[Q] Problems Multiboot - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm trying to use Multiboot on my defy (Red lenses and GB kernel). My original rom is the latest CM9 by Quarx.
Every ROM I installed (I tried MIUI V4, XIUI and CM10, all for Defy+) I get com.android.phone FC and, I think its because of this error, i cannot find network (yes, I tried to switch my baseband to the correct one).
I tried Multiboot v0.6.1 and v0.5.1 and get the same error. I tried v0.7 with TWRP, but with this I stuck at Motorola logo.
Its the firist time i'm trying to use multiboot, I did all the steps of more than 1 tutorial and give me the same error. Anyone know something I may have missed? I'll keep trying and if I got something i'll post here.
Thanks.

did you get multiboot working?
if not, what error does it gave??
and what steps did you followed???

Basically I instaled multiboot V0.6.1, then installed Multiboot Manager Free and created an image with cache: 150Mb, data 250Mb, and system: 350Mb. Then I flashed one of the ROMs tha I mentioned.
I get it working, I can load the system, conect via wifi, navigate and etc, but after startup I get com.android.phone FC and get no signal. This happened with all the ROMs tha I've installed.
EDIT:
It seems that I could solve it, I uninstalled Multi Boot Manager and installed Vibhinna, deleted the old system image and did everything again. Now I get no errors.
Thanks.

You should also be aware that if you have a GB base ROM you should download the Defy+ versions of the ROMs you want to use in multiboot.

[Q] Phone App Missing or GApps Stops

I have been running android on my HD2 all year and have never had any major problems until today.
I am currently running Typhoon CM7 v3.4.1 but I am interested in giving Hyperdroid CM7 another try. Every time I flash it I am either missing the phone app or I get a message about GApps stopping unexpectedly. I have tried both v2.1.0 and v2.0.1, I then tried MIUI.us 1.7.1 and had the same problem, no phone app installed.
I have done task29, re downloading roms, transferring them onto the phone using different methods, tried different versions of CWM (v3.0.0.5 & v3.2.0.0) and I have also tried flashing a WM6.5 rom and then coming back to Android and nothing helps.
I have also tried clean install without restoring data and with restoring data.
I have a backup of my current Typhoon v.3.4.1 and I can restore this and everything works fine.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
I'm not sure what else to try.
thanks.
Edit: If I log into my Google account straight after a fresh install on hyperdroid I get an error about acore stopping. If I don't log in straight away everything works until I log in and then I get an error about gapps framework stopping.
Edit: I managed to downgrade to Typhoon 3.4.0 while keeping user data. Can't successfully flash any other rom. I guess I will have to stick with this rom. Not such a bad thing, just need to get over my flashing addiction.
I have now tried to format the sd card which didn't help
I tried to flash a stock wm6.5 rom with the stock SPL but I couldn't get it to flash using the sd card method.
I tried clk instead of magldr and every time I get the same issue with the gapps framework.
Does anyone have any ideas?
I am guessing that there might be some corrupted data on the nand but I don't know how to check.

[Q] Baseband broken? [half fixed]

HI, everyone
i got a problem with my defy recently.
i was running CM7 by Epsylon3.
As we all know, this rom comes with defy basebandswitcher v4.0, and it works well.
Yestoday, i want to update this "BBS" to v4.1. but when i uninstall v4.0 and install v4.1(http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1203297), open it , it shows "unable to detect your baseband configuration, it's possibly damaged."
then i reinstall v4.0, but i cant find it in app drawer. i'm sure it's installed and i can see it in "setting-->applications-->manage applications" also in "dev tools-->package browser".
i tried the method in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21844497 . I renamed "system/etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default" and reset it to default use v4.1. but no new filefolder "bp_nvm_default" generated. and the problem still exist.
i also flashed offical SBF file 3.4.2_179-4.4(VFSBLUR) , 3.4.2_177-005(NORDIC) and reflashed CM7. still cant find app with v4.0 and the same message with v4.1.
Edit:half fixed... I reflashed stock sbf (different versions) several times , then flash CM7-11 again, after a bootloop, pull out the battery, power up, the "BBS" v4.0 bundled worked normally. but v4.1 still doesn't work.
Another question, i got a FOTA (com.motorola.process.system) FC. Maybe i should repost another thread. There is no responding here. Sorry for my poor english....

[Q] Everything gone wrong.

It's currently 7am on monday morning, and I have college. I haven't slept at all because my [red lens] defy has been giving me problems.
I've been trying to re-flash CM7 to get a clean install of it, with no frills/apps that I've installed over time.
I've done a factory reset through CWM, and re-flashed CM7.1 from here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=umts_jordan
I've tried finding GApps for this, but to no avail. None of them install properly (CWM says they have, but actually hasn't - It's nowhere on my app drawer/home/manage apps).
I've tried adding an account to sync but when it asks what google products I want to install (such as YouTube, Maps, StreetView), it crashes mentioning "process com.teamdouche.pacman"
That's problem 1
Problem 2 is my Home and Search button no longer work! I've tried everything I could google for, but nothing has helped.
[Edit: they do vibrate, but nothing happens]
Any help on these matters would be much appreciated, as this is really annoying :/ Thanks.
Also I've just realised the apps in Manage Applications are all my old apps, even though I've actually formatted my SD card in CWM since, each has a SD card icon, and is taking up 0.00B space, but I'm just wondering how they even show there..
Did you try flashing the CM7 kernel ?
Or did you mount /system ?
Herpderp Defy.
Here's my About Phone info:
Android Version - 2.3.7
Baseband Version - EPU93_U_00.59.01
Kernel Version - 2.6.32.9-gb08c3c8 [email protected] #1
Mod version - CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RC1-Defy-KANG (CM7 White Rabbit)

Do you have a link to the CM7 Kernel? :S
System is mounted
I've managed to get Market installed, but it only opens once, and when I try to download something it Force Closes, and then after that it force closes when I open it.
Flash stock rom for noow ....

dude, restore stock room, and try flashing an official cm7, what i think is that the room that you flashed is corrupted or something like that
1º: Reflash a stock room
2º: Get a official stable CM7 room ( http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=umts_jordan )
3º: Don't forget to wipe all data, cache and dalvik cache.
4º: See if that works and thank me for this
EDIT:
Here is a link to Gapps, just in case (http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip )
good luck with your defy

[Q] x5 won't load some ROMs, mobile won't connect on MIUI v3 2.4.20

My x5 is currently running MIUI v3 2.4.20 with kernel 2.6.35.7-perf but phone gets no mobile connection (mobile signal has X, "Error searching for mobile networks" in mobile network settings, 2G/3G etc greyed out).
I can flash other ROMs onto it via CWM, but it sits at the IDEOS logo after reboot. I don't know what's special about the MIUI v3 2.4.20 that it loads. I'm wiping Dalvik cache, system cache and user data before/after each ROM load.
Previously the phone was running an earlier MIUI build for four or five months, no issues (ok, some occasional "xxx has stopped responding" etc).
A few days ago I decided to upgrade MIUI, so I tried the v3 2.4.20 (Miui_U8800_Multilingual_R6.0-SP1.0.zip) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481168 ... but got no mobile. Next I tried an older version from that same thread (Miui_2.4.20-32_U8800_Multilingual_R2.zip) which gave back mobile but it was patchy.
Then I tried the Aurora (aurora_3.0_beta2.zip) and CM7 (CM7-070512.zip) builds pinned to top of http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1123 - neither would boot.
Then I tried going back to MIUI.us_u8800_1.12.9_MUL.zip but that didn't boot either.
Full uname -a is 2.6.35.7-perf #132 PREEMPT Sat Mar 31 12:44:45 CST 2012 armv71
I would love if someone can help me either
1) get mobile connection working in MIUI, or
2) get the phone to boot after installing some other ROM.
Please tell me - what detail am I missing in making this all work?

What recovery are you using?
personally i use 5.0.2.7, it's very important the version that you use. Other thing if you are using recovery 5.0.2.7 or 5.5.0.4 try to flash the official firmware then the image that you want.

Thanks. Will try that tonight, don't have the device handy. From memory I'm using CWM 5.5.x.
Where is best to obtain the official recovery ROMs? I downloaded some from Huawei but they seem to be upgrade ROMs and CWM doesn't like them (AFAICT). They were -
HUAWEI_U8800_Android 2.3 V100R001C00B526G001-Normal.zip
U8800 V100R001C00B135SP01CUSTC240D001%28UK%29.zip
Is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369296 the right set of instructions to go back to a stock ROM?
EDIT: Maybe not, everyone in that thread is complaining about it lacking Market.app?!
EDIT2: It's CWM 5.5.0.4
Currently restoring stock rom based on instructions at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1194425.html
EDIT: And ... it worked Yay.

Custom kernel problems

Hi
I have regular defy with red lens.
I have flashed some time ago new Quarx rom with custom kernel from WIUI JB rom.
After that I am unable to flash any non custom kernel builds. Even when I did a full wipe and flashed Froyo kernel with CM7, I got stucked in boot-loop. I even can't go to Stock recovery.
Now I am running recent Quarx build, but during the boot my led light is red. Also the rom is quite unstable, and crashes quite lot whitch I think is not the problem of the rom, but problem with the phone.
I also tried to use different custom kernel with no success. Also I searched this forum for some answer with the same result.
I have never flashed any SBF to my phone, I have ever used nandroid backup.
(I got my phone with Eclair, but after I got my phone from warranty repair I got Froyo)
I'll probably try to solve this problem by flashing Froyo SBF and try it again.
Thank you for help.
EDIT:
When I tried to flash WIUI JB again, strange thing happen. It flashed normally but ROM did not see internal memory and crashed after RAM got full. Also recovery had listed some errors.
Another custom kernel roms also work, but with the same problem as CM10.
I have also set correct setting for rom in bootmenu (2nd boot or 2nd init).
