Please help, a minute into trying to root my Kindle Fire I "bricked" it! - Kindle Fire General

Finally tiring of the stock Kindle Fire OS and wanted a more robust tablet experience I decided I wanted to root my Kindle Fire and install an ICS ROM. Here is how I messed up my Kindle Fire.
1. I downloaded "Kindle Fire Utility 0.9.6
2. I extracted the RAR
3. I ran "install_drivers" and they installed perfect
4. Hooked up my Kindle Fire, it popped up saying found and finalizing some drivers and then a window popped up showing me the contents of my Kindle Fire.
5. I ran "run" and it brought up a menu saying "ADB Status: Online" so I chose option 2 "Install permanent boot with superuser"
6. It said it didn't find "twrp" but it would download it
Here is where I ran into a problem, it must have started to do something to my Kindle before it got to this point. For some reason KFU was unable to download "twrp" as it keep erroring out and trying again. After 15 attempts I decided to close the DOS window down and unplug the Kindle Fire. Now my Kindle Fire will not boot, it hangs at the "kindle fire" logo. I can hold the power in for 30 seconds and shut it off but it will not load boot up, it just stays at the logo. I can plug the cable in with it either off or on the kindle fire logo but the PC never recognizes it. I even when in and the driver is still there and installed properly.
Why would it start altering my Kindle Fire if it can't get TWRP downloaded? What can I do?

Oh and I forgot to mention that "Kindle Fire Utility" shows it as "Offline" now and nothing I can do can get it to say online.

I think I bricked my kindle fire

1. I downloaded cm7
2. I installed it using TWRP
3. I made a backup of my old kindle system
4. I didn't cm7 so I tried to restore to my old kindle system via TWRP
5. After restoring, my kindle just goes to TWRP everytime I try to reboot it.
Update: IT'S FIXED! by setting my bootmode to normal
But how do I remove TWRP? It's annoying.
I'll just have to wait for cm9.
so many of these "AHHH ITS BRICKED!!!" posts.. then a hour later "nevermind its fixed" this exact problem has about 20 threads with fixes.. I am not picking on this poster.. just all of them that panic and don't use the search button
For anyone else here is how to unbridled it if it happens
1.Download kindle fire utility
2.Unzip kindle fire utility
3.To install the driver, its easy, just plug in your kindle, when it pops up with the install wizard say pick from the location of: KindleFireUtility>drivers>kindle 4.run kindle fire utility, select 1 then select 1 again
That's it, hope it helps

[Q] Bricked Kindle Fire after Installing Go Launcher

Hi All, I bricked my Kindle Fire after installing Go Launcher so had to resort to rooting it. Fire was stuck at the Kindle Fire screen.
I basically followed this post:
So to fix I needed to root my Kindle with out a UI. Command Line only :-/
Download the Java Development Kit and install http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...ads/index.html
Download the Android SDK and install http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Run the SDK Manager.exe and make sure you install the 'extras' package. (It has the google drivers)
Update your Kindle Drivers http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/12/13/h...db-usb-driver/
Get the Kindle Fire Utility http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1399889
(Thank you thank you thank you for writing this util, saved my butt!)
If all is working, you will be able to root your Kindle from the command line!
I am now at the stage where i can boot using option 3 in the KFU and enter TWRP, but when i select option 1 for normal boot i end up back at the kindle fire splash screen (After the yellow triangle shows). Same place i was at pre root!!
I've read a million posts but not sure where im at. Can anyone suggest anything, i'm stuck in a loop...
Any help/comments/suggestions welcome.

from the first page of KFU:
Known Tricks
•If you end up stuck at the yellow triangle, in KF Utility select Boot Normal, wait for it to say <waiting for device> and then press and hold the power button 20 seconds until the fire turns off, then when its off turn it back on. This sometimes happens, I have yet to find a clean solution
•If you end up stuck with a yellow triangle, do not EVER unplug it. Leave it plugged in. Check the windows drivers to make sure it isnt showing as "kindle" again. Fastboot is different and can cause this.
thanks b63, i can get it to recognise after it says <waiting for device>. This put it to the kindle fire screen though...
Also it always shows as Android Composite ADB device too!
I'm missing someting fundemental i think
do you have a yellow triangle in device manager ?
when does it say <waiting for device> ?
immediately after starting KFU or when you select change bootmode -> normal ?

Can't go into recovery...

I'm pretty new at this and I'm having issues going into TWRP.
Whenever I try to install TWRP recovery using the KFU, It looks like it's going through the process, and I do end up seeing the teamwin logo popup and the device boots into the regular kindle interface (so it at least appears that TWRP was installed). The problem is whenever I try to go into recovery using the bootmode menu in KFU, the kindle will reboot, only it won't go into recovery and just goes back to the regular kindle interface. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. One thing I did notice from looking through tutorials, is that when you reboot the device it's suppose to go to a yellow triangle screen before going into TWRP. My kindle never does this. I don't ever see that yellow triangle screen and instead see the regular kindle fire logo before it loads the regular interface. One other thing is whenever i use the KFU, under "adb rooted:" it says no. I thought after I did the "Permanent Root with Superuser" that it was supposed to say yes. Anyways, any help would be much appreciated.
the yellow triangle is the bootloader (firefirefire) which you'r missing i think
i would take the newest KFU 0.9.2 (attention re-upped yesterday-redownload):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
reading the op (espacially the known tricks) is a good idea
i recommend to extract kfu to c:\ and rename "kindle fire utility" to "kfu" because it don't allways like the blanks in the path
if you are on windows7 you should run kfu and all other commands from an elevated command shell (as administator)
to install the correct drivers (espacially on win7/64bit) by running install_drivers.bat is also a good idea
now you are ready to use kfu and install twrp again
that's the easy way
if it don't work you can install fff (firefirefire - the yellow triangle) manually
ask again about this ...
Thanks for the reply - just got home and I'll try your suggestions.
I'm having the same problem as the OP here.
I originally rooted using BurritoRoot, which worked just fine.
When using KFU, option 5, it seems to run everything smoothly, the downloads are the correct size... But when it goes and starts rebooting at the "DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING! DON'T EVEN LOOK AT IT! OR ELSE!"* screen on KFU, my Kindle boots into the standard Kindle Boot Animation, then the TeamWin splash pops up for a moment.
It then reboots back to the regular Kindle Fire boot animation and KFU says "There we go. TWRP is installed. Ter-dah!"*
When I go to restart the Kindle, however, I never get the FireFireFire icon at all. Just straight into the normal KindleFire stuff.
I decided to take a look at my device manager while my Fire is plugged in. It's listed under "Android Phone > Android Composite ADB Interface"
Perhaps this is the drivers for my Android Phone interfering with the drivers for the Kindle? Iunno. I'm pretty lost on this one.
(* Paraphrased, in my own words, of course)
the driver is the you stated is the right one for kf in normal bootmode
would retry the installation with kfu and watch the output carefully
maybe copy and paste the output for later analysis
seems to be a common problem at the time:

How about just download the older KU 0.9.1 that's known to work everytime. 0.9.2 had issues installing TWRP.
Once you installed it using KFU 0.9.1, you will have no proiblems getting to your TWRP recovery.
Using the 0.9.1 version did it for me. Thanks a bundle.
Now I'm drooling over ICS on the Kindle Fire. Can't wait for a stable build! +_+

Kindle Fire Bricked

Ok, so i wanted to install Cynogen Mod 7 on my perfect kindle fire. So i followed the directions on http://liliputing.com/2011/12/how-to-install-cyanogenmod-7-on-the-amazon-kindle-fire.html. Everything was going fine, i downloaded and opened The Kindle Fire Utility and used the permanent root option. It rooted and everything went fine. Then i went to the TWRP Recovery, it installed and then went into fastboot. It took a little while for me to realize that it wasn't going anywhere. I started following other guides to unbrick my kindle fire but all my efforts was in vain. I got desperate and uninstalled the drivers, the kfu and windows 32 bit computer won't recognize my kindle and i just want this horrible nightmare to end. Can someone please help me here.
You are currently being assisted in another thread. After an attitude you posted another. The other thread was not yours, so understandable, but please be more patient.
Reinstall the drivers using the .bat file. Try to restart the kindle again. 90% of the time these are driver issues. If that does not work, try the fastboot commands in the other thread and restarting the kindle again. The Cd "your directory" is typed in then press enter. Each line is a new command so hit enter between each.

[Q] Is my kindle bricked?

So, I rooted my device, and I flashed CM7, and everything worked fine.
after running for awhile my device just went black. So when after about 15 mins, it went to the Fire triangle logo and is now stuck in this logo.
I searched and found problems like this but when I plug in my device, my computer wont recognize it...
so am i screwed? - Again, I've searched and tried many of the steps advised...
What did you use to obtain root? Do you have the KF Utilities downloaded and on your computer?
If not, here is a link: (Vashypooh gets ALL the credit)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
Mine got stuck on the triangle as well and I thought I was screwed, but more than likely you're just stuck in fastboot.
What I did was use the KFU and even though it didn't show as recognized I was able to use Option 1 - Bootmode Menu, Then Option 1 - Normal.
My Fire restarted normally after that.
Don't know if it will fix it for you, but it's worth a shot huh?
Thank you sir. After reading that I got to reboot correctly by turning it off plugging it in, and turning it off and on three times and tried the unbrick utility again and it went through. Thank you.
Glad you got it to work. Now you can get on to the fun parts.
Also for some people this might work. I unbricked my kindle. Here is how I did it
1.Download kindle fire utility
2.Unzip kindle fire utility
3.To install the driver, its easy, just plug in your kindle, when it pops up with the install wizard say pick from the location of: KindleFireUtility>drivers>kindle 4.run kindle fire utility, select 1 then select 1 again
That's it, hope it helps someone like me
