First, what model is your device? (I have a P3113)
And thanks for the info, It never worked for me so I just flashed the OTA update.

i have p3100.but another user have confirmed working for p3113 too.

Today i just updated my galxy 3 Gt-I5801 in India Kolkata. Its an awesome experience. Its build is FROYO.DDJP2
And Baseband version I5801DDJP2
I upgraded via kies.
God Bless samsung.
My phone was rooted but stilli could update. This update unrooted my phone though.

Disadvantage the stock version of FROYO does not support live wallpapers.

will try to upload it. But try it with kies instead you can do it directly. no need to do it with odin. i waited this long for kies.
Hey does this firmware is having the battery or gps problem then only i will upgrade because my current firmware I5800XXJPM is not having any type of bugs or problem.
And BTW :When ever i try to connect my phone to kies it never connects .

I am also trying to update. Kies connected... update prompt given.. started with the update but its stuck at "preparing updating components"... i am on windows 7. can u help me out??
If anyone is trying the official firmware but already used the 2.2 version, do you see many much differences instead of the old unofficial firmware 2.2 you flashed before?
My Kies software has received an update. For those of you who use it, you can update it when you open Kies.
actually im forgotting i had kies on my pc because all this time being busy with trustworthy odin

Kies in my pc is just showing current firmware version for my phone(as well as for my tab).
It is not showing latest firmware version as it shows conventionally.
So anyone facing same and knows fix for it???
I have tried uninstalling and then re installing latest version but still no luck...
Looking for some help.

If you have rooted phone Kies does not show you firmware :3 i have the same problem but i am not using Kies for long time ;p Odin the best

Same thing with me to-i use Kies only for drivers reinstall.If i need a stock firmware i visit Doky73's treat :good:

If you have rooted then OTA or kies. Won't update as others are saying Try Odin n refer DOCKY's thread
N we all know how irritating is that to use kies

Agree.kies is the worst software i have used.like a nightmare.
If I unroot phone. What will be then? Will kies be available again?

i dont have a rooted device or obviosuly a custom ROM. Its clean. OTA says - update available but wait in line - so naturally turned to keis - and bingo it confirmed my thoughts - kies is still crap! it recognised my sgs 3 I9300 but doesnt display firmware info. I can sync etc (not that id want to) and transfer files but current firmware isn't listed!
Any ideas?
I installed Rom blisspop UNofficial on my tab 4 10.1 and I recived a message from OTA to download a new version. I did it and updated fron TWRP.
1. I wiped Cahe and Dalvik
2. Flash update
3. Flash Gapps (TK gapps Nano pack)
4. WIpes again
5. Reboot Device.
After that I still have a same version and recive again a message by OTA. DONT Update nothins
What I did wrong?

The OTA update function is partially broken. Even when you are on the latest build, which you most likely are (the one dated 8 October), it still says you need to update and tries to download that same build you are already on. So ignore the OTA notifications

I just keep an eye on the rom thread, I've never even bothered with the OTA

I've flashed ATHENE_NPJ25.93-14_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.info to my phone and everything is working fine. Now I have notification saying that i have an OTA update available to NPJ25.93-14-4
Is it safe to upgrade?
My phone is XT1641.
