Possible free nexus 7?? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I cancelled my Google order last week before shipment due to getting one of the emails saying it was delayed. I bought from pc world here in the UK in the end.
On Sunday I got an email saying my tablet has been shipped. I checked the tnt ref today and apprantly my Gardner has signed for it today while I was at work. I dont have a Gardner!
At the time of canceling my order i removed my c/card details from wallet to ensure the order was not shipped. I checked my balance as of last night and they have not debited the money. I checked with my bank and they have pre authorised the funds but not taken it.
How quick was your money taken compared to delivery?
Just wondering if somehow I have managed to get a free nexus 7 from Google?

Once you click GO on a purchase a contract is formed between the card issuer and the retailer.
The funds are booked and the item is then shipped. Once the item is shipped the funds are released to the retailer.
If the gardener has signed for it they have a free Nexus and you have to prove you're not a gardener and don't employ one.
if you can prove that then liability is with the carrier and your card issuer is responsible for the refund.

Neighbor with the last name gardener? Call Sherlock
In the US they have typically been charging on shipping day, mistakes aside...

Getting a Nexus S from overseas

What methods are people from overseas using to get the Nexus S? I used a mail forwarder to get my Nexus One but that was made a bit easier because Google's online store accepted overseas credit cards. Unfortunately Best Buy only accepts US credit cards.
I was just going to use the "Buy it for me" service that some mail forwarders offer but just wanted to check if anyone on here had another trick up their sleeves.
I'm using mobicity.com.au
prices are alright (not great) but they will get it to you.

But there's no statement, when NS will be available there. Right now you can just pre-order.

Best Buy isn't shipping to any "known" freight-forwarders.
From the mobicity website
The Nexus S is released by Google in the US on the 16th of November. Given this is just before Christmas we expect to start shipping late December/early January.

Use NYBox.com for Nexus S orders
I recommend nybox.com they have Buy For Me service. They buy Nexus S from Best Buy and ship to you worldwide. They charge 15% buy for me fee. Great service, i used them for my Nexus One last year.
I have just placed buy for me request for Nexus S from them.
i go tit right from Bestbuy.com
THeres a generic address you put in ur billing address if ur using international card (its in the help, a Texas address)
then I put in the shipping address of a mail forwarder (shipito.com)
all good!

So... Motorola still hasn't charged me

For my developer edition GSM, they still have not charged me, I have the phone right now, what?

I would give them a call to let them know.
Pending your situation that being purchase or replacement. The problem could be shipping warehouse in Texas and customer call and order center outsourced in a foreign country. I sent a phone back that took five and 12 people to confirm they received it.

If that was a debit transaction, the amount should be frozen.

We ordered a DE GSM and a Motomaker GSM the same day. They charged us for the Motomaker within a couple days. Didn't get charged for the DE until 2+ weeks after I received it.

You'll get charged, don't worry. I thought it was a glitch or something too when I bought mine, but depending on what type of card you used to buy your device, the lag between when you purchase it and when the money is withdrawn could be many days later (mine was on day 6). I don't know why, I just know that has been happening.

I ordered on debit card on the 10th and got a "pending transaction" hold on funds on the 14th, that's the same day I received the phone. Then the next day the authorization totally disappeared from my debit card, the money on hold was released, and I haven't been charged yet. Free phone? I doubt it, but most pending authorizations are actually deducted within 24-48 hours. How long do they have to get their money? Hell, it's been 10 days.....

I know I have said it before but I have to say it again - no wonder Motorola loses so much money. You can't run a business like this. Now that they have unfrozen the funds, they run the risk you will spend the available money in the account. Not everyone does a good job balancing their checking account.
They would have recourse against you if there weren't sufficient funds at the time they get around to trying to debiting them, but it would be costly trying to bill you and then turn you over to collections if you didn't pay.
I have never seen such a poorly run business like this before!

Yea, I get what your saying. I was on slickdeals and saw that everyone was getting charged within 48 hours of ordering and thought that I may have gotten lucky and payment fell through the cracks. Until I asked on the forum and someone referred me to this thread. Seems that this is not a one off unique situation.
I have no false hope that the charge won't go through in the near future and that I'll get a free phone (I wouldn't complain though). However, just for sake of argument. How long does a company have to retrieve their money off of a debit card after you order something? I wouldn't think that they could just wait a year to deduct funds. I wonder how long a person would have to wait in the event that they wanted to close their checking account or change banks? There has to be some kind of time limit.......

I am sure there is no one-size-fits-all answer because I am sure the account agreement you agreed to when you activated your debit card varies from bank to bank and includes a choice of law provision in it. And there are federal laws that govern electronic funds transfers, too.
The best and probably only way to get the answer to that question without paying a lawyer to research your particular case is to call your bank and ask them.
But even if your bank refuses to process the debit after a certain period of time, Motorola would not be without recourse against you. They can have the IMEI of your device blacklisted and they can bill you for the phone even after they blacklist the IMEI. If you don't pay the bill, they can sell the debt to a collection agency and the collection agency can get a judgment against you and levy on your account. If you do pay the bill, they can unblacklist your device.
Now there are statute of limitations on debt collection (varies by state), but those are usually long, like on the order of 3-6 years, some states even 10 years!
SOLs for Debt Collection
I know in your mind you paid your debt for the phone when you authorized the debit card transaction, but until it is actually processed, you are in debt to Motorola for the price phone. And you can't just assume that you have no responsibility to keep the funds available for the debit. As I stated a couple of times now, you need to call Motorola and discuss this with them.
Now this is just crazy we are even discussing this because it is just crazy for Motorola to conduct business like this.
This happened to me when I bought 2 PS4's from Walmart.com I received the 2 consoles and didn't get charged at all. 2 weeks passed by and all my money was still in the bank. I think it was on the 16th day when they took the funds out. I was pretty confused, never bothered to ask why though.

They can blacklist AND still try to collect on the debt. Just like if you cancel your line before your contract is up - the wireless carriers can blacklist your device AND try to collect the ETF.

Sprint Nexus 6 Shipment/Stock

Just got off chat with a Sprint rep. Come to find out Sprint never had stock of the Nexus 6 and is now saying they are waiting on a shipment to send out to customers who have already paid for the device in order it was placed via web or telesales. So what this means is they are giving a "timeframe" of 2-10 business days for shipment.
This is bold face lying to the customer. To say you can "buy" the device on 11/14 was never true. Sprint basically said they would sell you one but never had stock.
A Sprint employee on the Sprint subreddit (r/sprint) said that the Sprint warehouses are still showing 0 inventory, which means stores will also be at 0 inventory today. So disappointing.

Last Thursday there were ~15 cargo ships parked off the Los Angeles ports waiting to unload due to a truck driver protest. Don't think it's any better today.
Got off the Chat again with customer care. I requested a credit. They issued a $15 credit due to the trouble.

Could you pass up the foodchain to your corporate overlords to not be jagoffs and add Motorola-purchased IMEIs to their whitelist? Because Sprint homebase office rats are apparently either idiots or jagoffs. Possibly both.

Just talked to sprint and guy said they are in warehouse and shipping tomorrow. He said there was an internal glitch
So anyone with sprint have a nexus 6 on their account? I'm hoping since it's not officially released from sprint (no in store activations) that the Moto orders will work once sprint starts activating Nexus 6 on accounts.

Maybe that is true. I just tried to cancel my Nexus 6 order for a Note 4 (I know, I know). But the rep said that he couldn't cancel it because the Nexus is ready to be shipped!!!
Here's a copy of that part of the convo:
Steven: Yes. Just do not navigate on another page on this tab.
Steven: Thank you. One moment please as I look up your order.
You: Ok
Steven: I was able to locate your order. Before we continue, I will need to authenticate your account. The following questions are designed to prevent unauthorized access to your account.
Steven: May I have your 6-10 digit account PIN please?
You: My security answer is *******. I always forget the pin.
Steven: Thank you. One moment please while I review your information.
Steven: I have some good news and some bad news. Which would you like first?
You: Oh man. haha the Bad.
Steven: The bad news is that the order cannot be canceled at the moment.
Steven: But the good news is the reason.
Steven: The order cannot be canceled, because a device was already assigned to your order, packaged and placed on our loading docks, waiting for UPS to pick it up. So that would mean that in a maximum of 24 hours, your order will have a tracking number and a delivery schedule!
You: Oh man that's great!!!! Steven you are the man!
Steven: Thank you.
Steven: Would you like help with anything else today?
You: No that's great. Thank you for the help

T mobile nexus 6 cheaper for cyber monday

I have a blue 64gb on backorder called customer care and have them credit me due to the phone has not shipped and the price has been reduced. I don't know if this breaks any forum riles I just wanted to make anyone who has their phone still in backorder to check this out. I made sure enough get the csr name and ID number.

I didn't have the same luck. The CSR I spoke with said that she didn't have a way to credit me (64GB ordered on 11/24). Maybe it's because mine is new service and I don't have an account yet? She said that I'd have to do a new order on the web and then refuse the shipment of the first order. She also said that the 64GB is backordered with no information on when they would be available.
So for the people that ordered the 64gb version in-store on 11/19, are we screwed? Or is there some way to get credit for this? I see it says web-only orders but I still don't even have the phone yet and opted to pay in full for a new account/line.
I ordered mine in store last night? What's the new price? I got a 64 gig also.

Just called tmobile..I mentioned sale and they said I could cancel and reorder...then I mentioned I'm using Jump! was put on hold and they are crediting the eip on the nexus 6 in 2 weeks. CSR seemed to think I'd have the phone by Dec 15 to apply the credit so we shall see...
I ordered on the 19th for what its worth...makes the 64gb basically the same as the 32gb was initially... I'll take that and wait for my whale.

Mine should be out for delivery to my house today, but I still haven't paid for it yet.
Excellent, thanks for the tip, just ordered the blue 64GB. With all the backorders, hope to get it before summer!
Yeah it seems to be only for current customers. The csr also looked at my account. This phone release has been nothing but issues. But I guess this makes it a bit better since we are getting the phone for what the 32gb cost.

I was on the phone with T-mobile for the past hour trying to deal with this, but eventually they took care of the issue.
Essentially I am a new customer - single line - switched from Verizon - paying for the 64gb Nexus 6 in full - but ordered the phone in store and paid the taxes in advance on 11/19 after specifically asking if they normally have black Friday/cyber Monday deals and being told no. I asked if there was a way to cancel my order somehow or reorder the phone with the current deal etc, because it sucks to be out $50 when I have been waiting 2-3 weeks for this damn phone being on backorder etc and still do not have the phone in hand (on top of being told that there wouldn't be any deals). They said that I would have to refuse my shipment because it's already shipped, re-order again right now and wait for the new one to get to me, and then they would refund me for the old phone so that I have saved a net $50. So then I asked what is the purpose of wasting both parties time and money when an account credit would be fine for me? They apparently didn't think of that.. and said it would be no issue lol. I'm not the type of person to go complaining to get free stuff, but this legitimately sucks because I was told by a manager that there wouldn't be any deals and I might as well just order the 64gb now while I'm already here.
Overall even though T-mobile's customer service is set up somewhat clunky, I am very impressed with everything they've helped me with so far (had to deal with them 3-4 times already in the past few weeks). Verizon would have told me to go **** myself.
Hopefully this helps anyone that's in a similar situation.
Well this blows, I got my 32gb in store on Friday and was told there was no sale planned for Monday or a would have waited...

Too bad those people ordering today probably won't see their devices until February. Or, T-Mobile just might screw us early orders over again and ship items ordered today by x-mas. Which will make me hate it even more.

yup, if it was a 32gb either just returned or some new stock there is a good chance you will see it soon.
No dice here. Spoke with customer care and they transferred me to the "buyer's remorse" department. Both said the only thing I could do was cancel and reorder, but I would be placed in the back of the line for the phone. Not cool....
I just got off the phone with customer service. I ordered and received my phone the week before Thanksgiving after being told that they didn't have any deals planned. The CSR I spoke with today couldn't change the monthly charge, but did credit the $48 against EIP.
I bought mine on GPS with Discover.
It has 90day price protection.
I'll see if I can pricematch it to tmo's.

$100 Google Credit with Pixel 2 purchase

Cyber Monday deal from Google Store.
Going to have to give them.a call and see if they will give me the credit since I only received a week ago.
*Update*
I called Google and they won't just give me the credit. I have to return this Pixel and reorder. I guess it's no big deal for $100. Just seems silly on their part to now have a used phone.
Anyone else try and not have to return phone?
i'm waiting to get on chat with them. i just bought the phone yesterday so i'd hope they'd be willing to include me in the promo
I bought it Sunday, called Monday. I was told no. They can't refund or even adjust purchased phones after an hour from time of purchase. I now have a second pixel 2 coming and I'll be sending the first one back.
At least I know next time. Next Pixel release I'm not going to buy it until several months later. I could still return mine, however; I'm not going to b/c I'll be stuck with a lot of credit until next year.
I traded in my Pixel 1, so if I return the product the refund will probably not happen for a week in which they will refund the cash portion and re-apply my store credit from my trade in. If I were to re-buy it, I'd be out the immediate cost right now as the refund won't process for awhile so no prior store credit will be able to be used.
Next time I know. The trade in process was a disaster and you'd get more selling it independently. If I bought cash only then I'd do it, but the store credit complicates things.
Plus my Pixel 2 doesn't actually have problems so I feel like I won the lottery as it is LOL

At least your getting overnight (granted you paid extra).
They should be doing it for free since they are now 4 days after my original delivery date.
Ordered it on cyber Monday night and checked status today that it was delayed. They didn't provide a new delivery date, just that they it was delayed and I would receive an email when it's shipped.
Does anyone know if it's because they are trying to process all the orders they received on cyber Monday or is it an issue with limited stock?
I would prefer the former explanation rather then limited stock, since it could be quite some time before it actually ships if that's the case.
I don't know for certain, but strongly suspect it is because of cyber Monday orders.
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Did they really get hit with more orders than they could handle? I just have such a hard time imaging that this phone is selling so hot they can't keep up with stock.
I don't think it is a stock issue, rather a fulfillment issue. And yes, I think they got enough orders Monday that it slowed down getting them all out the door.
