Official Jelly Bean - Acer Iconia A500

Hi,
Just read this on this web site http://www.themobileindian.com/news/7795_Acer-to-upgrade-several-Iconia-tablet-to-Android-4.1
Can anyone confirm?

Confirm what? If it does, it does. What sort of confirmation are you looking for?

Well all I'm asking if someone else has aslo heard about this news or if it's an isolated case. I really don't know what you don't understand.
Thanks

As far as I know there hasn't been official confirmation by Acer to the public yet but yes, several "blogs" have claimed that Acer has confirmed to them that the A500 will get Jelly Bean eventually. Personally I don't see why it wouldn't unless they EOLed the A500 and even then it'd really be a burn for them not. Take it as a grain of salt until you see Acer throw something up on Facebook though....which they may or may not do since they've gotten crap every time they promised an update (and it came later than promised).

Acer South Africa replied to my email saying that the A500 will be getting Jelly Bean but they don't know when.

Wow great news, este?

It will be awesome an update to Jelly Bean for us. I love my A500 . Great new. Best Regards

And again the A501 will be left in the cold...
Why, Oh Why, did I buy the flagship product from Acer (at the time)? Maybe I should have gone for a Sammy instead...

If JB is anything like ICS 4.0.3, then no thanks.

Best part about a500 receiving JB is possibility of XDA developers like Civato getting their hands on source code and tweaking it. If you haven't tried out his ICS Stryker ROM then flash it to see true potential of a500 hardware. I've been switching between that and CM10 JB ROM which is also very stable now. JB has serious potential especially once you include a kernel from ezterry or linuxsociety.

Google FP?

Acer Australia & NZ told me today on facebook that the A500 would not be getting Jelly Bean because the processor does not support it.
A complete lie, the Motorola Xoom has the same processor and they have Jelly Bean already.
Acer are lying assholes.

LOL, no need for JB specially for A500, A200 will do as well

Same here. Already a custom ROM availbe for the nexus s so that's a good sign
I would like to see it on my Acer,Asus and EVO,but the HTC EVO is still in the gingerbread phase,so it might be a few for my phone.
those sayin they would prefer honeycomb on their tablets.
remember ICS will have source out, meaning REAL custom roms
honeycomb will never get this.
therefor ICS will be the right choice for tablets!

Has the I/O Tab 10.1 been forgotten?

Like, the title says...I wonder what will happen to the I/O tab. No updates to touchwiz, will we get 3.2? Or will it be forgotten very quickly?
I am thinking it is forgotten. Remember there were/are at most 5000 of them. A very small percentage, and more then likely a large percentage are rooted and running custom ROMs at this point anyway (mine is not because I wanted to watch Google movies on it, but that turned out to be an epic fail, but more on that in another thread).
Since we got it for free, I can't really blame them, but I can still be disappointed I guess.

Didn't they get Nexus S phones aswell? .
I don't think the 10.1 I/O versions will get touchwiz, usualy developers for android wants a pure android experience?
The GIO is a developer build - which means it is great for custom ROMs - i am running Task's 3.2 ROM on it and it smooooooth and much more responsive than before
Can someone please confirm that the I/O got 3.2 also?

3.2 update was only for Retail tabs. I/O didn't get anything till now except for the Google movies update.

Indeed, now when you say it. I'm 99% sure that I heard someone from androids dev. team saying in a interview (when the xoom was new and everything was developed) that the Xoom was the tab everyone was "keeping in mind" when coding HC.

Having both Honeycomb and ICS (with previous experience with Donut, Eclair, Froyo, and Gingerbread), I'd have to say that ICS has the best parts of all of them, a lot of the looks from Honeycomb, but with the feel that you wished Honeycomb would have had. Then shoot that full of steroids and add a slice of pie = ICS.
I'm hoping soon after ICS is released for the TF we will see a flasble stock Rom that will not remove root.then we can play with that while waiting for ICS on KRAKD
DESIRE HD using ER3BUS ASUS TRANSFORMER on KRAKD
I'm super excited for ICS, but i don't know the best method to go back to stock and keep root. I'm too antsy to wait until a custom rom is built, but i also don't want to forgeit the option of using TB to recover all my applications and game saves. What's everyone's thoughts on this?
You know that the TF is NOT going to get ICS on the 12th, the statement from Asus says the PRIME gets ICS. Asus has made no statement that I have found for a release date to the TF. IMHO it does not make good business since to relase it to the TF until the hype has gone away from the release of the PRIME and the update of ICS.

From GS3 to Galaxy Nexus back to Gs3

So I sold my GS3 for a Galaxy Nexus because I wanted to experience Jelly Bean. Well after a week I'm back and heres why.
1. Screen bigger and better
2. Camera much better
3.phone felt much snappier(although I wasn't on Jellybean)
4.volume much louder and crisp
5.GSM Nexus had no LTE and below standard HSpa+ never over 6 mbps
So if your in to specs I say the Gs3 is the place for you.
Also if buying the Nexus off craigslist make sure it's able to receive the update the one I bought was on the wrong radio and was told it would not which Is why I sold it too.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Well, not to be bashful or anything, but I figured going with the GSIII was a given. Jelly Bean may be great, but it's not going to do anything to get the GNex up to GSIII standards. And no worries, GSIII will get it's fill of Jelly Bean goodness soon enough.
I had the galaxy nexus, I want on JB, I have no regrets switching.

No it won't. Official ics only just now rolled out for some sgs2 phones. The SDK was released in October of last year.
You might get some carrier leaks (buggy asz shiz) or cm10 (less buggy) but that will probably be many months.

Look up the change log and structure between those earlier android versions then go look at jelly bean compared to ics. Believe it or not the change isn't a complete overhaul, they meant for it to be that way.
Ps. there is already a beta jellybean on the international version, and we got cm9 and aokp within the first few weeks of the phone being out, the s3 is a whole nother beast compared to the s2

I really wasn't interested, if you haven't guessed yet.
I was making a point about JB not being easily ported compared to ics or gb.
Im no dev but the majority of ICS porting applies to JB. Under the hood they are very similar. Google Now, the new voice software, and the triple buffering (kernel level stuff) are the major differences. Google now is an APK and the voice isn't requiring a lot of work either I'm sure.
If we don't have a fairly strong jb aosp in a month I would be surprised.

I think it's pretty obvious that the jump from GB to ICS is what took so long. imagine trying to get all your current apps and data and customization to work with a new OS with zero hiccups and nothing lost. ICS is so completely different from GB, I'm not surprised it took so long. The jump to JB from ICS isn't nearly as large, as some people have pointed out. I'm banking on us getting it early Q4.

CM 10 doesn't require a bunch of new drivers or official blobs from Samsung so it should be rewrite of code and implementing the apps and such. If the SGS III got AOSP ICS in weeks I'd say cm 10 might be weeks away from the point source was released. I'm not positive cause I'm not on a computer, but I think Steve Kondik (Cyanogen) has the SGS III for T-Mobile. I'm no where near a PC (just my phone til Monday)... if he is on the device as the main team member, we are looking at great nightlys and then some.

MIUI ROM

Throwing it out there as I have the time to pursue but not the hardware - anyone willing to part with a p3113?, I'd like to port over MIUI for the Tab2. If anyone is interested PM me.
For the love of Google, someone get this guy a P3113. Or donate so he can get one! I'll throw a few bones your way Tuesday/Wednesday.
Anyone else interested in MIUI for our tabs? If 25 of us just do $10, this guy, might just deliver something awesome.
Can, you provide us with a little more info on your dev skills; can you handle such a task? Also, a donate button, or paypal link would help your cause, getting donations.

Hah' thanks for the plug. In theory this would be my first full blown rom. Ive always done the testing, never the up front work. I've gotten my tab to the point where I don't even care if JB gets ported to it. Everything works, its stable, snappy, and makes no sense to mess with it.
As for my Atrix4G...that ****s taken a beating and MIUI was my choice. There where too many minor bugs and since I want a phone that works full time, I stopped messing with that and went back to Jokers latest. Searching around I can't find anything for a 3113 and MIUI. In short, if I had something else to fart around with and get it to the point where it works as well as what I'm writing you with...I'd love to share, maintain, etc. Paying for the shorties education, sports, etc comes first...hah. took the honest approach with this one.

Well the GTab 2 is relatively a new device so it takes some time for the community to grow. As for MIUI I have seen the Gingebread version and it's far more superior to stock rom in my previous x10i, so I also like to see the Gtab ICS version of it

MIUI on the Atrix was outstanding - video cam and a few other minor issues is the only thing holding me back there. I could see the potential on a gt2 esp with a kernel mod... who knows, it's just a thought! polska dobra!
Sorry man but if you want a tab 2 then buy one. They're cheap.
Miui would be cool but it wouldn't be hard for any decent developer to port. Plus with the popularity of this tablet miui will come, just a matter of time.
i hear you - hoping some decent developer forgets to work on their nexus, xoom, kindle and picks up a tab2 instead... and gets the IR to work properly
