Does Google Now Work Well on the Nexus 7? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just asking since Nexus 7 doesn't have data, unlike the GNexus.

Works great. A good wifi connection will be lower latency anyway.

I haven't experienced any lag. Try clearing the data and the cache from the app settings. Settings>apps>all

It did not help too much sadly, so what are my options and how can I even return it to the play store?

Seems like I just have a lemon, will have to try and return it then.

Sounds like a troll here. Want lag? Try an xperia play with an ics rom.

No lag here. I second the ****ty internet connection theory.

i get lag maybe once in a blue moon. I have 7 mb internet which is pretty solid
What I've noticed on my N7 -- and what I think might actually be the issue, here -- is that the WiFi is somewhat fiddly. On my VZW-provided Actiontec junker, it's just fine. On my Asus (irony!) N-16 running TomatoWRT, on the other hand, it's less than happy; data connections hang, which shows up in the Play store as difficulty pulling up assets (images, pages, etc) -- which looks kind of like really nasty laggyness.
I haven't had the opportunity or the urge to diagnose yet, but the first thing I'm going to do is try changing the channel on the router, followed shortly by probably changing every other setting. Then I'll curse for a while because I'll have borked the router config without having made a backup. Because that's how these things work.

[Q] Wifi tether apps

Hi everyone, I'm looking for an app or a way that I can use my vzw galaxy Nexus to tether my nexus 10. I've used my gnex to tether a Xoom and other phones but can't get it to work with the 10. Btw, both are rooted.
Any one have any suggestions?
Have you tried wifi tether? What are you using to tether atm thats not working on N10?

I use both wifi tether and foxi fi neither one are working. They work with my lap top and foxifi used to work with the xoom.
Two thoughts
1. Make sure you Nexus in not set to 5gh WiFi only and see if that helps.
2. Isn't Verizon tethering now free? I don't use Verizon so I am not 100 percent sure. If I am right check and see if it works with their app.
Good luck.

Or you could keep posting hand holding questions :/

Couldn't get tablet talk to work properly. Tried dinamotxt and works like a charm between my n7 and n4. Bluetooth is required for setup but then allows you to turn it off which is nice on battery life.

What are you trying to accomplish by tethering or making it a WiFi hotspot? There would be no data connection to share.

I don't believe you can have a WiFi connection and access point on at the same time with android. Windows 7 has the miniport driver that allows this, but I think it requires certain hardware features built in that android devices might not have. I've heard this question asked a lot but no solutions.

There are several apps in the Play Store that do USB tethering. I don't know if they can get data from WiFi though. Search for USB tethering and try some.

EasyTether works with the nexus 7 but I'm using linux on my laptop so can't vouch for windows. However, it should work if you follow their directions.

[Q] infrastructure tethering

I believe the default hot spot for the Nexus 4 for is an adhoc network. In order for my car radio to connect to my phone I need to be able to have an Infrastructure network. I know other phones can do this, hopefully the nexus 4 can too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :good:
