Is it safe to flash GT-P6810 with different region ROM? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

I have Galaxy Tab 7.7 with stock TGY (HK) version of Android. I want to replace it with XEU stock ROM using Odin (eg: http://www.techgoondu.com/2012/07/13...ream-sandwich/)
is it safe to do that?

Would help alot if u read the threads.

I have an Aussie 6810 flashed with UK ICS. Previusly i had stock Austrian HC.
Neither gave me any issues despite the region.
Just do each step properly and use desktop odin to be extra safe.

thanks! will post the results once its done

OK. it is actually 3 min job. everything is fine. the tablet now is even better than my Note which had 'official' upgrade few weeks ago.
Note has 4.0.3 and the Tab now has 4.0.4 but somehow the Tab feels better and faster...
Just some noob like will read this post. here what I did.
I bought this Tab from some asian online shop about 30% cheaper than Amazon UK. And used as it is (no problem with changing chinese to english). now i have to sell it as i need some dough. so i thought i'd upgrade to ICS. however the Tab is TYG (HK) and there is no ICS upgrades yet. Also everything what is labeled UK sells faster here. So... I decided to upgrade it to XEE (EU) and ICS at same time.
I never done anything like that so I found some little tutorial (although I saw few dozens of them they all are a bit different from each other).
The ROM replacement:
1. read this article: http://www.techgoondu.com/2012/07/1...samsung-galaxy-tab-7-7-to-ice-cream-sandwich/
2. downloaded Odin form where they said
3. downloaded P6810XXLPK_P6810OXALPK_XEU.zip from Sammobile, extracted .tar.md5 (ignore the second file - apparently is not needed)
4. run Odin on PC
5. shutdown the Tab, then pressed Volume Down and Power for a while, got yellow triangle screen
6. pressed Volume Up to confirm, got next screen - red text says ODIN MODE
7. connected USB
8. waited until Odin painted COM port in YELLOW
9. ticked PDA and browsed to P6810OXALPK_P6810XXLPK_HOME.tar.md5
10. clicked Start
11. waited around 3:50
12. Odin printed "Removed" in the info box...
13. Disconnected
14. Pissed boiling water all over enjoying the ICS (I so hated honeycomb I probably hated nothing like that in my life (or my be going to school every ****ing morning, yeah only that can compare to my hate of honeycomb... they really should've called it Royalpaininthearse))

Downgrade Galaxy S i9000 16GB UK to Android Eclair 2.1 from official Froyo 2.2

Hi everyone. This is my first ever post in my life and hope it will be helpful. I do appologize for my English if I have mistakes in words and sentences.
I have installed Android official Froyo 2.2 upgrade from stock Eclair 2.1 three days ago and I did not liked how Froyo is working (slow). So I decided to get back to Eclair 2.1 and apply RyanZa`s lag fix (and wait for RyanZa to make it work with official Froyo) as it was not working on Froyo 2.2 official (could not root it). I was searching today for the right Firmware version for me (I9000XXJM1) so I can use official upgrade to Froyo from KIES again. And I have found it(many thanks to everyone who helping each other and we all can find answers). I am not sure if it will work for all Galaxy S i9000 8 or 16GB, but it definitely worked for me (I have an upgrade message waiting for me on my last KIES everytime I am connecting my Galaxy S but I do not want it now ). I have uploaded all files you will be needed, see the attached picture as I can not put link in my post (rules of XDA). ODIN program and Firmware I9000XXJM1 in one file.
My phone is Samsung Galaxy S i9000 16GB simfree United Kingdom version I believe.
This is how I did that (how I learned from XDA):
1) extract all files using Rar or Zip to a folder
2) open Odin3 v1.3
3) check Re-partition box
4) select PIT file - s1_odin_20100512
5) select PDA file - CODE_I9000XXJM1_REV03_LOW_20100721_2206.tar
6) select PHONE file - MODEM_I9000XXJM1.tar
7) slect CSC file - CSC_I9000OXAJM1.tar
8) put phone in downloading mode - volume button down+home button+power button
9) connect your phone to PC with USB cable
10)you should see com port in ID:COM section in ODIN
11)press START button in ODIN
12) your phone will restart itself when downloading is finished
Congrats, you have now Eclare 2.1 and should be able to upgrade to Froyo 2.2 from KIES
It is not my work and honor, there much more clever guys out there then me, I just used they`s knowledge and want to have an apportunity to help everyone who need it. Maybe I am late already?
thx, was just looking for this,
I am glad.
z4root works fine with 2.2, as does flashing a rooted kernel (e.g. CF-Root kernel) using odin. Both are available on this forum if you do a search.
Oh, thanks for info. Will definitely try z4root.
heloo mate the files are no longer there, is there another way i can get hold of them please?
File no longer exists.... update please if possible
It is there. I did not remove it. I am sorry but I can not copy paste it here becouse of the XDA rules but I promise you they are uploaded and still there. See the URL on the picture above. By the way "z4root" is not working for me (SGS i9000 16GB FROYO.XXJPO simfree UK), it just never end to attempting apply root to the phone? was doing it yesterday more then 1 hour.
Ok .. go the files from samfirmware and downgraded from JPM to JM1. Did as you said with re-partition. I then did a factory reset on JM1 then upgraded via kies to JPO.
Just to be sure I get a clean install I then did a factory reset on JPO too.
Works like a charm... Now I can update via kies whenever they (if they ever) release new updates....
WICKED!
THANKS
Oh almost forgot.... I used a Samasung Galaxy S 8 Gig model from the carphone warehouse!
Thanks mate, finally done it, i typed in upper case according to the link, i had to do it in lower case instead. thanks once again.
Woked for me thanks, wanted rid of the Nordic firmware, will wait till the UK froyo is released.
Thasnks again
I am very glad that it works for you all.
I will try it tonight and come back with the answer. I'm from Romania, I have nordic froyo and right now we have the official version so I have to downgrade first
Hope it`s working for Romania as well but not sure. Anyway, good luck.
Hello,
Thanks for this, I downgraded from 2.2 (installed last moth using Kies hack) to JM1 but I still can't upgrade to official Froyo using Kies, it says cannot update this device's version.
I'm on Orange in Romania.
Could someone help? How can I upgrade to official 2.2?
Thanks.
NKProds - try downgrading to an Eclair version that was used for Orange Romania phones and please post the results.
1. If I make upgrade to froyo with odin can i make the same steps to downgrade him to 2.1? (because title say downgrade from official froyo who means from kies).
2. I have problems with camera (not open) and with scroll bar (not open) after i make download and install thetering from market(
I reinstall camera but problems stiil there. That is the final choice (downgrade-upgrade again from kies) to try something before to send to service.
I have problem. In downloading mode computer not regonize phone. HELP.
Open Kies and let it run in the background connect phone see if it finds drivers .

Thank you so much for this post, saved me hours of searching.

Galaxy Note and I (The horrific story buying online)

Hi Guys, I'm just frustrated and would like to share my experience buying Galaxy Note in an online market in China. (I will go to appropriate forum for help on the problems I'm still having later).
The moral of the story is: If you are not a Chinese-language user, buy an android device at a Chinese online market at your own risk!
My wife and I are non Chinese-language users who live in China. I have a G-Tab P1000 and am extremely happy with it. Thus, I got my wife - an iPhone user - interested to get G-Note N7000 since the day it was announced. So last week, I bought it at a Chinese online market (Taobao) for her early birthday present. It came with Hungarian User Manual.
It arrived Monday (2 days ago). After started it up and changed the language to English, I was shocked and upset! A lot of Samsung specific Apps were missing. I got even more worried when the Android Market was not even there! Instead, there was a Mandarin version Market App customized for Chinese not even developed by Google. In addition to that, there were several other default chinese apps including the QQSecurity, Dolphine Browser in Chinese, Chinese bookstore, etc (all in chinese characters).
Later I found out that I was missing: Android Market, Samsung Apps Market (and all the 'hub' things), Gmail App, Kies connectivity, S Memo (Just found out last night because S-Planner and Screen Capture were "unexpectedly Stopped") and Who-knows-what-I-miss. There is a notification of "Firmware update available" but upon installation and reboot, it failed to 'write' so I couldn't update my firmware either - (and did I mentioned I couldn't connect to Kies?)
So I, a newbie who had not done a single successful rooting (I tried and failed miserably with Z4root and other things before), spent Monday night and the whole day yesterday -- rooted my G-tab(as an experiment) and my wife's G-Note, learned how to block the Chinese Apps using Gemini App Manager, installed Android Market successfully (That's when I learned I have to install the .apk in the /system/app directory, installed Samsung Apps (by far the easiest of all). Only one thing (I think) I haven't been able to install successfully: S MEMO.
Now, I can connect to Kies, but I have this message on it: "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies"
The product was sent from Shenzhen (the capital of tech and hacks in China, and these people tried to be nice for the Chinese-language users by replacing some English apps with Chinese Character apps, but they didn't do it correctly. I guess they didn't even bother understanding why S-memo is so important, and now I'm missing the most important thing, the reason people buy G-Note: S MEMO!!!!
Now on, I'll be off searching for S Memo's .apk and .odex. or Should I just flash it with the new 2.3.6 ROM?
That's another question in another forum I guess.
P.S. Thanks to everyone's posts in this forum website and thegalaxytabforum
I have done all those above by going through many different posts. Great postings!
Yappoe.
Just root it then install cwm then flash a euro rom
I would perhaps just flash the hong kong rom.
It doesn't have the samsung apps / hubs? I've been trying to get them - they aren't on the HK rom.
S-memo is though, as are the main things I care about.
- Frank
As long as the hardware is good and it isn't bricked, youre totally fine. And it seems that is the case. Just root it and flash any ROM with a high number of replies. You'll be blown away with the outcome.

Not surprised that the Google apps are missing, especially the Market. I'm sure you have heard of China's love affair with Google!

Next time arrange a trip to Hong Kong and get it there.
ahhh don't worry.. this is a very small issue... I got into this before.. just root and install a new fresh ROM... problem solved easily... rooting and flashing a new ROM shouldn't take more than 15mins
Not exactly horrific. Flash a new ROM and done. Many devices here in Dubai are also without the official market. You can simply sideload the market app.
I'd hate to see what you'd think of a really horrific situation.

UPDATE: Got it flashed with German ROM
It's WORKING....LOVE THE PHONE!!!
Here are the steps I did to make my Galaxy Note GT-N7000 work after a scary day:
I found a place to download firmware at: h**p://fus(dot)nanzen(dot)se/
(from Hoffighter's posting) http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1350960
I downloaded Fus Check Downloader 2.1 and downloaded Firmware N7000XXKK9 (for Germany). It will automatically decode the .enc2 file to.zip file
I extracted the .zip file generated from decoding file to a folder and I got
"N7000XXKK9_N7000OXAKK9_N7000XXKK5_HOME.tar.md 5" file.
I downloaded Odin3 1.85 (search "odin3 1.85" in XDA Dev forum)
opened Odin3 1.85, attach the file .md5 to the PDA field on Odin.
I went to download mode on mt G-Note (Power + home + Volume down)
and click start. It took about 6 to 7 minutes to do the flashing,
and I got my brand new Galaxy Note working!!! I lost my root access, but I got all the apps I installed earlier back.
Thanks for all the good postings, guys!
Glad to hear you have fixed your issues.
As a (too) late word of caution, I would never ever buy that kind of expensive and sensitive piece of electronics from Taobao! Here in China, it is very important to be able to look with your own eyes to make sure this kind of small issues aren t here

Weird stock ROM from Venezuela

Hey all,
I bought my GNote off of Amazon (I live in the States), and it's been running great. I've been waiting for the most recent update to push to my phone, but it hasn't rolled out yet. So I've been doing a lot of searching to try to figure out where my phone actually came from. Pulling CSC using *#1234# gives me N7000UUBKK2. I can't find reference to that anywhere. When I run Kies or dial *#272*IMEI#, I get the following three options, which I've been able to identify.
VNO (selected) = Venezuela
TDR = DOMINICAN REP.
TTT = Trinidad & Tobago
Anyway, I bring this up because I can't seem to find this in Dr.Ketan's huge list of Stock roms (or any roms from those countries at all, though I am running 2.3.6). Does anyone know more about my rom, or when I can expect to get the newest update that enables the 1-handed keyboard?
@projectrally --- this is something I have not come across from anywhere myself...
Maybe, you be able to find out if you do research through samfirmware.com
you know the one i am talking about ?
There was a UBKK8 firmware floating around the DEV subforum a couple days ago... (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1478060)
I think "UB" is Brazil, and being that mine started with the same firmware, I'd say that you purchased the "samsung galaxy note gt-n7000 unlocked cellphone -- US Warranty (blue)" that's actually sold by amazon directly (not a 3rd party.)
I'm curious why would you want to keep the UB firmware? There are much more recent firmware versions for other regions, and they'll all work on your phone. I'm currently running a XXLA4 firmware with no problems.
If there is an issue where I need to send this back, I can easily put a UBKK1 firmware back on the phone.
Take care
Gary

I purchased from Amazon through a 3rd party seller called Worldwide Imports.
I don't really want to keep the UB firmware, but I've got a mac and really zero friends with PCs that I can use to reflash this thing. Even at work we've got all Macs. I tried installing a wineskinned version of Odin, but it couldn't find my phone via USB, so that didn't work. I've read a lot about heimdall and most of it's bad. I'm new to Android, and I'd rather go with a tried and true method (i.e. Odin on Windows) for my first crack at flashing a new rom.
Eventually I'll track down somebody with a windows machine to do this update, but it might take me a while. In the meantime, I'm sort of stuck with what I've got, so I was just wondering what info there is out there on the build.
I have the same build. I bought mine from expansys last week. I plan on keeping the rom as is and wait for the ICS upgrade. Really enjoying the phone. Everyone notices it.

Gary,
I've got a problem. Maybe you can help. I borrowed a friend's windows laptop and I've upgraded to XXLA4 using the following method...
- Root before reflash using zergrush
- downloaded and extracted zip file for XXLA4 to tar.md5 file
- flashed using mobile odin pro.
The result is that I get a successful update, but I get the "null" problem when typing. People have said that I need to update the CSC file by manually pointing the Cache file at the new CSC file, but I don't have a new CSC file to point to. When I unzipped the XXLA4 file that I downloaded, it was a single .tar.md5 file, which is the file I used to flash. If I put that same file in the Cache field of mobile odin (and don't change any other values) and then flash again, I still get the null error.
So Dr. Ketan says to use the CSC file, but I don't have a CSC file. If I extract the .tar.md5 file again, I get the following five files:
cache.img
factoryfs.img
hidden.img
modem.bin
zImage
Is one of those the file I should be using in mobile odin in the Cache field? Should I clear the cache first?
For now, I just went back and used PC Odin and flashed the KL1 version of XXLA4 without root. I'll keep searching and see what I can sort out. This would be easier if I didn't have to borrow a Windows machine to do this...

[Q] Why won't my Beast Running UBKK2 Update?

Since I received my N7000 on November 17, 2011 from Mobilecityonline my Galaxy Note won't update. It's running UBKK2 - the CSC is TTT - which a Brazilian CSC.
I've searched every thread and correctly followed every step of the process I've found unsuccessfully, I've tried the manual update and receive "no update available" every time I read about a new firmware release. The CSC is listing only 3 codes; VNO, TTT, and TDR - I installed each one of these CSC codes in an attempt to prompt a software update to no avail. I haven't even gotten the update from January that provided the addition of the Torch & everything that came with it!
Short of rooting my Note is there anything I can do to either change the CSC Code to one that receives updates regularly or manually update the firmware? I thought I'd wait until ICS became available hoping that would correct these issues but I'm slowly getting PO'd that I may not be even to receive ICS.
Plus I didn't/don't see the reason to have rooted by now - I've rooted all of my Android devices from HTC EVO 4G's & 3D's, Nook Color, to Asus Transformers. Is there anything I can do without rooting this beast and will I even receive Ice Cream Sandwich?
I'm begging for help please. I'd sincerely appreciate ANY help and I'm willing to donate to anyone that will help achieve everything I'm missing out on to date.
Thank you in advance,
Jim G.
If keeping it stock is all you want, just download one of the stock firmwares and flash it with odin.
You may have to be a member to see this link but.....

^^^
They are the South Amercian firmwares currently out, but the European ones are newer if you want to try those.
Wow that was fast!
Wow! Thank you for the super fast reply. Can I D/L and use any stock firmware, I was hoping to use either the UK or German versions cuz they look like they get updates more often than the rest. If I'm wrong I stand corrected - could you please point out a version to use or am I stuck using the BZ version forever?
Oh Lord I hope not! * Forgive me - I saw you suggested the EU versions after I hurried to reply, my fault! *
Again, Thank You in advance,
Jim G.
Brazil Note.
I too have a Note with a ROM from Brazil. Since this is my first Android phone and I'm a noob so far, what will it take to get mine over to a euro one. Will this brick my phone? What region do you recommend for a US user? I understand that you meant Europe, but there a lot of choices like open, open euro or open germany or europ or german. Any directions or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
flshing a firmware for another region is fine... I offen just update to whereever has the newest update
But if i update to a stock rom from another country without changing csc, will i be able to update via kies whenever a newer csc update gets release online for my country? I got this ideia it wont be possible and will still need to change it again via Odin. It bother me if it wipes my phone each time i update. Still in kka/5 here with unlocked phone...

After updating to another regions ROM, You can just Odin back to the original stock ROM if you really wanted to, to restore KIES function for the original configuration.
But to be honest, the only time I ever have, is just for warranty purposes, I don't touch kies in any shape or form, there really is no need.
The way I work is, I like to use the stock ROMs, but rooted etc... So, when I got the phone, I rooted it, put the ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM) on and now I just update my ROM with the repacked stock versions made to be flashed with CWM. They are exactly the same ROMs but rooted and deodexed, some I "believe" are multi CSC too.
Swyped from my finger, to your face on my Samsung Galaxy Note, using Tapatalk!
Thank you for all the help! I'm choosing to use the open-Germany (DBT) stock ROM cuz I've been keeping track of the ROM that was updated the most. I found it to be the German and UK versions but it seems the open-German edges it out.
I've got it all D/L'd and am actually waiting to get my notebook up and running after a CPU upgrade. Once I receive the thermal paste updating my Beast is the 1st order of business!
It sucks that the UBKK2 firmware never allowed any kind of an update, it makes me wonder if I'd even get the ICS update when it's released on March 15 or shortly thereafter. Of course that's according to the rumor mill and I'm simply referring to that since the SGSII's received their ICS earlier today according to SanFirnware.
So who knows? Again, I thank everyone fir their help and input.

I am assuming you are talking about the browser bug? That was an issue with chrome's zoom being inaccurate on, frankly, every Galaxy Note up until now. They fixed it recently.

'H+' vs 'H' Icon
Hi
Just flashed this ROM on my HK Note N5120 LTE (CSC Was TGY). The device came from Panamoz.com as I was struggling to buy the LTE version sim free in the UK for reasonable money, and Kies was not offering to upgrade the stock 4.1.2 firmware to 4.2.2.
Used this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44241666&postcount=4
All worked fine, Answered 'No' when asked about making CWM recovery permanent. The CSC became BTU (UK) after the flash. CWM recovery was replaced with stock during the flash.
Since I am in the UK, I flashed the modem files that came with the ROM, and still get 4G. I have the same issue as everyone else regarding the S-Pen offset - probably not bad enough to flash back to 4.1.2 for me, but hopefully Samsung will fix.
My main issue is that compared to 4.1.2, I hardly ever see the device show 'H+', only 'H'. I travel the same route on the train daily, and now, I see 'H+' 10% of the time rather than 90% of the time. My other device on the same network still shows H+.
Maybe others have seen my 'H' vs 'H+' issue?
Does this device support DC-HSPA?? I recall that with the S3 and Note2, one gained DC-HSPA+42 (so called 3.75G theoretical max 42Mbps), when one bought the LTE version of the phone. The non LTE versions only had HSPA+21. Reason I am asking is I am wondering if the 'H+' now only shows for DC-HSPA rather than for HSPA+21 ??
Tempted to flash the old modem files again, see if my H+ returns to normal operation - and of course to see if its any faster.
My device is still rooted with the flash counter == 2, and It does still appear to be recognized by kies when connected to the PC. Time will tell whether I will get updates via Kies still. If not then maybe I will need to use Triangle to reset the flash counter, and then do a full unroot.

Just got mine from the same place. Your post has helped me with some questions I had. Thanks.:good:
No OTA For me
So, the next stage was to run Triangle away, which worked fine (counter reset to 'No'). Just be brave and accept the big red warning.
Following on from that, I unrooted using the unroot option in Super User app that was installed by chainfire's 'auto root'.
This worked too, and I confirmed root gone. After a reboot, I reconnected to Kies, to check that it recognized the firmware on the device as the 'latest'. It was.
I then tried the 'Software Update' option under Settings->about device, unfortunately, this no longer works it just says 'connecting to server' forever and eventually comes up with a message: 'your device has been modified, software updates are not available'. So No OTA for me.
Any idea how to get OTA working again??
Here is the screenshot from the downloading screen, showing 'official' for all the firmwares on the device. Could it have something to do with the CSC? (TGY on 4.1.2 and BTU on 4.2.2) ?
http://photos.veletron.com/index.php/album151/P1070688
If I goto Settings-->About Device-->Status, and wait an age while the 'Device Status' field updates, it reports 'custom'. I guess this is why, but how come given that the 'download' screen reports as per the above screen shot?!
Prior to running Triangle Away, and unrooting, the OTA check on the device, span for a while before reporting no new updates available.

I can not say anything about the OTAupdates since I never use Kies to update, but as for the modem, I am running the "old" 4.1.2 modem and it is working well for me, tho I have not compared my note now and before in regards to how ofteni see H+ or just H, most often I see the 4G icon where I usually hang out.
But I would try the 4.1.2 modem for your region and see if it changes anything.

Got mine updated to 4.2.2 yesterday.
Not sure why but my battery life seemed to have taken a hit since upgrading.
On 4.1.2 i used to be able to last a day easily with about 30 - 40% left each day (7am till 9pm). after updating to 4.2.2 I am down to 30% in 5 hrs. Tab gets hotter too. Anyone experience the same issue?
I am back on 4.1.2 for now. Everything's good again.
thanks man for update.
Just for info
After the update to 4.2.2 Mh1 by flashing the firmware here, I never got OTA again (says device status custom). Stock rom and flash counter zero. I was however able to update to MH2 via kies. I am still told device status custom!
No difference for me re pen pointer offset on MH1/MH2 not sure Samsung will ever bother to fix this.
My device now BTU but it started as Hong Kong. I suspect this is why it reckons it's "custom".

I have the same device but not the same problem. I also updated to MH2 via Odin and my status is normal. The offset for me is much better than previous, and I have no problem with the battery lasting more than a day using WiFi and push mail along with the normal use. However although recognized by Kies it would not update, I recon because of the CSC.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THAAAAAAAANK YOOOOOOOU! (if it didn't look and/or feel weird, I'd kiss you! *LOL* I wouldn't it was a joke)
BUT you saved my stupid self from self pity. You see, I didn't realize - until too late - that there were 3 versions of this device, and attempted to install a 5110 ROM. That caused me 5 DAYS of hell until I cam across this, and voila! I got my tablet back. So again - TANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Great post. I feel your joy
THere is a newer version. Does anyone know how we can go from JDQ39.N5120XXCMH2 to the new JDQ39.N5120XXCMI2 version?
My phone also says custom like Nigels problem above, I am having same problem that he was having when he first went to 4.2.2 from 4.2.1... I'm currently on 4.2.2 trying to go to the new CMI2.

I downloaded the CMI2 version from samsmobile site. It was a KIES file extracted the file and using mobile odin flashed it to my device. All working fine.:good:
