NexusHD2 & Reverse Tether - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi everyone i'm trying to use the reverse tether app with my NexusHD2 2.4. The app seems legit but the problem is located to the device drivers.
I'm running Windows 7 ultimate x64. Currently my device is recognized as Android Composite ADB interface
Even normal tethering is not connecting and i get a usb fail.
i've read that i need the Remote NDIS based internet sharing device driver to work i was unable to find one working.
Is there anyone solved this problem. If yes please provide the appropriate drivers.
Thanks a lot
p.s. Yes, i really really need usb reverse tethering and no there it to possibility to share through wifi.

I think that unfortunately currently is not possible to do that, but if you use the search maybe you can find some help.

Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device Driver

Had a search and found 1 or 2 things but they never worked for me. Anyway I have complied this driver for Windows XP so all you need to do is add it to your Internal Storage, plug it in to your computer copy it to your PC, then set your phone to internet sharing. When it moans that it dosn't know where the driver is, point it to them and it should work.
I just tested it on an XP machine and it worked so hopefully it will work for you.
If there is already a solution for this please let em know.

4.2.6 USB tethering
I downloaded the drivers but don't know where to put them. I think I'm not doing something right.
1. Plug in phone via USB (dont' have "Wireless tether for root users running")
2. settings / wireless controls/ "click" internt tethering
3. go to PC and wireless network connections, select G1Tether and click connect. it will not connect
is this a driver problem? do i need "wireless tether for root users" running?
help
thanks... vista and windows 7 has the drivers inbuilt but not for windows xp..
Driver works on Magic 32A with SuperD 1.5.1, WinXP SP2.
Thank you very, very much
Maciek.
Worked beautifully for me!
Worked great for me!
Thanks,

I cannot get these drivers to work. I'm using an xp machine and every time I turn on the usb tethering, it automatically installs drivers identified as "HTC remote ndis remote device" and it has a big yellow ! next to it. I tried pointing at your folder for the device wizard and it says it couldn't locate better drivers to install. What am I missing here?
I have the same issue with you, waiting for the solution.

Try tell it that you will select the driver manually. Then click the "Have Disk" button and point to the inf of this driver. That should install it regardless of what Device Manager thinks is the best drriver.
Been having trouble getting wired tether to work also. In device manager I had a yellow "!" sign on USB composite device, installed the driver from this thread and the caution sign disappeared - still no tethering though
I suppose I'll just have to make do with wireless tether.
when I point that file as the driver it tells me it isnt for that device.
Connect your phone, then when it says it has found new hardware but cant install it, go to the device manager, double click the and click reinstall driver.
Point the folder to where ever you saved the driver too and it should install.

That fixed it for me. Thanks.
Works
Worked for my Nexus 1 Cyanogen 5.0.5
Thanks to you for posting this and to the user who posted the info about vista and 7 having the driver already. I was scratching my head as to why this worked on my home laptop (vista) and not my work laptop (xp).
i got an old fossil
Windows 2000.....is this possible?
Thanks you! Something that finally works!
I have a question. My PC at work still has its normal LAN connection through a network card. Now I have this second connection through my G1. If I make a web request with Firefox, which connection will it use? Do I have to disable the LAN connection to guarantee that it uses the G1? Or is there someway to make Windows default to the G1 if it's attached, and use the LAN otherwise?
Works for USB tethering using Android 2.2 (Froyo) and Windows XP
Thanks for the driver. FYI I was able to use it with Android 2.2's built-in USB tethering and Windows XP SP3.
Unrooted Nexus One with stock Android 2.2 (Froyo)
this worked for me, thanks!
xp sp3+moto droid (rooted)+cm5.0.6.2

Did anyone get Appinventor by Google running on HD2?

Hey guys,
I was granted access to the beta of Android App Inventor and wanted to start playing around with that software and my HD2 running android. However, I cannot manage to get a connection to the phone via USB. (Selection: Connect to Phone in Block Editor does not work for me).
So, is there anyone working with App Inventor paired with HD2?
Thank you for your help and advice in advance,
jokeR
Download the Android SDK (if you haven't already), and install the package, "Usb Driver Package, revision 3".
Then plug in your HD2, if it doesn't auto-install do the following:
Right click my computer - manage - device manager,
find your HD2 in Other Devices/leo
Right click it, Update Driver Software
Browse my computer for driver software
In the text box: C:\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver (adjust accordingly)
Click next and it should install.
also only some builds have usb connection working i am using darkstones build and usb works fine
Currently I use this build: "shubCRAFT CM6RC2/Froyo" .
I still did not manage to complete a connection. The Block editor quits with an error "We made a mistake! Please help by reporting this bug:
Problem getting project defitions for phone: ...longurl..."
I will retry installing SDK and Extras and driver.
So, after reinstalling everything it still does not work:
"Leo" is listed in Devices as: "Android Composite ADB Interface" - is that the right driver?
I also tried to use a virtual Android device utilizing the SDK, but sadly that did not work as well. I have the Desktop of the virtual Android on my Screen, but clicking connect in Block editor does not connect to the virtual device (the Leo is unplugged in that scenario).
:/
make sure USB debugging is enabled in the application settings
Yes I have App Inventor. It's working OK for my on Darkstones build, but like you, I have issues with Shub's build.
For some reason or another - and I'm not sure how - I got it running just fine with no phone connected at all. I was able to complete the project and save it just fine. Maybe it was a bug...
I tried Darkstone's built, had USB debugging enabled, but it still did not work for me Don't know what to do next.
Anyone working with virtual devices or other builds that could work?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Tethering HTC-HD2 with Android

Hi,
I can't seem to get my HTC-HD2 (T-mobile) working for tethering. I just flashed my phone with the Android 2.2 OS successfully but when i plug my phone in via USB, Windows XP can't install the driver manually or automatically. I Installed the Google USB Drivers via SDK Manager for the "Android Hardware Found" message but for some reason it tells me the driver was not found.
I don't know if i doing this right. Do i need a driver for the HTC-HD2?
I am trying to connect to the internet with the phone instead of using the hotspot which interferes with other wireless devices. This is prohibited at my job so I was wondering if tethering would work with my HTC-HD2...
..Sorry for posting this in the wrong section.
Thanks
Nevermind...Fixed.
Should've have done some searching first before i posted.
Thanks
I am having the same problem but with Windows 7. Can you tell me what did you do to fix this issue?
for pdmj, please dont say "nevermind i figured it out" If you are going to make a topic at least post to it what you found instead of causing yet more topics to pop up without answers.

maan it was "theshadow1234" who figured it out and its pissing me off much too that he wasnt able to post a solution to this mo******in problem Oo
I got "Wi-Fi Tether v3_0 pre14" working on BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA Gingerbread SD Build V7.
But only in AD-HOC mode. I think, it will work on any ROM. You just need to specify connection mode from 'master' to 'AD-HOC' and your computer will connect without any limitations automatically. Good luck!

Windows 7 x64 USB Tethering

Hi,
It seems that I've searched everywhere and tried everything, but I'm unable to get USB tethering to work.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is my understanding of how it should work between Windows 7 64bit and Typhoon's CM7 Android running on the HTC HD2:
Phone Side:
Wired tethering is already available as an option, so simply enable USB tethering by ticking Settings -> Wireless and network settings -> Tethering & portable hotspot -> USB tethering
Windows Side:
Install the correct ADB driver for the HTC HD2. Does this create a new network adapter? I'm assuming a internet connection starts automatically as soon as tethering is enabled on the phone (and this runs via the network adapter)
When I connect the phone via USB, windows is unable to automatically find a driver. Apparently windows already comes prepackaged with a RDNIS driver, but this doesn't seem to work. The phone shows up in device manager under "Other devices" and is listed as "ADB" with a yellow exclamation mark. Where do I find the correct driver to use, and what happens after I've installed the driver. Is it true that the process is automatic, or do I need to right click on the installed adapter and click connect?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,
Regards,
XA83
Hi guys. Would really appreciate some tips on this one.
Is nobody using USB tethering on Win7 64?

Hey. I haven't been able to get native USB teathering to work. U can use a app to make it work that seems to be the only way as of now. If you search my posts I posted the apk file.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
In the past I've had to search on google for the ADB driver but cannot remember where i found it since I couldnt find it again but a friend just brang their desire hd over and windows 7 found the driver straight away, do u know anyone who would borrow u their android device?
dunno if this helps
http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
Thanks for the replies.
I've already installed the Google USB driver (from the developer site listed above). The phone shows up and the ADB driver is installed.
I've also tried installing the wired tethering apk from google apps. It is currently at version 1.4.
HOWEVER, I still don't understand how this is supposed to work as the ADB driver is not listed under networking devices. Surely you need a network driver to able to establish a connection. What am I not understanding?
Regards,
XA83
Hey, just built a new PC for a friend and tried sharing my internet connection using easytether which didnt work because the pc didnt have the correct adb driver. My friend then installed HTC Sync (for her Desire HD) and windows found an adb driver in there. Now the native tethering & easytether on my phone works.
Now I'm not too sure if htc sync has ANYTHING to do with this, or if the driver was downloaded from her desire hd (usb was plugged in already) but I guess you could try downloading htc sync and see what happens.

[Q] Android does not support internet ?! o.O

hello, i got new problem, is there any chanse to use my PCs internet (it's not wireless!) on my android hd2 via USB cable ....
Yes, you can do reverse tethering (although I have never tried).
Reverse tethering works best, apparently, on ubuntu linux: http://blog.mycila.com/2010/06/reverse-usb-tethering-with-android-22.html

Which step are you stuck on, and are you on linux?

Hi,
Does your phone connect to pc when you plug in usb cable?
Does your pc have latest version of WMDC?
This contains the drivers for successful connection.
If (And only if) you're using a Desire HD rom then just plug in your USB cable, choose "Internet Pass-through", let windows install the drivers (W7), enjoy internet on your device.
But if you're using another rom, follow the other advices from our fine members
Well.... my phone is connected with cable, im using windows7 ... all drivers are installed i got HTC dream composite ADB interface in control panel in 'android phone' device detected. im trying to USB thetering...but problem is that i still dont have internet acces from my pc, to my phone. i installed wired tether via my VPN ... but still i dont know what to do ... can someone pls explain ....
even i wanted to know how to do this
i am using windows 7
my hd2 android(rom: angel death v1.4) gets connected with pc but in network and sharing centre it shows "no access to internet".
