Android Game - Asphalt 7: Heat 99¢ - Member-Found Deals

Before you buy it, please read my review of it in the second post.
Asphalt 7: Heat was just released in the Google Play Store at the low price of 99¢. Compare this price to most other Gameloft games, which are around $7 each. This is a great price for a brand new game.

The file size for this game is 1.36GB. Please make sure you have the space for it before buying!
Thanks for the heads up from Product Fred.
EDIT: I downloaded it to my SGS2 and had issues getting any car to steer properly. Might just be me, though. It does not work on my Acer A500 running JellyBean (CM10). It will work right up to the pre-race fmv, then it crashes when the announcer begins to count down. I'm hoping it's just initial launch bugs that will be sorted out soon. Just as a side note, Asphalt 6 runs perfectly fine on both of these devices.

Ok, I got the game to play properly on a review device I've got on my desk and figured out why it's so cheap: in game purchases.
You play through the game, unlock a car, but then you still have to buy it. Yea, you only unlock the ability to buy the car with in game money. If you don't have enough money to buy the new car, don't worry, because they'll sell you in-game money.
The other thing I don't like is that you get spammed to share your progress on every social network on the planet after EVERY SINGLE RACE. Yea..... I'm no fan of Facebook, and sporadically use G+ and Twitter, so why not give the option to turn off the ads?
The other thing is that you can't play it offline. The game FC's if you try to load it up without a data connection of some sort. Load it up, then turn off WiFi, you might say. Nope. As soon as you do that, it FC's again. No offline mode at all.
The device optimization seems to be very bad right now in this version. I've requested a refund of the game. It's not worth it. Sorry for even posting this. Let it be a warning instead of a deal.

Since the game will probably not download and install in enough time for anyone to request a refund the old fashioned way, with Google's crappy 15 minute window, here's how to do it the hard way.
In order to request a refund, go to your Google Play account summary page, then click on the Report a Problem link next to Asphalt. In the drop down box, select request a refund.
Enter your description of the reason you feel you are entitled to a refund. The download and installation of the game taking longer than the 15 minute return window should be more than enough to get it back. Here's my message below:
The game download is so big, that just downloading it takes more than the 15 minute refund window. After waiting for it to download, I installed it on two different devices. Both newer devices with reasonable specs: a Samsung Galaxy S 2 and an Acer A500. Neither device was able to run the game properly. The game was extremely laggy, looked nothing like the description, even factoring in for my devices not being top of the line. The SGS2 can't even seem to steer the car at all. The game force closes every time the data/WiFi connection drops as well. I also don't like that it spams me to publish my race results after EVERY single race.
Ultimately, I would have requested a refund if it would have been possible to download, install, and play it in the 15 minute return window. The game isn't playable as described. Google should really rethink this short 15 minute return policy. 60 minutes would be MUCH more agreeable for most people.

Still worth it for 99 cents.

Phew I was about to go and by this game

You wanna know why this game is only 99 cents? You thought Dead Trigger was ruined by IAP? This game is BUILT on them. You don't need them to play but you're constantly bombarded with them. You don't buy cars with in-game currency, YOU RENT THEM.That and every time you finish a race you have to hit NO THANKS 3 times to advance because it begs you to log in and share with friends. And then performance issues. I have a Galaxy S3 i9300. This thing lags like crazy, on a quad-core phone. I'm taking maybe 20 FPS. Any race where it's only my car (like a Time-Attack), it runs beautifully. This game is buggy and I can't recommend it as it is. I hope they make it less intrusive because you literally have to go through 10 menus just to start a race. It's so bad there are loading screens BETWEEN MENUS. Also worth mentioning is the game does not start if you're offline (e.g. In the subway). It prompts you to connect to data. You can't even start the game to fire up single player.

My Asphalt 6 I bought time ago doesn't start without licence check via Internet. So it's hard to play in underground or train, and these are the only places where I have a time to play.
I hoped Asphalt 7 will be better... so naive

It does work without a license check, but after a while it will re-check using a data connection (6, not 7).

uhh, yes you can buy cars with in game currency. you need to earn enough stars to unlock them before you can purchase them with in game currency. the renting option is for those who want to 'rent' a higher spec'd car to win races more easily. its not necessary since ive been able to win every race without renting a single car.
not sure what you mean by bombarded with in app purchases. the in app purchases are tucked off to the side for when you want to buy more money or stars. theyre not really intrusive at all. you dont need the in app purchases to unlock all cars or to even get to the last race, it just has a standard unlocking system like almost every other racing game out there (android, iOS, pc, or even ps3/xbox360). and the in game currency comes pretty easily without having to spend any actual money. i just played for 2 hours and i've already got over 1 million in game currency. the only thing the IAP does is give you a headstart. nothing more than that since the races are locked to specific tier cars, so spending actual cash to buy a mclaren f1 doesnt mean you'll win every race since the mclaren is only allowed in races of that tier.
the sharing option has a loophole, on mine, i set it so it doesnt actually post on my facebook. so i can hit share and reap the benefits without a massive spam of posts on my wall.
you dont need to go through ten menus to start a race, and i havent even noticed any loading screens in between menus.
the only things youve stated that i agree with are that the game lags badly and that the game requires an online connection (which sucks for my google nexus 7).

World of Warcraft on Windows mobile!

This is the best game of all time now playing on windows mobile 6.1!
Unfortunately this is somewhat too good to be true. You can't use any function in the game that requires you to right click! This means you can't do some of the games most important functions like farm for herbs, minerals, etc, access the Auction House or the Bank, ride the gryphons for faster travel and every other function that requires you to right click. Also, the gameplay is slow on the phone where as it plays just fine on my computer.
You can do everything else in the game though. The ability to play this game is obviously only useful if you are traveling or out of your house somewhere and you want to grind to level up your character or talk to your online friends.
If you want to see a video of this in action just go to youtube and use the search engine there and you should find it.
Instructions coming soon!
I will be posting instructions soon on how I made this possible.
I want all the warcraft fans out there who enjoy playing this game to also be able to play this game on their windows mobile powered devices.
I also wanted to include the links to my youtube videos so you could see this in action. I tried finding the videos myself on youtube and could only pull one of them up in the search results.
Here is the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bw73oDGdbkc
Part 2 of this video on youtube is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ax0snZbCs2k
Note on video quality from youtube video
I also wanted to note that I realize the gameplay on my phone looks blurry for some reason on this video. The actual gameplay on my phone was not blurry so it must have come out like this due to my camera that I used. I didn't want all the viewers out there who watch this to think that when you play the game on your phone that it will be blurry because this is not the case!
is the secret trick called rdp, vnc, or remote touch?
lol. the secret is simply using a remote desktop application. You can clearly see that from the first 1minute of the video.
You can play ANY game if you do it like that. XD More impressive if you actually used the processing power of your portable device to run the game instead of to run a remote desktop application.
laaaammmme....ha, you have the same monitor as me (i think )

Indeed you are correct!
I knew it wouldn't be long until somebody from this website community figured out how I did this. I used remote touch to make this possible. For those of you out there who are not familiar with the website for this program it is as follows.

You are right this would have been more impressive if I had been able to do that but at this time in our world cellphones don't have the power to process that kind of data. I still think it was a good idea to post this information to show everybody that that game still can be played remotely through your desktop computer for travelers or people who are bored and have the free time to play the game when they are out of the house. I think it is better than not having the ability at all.
With some of the newer phones coming out to the market soon this will change and we will be able to launch the game and play it without using a remote desktop application. I estimate that within a year or two at the most there will be phones out there on the market that will be able to handle a game like world of warcraft.
Only can i say: LOL
Excellent! I don't think any network will provide enough allowance for month for remote desktop connections. It's still imaginative nonetheless. I wonder if it could run faster, however.
Never played WoW here, but I assume other games would work too. Just the speed lacking.

I had an unlimited plan earlier with turbo3g which I together with my phone earlier as a modem for my computer when i was out at the countryside. So that really shouldn't be a problem..

I have an unlimited plan on my phone so this shouldn't be a problem for me.
I realize that phone carriers offer their subscribers these unlimited data plans and they assume that the average subscriber will never surpass a secret amount of data allowance each month and the carriers are correct.
If these power users go over this secret data allowance the carrier will contact the subscriber and notify the subscriber that they must cut down on this unusually large data consumption or lose the unlimited data plan. I will have to test this theory out and play world of warcraft on my phone for one billing month and see if I surpass my carrier's secret data allowance and if I don't then we will know that this problem you have brought forth will not be a problem.
As to the issue of the game running faster, I agree this would be more enjoyable if the game ran faster. As I have already stated even though the image quality looks blurry in my video from youtube, I assure everybody the image quality is good. The game looks wonderful on my phone visually, not quite as clear as it would on a desktop or laptop computer but it still looks sharp and is exciting to see this on a phone.
The remote desktop application that I used to make this possible does have two settings, one for speed and one for quality. The speed setting does actually play the game faster which is good, but as a result distorts and loses some of the image quality to achieve this ability. The quality setting setting plays the game slower but makes the gameplay look cleaner and more attractive. I personally prefer to play the game on the speed setting and lose some of the beauty of the game's graphics so I can enjoy a faster gameplay.
The game does play faster on a stronger broadband connection like when I switch on wifi and the graphics on the game also look better along with the speed boost. So, the only way to fix the slow speed issue is to either wait until a phone comes out on the market that can play the game by itself without the remote desktop application or somehow play the game on a phone with an even faster broadband connection.
My estimates are that the LTE or Wimax enabled phones in the future will have the broadband strength to play this game wonderfully with no speed or image quality issues!!
Interesting video, although I do not play WoW, but if I did, I'd consider it if I were waiting at the dentists or walking to another class.

In that case, wouldn't it be easier to port Vista or Windows 7, then play WoW? Or is it not possible to play PC games on the touch version of those OS's?

I actually tried this with "logmein" and another remote app, but the wow screen was just black on my phone...so at least you got it working with this remote app...thanks for the tip
World of Warcraft now with Improved gameplay speed and FULL Functionality!!
This is a much improved version of the game this time with all my program, apps, utilities, etc. turned off on my phone. I'm running this game on a HTC Diamond so I especially need to note that TouchFlo 3D is turned off. I am running this game by using a program called Remote Touch and I have my phone connected to a wifi spot with a good signal.
This game is able to play on my Diamond for two reasons: The increased strength of my wifi connection and the fact that I have everything else turned off on the phone to preserve my phone's Program memory.
In case you are wondering, my phone has just under 156mb of Program memory available to run this game this smoothly and without too much lag and with a good wifi connection. I'm noting this in case anybody here wants to try playing this game on their phone and this is a good ballpark figure of memory the phone needs to have to play this with faster, smoother gameplay. This game can run on the Evdo connection speed however, the game plays slower and is not as enjoyable.
I also want to note that the game could look even sharper and more visually beautiful with better graphics because the Remote Touch application has two settings, one for a faster speed connection and one for a slower connection but with a better visual experience. I have posted seven new youtube videos that showcase all the games major vital functions every average player would want to have if they were to play this game on their phone and have included the links below for all who still care and have an interest with playing this game on their phone to check out.
These videos are using the faster but less attractive connection option. I also want to make sure everybody that sees these videos knows that I realize the screen is tiny and its almost impossible to press all your different attack moves, etc. on your action bars. The Remote Touch application has the ability to zoom in and out into any section of the screen that you want if you need to see your action keys better or more importantly to read the text from your online friends or the battle stats that get displayed and my videos show this.
One last thing I will note here is I originally was unable to do anything in the game that required a right click of the mouse such as mining, accessing the Auction House or Bank and etc. I recently discovered that if you hold the phone's stylus over whatever item, character, etc in the game that requires a right click for a few seconds without moving the stylus that acts as a right click. So now you can do everything in the game you would normally be able to do on your desktop or laptop computer!!

N.O.V.A HD. – Next Generation Gaming with the Galaxy Tab

I've done a mini review of the amazing shoot em up style game NOVA on the Galaxy Tab. Copied the text of the Blog Post below, FULL post and youtube Vid can be found here: "bilal-mobiler.blogspot.com"
I'm a new user so I can't post up links in posts! Otherwise would have put it all here..!
-----
N.O.V.A HD. – Next Generation Gaming with the Samsung Galaxy Tab
The 20 man (and-women!)-strong team of Samsung Mob!ler’s have each been gifted a Samsung Galaxy Tab and we’ve been putting it through its paces over the past week or so. Our first task has been to check out the gaming potential that the Galaxy Tab has to offer, and I’ve focused this post on N.O.V.A. - the outstanding 1st-person shoot ‘em up style game from Gameloft.
I must say from the outset that I framed the Galaxy Tab as a mini-computer/multi-media/internet/email/phone sort of device, i.e. not something I would play games on so much; maybe just some basic freebie stuff. However N.O.V.A has surpassed my expectations and blown my mind open to just what the Galaxy Tab can offer.
Display
With graphics and gameplay on par with (if not greater) that that of a PSP, the Galaxy Tab and N.O.V.A make quite the match. Bringing back memories of the classic N64 Goldeneye, the game comes alive on the Tab’s 7inch TFT HD display. It runs smoothly with no lagging or glitches. There’s an ominous storyline throughout the game, and you get to watch a series of videos and radio messages as you follow the story of a retired marine called back into duty following a surge of alien invasions.
Gameplay and Controls
Whilst there is a degree of repetition throughout, N.O.V.A makes for a challenging and entertaining game. The controls are intuitive, simple to grasp and really put you ‘in to’ the game. There is a virtual touchscreen analogue stick that moves you about and the direction you ‘face’ can be controlled both via the touchscreen (anywhere on the screen) AND controlled gyroscopically with the Tab’s accelerometer. This means you can look around the game environment by moving the phone up and down and literally point and shoot the bad guys. With buttons to fire, reload, throw grenades, switch weapons as well as well as a host of other interactive (and customisable) features, N.O.V.A can really suck you into the game. With the gyroscope in full action you’ll look like quite the crack –pot playing this on the train or bus, but just think how much fun you’d be having at the same time!
Extra features
There’s various little extra ‘bits’ to N.O.V.A that begin to explore just what potential gaming on the Galaxy Tab could be like. Whilst these are not fully developed, they show a lot of promise. Some of them include:
- There are mini ‘hacking’ games, which are essentially little puzzles that you work through and unlock ammo/progress in the game.
- There are some cool features where you have to interact with the environment in a really intuitive way. This could be sliding an arrow to make the lift move, or spinning/moving parts of the walls/doors to open them. I guess you have to see this live… Check out the video!!
- Multi-player mode – Connect over wifi and play death matches with strangers across the world or just play with your friends over a local network! This is an amazing facet to the game, very fun and very addictive!
Conclusion
There’s a lot of ‘wow’ factors to N.O.V.A, as I’ve advanced through the game it opens up various new tasks, weapons, and ‘missions’ from sniping to drive-by’s. I just didn’t expect this level of gaming to come from a tablet. Really impressed.
There’s still a degree of repetitiveness to the game with the same sort of ‘baddies’ appearing and attacking you in the same predictable way. It thus becomes a bit too easy sometimes. There’s a good amount of detail given to the terrain/environment, although this could easily be expanded upon and is largely wasted.
All-in-all, this is a game you just have to see in action! Better still, head down to a Mobile shop and put it through your paces yourself! You will be impressed and I just can’t wait to see what else is in store for the Samsung Galaxy Tab!

If it's full, that'd be annoying as it went bye-bye when I updated the firmware.

[POLL] So, Who is buying apps?

So, now that we have our phones legitimately activated and working, one question remains. Do we buy apps knowing the risk that they could be potentially pulled from under our feet?
Another thing to think about is - if we do buy apps, we will be generating MS revenue and they may be less inclined to block us out.
I for one will spend some money on Xbox Live games since I am a two year Xbox Live Gold member, but I would like to know what you guys think.
I have bought a couple of xbox live games, but yeah, ive not been going online with my phone for a while cause im scared of getting banned.

These look like legitimate HD7s from the outside, its only from cross-referencing the phone numbers given to activation staff that the HD2 would be found out. At least, thats what I understand of the situation...
I thought they could see our IMEI numbers, which I also gave on the phone when getting my code. That will tell them we are on HD2s
pick up 10 xbox live games and a few apps loving the games
I just went on a spending spree, bought:
Harvest (skeptical at first, amazing trial)
de Blob (rave reviews)
ilomilo (again - got it on the console lol)
Rocket Riot (great handling + style)
I'm set for a good while now.
The quality of the games is great, the prices seem to get better with time, but they are still rather high. Love the try before you buy ideology that they kept from XBLA, really helps you decide if you want the game.
I would love to buy a few xbox live games, but I have no idea how i can get an american credit card... Guess I'll have to wait until marketplace is available in my country.

Yes, I bought Gem Quest 2 and my son bought some racing game for his HD2 also dual booting WP7.
WOW now that's cool
Just had an issue with Need for Speed Underground, really janky in-game sound was the only thing that stopped me from buying the app.
Another example of why demos on almost everything in the Marketplace is great. Really loving the platform right now.

They're easier. To be honest I really did that to support the devs, but they are different levels - same overall themes though. Same mechanics, just bitesize.
And that theme song just melts my heart, like seriously.

I'm digging the whole xbox live service on my phone having some 80 xbox live/xbox live games on demand on my 360 this is more of an extension to my gaming needs
and the games are great for the first batch of live games
Agree the games all kick ass.
The Harvest
Need for Speed (play with volume down)
IloMilo (my fiancee loves how "cute" this game is...also an excellent puzzle game)
I have tried a few games, altough they are on par with competitive platforms, the HD2 multitouch is a gamebreaker, you get it? gamebreaker.
Untill the multitouch is fixed, i'll remain to play simple and free games such as solitaire and so on.
I have bought 5 games so far:
Harvest
Bejeweled Live
Hexic Rush
Zombies! (awesome remake of the board game)
Assassin's Creed (liked the ds version)
Love my xbox live, 6+ years.
So, Who is buying apps?
LOL! NOBODY???

Just had an issue with Need for Speed Underground, really janky in-game sound was the only thing that stopped me from buying the app.
Another example of why demos on almost everything in the Marketplace is great. Really loving the platform right now.

Headphones on a game that relies so heavily on the accelerometer? I will try it out though. Really want a good driving game to go with my action and puzzle types.
Waiting on Fable coin golf and Full house poker though.

Modern Combat 5 on Mad Catz MOJO & CTRLR

Youtube I'll record a better video next week.
I installed MC5 using steps bellow, it works flawlessly on MOJO, all menus work in game smart mode (no mouse switching) but the only issue I have is with the analog triggers, You have to squeeze them completely (100%) for them to work, and the weapon trigger is on R2.
Good game so fare, requires a good internet connection my 3G drops bad in wet weather.
Installed using Market Helper:
reboot the mojo
make sure location access is on.
I installed it as follows:
Install the app from the link.
Force stop google store
Run the app,
I picked:
Selected Tablet, Nvidia Shield
Pick your country and ISP
and activated.
Logged into google for device registration.
Start google store and your favs should be purchasable.
It's a hit and miss process but it does work, all the games above were able to be installed expect GTA-4.
If it still fails force stop google store, rerun the market helper app and check.
if it still fails clear the data on both service and store and force stop google store, rerun makert helper.
On SW reboot and service/store data clear it remembered the settings for me.

UPDATE:
The game works perfect in game mode, but in multiplayer there's an issue.
I recommend people send a bug report to:
http://support.gameloft.com/Home/SupportForm/321/
ie:
Just want to let you know of a bug I found using my mad catz MOJO and CTRLR controller.
The game and controller work 100% perfectly in game mode.
But in multiplayer the right analog stick activates the aim (weapon sight) when push 100% to the left.
Kind of annoying, but if you need any more information, please email.
Thanks

Modern Combat 5
What's you favorite class? I know that game has voice chat so would a Bluetooth headset work?
Basically the red32, hip fire no aim. Its unfairly over powered hence why everyone's using it. The recon class is OK when you have all the perks for radar display etc but all the guns are like spud guns. The last gun is OK but still a fraction of the power the red has.
I played it until all the classes where fully upgraded bar the sniper class took about a week I got bored of it through over playing I guess they made it more suited to people with touch screens so when using a controller its so simple.
I only really used to struggle against the top top squads anyone outside the top 10 where easy pickings
I like assult and recon, I don't know how they do the servers but over wifi it lags badly.. I'll try ethernet... shame there's no local multiplayer.
http://www.gameloft.com/?request=fo...8-When-will-Gameloft-actually-address-the-lag
Interesting reading the MC5 forum: http://www.gameloft.com/?request=forum&url=forumdisplay.php?1647-Modern-Combat-5
voice chat haven't tried it, and haven't heard other people talking either.
I agree with Ash180287 everybody is using mostly that gun, I hope they fix that to

Yeah using the ctlrl and the note 3 over wifi, I never had any issues with lag at all, am lucky enough to have 160mb fiberoptic though so that might have something to do with it also my note 3 receives nightly os updates unlike one of my devises (nudge nudge madcats)
I did find the ctlrl not that accurate/smooth with aiming. However with the assaults u only need the cross hairs on the target no aimings required so it wasn't the end in the world. And that's not me saying theirs something up with the controller imagine its the same case for all the other controller out there.
With the assaults u only need 3 bullets to penetrate for a kill and they have range, where as the recons require a good 8 shots ot connect unless point blank and as soon as you factors in range an assault will mow you down every time.
When I was levelling my classes I dropped my win ratio and kd down to 1.0ish after sticking to the red for a few nights I got it back to 3.0 on both pretty quick, **** thing is Gameloft boot you from most your games as soon as you hit 20-0 in a match or really high kills to low deaths your automatically labeled in with the hackers and cheaters and booted from the lobby. Total bs if u look on the forum theres loads a people moaning about it.
Once ur in with a good squad because all your team provide really good covering fire for each other you don't get killed that much so its a regular occurance
Bug
Just sent a bug report to Gameloft about the controller issue. Lets hope they fix it soon.

hopefully.
I don't get why they don't just create a mapping feature like all emulators have... then controller support wouldn't be an issue.

Did you get the aim scoop popup when looking hard left (right analog stick)?
I get it all the time, good way of learning analog sensitivity. lol
Yep good point
Like honestly, Nvidia can do it, so why can't Mad Catz and other system makers that suffer from games having no controller support?

The game requires wifi even with ethernet.
You can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-fake-wifi-connection-t2800416
I've used it and works well.
basically, install the framework, then the module, then configure the module to run on MC5.
Oh great gwaldo! Now I can actually not worry then I get MC5 and MOJO.
New multiplayer maps not on MOJO?
Has anyone managed to update MC5 on the MOJO to get the new maps yet? I get the new maps on my Lenovo tablet and my LG G3 phone but even after uninstalling and reinstalling MC5 on the MOJO I'm still stuck with the same old 3 multiplayer maps.
New maps have arrived
Checked last night and an update was available. The new multiplayer maps have arrived for the Mojo! We now have both Scramble and Overtime but without those annoying santas everywhere. It's a win-win.

All dressed up and nowhere to go...Nexus 6/5.0 rant

Made a post about wishing Google had some form of backwards compatabilty a few weeks ago and it was kinda poo-pooed
Skip ahead to yesterday. Got my nexus 6 and within 1 hour i was unlocked and rooted with a custom recovery and unencrypted thanks to Wugs great tool kit.
Spent the next day getting used to 5.0 and setting up my phone... Tonight i breath a sigh of relief and I'm ready to actually enjoy my device.
Now whatever your thoughts are on gaming on a Mobil device you have to face it these devices are built for this very thing. These phones don't have all this horsepower and big beautiful screens for the internet and Facebook.
So i fire up Gta Vice city...it won't load a game, try the new one Gta Sa, and menus don't work can't save and load when in game. Tried the new Xcom Enemy Within game and graphic artifacts everywhere games completely unpayable. Over half of all the games i own don't work.
I have a brand new $700 device sitting on my counter while i have to use my nexus 5 under 4.4.4 to actually do the things i want to do! Something is wrong with this picture. Sure some of these problems will be fixed by devs over time... But who the hell knows when. Some companies have 30-40 games across multiple platforms...it could take forever (and usually does) for them to make updates...Now knowing that why does google not have a backup plan to make sure older software works on newer devices?
Why should google care about what developers make? Google rules, developers have to adapt and change the code based on Google decides to bring in each new version.

Because the developer has already made their money... The consumer is the one who is stuck with a product that doesn't work.
Let's see Google crack down then and pull every grand theft auto game from the market till rockstar updates them...But we all know that's not going to happen.
I have no issues playing GTA SA on my Nexus 6. Mine is rooted and unencrypted but otherwise stock 5.0.0. I actually am really enjoying this phone for gaming, something I've never really liked on phones before.
I'm not sure what has been done on your device so I can't give any instructions on how to fix your issue other than to not blame Google for issues with a few apps, especially when you're not using the device as completely stock/as intended by the manufacturer...

Menus become laggy after a little while of playing, cant load/save game. I checked reviews on google play many others on a nexus 6 are complaining of the same
That's weird... I've played probably 3 hours over the weekend of GTA SA and never once noticed a problem. I'll watch for issues as I continue playing it though.

Any other games you have tried? Anther one of my favs is Segas Jet Set Radio... That game would look awesome on this big screen... Doesn't even start
Any time you hit a major OS update, you run into compatibility issues at first. I knew going in that I'd run into a few quirks.
But I ran into similar issues when I first got my G3... lots of apps weren't able to cope with the increase in resolution and needed to be updated. Waze had some serious map rendering issues, for example. But it got sorted.
It's the price you pay, sometimes, to be an early adopter.
I'm downloading a couple other games and will report back (though it may not be until tomorrow when I can report back). I'm downloading the following:
Baulder's Gate Enhanced Edition
GTA Vice City
GTA III
Dungeon Hunter 4
Asphalt 8
Modern Combat 4 (older but I haven't bought the newer versions)
I notice a lot of apps aren't compatible such as dead trigger 2. I side loaded DT2 works fine. There were others as well can't remember which ones. Mostly games

Ah well.
Welcome to the bleeding edge, OP. Someone told me iOS is better at this if you want to go there.
welcome to a new OS, this is what happens across the board for all devices when a new OS is launched.
on windows, when you get a new OS update, not all software is prepared for it, same as everywhere else.
I personally have not had any issues with any games i have running on 5.0 and i game with a lot of big RPG's
Bards Tale is gorgeous on here BTW

Lop. You should have seen the compatibility issues on iOS 8 and developers not being ready for bigger screens. They're still having problems!
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Its actually kind of funny. Google actually tried to offer solutions to this problem this time around. They released the L preview builds and early api for app developers to have everything they needed to test and build their apps to support the newest OS version. Of course very few devs used those tools to get a jump on it . . .
Yeah gaming is hit or miss...clash of clans runs wonderful but my castle clash runs barely good enough to play.
however i do have the latest software and what already appears to be awesome dev support so I hope this gets ironed out. The phone has the power the run the games even on the high res screen.
As an application developer, it would be nice to actually have the device to test on. Right now, I have to rely on the emulator for the Nexus 6. I don't make mobile games, but if their engine relied on Dalvik, you may be waiting a while for the game engine to be updated to ART (I don't think this is an issue as I've never had issues with gaming on my Nexus 7 tablet). More likely, you are dealing with an issue with resources not matching the Nexus 6 DPI... therefore, you're stuff looks out of whack, or can't click on menu items. You'll have to wait for more devs to get a hold of physical devices. The emulator is good for a lot of things... but there are somethings that are just broken for development...
Some examples I noticed
1) You have to turn off "Use host GPU" to take screenshots/record video off the emulator.... Disabling "Use host GPU" makes the emulator run like crap... takes like 5 minutes to boot on my machine.
2) Cannot rotate device anymore. With Gingerbread, you could rotate the device and test out your layout-land resources... nope, not anymore... at least not on anything >= Ice Cream Sandwich
3) HAXM... not an issue for me, but I get a lot of questions on my YouTube channel about why my emulator is smooth. I use intel processors on my computers. Many use AMD and development with the stock android emulator is a nightmare. I don't know if Genymotion fixes this for those as I haven't had an AMD processor since before Android existed as a mobile OS.
4) Freezes up randomly. Its just not as stable as a real device. Obviously this could vary on machine to machine. For some reason, my Nexus 4 emulator freezes way more frequently than my Nexus 5 emulator.
5) I store some files I need to test my app's database in Dropbox. I used to be able to download the file and run it in my program to create my database. I can't do this anymore. It works fine on my physical device, but I don't think my Note II will be getting Lollipop anytime soon. I need to test SD Card storage options and the emulator just doesn't work for this.
My Nexus 6 was promised to leave the warehouse by December 3rd... even paid overnight shipping.... still hasn't even been charged from my account. My point: Improvements will happen... we just need devices before we can fix a lot of issues with lollipop. Motorola/Google have really screwed this release up.
Thanks for the post Rufflez.
And for the person who brougt ms Windows up... That's a terrible comparison.
I have 10-15 year old games on cds that still work on win 8/7. Windows even has a comparability mode built in. Would be nice if android had the same.
This happened last year with kitkat (except wasn't as bad) and now again this year with art/5.0.
Google thinks devs are going to update all their software every year??? Isn't that expecting too much.
modern combat 5 plays absolutely incredibly on the n6! graphic would rival any console game.

This may be wrong, but I think Google likes to make software not backward compatible due to security features. In Windows, having the ability to run a software made for Windows 95 is great, but with a built-in emulator, old existing security loop hole will exist in newer version unless they patch up. What Google is doing forces all apps to change to meet the security standard so this allow Google to have more control of the apps development vs having a large QA team to release security patches similar to what Microsoft is doing on windows. Not to mention having backward compatibility (not just KitKat) will increases the size of android l os, which is not ideal on mobile device
