[Q] Bricked Tab and need some help - Acer Iconia A500

Hello,
I was just sent this A500 today, and was given to me because it got bricked after supposedly being updated to ICS. I pulled the sd card and saw the update.zip on it, so I cleaned it out. I also tried to boot it up normally, and it hangs on the Acer logo indefinitely. Powered it down and tried to boot into recovery, and it has the stock recovery. I can get it into fastboot mode, but it wont connect to the pc for some reason. So I cant get the CPUID unless someone has a better way of getting this thing that I have yet to find. So, how can I fix this tablet?

Have you tried flashing the stock firmware via flashmode.

No sorry my bad didn't realize it was a500 but if u can find a flash able zip with stock firmware it should unbrick it.I will have a look around the a500 thread now and see if I can find something for u

OK pretty sure this is what you wanna do http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516012
Edit- sorry just re-read your OP and seen u can't get ur CPUID....oh

Yeah... Im trying to see if there is a way I can get the UID from the APX mode or something... I can get the device into APX mode via the simple reset button, and have the flash tools and everything else, just need a way to get the UID or bypass it entirely. Still thinking.

That link was quite helpful actually, and I got my info I needed. Now Im trying to recover the tablet. Ive tried to use nvflash, but get a few errors each time I use it, an error 12 or something when it tries to flash the bootloader, and it stops from there, so I have a formatted tablet, lol. What Im trying right now is the EUU back to HC, so far so good, its been going for a bit now, not sure how long it is supposed to take, but we will see. What other tips can I start looking at if this fails for whatever reason/

The euu should not take longer than 10-15 minutes.

Well, what are some other options? Ill probably leave it for another 10 minutes for the benefit of the doubt, but I have a feeling it is stuck where nvflash has been getting stuck.

I think there is something messed up on you internal sd. Download BadSetor from my dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/y3ty0l8xdzs1stl/BadSector.rar Extract it to your hdd. Get the tab in apx mode, and connect it to your pc. Run a501a.bat. When it succeeded, reboot the tab, and go in recovery. Go in "Mounts and Storage" and format System partition three!!! times. Wehen done, get tab again in apx mode, and run a501b.bat. When succeeded, your partitions on the tab are reformatted, and you have unlocked ics bootloader v8 and cwm 1.7.3 on your tab. Now, youre good to go to flash a custom ics rom.
Don't get confused by the filenames a 501a.bat and a501b.bat. It works on both a500 and a501, because they're using the same file system.

That sounds for me like a hardware issue. I think the internal sd is defective. Don`t know how i can help you further. I think you will have to send it in for repair. But maybe soeone else in the forum has still an idea.

Well,
I tried nvflash --bct flash.bct --setbct --odmdata 0x100c0105 --configfile flash.cfg --create --bl bootloader.bin --sbk 0xF0D21E00 0x6440D501 0x8B093103 0x647F2103 --go
I got to formatting the partitions before it errored out. At the moment, Im stuck with a softbrick, lol. So if anyone has any ideas, shoot em at me..

I had a couple of softbricks before. They are no problem to solve. But nvflash gives back that it can't write to the internal sd. And that sounds bad for me.

Well, everything was good (from what I hear) until the ICS update as far as everything goes. It just decided to not boot after the update. And thats where I left off.

With a different method, a slightly different one than yours, I seem to get a different error and get past the creation part.

[Solved] Bricked Tab
Well, I seem to have fixed it using a repetitive restart and nvflash until it gave in. Now im using Acer Recovery Installer, and we shall see how it goes from here.

Well, It didnt exactly work as planned, lol. Quick question as I try to refix this thing: Is there a way to work within the "download mode" instead of restarting everytime as far as formatting the partitions? Going in and out is a bit of a pain, lol

That i don`t know. Im only a user that g'bricked his tab a couplenof times and got it goin' again. Hope you'll get it working again, too.

[Q] A500 unable to run ICS??

Hey guys and gals,
I have an Iconia a500 that has been rooted since I got it last December. It has run various 3.2 and 3.2.1 HC roms, then the ICS leaks, and most recently Skrillax's V* bootloader, with Civato's Re-Flexx roms. Just yesterday, I had a random reboot, and then another, but on the second one it wouldn't get past the "loading kernel image" screen. I've tried to EEU back to Vache's 3.0.1 then flash an official rom to get it back on to the official upgrade path, and have been successful, except when going to ICS. Once the official ICS install completes, it hangs on the Acer logo, requiring another EUU. I've also tried Blacktundr's APX tool at that point to go to V8+thor recovery, then flashing an ICS rom. same result.."loading kernel image".
The tablet is fine, as long as I stick with HC roms, and the HC bootloader. It will upgrade-path sucessfully thru 3.2.1, and even run Timmydean's rooted3.2.1, then an old HC rom of my choice. Just NO ICS .
Ideas? Maybe a partition error?
I believe there is a .zip or .rar file called Babsector with 2 .bat files in it that will help me if anyone has them?
ok so i found the babsector files, tried them.. Now i still cannot flash the bootloader with the APX tool.. tab runs fine with timmydean's rooted 3.2.1, but fails to OTA to ICS even. Ideas?

where does it fail on the bl flash, what error do u get?
failing to ota to ics from HC - go to thread how to revert to stock the easy way by jdgM3NT4L - there's a non-US update.zip i posted that worked for me. but until we figure out why u u can't flash the bl, you're stuck with stock.

Thanks for responding! it is good to hear from a voice of experience on the subject. I will copy/paste my results of various tries asap. I was able to flash the V8 bootloader a couple days ago. But since then i've tried a few methods to get to ics.. Including the Babsector .bats, maunually trying timmydean's and vache's EUUs, all fail at formatting BCT. The APX tools hang at uploading image(bootloader). I'm thinking i may have to do the Rawread technique to map out bad sectors, and place an FCK partition where they reside.... BUT i've not found exact instructions on how to get that to work yet. so for it seems to just hang, but iim sure i'm doing the rawread command wrong. win7x64 by the way.
I have of course uninstalled/ reinstalled and tried both driver versions out there also.
Any tips are greatly appreciated.
Here is a try with babsector's first .bat:

Well.. this is definitely uncool.. I made a .bat that loads the bootloader from any upgrade package and runs the flash.cfg from it.. I've tried timmydean's V4, vache's 3.0.1, the babsector cfg's, and even the CES picasso version with it's huge bootloader. ALL are a no-go. My only chance seems to be to map out bad sectors with the Rawread command and try to put a dummy partition on top of them.. IF said partition doesn't fail on format.
Can someone explain the process on how to figure out what sectors are bad with the rawread comand?
I did get an error 12 a couple times before it even tried formatting on a few of my over 50 attempts.
Also.. if i am really screwed here.. anyone know of any broken a500's around that I may be able to buy a motherboard from?
Thanks everyone for your help so far. Without the countless threads I have gone through to learn what I have, I would still be sitting here scratching my head even more lol.
I'm not much help sorry, i guess you've read what there is regarding this.
there is a few posts from user 'yaworski' who managed to fix this in one of the old bootloader threads, thats all i can offer at this point. you might wanna pm him? or maybe blackthund3r or eppeP. wish u all the luck in getting fixed.

Actually you have been a great help, as you have been a large part of many of the threads I have read on the subject
I see this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27456113&postcount=22... but I did not succeed in finding where they actually went through the process.
I've tried running the rawdeviceread command to find the bad sector/s, but I think i am loading the RAM bootloader(Timmydean's) wrong. I have been using the a501 A.bat to load the bootloader, then killing it where it waits for the bootloader to initilize. From there I open another command prompt window, but nvflash hangs at every command. I'm not very well versed in Nvflash, as I only know what I have seen here and at Tegraowners.
Can someone tell me how to load the bootloader without having it execute any commands? That way I can run the rawdeviceread command and maybe figure out how to go from there. I also need to know if there is a way to create a partition without formatting it(I think that is automatic?). That way I can create the dummy FCK partition over the bad sector/s and skip it so the others can create/format successfully.
Re: [INFO/DEV] A500 ICS Bootloader (plus unlocked patched version)
oops just annihilated my post...and links to couple early bootloader threads, useful info really bct error....
apxflash tool allows you to dump your bct so you can nvflash - as long as your tab enters download mode and the apx usb device is showing up, go ahead and flash it -
Theres lots of info in some of the older bootloader threads http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514951)??? well worth a read
sp3dev said:
I have uploaded the archive with nvflash and some instructions on using it with A500. This is only intended for hardcore geeks who know how ARM boots. Be careful - while you can't really brick tegra2 (since it has a minimal usb-capable bootloader in the OTP area), you can screw up things and it will be quite hard to force the tablet to boot in some cases due to stupid security checks.
You can use this to download any bootloader/recovery/linux you want. That will help us with porting uboot. Someone may even write an automated tool for reflashing bootloaders and unbricking tablets..
http://www.mediafire.com/?pp97x9aahs58hzp
Let me just copy-paste the README from the archive here.
1. First, generate your sbk with http://vache-android.com/v1/index.php?site=sbk
2. Then, get a hold of mmcblk0 start sectors (at least 4KB) and copy it to mmcblk0_start
3. run the ./rip_bct.sh script and supply it with your SBK to rip BCT (boot config table. contains ram timings among other things)
4. run ./download.sh to connect nvflash to iconia (do it in APX mode). Note that you also need to supply your SBK here, but not as a long single number, but as it is displayed on the website
5. You can now play with nvflash - for example, read partitions, partition table and write your own flash_ic.cfg with partition layout
6. If you flash linux/recovery, make sure to update the magic values (like itsmagic does).
To do it, first download the 12th partition (AKB)
then, in the akb.bin, at address 0x84, replace 4 16-byte entries with the same pattern
"00 FB 30 94 99 01 4F 97 2E 4C 2B A5 18 6B DD 06"
ok, you need to patch the file once and can use it in further flashing. Just upload it to the device (like sign.sh does)
POTENTIAL PITFALLS. Listen up, I ain't gonna help you if you eff up here.
1. You must use BCT from your device Otherwise, the bootloader will not boot.
You will still be able to use NVFLASH, but until you dump your own BCT and use it
with NVFLASH, the device will not be booting again
2. If you use the ./iconia_boot.bin that differs from the bootloader on your
device, the device will get stuck in the APX mode after a reboot. If you do it,
flash the new ./iconia_boot.bin to the device (to the partition 4).

Sounds like you are stuck in APX mode. A little reading will straighten things out.
badly needed help
could someone give some links to fix this problem i dont have my cpu id and sbk, EUU stop working in my laptop, apx tools are not working could someone help me im badly needed some help w/ this matter tnx for thos who help me
I have the exact same issue.
Power button turns white - screen is black - no vibration from power button - seems dead.
The tablet was untouched and stock - I have never rooted anything or messed with any ROMs.
It had updated to ICS a while back and was working great until yesterday when it just wouldn't turn on besides the power button.
I have tried holding down the volume up and power button reset. I have tried the reset button. I have tried unhooking the battery.
After checking this forum I have installed the ACER drivers and plugged the tablet into my PC. It is showing up as APX.
I believe I am stuck in APX mode so from what I'm reading there is hope I can somehow salvage the tablet even though I didn't try flashing
anything and haven't screwed with it before.
Since I have never messed with flashing android stuff I really have no idea where to start as the guides seem to be for people who have experience. Where do I start? From what I'm reading I'll need a CPUID but how do I get that from a "dead" machine.
I am a quick learner if someone has the time to point in the right direction. Maybe I'll get hooked on flashing ROMs and can contribute something here.
Thanks for any help you can give.
If yr tab is stuck in apx mode, you're gonna need yr cpuid to recover it, there is no other way....see cpuid guide in my SIG and checkout srbeens method using Linux to retrieve it or usbdeview....
If getting stuck happened spontaneously it points to the faulty chip issue requiring replacement from Acer... check post #3 of the root guide in my SIG for ways to recover from apex mode, you might get lucky but be aware that if its happened once it will happen again...
EDIT see this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37421071 regarding new motherboards on eBay

Thank you for the info. I was able to get my cpuid and sbk last night following the guide that used Ubuntu live cd. It was fun to play with Linux again.
I want to try and recover and if it continues to be a problem I will replace the board.
Looking at post 3 from your guide it appears my next step will be to use nvflash.
I am a little lost on what I will be flashing since I don't have anything backed up (flash a recovery?) and don't have a custom ROM to flash.

I just a need a push in the right direction.
Thanks for the help.

Well done getting yr cpuid!!
If you want stock, your best bet is an Acer EUU. There's one in the guide which will take u back to HC 3.0.1. Blackthund3r has one in his acer OTA update thread too I think in dev forum....
Next step is getting out of apx mode...use lcd047's method in the cpuid guide....just use the image folder from your EUU ...and no need to do the boot loader part....Also use Linux again to run nvflash commands, no driver issues with that, unlike windows....
See how u go with that for a start. You should be able to OTA all the way to ICS with that EUU, if u want.

Well we are getting somewhere but I hit a snag.
After running nvflash command the tablet instantly vibrated and I now have the ACER logo on the screen and the words Entering Acer Download Mode in the corner. I'm not sure if the command ran correctly as there was an error at the end in regards to partitions

OK bad data and partition error too...
Which EUU did u end up using?
tdv4 is known to reset partitions but in some instances fails. The babsector.rar file can be more successful... link in the root guide with some instructions how to use.
You're gonna need a ROM to flash and At this stage I'd suggest a custom ICS one...
babsector will/should also flash up the skrilax_cz v8 unlocked bootloader.
If u get still get a bad data error then yr tab is toast...BUT keep trying it 8, 10, 15 times you may get lucky
PS:
Oh check the euu image folder for the .bat file and see if the odm data values match with what u are using manually.
There are 2 values used in different euu's and no-one as ever explained why this is....the one u used and this one 0x300d8011
To leave download/apx mode the windows command is nvflash -r --go
See vaches post bottom of post 3 in root guide, for more nvflash commands. You might just get lucky
good luck!!

I used this EUU
Official Acer EUU 3.0.1
WHOA!! Something happened overnight. When I went to bed last night I was stuck in APX.
I was going to try a new EUU or babsector like you suggested. As I was getting ready to do that I powered on the tablet. It vibrated and the ACER logo came up on the screen. First time it has done that since I started trying to fix it. It does not say it is download mode like it did before.
Looking at the guide there is a section that says
Use this update.zip for any of the following:
- You do not have your cpuid
- You are stuck on the "Acer" Logo
- Your tab boots past the Acer Logo but then boot loops at the boot animation
- You are on the old HC bootloader /ICS Rom combination
- You wish to return to factory stock, and OTA all the way to Stock ICS
Should I be trying that now?

Someone else posted ebay have new m/b's listed for $50, you may want to look into that??
Couple of things to note though:
maybe just a copy/paste error but
you wrote: [email protected]:~/Desktop/root-3.2.1/Image$ sudo ./nvflash --bt --odmdata 0x100c0105
should be nvflash --bct flash.bct --setbct --configfile flash.cfg --create --odmdata 0xb00d8011 --bl bootloader.bin --go
the BCT error - if you d/l apxflash tool and run it....you MUST dump, save then use your tabs BCT when u get to the "bct window" - carry on with the tool and then put your tab in apx mode manually - just before the flash you'll see a window with a couple of check boxes "show nvflash commands'" check that to show any flash errors....flash it and see what happens
failure to write to mass storage - just another symptom of the "bad sector fault"
you might try a factory hard reset via rotation switch - this should wipe all userdata and cache and has been known to fix a few problems
With all the tools and some persistence (otherwise known as banging one's head against a brick wall. lol) something may end up working....thats all I can offer you at the moment...others who have been in this same situation will post something like you did...whoa all of a sudden it worked!!!! Be aware though it will happen again sometime in the future unfortunately...as I said before, your best bet is gonna be ebay
Well I tried for a few more hours to get something flashed and finally gave up and ordered a new board. Since this thing bricked itself without me ever screwing around with the file system I've got to believe it's a hardware issue. Hopefully the new board will last longer than 14 months like this one. Thanks for the tips on trying to revive it. After installing the new board I might get into some of this custom ROM stuff. What do you suggest for a ROM?
a500 USB DRIVER VANISHES
I need a little help my device is stuck in apx mode (blank screen with power led on) i have uid (cpuid) and sbk i have read a lot fom this forum and have all the tool to root, flash, load.. But my main problem is that when i reset my acer a500 and the usb is attached the windows 7 recognizes the driver and (sound pops up) and the driver (acer picasso usb boot recovery driver) is there but no tool e.g apxtool or fastflash or ics rooting nothing works or regocznies the device coz when i press any option or press the key to continue the drive drops and vanishes from the window usb list in device manager and i have to manually reset acer again to get the driver back but still no use as command prompt tells me that no device is attached or found. Please help as this acer is my wifes gift to me and im trying hard to get it back its totally dead

[HELP] Stuck Booting Primary Kernel Image...

Hey guys,
Well as the title has described, I'm stuck booting the primary kernel image after my A500 decided to stop booting properly after it froze. I've tried all the usual recovery methods, such as reflashing the kernel, reflashing the rom, both resulted in reluctance to mount certain partitions. I then tried reflashing the recovery to see if it would correct the issues, it did not. So i moved to NVFlash (BlackThunders tool and AfterOTA) to see if it will fix it. But it didn't. My last and most recent resort was Vache's bad sector repair, which allowed to me to finally fix the recovery mounting problems, and it even allowed me to flash the ROM and a kernel, but upon reboot, I'm stuck at booting primary kernel image . Should I return to stock by running the update.zip? Or am I missing something?
EDIT: Finding out from other posts my partition table is royally messed up. Gonna try a couple fixes
When you get this error it means (basically) you have no rom on yr tab . normally
re flashing yr rom is the solution.
You didn't say what you were on before this happened. But I'd be a bit worried if your
tab quit on u for 'no reason at all'.....
The other thing to keep in mind is that our tab likes things to be done in a specific
order....so follow any of the guides to the letter.
Use babsector or tdv4 to repartition - flash a rom directly after using babsector, tdv4 will
take u back to HC 3.2 automatically.
If u can boot then factory data reset from within settings.
Or use cwm to do it and enable wipe for /data/media - after you've done a nandroid
If u get any nvflash errors please post them and good luck!!.

Adding a little more definition to the issue, I was using Firefox on Civato's Re-Flexx rom, the one updated March 13th, 2013, on EzTerry's kernel, when the device froze. I reset it by holding down the power button, and waited for it to reboot, it hanged at the the boot logo. So i went into recovery to reflash the ROM, and it gave me a long list of errors telling me that it couldn't mount, System, Data partitions, etc. So I thought it might be the recovery is buggy, so i reflashed it through fastboot, thought that did the trick, and roms managed to flash. Tried rebooting again. The bootloader gave me the LNX kernel error. So I went back again and tried reflashing the kernel, then the rom again, then both, and it would still continue to be stuck at the booting primary kernel image. So i tried to roll back to Acer stock by flashing update zip through recovery, and now I'm stuck booting only to APX mode, and bad sector isn't fixing anything.
Seems to me as a hardware issue...better visit the acer service.

Whenever this turns up the news is not good - in saying that tho', there have been a couple of folks who have recovered from this fault, by creating a dummy partition that bypasses the bad sectors-it doesnt work in all cases, and if its happened once, it will most definitely do so again. Most users have returned their tabs to acer to replace the memory chip IF there tab was still under warranty....Some have managed to score a replacement m/b off ebay for 50.00$ and the rest have sold off parts (screens especially)
Have a read thru this (if you havent already) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952368 theres some extra links in the thread that may be worth something.....
However onto your other issue: stuck in apx mode....
Getting out of APX Mode quoted from this post here
If worse comes to worse and you are definitely stuck in APX Mode then download the archived file nvFlash.zip which will only flash the v2 unlocked bootloader - to flash a recovery image you'll need to download one and copy it to the nvflash folder.
1) extract "nvFlash" to C:\nvflash
2) pwr your tab OFF and ensure the Pwr LED lite is off
3) Manually put your tab in APX Mode
4) Connect your micro usb cable to your PC
5) Ensure your PC lists an "apx device"
6) Open a command prompt on C:\nvflash
7) Follow the steps below from vache:

Of course, change MYSBK with yours.
Next, flash the bootloader :
Code:
nvflash -r --format_partition 4
nvflash -r --download 4 bootloader.bin
If you want to flash a recovery :
Code:
nvflash -r --format_partition 6
nvflash -r --download 6 myrecovery.img
or a new boot
Code:
nvflash -r --format_partition 7
nvflash -r --download 6 myboot.img

then boot to recovery and try flashing a different rom...
Remember theres ALOT of difference between the HC and ICS stock kernels
in that you cannot flash and HC kernel to an ICS rom and vice versa - then on top of all that we have the unlocked bootloader.....which will only work with specific recoveries.....your LNX error is not a "recovery issue"
there were alot of kernels, bootloaders etc floating round for a time, so it actually was possible to run an ICS rom with an HC bootloader....I know mate its all very confusing, to say the least....Thats why I asked what rom you were on (not which one you're trying to flash) but this could be a moot point now becoz of the nvflash partition error.
To get out of apx, try running nvflash -r --go command -once thats done
boot to fastboot and wipe /userdata and /cache - see if you still get those mount errors...if not, boot to recovery and try flashing civatos stock rooted ICS
Failing that - check ebay
Your situation isn't good, but you have here all the info thats available on the subject...I wish you all the luck in getting it resolved......
rgds dibb
You guys are the best. I found a 16 gb board that'll be not only a storage upgrade, but will be brand new too, for around 50. So I'll just do that. I've replaced the digitizer before so this should be a cake walk. And of course my tablet goes out as soon as SmartGlass is available for 7in and up tabs.....
Edit: so I tried the previous steps, and nvflash hangs when trying to format partitions, if I try to push and flash the bootloader, it gives me a bad hardware/bad sector error again. Oh well.

[Q] Going Nuts!!!

Okay so this thing is driving me nuts! I have the A500 and it is stuck in APX mode. A buddy gave me this saying it was bricked. I would love to get it up and going! I have been from forum to forum and going nuts here. I really though I was going to be able to get it with the timmydean tool. But when I enter my cpuID its one number too long. CPU ID: 0x37C6205446015D7. I got this number from doing some trick on ubutnu. I have my SKB as well. Can anyone help me out. I don't know much at all about tablets and flashing roms on them. I used to have a Windows Mobile phone back in the day and did a great deal of making kitchens for it but this seems like a lot more steps. Is there a trick with the cupid on timmydeans tool? Thank you in advance!

alright I believe what happened is my friend had ICS, but while updating something happened and that's when he said it was bricked. So when I was reading some of the many millions of forums I saw some talked about using Timmy deans tool to go back to stock HC and start over. So that's what I was trying to do.

okidoki! got it
For timmys tool to work you need USB debuggign enabled on your tab, so if you cannot boot to ensure that this is enabled, you need to try another tool!!!
the babsector.rar works when tdv4 won't...it will reset the partitions on your tab, flash the unlocked bootloader and cwm. If there is an error please post the output....You will also need to flash an ICS or JB rom

How to use babsector -
Turn your tab off and put it in apx mode manually. Press and hold reset button, hold power for 3 secs after the light comes on and release it, after another second release the reset button. Your screen is black and the power light is on.
On your PC:
Download and extract the .rar to a folder on your PC
Connect your tab to your PC
Navigate to the babsector folder and click on 501 A.bat
On your tab:
Reboot into recovery power/volume DOWN - (closest end to the power button)
Go to Mounts and Storage Menu and
Format - System, Data, Flexrom, Cache
Then flash your ICS/JB rom, power off.
Go back into apx mode and run 501 B.bat
Reboot into recovery and do the wipes
Reboot!!!

okay, thanks so much, I will try this tomorrow morning and post the results. Is there a full working jelly bean rom for the a500 now? I know I saw some things were not working like WiFi or cameras... Those were older post though. Can you point me to where I can get a good ICs or jelly bean rom?

NOOOOooooooooo lol Well, glad I asked before continuing to go crazy with it... I have seen motherboards that are pretty cheap for it... LIke 50-60.00. If I change it out would that work? Well assuming that the board I buy is good and everything. I would like a tablet with GPS but really don't want to spend a couple hundred bucks on a new one at that time. Thank you for all the help you gave me

Another bricked a500...

Apologies for yet another thread. I've been through every "unbrick" thread and still not able to boot the tab. I'm starting to think it's time to recycle the thing.
So, I picked up my tab one day and it had powered off (bone stock on the latest OTA). Tried to boot up and never got past the Acer splash screen (multiple attempts). Tried to reflash via the sd card, and it failed. Now it only boots to the dead Android. Try to flash another rom (these are stock releases) and it hangs for over a day without completing. Now it won't get past apx mos, black screen with a power light. Tried to flash via nvflash using several automated methods, they all fail complaining of various errors that seem to be related to bad partitions. I run badblocks and get errors. Now, having gone through everything short, I go to euu. That also hangs on copying the image. I'm out of ideas. is there something I haven't tried, or am I likely dealing with s dead tab at this point?
Pretty much the same thing happened to me last night I stayed up all morning trying to fix it but I'm beginning to realize it's probably something in the hardware.. Odd there so many all about the same kind of time.. Mine was rooted and the only thing I can boot to is the first skrillax boot loader screen, or Acer screen..depending on what I did..guess its Tims for a new tab..any suggestions? Lol

I guess we can take the guts out and make them into picture frames?
I did the fix my Acer thing from the Acer website found out mine is out of warranty for sure but they got back to me with an email and a phone number and I called and talked to a girl who told me it would be 200 and $49 just to get it in the door for a repair. Needless to say I *****ed and moaned told her I was going to throw it in the garbage and she is now sending me a label for FedEx to ship it and they will look at it hopefully they will fix it possibly for free now lol so I'm going to be sending it off when I get the label. I've tried just about everything and it seems mine just isn't recognized very well by the PC. I wonder if I have the correct drivers

This is what I'd do, and this goes for anyone stuck on the acer logo or otherwise soft-bricked.
Run babsector.rar file.
This is the ONLY file that will give you an error that can be troubleshooted. NONE of the auto tools or the manual nvflash method will do this.
Once babsector has run, post the output and we can tell if its the dreaded hardware fault or not.
Download and instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2049778
A great guide by kaijikun here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450119
If you get stuck with the black screen with the power led light ON.
Hold the power button for 5 secs until it goes off.
Re-enter apx mode manually (i.e. this means using the buttons, don't use the auto tools, it won't work)
It also goes without saying, you need the acer drivers http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=3851 and the drivers from the android sdk, you can download a mini zip here https://www.dropbox.com/s/x98233x397wrzr1/Step_1_Drivers_mini_sdk_adb.zip
If you don't have your CPUID, there's no way of unbricking.
If you don't know what a CPUID is AND can still boot, read this guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25429111#post25429111.
If you cannot boot and don't have your CPUID you need to recover it using Linux, see srbeens guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751978
Just to say, the whole unbricking process takes some time....mostly downloading everything you need. You will also need a fully charged tab, you can sometimes use 40-50% of your battery doing this. To be safe connect your charger and leave it there till you are done.
The other thing is your PC OS...there has been mixed success with win8 and 64bit. FOr best results win7, vista and xp work best. If you are linux savvy, you're in luck, no driver issues at all with this OS!!!
The only way you can not restore your tab to fully working order is if your tab has the faulty memory chip. And the only way to know if this is the case is to run the babsector.rar file.

Yeah same thing happened to my A500. But downloaded 4 files Because there was 4 to choose from.
I renamed the file, eg filename.zip, to "update" with no extension. Copied to a clean micro SD. Inserted the SD card. Held the volume down and power switch until tablet vibrated and toggled the screen lock switch on then off. Then sat and watched. The whole process can take 30 minutes and for a long time it seemed stuck at about 25%. I decided to wait and see. And it all came good.
My A500 was stock no root. Still is and seems to work better now.

Same thing happened to mine
Exact same thing happened to mine. No recourse since mine was out of warranty but I complained about it on an Acer Forum and on their facebook page and within a couple of hours I was contacted and instructed to mail it in. I had to pay for the shipping charges there (like 12 bucks) but they shipped it back on their dime and it was fixed. From shipping to them to getting it back was about 2 weeks. I was ready to swear off Acer forever but they manned up and fixed something that was obviously a widely known defect since it's happening to many others.

Sorry u both having probs an I not sure I can help but.....
@SyavsoN so do u get an error with the first bat file? If not,
run the first one again
Enter recovery and do the wipes
Reboot recovery and flash yr rom
What happens???
@mheister and everyone else with bct error.
Apxflash tool is the only tool that can fix these errors.
Normally u can use the default bct when u get to that option. But if u have probs with the default then u must use the bct from yr tab. So choose the dump yr bct option.
Thats about all I can suggest for u guys atm,
If @blackthund3r is still lurking around here he may be able to help out with this!!
