPhone (my previous phone before S2). I am still a new comer of Android although I have been using S2 for a year.

ah yes, so youre familiar with touchwiz. anyways, theres always an app for those functions in the market, probably a few free choices too.
I came from a Galaxy S and I definitely felt the need to have those features so here's the apps I use and they work perfectly.
For World Clock

For Stop Watch

I thought the same thing until just now. There is a stopwatch functionality in the default clock app that comes with the N7. If you swipe right in the app, it takes you to stopwatch and countdown functions.
As far as world clock though, you're right.

I tried this and don't get a stopwatch option. The default 'Clock' app just puts the time and date on the screen and has an option to set alarms. Swiping just changes the screen brightness. Perhaps that is a function of your custom rom?
If you want a world clock including the weather for the given city, then you could try this:
World Weather Clock Widget in Google Play Store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.satok.gweather&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm9yZy5zYXRvay5nd2VhdGhlciJd
I just add a 1x1 widget for every city I need the weather/time information for.

You're probably right. It may be a feature of Cyanogenmod which is what Paranoid Android is based on. Sorry about that!
On a side note, I would heartily recommend Paranoid Android, if only for the stopwatch functionality.

[Q] Nexus 10 Landscape UI on Nexus 7??

Hey all,
Now, I have done the searching, and found the thread about getting tablet UI on my Nexus 7, It looks nice and I'll probably end up using it... However, I like the way the UI is laid out on the Nexus 10...
Now, I know that the 7 will switch to landscape mode and look similar, however, I want the App Drawer and associated buttons to be across the bottom and the google search bar to be across the top like the 10, as opposed to the sides on the 7.
Now, I understand that the N10's screen is a higher resolution, but I figure if anyone has figured it out, it'd be someone here at xda.
So, my question is, has anyone figured out how to do this yet?
Are you running 4.2?
If you're running version 4.2 or over and don't mind having slightly smaller icons, I would recommend changing your DPI from 213 to 160 in /system/build.prop
Of course you will have to be rooted to do this, but this would be worth trying and should give you what you're looking for .
If you're running 4.1.2 maybe try this this method also (as I can't remember the layout when you change your DPI on 4.1.2, and you can always change it back). If not, try some launchers from the Play Store like Apex or Nova.
Hope this helps.
I'd very much like the Nexus 10 landscape on my Nexus 7 as well. Right now, the Nexus 7 landscape looks like a hack for me. It doesn't even look tablet-ish. Anxiously seeking solutions.
I tried what Fuzone suggested and it worked just fine... Needed to adjust some widgets and whatnot but other than that it's good. That is if you don't mind the smaller icons.

Nova Launcher Prime paired with paranoid rom = profit... Lower DPI with paranoid and increase rows and columns with nova if you play around with nova launcher settings you can achieve this... make launcher horizontal instead of vertical in landscape mode too in settings etc etc
please try this patch. you can have the TRUE tablet UI like Nexus 10.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28957307
your device should be rooted before flashing the patch, of course

That seems to be for 4.1.2. I don't think it'll work for 4.2+

It works also on 4.2.1

Possibly silly question. How does the N10 UI / N7 tablet patch differ from dpi switch to 160 on N7 ?
I am asking from a visual standpoint, not technical....

This worked for me on 4.2.1. Flash the proper file (odexed/deodexed) tablet UI from your favorite recovery. The launcher is messed up but Nova Launcher free clears it up. See post number 912 in the following link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780970&page=92
While you're there, grab the appropriate stock UI file because the Nexus will not OTA update with the mod installed. Also, if you're running an earlier OS, there are files like these for 4.2 and 4.1.2 earlier in the topic.
